The Most Exciting Austin Restaurant Openings, May 2025 | Eater Austin

"An Australian all-day cafe that serves breakfast until 4 p.m., offering authentic touches like Vegemite flights and the Big Brekkie (poached eggs, multigrain toast, bacon, chicken sausage, smashed avocado, chorizo baked beans, and hash browns) alongside Texan-friendly items such as banana bread French toast. The location functions as an all-day spot with deli-style lunch offerings (Reuben, tuna salad, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on open-faced rye) and a dinner menu from 6 p.m. featuring gastro pub dishes like vodka sauce chicken Parmesan, fish and chips, and short rib ragu pappardelle; initial promotions include 50% off during the first month and a Wednesday wings-and-wine special ($6 wings and half-price wines)." - Courtney E. Citizens - Review - Rosedale - Austin - The Infatuation

"Citizen is part of Austin’s tiny embassy of Australian-themed restaurants and bars (along with Two Hands, Proud Mary, Aussie’s, and The Flower Shop), This is an all-day cafe where you can get Vegemite flights, fish and chips, smashed avocado benedicts, cocktails, and more. It’s located on Burnet Road, across from the original Pinthouse Pizza. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

This was our first experience at Citizens and we absolutely loved it. We came to celebrate our anniversary for a Sunday brunch. Our server, June, made it extra special by their sweet demeanor and treating us to a surprise, Banana bread French toast! June was a very attentive and friendly server. The environment is fun and upbeat, a tad bit loud. The decor is lovely and the food, delicious! We love their focus on community and working with high quality partners. We also got to choose a local organization the restaurant supports to donate to at the end of our visit. We are new fans of this place and will be back!

I was actually impressed! The food, service and atmosphere were spot on! Food.. was so GOOD!! The ingredients they use seem fresh and quality seems good too. Nothing was overly sweet or overly salty. We ordered the Harissa chicken bowl and bbq pulled pork benny, and I would come again for those really! Also received banana bread french toast on the house and we thought it would be too sweet but it was juuust perfect with the butter scotch syrup. Portion size was good enough and kept us full (I eat alot but it was perfect). Pricing was a bit pricey; wish they took off a dollar or two but considering it’s near downtown (anything in downtown is pricey..), and the quality/portion is good, I think it’s fair. Our server June (I think?!) was attentive and friendly, and knew what we needed without us even asking! Every staff member was so jolly and nice. :) Atmosphere was cute and clean, but tables were bit small and close to other tables around, but wasn’t too uncomfortable. Best part is parking!!! They have their own parking lot which gave me a peace of mind. :) The menu has a lot of options and I would come back again to try the rest of the items, knowing they’ll be good too! :)

What an absolute gem! Citizens All Day in Austin is an experience you won't forget. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the incredible service and delicious food. Dylan took such a good care of our table, he went above and beyond to make our night so special. He was so friendly, funny, and welcoming, offering spot-on recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were fantastic, especially the espresso martini, which was perfectly balanced and a true highlight. The menu is so extensive, with options for every craving, and everything we ordered was outstanding. We can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing dishes. Citizens All Day is a must-visit, and we'll be telling everyone we know about this fantastic spot!

This was our first time here and we’ll definitely be coming back! We tried a few different items from the menu — the Korean fried wings, banana butterscotch pancakes, and the brekkie cheddar biscuit — and every single one was absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point and everything was cooked perfectly. The service was just as impressive. Our server, Amy, was fantastic — super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We’ll absolutely be requesting her again next time. Highly recommend this spot!

We stopped by this place just to try their coffee and grab a croissant, and we were pleasantly surprised! The shop has such a cute, cozy vibe—we loved the decor, and the staff was very friendly, which made the experience even nicer. We didn’t try the food this time, but based on the atmosphere alone, we’d definitely come back and give it another go. Great little spot for a coffee break!

Beautiful place with plenty of food to choose from! Servers are great! Wait times minimal so far as well. Definitely a place worth to check out!

Google
First time visit, service and staff friendly and working hard. Food choices amazing and hot when served. So many drink choices was hard to narrow it down. A definite Austin-typical little place, well-lit and great decor!

Yelp
Pretty dang good!! Fabulous service. The wait staff was amazing. So friendly, outgoing, but also quick and very aware of anything you need. Happy hour prices were also a good deal. Big serving sizes for very reasonable prices. Drinks around $5-$10 and appetizers $9-$15. However, the portions are large!!!!! Korean chicken wings were $9 and was 3 large pieces of chicken, I was impressed. Atmosphere was very cool as well. Lots of seating space, lots of available parking outdoors, and just good vibes all around!

Yelp
There is a parking lot and a lot next door that you can also park. We had a reservation for brunch but didn't get seated until about 15-20 minutes past our reservation time. This place was busy!! Every table was taken. Cocktails: The Troublemaker was so refreshing! The Blueberry Jam Sour was also very good. Main dish: I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Benny with the hashbrowns and thought it was very yummy! It's a popular dish according to their menu.

Yelp
Like warm beer? Sold out specials at 6pm? Slow service? This is the place for you! Pivoted to the burger which was ok, but nothing special.

Everything here was wonderful! From the service (excellent) to the food and the vibe! Excited that it is near my house!

Yelp
This aesthetic cafe is great for people who appreciate good service and cute vibes. As for the food, they offer a wide selection, so you can find something for everyone. That said, it's not a must-visit spot for me. We came for Sunday brunch around 11am. My friend made the reservation but could only book a table for two. Surprisingly, when we arrived, they seated us at a table for four. Unfortunately, we got a table near the entrance, which meant flies were constantly hovering over our food and drinks. Since it's an Australian cafe and I had read a review that said the Flat White was the only standout item, I knew I had to try it. I ordered the flat white with whole milk, but it was underwhelming. The coffee lacked strong flavor, and the milk wasn't particularly creamy. To be fair, I usually prefer a cappuccino so a flat white's ratio might just not be to my taste. When it was brought to our table, the server spilled some on the saucer and didn't acknowledge it-which felt a bit careless. The Cheddar Biscuit Brekkie Sandwich was one of the better dishes we tried. The biscuit was different from others I've had-it was thin and fluffy, which paired nicely with the egg and bacon. The hash brown tasted as delicious as it looked. The Blueberry & Maple pancakes were soft and beautifully presented, but a bit on the dry side. They held their shape well though. Our server was super fun and playful, and you can tell he was enjoying his shift. He was easy to chat with and helped make the experience more enjoyable. There's also a small lot by the restaurant with free parking, which is nice. Overall, the food didn't blow me away, but the cafe has a versatile menu and a charming atmosphere. With so many options, the menu can feel a bit overwhelming and I'm not quite sure what their standout item is. That said, the drink menu looks intriguing so I would consider coming back to try those items.

Yelp
Came to Citizens All Day for lunch. It is definitely well themed as a modern Australian café. Seems like a lot of thought went into the branding, menu design, and interior. The host even had an Aussie accent! I had the Hot Honey Turkey Sandwich, which was solid flavor-wise but the bread was a bit stale. Chicken & Waffles was delicious but the portion size was on the small side for the price. We both got water and had to ask a couple times for refills. No ice, maybe that is an Australian thing? The Matcha Latte was fine, and they had something called Blue Matcha on the menu. I asked what it was and our server wasn't too sure. He said it might be made with butterfly pea flower but didn't seem confident. No extra napkins offered besides the one that came on the table with out silverware. The little details like that add up. Honestly, if they put as much attention into the food and service as they did the menu design and decor, this place would be an easy 5-stars.

Yelp
This is a cool new Australian place that just opened on burnet road! The interior is well done and the vibes are good (although they need to turn the overhead lights down sooner, I felt like I was in Kerbey Lane with how bright it was in there). We came for dinner and the food was good, but this is probably more of a breakfast place. The drinks were fantastic! Love the whipped/fluffy drinks! I would come back just for apps and drinks. The Golden Hour was the fan favorite at our table, but the fluffy pineapple was really good too. The service was a bit odd (which is sometimes an Australian bit??) but we overall liked our server and he was funny, he just missed a few things and didn't know the menu super well. It seems the servers and managers have some misunderstandings about gluten free options that need to be ironed out. I was told the rigatoni could be made gluten free, then was told the manager said it might not be gf, so I just ordered a salad bowl to be safe. It would be great (and on brand for Australia) if they had good gf substitutions, but with the current lack of understanding I wouldn't feel comfortable eating here anytime soon if I was full celiac.

Yelp
A cute aesthetic cafe that took over the former location of Foxtrot. I came by myself on my day off and was immediately seated in a little corner near the front window of the cafe for breakfast. When you step in, it gives you a diner feel with lots of foliage and character. Also, in the right-hand corner of the restaurant, there's a billboard showing where all the food is sourced from locally. The service staff was super friendly but also seemed like they were all just getting into the grove of things, as they all interchanged roles from host/hostess to server throughout the course of service. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict per recommendation of the server and a vanilla oatmilk latte. The menu is marketed as australian, however, a lot of the items seem to be moreso American breakfast staple items. I can't attest to the lunch and dinner items. My food came out promptly and was simple but delicious, my only complaint is how tall the biscuits are that the poached eggs and smoked salmon sit on. It makes it really difficult to eat the benedict and probably fairly unattractive if your on a date with someone else stuffing that amount of food into your mouth in one bite. I would come back here again to try more items from the menu and also to try out the lunch and dinner items in the future.

Yelp
This is a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant, with great booth seating, beautiful tiling and furnishings, and an eye-catching mural outside. While the restaurant markets itself online as Australian, the menu felt more like an American fusion with Asian and Mediterranean influences. I ordered the calamari which was excellent and worth the $14. I also had the miso chicken bowl, which was flavorful, satisfying, and still felt light and healthy.
google avatar

Madoka W.

Yelp
Super cute Aussie-inspired café! The exterior is absolutely adorable -- total Instagram spot. The inside was smaller than I expected, but still super charming with cozy decor. The miso chicken salad was decent -- nice and light if that's what you're in the mood for. The matcha latte didn't really taste like matcha -- kind of that typical light matcha flavor you often find in the U.S. I would've preferred something a bit bolder. I went around noon on a weekday and waited about 5 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad. But it took over 30 minutes for the food to come out after ordering. So yeah... not ideal if you're short on time. ‍ Service was just average -- nothing to complain about, but nothing memorable either. Lots of parking, which is always a plus!

Yelp
The menu was extensive but the service was super slow. I highly recommend getting a reservation if you're coming here for brunch. It totally slipped our minds but luckily my friend who arrived 5 min before I did was able to snag two seats at the bar. Regardless the service was very slow. I almost thought they had forgotten my drink order cause it was about 20 min before it came out. The food took about 30 min. I got the banana bread French toast and the Troublemaker for the drink. Both were very good but I don't think it's waiting 20-30 minutes good. There are definitely many restaurants in Austin with just as good food but way faster service. I would recommend coming here when it's not busy or when you're not really hungry. It also took them 20 minutes to get our checks. If we didn't ask, they probably completely forgotten about us.

Yelp
I had brunch with some friends here on July 4 after a neighborhood parade. They seemed extra festive that day. We had a bit of a wait when we walked in, but they offered us free prosecco while we waited and there was a place to order coffees and pastries at the counter. We were seated near the front door so it was a bit busy but the service was pretty quick and responsive. The whipped juice cocktail was really delicious and fresh! I had the pulled pork benedict with salad which I really enjoyed. I look forward to going back again to try more items!

Yelp
Visited this new Australian cafe on a busy Sunday morning, and was glad to have a reservation. My immediate takeaway was this restaurant is cute but SMALL. My friend and I had a difficult time fitting our dishes and drinks at our two person table and getting out when it was time to leave, but I understand that they are trying to maximize the amount of tables in the small space. We were quickly led to our table and greeted by our server, who consistently came to check on us. My friend ordered a large drip coffee, which came with a good sized carafe, and I had to try a fluffy juice, which they infuse with nitrogen for a unique nitro coffee consistency. The strawberry pineapple glow fluffy juice was awesome, and a must try for any fellow ginger lovers. For food, I ordered the sausage & egg cheddar biscuit sandwich and split the banana & butterscotch waffles with my friend. My friend ordered the cast iron chorizo baked eggs and really liked it. The toasted focaccia was especially good, although I don't know if they make it in-house. I was disappointed in the sausage biscuit sandwich. They were able to sub eggs over easy for the scrambled eggs, which came out more like eggs over hard with no runny center. The biscuit did not come with any tomato jam as listed, and also had ingredients not listed on the menu description-- a lot of jalapeños and spinach, which made the whole biscuit taste like jalapeños even after I noticed and removed them. The cheddar-chive biscuit was good but wholly overpowered by the jalapeños. Citizen's hash browns are like McDonald's hash browns plus seasoning, and were very crispy and on the saltier side. The banana pancake does not have banana puree but is like a normal pancake with some pieces of banana in it. We liked the flavor of the banana & butterscotch pancakes and really enjoyed the carmelized banana, butterscotch sauce, and mascarpone, but thought the pancakes themselves were a little dry. Overall, I like the menu variety and aesthetics of Citizens, but think that the food itself could be better. We were also constantly batting away flies during our meal and afterwards even though we sat inside, so hoping they work on that problem. It was very easy to find parking in the lot around the cafe, which was nice. I think this place has the potential to be great, but they are not there yet.

Yelp
I have a trip planned to Australia in a few months, so I was excited to try this new place in my neighborhood. To be expected, there was an hour wait for brunch on a Sunday, can't fault them for that. They do have a counter to order coffee or a pastry while you wait, so my friend and I got a salted caramel nitro and a blue matcha & lavender nitro and sat out back. I guess if the weather were nicer they could have also sat people out there, there's some tables and chairs and benches. Otherwise inside seating only. After about 45 minutes we checked the bar/counter seats and there were 2 open so we snagged them! Service from start to finish was attentive and friendly. Of course I had to try the vegemite sampler, only $8. We couldn't really taste anything, but maybe they were afraid to put a lot on there and people wouldn't like it. I have tried it before and a little does sure go a long way. We also ordered a fluffy juice and a fluffy cocktail, so good! I was afraid fluffy was going to mean pulpy, but it's not. We loved the blueberry maple pancakes and the chorizo breakfast burrito, perfect for sharing and not too oversized. We would definitely return, the menu is vast and offers something for everyone.

Yelp
You are reminded about 300 times that Citizen's All Day serves Australian breakfast. Their menu in mint green and white proclaims "Dare to Dream of a Better Brekkie" This is cutesy to the point of being saccharine. More so, this is the kind of fake Australian that you get with Crocodile Dundee movies. No breakfast restaurant in Sydney or Melbourne would actually present themselves this way. If Citizens All Day was serving Texas breakfast, they would have waiters in cowboy hats and put horsies on the menu. * * * How are the breakfasts? Meh. To be fair, they serve an outstanding flat white. Flat whites are much abused in Texas with a lot of local places serving a mediocre product. Obviously, Australia gets flat whites right. London gets flat whites right. This place gets flat whites right. Things drop off after that. The drip coffee was poor. Their pancakes are thick and fluffy - which is a legitimate good point. Their flavors run towards the super-sweet. The peanut butter and chocolate version that I had was cloying and filling without being any kind of a treat. I finished mine more out of a sense of duty than pleasure. My wife had an avocado and egg plate that she picked at. In Australia, we have had sweet pancake plates and avocado-egg plates that were to die for. I don't think Citizens could stand up to the competition if they were located in Sydney. * * * Now to be fair, Australia is far away and Citizens is here. Should you go to Citizen's to get an approximation of an Australian breakfast? Frankly, most of the big breakfast chains in Austin will serve you something more or less comparable to an Australian breakfast. Snooze and Another Broken Egg Cafe are not that far off the Australian model. You do have to be willing to take a pass on the flat whites. If you want to do better than Snooze or Another Broken Egg Cafe, Cafe 1431 in Cedar Park will give you an outstanding breakfast that can beat many Australian places as well. Getting to Cedar Park is a lot less expensive than getting to Sydney And you don't have to put up with jet lag afterwards.

Yelp
I spontaneously checked out this spot for breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised! Even though we didn't have a reservation and it was pretty packed, we were able to get seated right away and service was great. Everyone was always really attentive! The booths and decor were cute and I appreciated how unique the menu was too. I really enjoyed the nitro salted caramel latte (but wish it was bigger for the price!) My partner's matcha pineapple drink was also awesome. The food itself was pretty good but again portions didn't feel too big. So 2 plates and maybe a side to share would probably make sense if you are coming in hungry. I'll be back!
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Come all ye citizens for brunch every day until 4pm. It's a little hub of commerce with a mini-market including fresh pastries and cold-brew on-tap/to go. First explory checks out - all the classics plus indulgent details (think Banana Bread French Toast and Banana & Butterscotch Pancakes) nestled into Rosedale. I went for classic Blueberry (pancakes, of course), found them just fluffy enough, balanced with a side of slab bacon. Nitro Nutella Hazelnut Latte is OUT of this WORLD. They could shut down to focus on coffee & to-go and keep it going through another pandemic. Lucky find, will come again!

Yelp
I was really excited for this Australian cafe to open in austin, as someone who loves australian coffee. We admired the aesthetic and our server was sweet. After waiting 30 min for our food and coffee, we both agreed it was kinda disappointing meal. The hashbrowns and eggs were way too oily and salty. The steak was over cooked and low quality meat. Coffee was okay. Hope they figure it out.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The vibe is fun. We loved our waitstaff. The food was tasty and made with care. I do wish the hashbrowns were shredded and not preformed pucks so next time I would get the greens and be healthier for it. The coffee drinks are where they really shine....as good as any coffee house. The tables for 2 are kind of small and crowded in. Next time I will opt for the bar. Worth a repeat, for sure.

Yelp
So i read somewhere that a cafe was going to take over the former Foxtrot location off Burnet and it was an australian inspired all day cafe. I wasn't sure what all day meant - all day breakfast? Well not quite. It's an all day restaurant and so the menu changes from breakfast (brekkie) to lunch/dinner. I think most of the reviews so far are on the breakfast menu so i wasn't sure what to expect for dinner. I came right after happy hour after 6 so i wasn't expecting them to be busy since they just announced they were opening and luckily this place is smart and hasn't invited every food influencer here so i'm hoping this place will be build up popularity organically. They seem to be positioned well for an all day neighborhood restaurant as i was scanning they have specials during the week from a Wednesday wings and wine, Thursday chicken parm, and Fridays for steak frites. The restaurant definitely has a 1970s vibes so you might feel like you are in Austin back in the time of Dazed and Confused. I liked the aesthetic allot. The staff is new and training but they did a pretty good job. Was welcomed when i came in and had the option to sit at the bar or a table. As for drink, they have cocktails as well as special fluffy / whipped cocktails. I got the fluffy pineapple margarita and loved the frothy texture of the cocktail. It was a very tasty drink. For food, I got the steak frites and for $29 i thought it was good value compared to other restaurants in town where this dish is over $30. Its also only $19 on Fridays. The steak frites came with chimchurri sauce too and aioli to dip your fries in. The steak was a meaty cut and i felt satisfied after finishing my meal. Will definitely come here again and try their breakfast; its in the area so i am excited to add this place to my rotation. Also they did a good job transforming this place from an upscale connivence store to an all day cafe.

Yelp
Our server Christopher was so nice! He gave us some great recommendations and the service was speedy.
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Plenty of sweet & savory options, a plethora of bevs and has a chill vibe. I had their pastrami Eggs benny which reminded me of warm biltong and the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had. They're still fairly new and working out some kinks, but overall it's a ''must try".
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Thought we'd try the new place in the neighborhood. The place is cute, but it is really tight seating and was clammy hot like if they had air conditioning issues. Sat at the bar and it seemed like nobody wanted to attend to us. Took them a bit to clear the old plates in front of us. Ordered 2 breakfast plates which were small and expensive. $17.50 for an egg sandwich didn't add up! They also have grab and go tacos that were literally the size of cigar. Seemed like a rolled up tortilla.Don't see myself ever coming back

Yelp
such a cute new spot! all day breakfast through dinner service. farm fresh and locally sourced ingredients and such a cute aesthetic- the wait staff feels like you've known them forever, so sweet and helpful. can't wait to try more of what they offer

Yelp
11/10 It is hard to open a unique concept, brunch spot in a new territory, but if anyone can do it, it's Citizens! I loved this restaurant in NYC, and Austin's location is even better all around! The food options, the flavors, the service (even when it is busy), everything was a delight. Special shout out to Youssef for our first time at the Austin location the wonderful experience

Yelp
We had the best breakfast experience at Citizens All Day this morning! Our party of three adults and three little ones in highchairs definitely brought some energy to the table--but the staff handled everything with such kindness, patience, and genuine warmth that it made the whole experience feel effortless and welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and immediately helped with highchairs and getting everyone settled. The service was attentive, thoughtful, and incredibly accommodating. The food was just as amazing as the service--delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. But truly, it was the incredible staff who made this such a standout experience. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back. Thank you, Citizens team, for going above and beyond

Yelp
I can't wait to come back!! Food and service was amazing, I wanted to order so many different things. Nick & Doug were especially great.

Yelp
This place is fine, not special. Food is tasty but overpriced for what it is, and I don't get what is Australian about it, other than selling vegemite in the back. Decor - they hit millennial chic on the head, with emerald green zellige tiles and grandma chic pillows on the benches. Cushioned bench is cute but not the comfiest. We went on a Sunday evening for an impromptu dinner. The restaurant was not crowded - 3 tables were wrapping up when we arrived and we soon had the place to ourselves. But it was taking forever for the server to come take our order - after about ten minutes waiting at our table (with absolutely disgusting tasting water - OMG buy a new filter please, that is unpalatable) I literally started counting to 60 seconds and we were preparing to leave, but she remembered our existence (despite having walked right by our table no less than 6 times) with 20 seconds left. The chicken schnitzel is tasty but not a schnitzel. Just a fried hunk of chicken breast. If you're not going to bother to pound it flat, change the name to be accurate. The chicken was hiding under many droopy large squares of lettuce smothered in Caesar dressing. I ate a few then finally shoved it aside to find the chicken hiding out. The meal would have been better upside down and called a fried chicken Caesar salad. All tasty enough, but for $24 ... it's just not computing. Husband's fish and chips was fine, but unremarkable. My cocktail was good, if sweet - St Germaine spritz - would happily sip that again at happy hour prices Not blown away. Confused. Wouldn't ever consider inviting our Aussie friends here. I'm not sure we'll be back but hope they can find a way to bump up the execution and make this place special.

Rebekah L.

Yelp
Recommend! Food was delicious, servers were very friendly and kind, and the atmosphere was fun and cute. Negatives there that it was overly crowded with people waiting for their tables almost touching us at our table and the temperature was really warm inside. But definitely worth going (go early or towards the end of brunch to avoid the crowds)
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute place for brunch, the only reason why it's not 5-stars is because of how many flies there were the entire time. Especially on the display of pastries. I really recommend their nitro lattes with a scoop of ice cream for only a dollar more! Banana bread french toast was our favorite, will be returning for girls brunch but hoping there will be less flies as i'm eating.

Linh N.

Yelp
This was a miss for us. No ice in my aperol spritz. Spritz should be served cold not warm. I would pass on the whipped feta. Was expecting more of a dip but it's a spread on top of focaccia bread with the bread being hard. Didn't find value in the $16 Greek salad which was a small plate of cucumbers, banana peppers and feta cheese. They left out the olives and the salad was served warm. The schnitzel was good but found it to be small for the price also.

J N.

Yelp
Enjoyed Citizens today. Excellent service. The atmosphere is nice - relaxing. Like the booths a lot. They are short and comfortable yet somehow feel private, giving the space an open, warm feeling. We accidentally were given an incorrect dish so we had three between the two of us. My eggs benedict with salmon on a cheddar cheese bun was nicely balanced, not heavy and everything tasted homemade. The side salad was refreshing. My husbands dish was also good - avocado toast topped with poached eggs with sides of pickled cabbage and mushrooms plus a hash brown. The hash brown is thin and deep fried making is seem a bit greasy so not my favorite but others might appreciate the crispiness. The eggs were perfectly poached, as were mine. Our extra dish was the burrito and that was excellent. Delicious tortilla that seemed to be homemade, yummy sauce and perfectly balanced inside - just the right amount of egg, cheese and avocado in every bite. We didn't get drinks but they seemed to be popular. We agreed we'd go back for the burrito and to try a pancake dish. They all sounded so good. I mention balance because it's not important to many restaurants who pile on food in a way that every bite gets different ingredients or there is so much sauce the dish gets soggy. Citizen gets it right - they put time and effort into making sure each bite is a good as it can be. That's a good thing.

Yelp
Really low quality and small portions for a questionable price point. Pancakes were cold, dry, and flavorless, so something to consider!

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner and had a nice meal. The staff were all very welcoming. We sat on their patio, which they've done a great job of making the small outdoor space cute and cozy. We tried a few different things on the menu and all were good. We especially liked the brussels sprouts. We will definitely be back to try breakfast. For having only been open for 5 days, we were quite impressed!

Yelp
All the food here was delicious! I came with a group for a birthday celebration, and I thoroughly enjoyed the sides we shared (fries), but the muesli was the highlight. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a healthy breakfast so much, although the Australian style coffee (basically an affogato) probably cancelled that out.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly friendly and the ambiance was nice! Food was okay but not as great as I would expect for the price. The fluffy juices were incredible and definitely the highlight of the visit. My biggest reason for the 3-star rating was the temperature and the wait. It was very busy, so I can somewhat understand a 35 minute wait for food, but it was also incredibly stuffy and hot inside, which made the wait a bit more painful. Would definitely go again if they are able to address these issues!

Yelp
Heard about this place on Tiktok and it looked delicious so dragged a friend out to try it. I had the Nitro Salted Caramel Latte and Pastrami Benny, and we ordered the Chili Crisp Fries w/Aioli. Everything was delicious with really good portion sizes. I did wish the pastrami was cooked a bit more and not so floppy, and maybe the Nitro was just a little bit bigger. I loved the seating as we were sort of forced to talk to our neighbors, which I wasn't keen on at first, they were all very nice. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back was a great experience. My only complaint is as it is an Austrailian cafe, there wasn't a single meat pie on the menu.

Yelp
You have a great opportunity here but the quality of food needs to improve and you need to be more generous. Prices are slightly higher than average, which would be okay if the food was great. It is not. The Avocado toast was skimpy, a very thin smear of avocado, Benedict on a cheddar biscuit was disappointing, the biscuit was flat and salty, and the hash brown is straight from McDonalds. The local trade is going to be critical to survive, and if the quality doesn't improve I think you'll struggle to build a loyal local base. After three visits I'm loathe to go back.

Yelp
RIP Foxtrot. Sat at the bar, all the servers seemed annoyed with each other and the vibe felt off. We were largely ignored by the barista. Food was flavorless and over priced. Ordered the classic breakfast for 15$ to get what seemed like one scrambled egg, two pieces of bacon, and a slice of bland toast. In fairness, other orders looked decent but you shouldn't screw up a staple. It is opening week so perhaps they're figuring it out but nothing about our experience would have us returning. They need to drop the prices or improve the quality. Also, what's with the tables literally up against the entrance?

Yelp
I wanted to like this place (especially since it has happy hour everyday of the week) but couldn't do it due to the disgusting habits of the kitchen. I went last week during HH, sat at the bar and was greeted fairly quickly by the bartender. He proceeded to give me a menu and time to review my options. Before I could even look at all of the food options for HH I observed two cooks in the back constantly rubbing/wiping and stroking their facial hair while proceeding to feed their faces aka eat food. I thought in my head there is no way they are not going to wash their disgusting hands before preparing food...but you guessed it..I was wrong. They immediately started making customers food while joking around and eating more. I wanted to get up right then and leave but decided to order a drink and inform the bartender of what I just saw. He was apologetic and assured me that he would let the manager know right away (which was sitting a couple of feet away frome looking at the cooks too). I heard the bartender relay my concerns to the manager, quietly and discreetly. You would think that a good manager would have gotten up and expressed their sympathies, but NOPE this guy just sat their surfing the net. I quickly drank my nicely prepared cocktail, paid and left to go to a WAY better establishment down the block for HH (peach tortilla)! This place will not be getting any of me or my companies money again.

Yelp
Two friends and I thought we would check out this new Australian restaurant and we are glad we did. The restaurant was bright with a very hip decor. The service couldn't have been better. June was great. She friendly and attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Her menu suggestions were spot on. We started with the Vegemite Experience, which was Vegemite four ways and each was delicious. I had the Eggs Benny Classic; poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and bacon, on their unique cheese biscuits. I wish I had taken a photo of my order, but it wouldn't have conveyed how delicious it tasted. I don't remember what my friends ordered, but they were very pleased with their orders as well. If you can't figure out what to order, order the Banana Bread French Toast! You won't regret it. They also have a little 'grocery' where you can buy an interesting variety of items, including Vegemite, and fresh bake goods.

Yelp
So good! We had a mix up with our order and it took a good while, but the manager Vic fixed everything, and even gave us free dessert for the mix up. Super friendly and attentive! Fun, laid back neighborhood vibe and definitely excellent service. We tried the affogato and whipped Paloma which were both terrific. Highly recommend!

Yelp
First time trying Citizens, and we'll definitely be back! The food was excellent and the waiter and owner were so friendly. We got fluffy pancakes, banana bread French toast and BBQ eggs Benedict, all were outstanding and the portions were ample, without being excessive.

Yelp
Spicy shrimp toast and vodka parma were good. Do not recommend the whipped feta. Slow service (but kind servers) and too hot inside of the restaurant. Cute vibes.

Yelp
Fun neighborhood cafe. Everyone is so nice there and the food is delicious. We had brunch and the banana bread French toast and the cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwich! Both fantastic! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I rarely write a bad review. And let me start by saylung that our service was fantastic! But the rest of the experience was not good. The decorof the space is fine. Mod but cozy. It was unpleasantly warm inside. The food was below average. The sourdough bread was highly encouraged and it had zero sourdough taste. Was toasted hard as a rock. The classic breakfast was lacking And overpriced. Bacon was greasy. The WORST thing was that it was infested with flies. We sat against a wall where there were 10-15 flies on the mirror. And all the windowsills had tons of flies. I know it's new and maybe can get these issues resolved. But I won't be back for quite awhile.
