The Most Exciting Austin Restaurant Openings, May 2025 | Eater Austin

"An Australian all-day cafe that serves breakfast until 4 p.m., offering authentic touches like Vegemite flights and the Big Brekkie (poached eggs, multigrain toast, bacon, chicken sausage, smashed avocado, chorizo baked beans, and hash browns) alongside Texan-friendly items such as banana bread French toast. The location functions as an all-day spot with deli-style lunch offerings (Reuben, tuna salad, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on open-faced rye) and a dinner menu from 6 p.m. featuring gastro pub dishes like vodka sauce chicken Parmesan, fish and chips, and short rib ragu pappardelle; initial promotions include 50% off during the first month and a Wednesday wings-and-wine special ($6 wings and half-price wines)." - Courtney E. Citizens - Review - Rosedale - Austin - The Infatuation

"Citizen is part of Austin’s tiny embassy of Australian-themed restaurants and bars (along with Two Hands, Proud Mary, Aussie’s, and The Flower Shop), This is an all-day cafe where you can get Vegemite flights, fish and chips, smashed avocado benedicts, cocktails, and more. It’s located on Burnet Road, across from the original Pinthouse Pizza. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

We accidentally came across CAD this evening prior to a dinner party where we were to provide spaghetti and meatballs. It required that we take a trip to Central Market for some authentic Italian semolina spaghetti. I figured we had enough time to have an app and a glass of wine prior to visiting CM. On impulse we stopped by CAD because we saw the sign. We had some calamari and some Korean BBQ wings, a glass of wine and a Fluffy Paloma. The server made a mistake and gave us 2 glasses of wine and a Paloma. No complaints as it was a nice surprise. The calamari was perfectly cooked, still moist and tender and the sauce a perfect accompaniment. The BBQ wings were also perfectly. Our waitress was Sia, she was from Pennsylvania and awesome. What impressed most was her considerate and friendly conversation with the cooks (in Spanish!). It happens to be that Citizens all Day also has provisions items for purchase and in addition to Momu Fuku, authentic Chicago Giardiniera relish and other items which eliminated our trip to central market as they also had authentic 100% durum semolina spaghetti so, we had another glass of wine and eliminated our trip to central market. 🙂 Finally, their banana bread was a blend of spice cake and banana bread (both our favorites!). Very affordable and unique. Their brunch menu looks awesome, we will be back this week for sure… We highly recommend and will be back many times!

A Taste of Australia in the Heart of Austin! I just had brunch at this new Australian-style spot in Austin, and wow — what a find! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was bright, relaxed, and welcoming, just what you want for a weekend brunch. The mimosas were perfectly balanced — not too sweet, with fresh orange juice that actually tasted freshly squeezed. They kept them coming without ever feeling rushed. For food, I tried the steak and eggs, and it was easily one of the best brunch plates I’ve had in Austin. The steak was cooked exactly to order, juicy and tender, paired with perfectly seasoned eggs and crispy potatoes on the side. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients. I also sampled the Cajun pasta, and it was incredible — creamy, a little spicy, and full of flavor without being too heavy. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want to come back the next day just to have it again. Overall, everything from the service to the plating to the vibe was on point. It’s rare to find a place that nails both the food and the experience this well right out of the gate. Definitely my new go-to brunch spot in Austin.

Google
Devin is fabulous! Attentive and sometimes ninja like. He would come by to refresh water and I didn’t even know he’d been there. Patient with our many questions, and didn’t mind that we like to sit and “graze” …round of drinks and apps then a main dish, more drinks and apps, etc. Great service! We love this place and will definitely be back! If you haven’t been here, get here.

Google
This place was an instant favorite for me. The food, the vibe, service, quality, everything was 5/5. We arrived for breakfast at about 8:30 and managed to find seating inside. There's patio seating available as well. We fell in love with the vibe, decor and the 90s music playing in the background. I unfortunately cannot remember the name of the gentleman who helped us with ordering food but he was welcoming and very helpful. We ordered the green goddess shakshuka, banana French toast, chai latte, drip coffee and eggs Benny classic. We were delighted by how tasteful and fresh everything was. Definitely coming back with family!

Google
This was an absolute 5/5 experience all around! From the second we walked in the door until we were leaving. Christopher was our waiter and he was beyond what we could have expected! He gave amazing recommendations and set the tone from the second he sat us down! Offering little twists so we could get the whole experience since it was our first time in citizens and in town! All of the food was excellent, light and excellent food pairing and the presentation was the icing on the cake! Overall a really pleasant experience and would recommend coming here 100 times and to ask for Christopher!!!! You will NOT be disappointed!

Google
The food was amazing and well worth it but be aware this is a busy spot. We went around mid-day on a Sunday and it took 45 minutes to get our drinks. The food came shortly after that. The atmosphere was great, and they gave us free mimosa tasters while we waited to make up for it. Our server Natan took care of it and I’d for sure go back but maybe at a quieter time.

Google
Such a cute spot for brunch/lunch in the Rosedale area. There was a group of 5 of us with reservations at 11:15 am for our department Holiday Brunch. When we arrived a little early, we were greeted so pleasantly and we were seated right away. Our server Nick was the nicest person, very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended his favs and answered all our questions. The food was delicious! I ordered the Salmon Eggs, but with scrambled eggs and a side of smashed avocado. It all tasted so good together. My coworkers ordered the French toast, the classic breakfast, the pulled pork Benny and the cheddar biscuit brekkie sandwich. We also ordered the Vegemite Experience for a taste of Australia. We had mixed views. I absolutely loved all the flavors! Also Nick surprised us (complimentary) with his favorite food item... Banana Bread French Toast!! It did not disappoint...so moist and delicious!! I also loved the Pineberry Fluffy juice, the kick of ginger was so awesome. We will definitely be back to try other menu items! Can't wait to try the chicken and waffles.

Google
Devin was the perfect amount of check-in and let us enjoy the experience. The food was the best brunch I’ve had in idk how long. I went with the holy trinity of coffee, michelada, and water. The music is at a perfect level and the decor was really cool! Plenty of parking too

Yelp
A must-try in Austin! I was in Austin visiting a friend and we were looking for a nice lunch spot. One of the friends in the group is going to Australia in 2027 so we had to check this place out! There is easy parking right in front of the restaurant. Which if you've been to Austin, you know, parking can be a challenge, especially downtown. When you walk in, the vibes are retro diner but with a modern twist. There are plants hanging from the ceiling and a giant wrap around bar right in the middle. We were seated right away and knew we had to try the Vegemite Flight. I've never had Vegemite before and thought it was too salty for my taste. But I am glad I can now say I've tried it! I got the chicken caesar salad and it was delicious! Everyone else at the table loved what they ordered. The part that stood out the most was the service. Our server was outstanding and so attentive! I would definitely recommend trying this place out if you're in Austin!

Yelp
The Good: I came here for a goodbye brunch with my husband and MIL before she flew back home. the service was friendly and provided good recs as a first-timer, we were able to get seated quickly without a reservation. There is a lot more seating than you may initially think because they have a patio on the side and even covered seating in the back. As for food, I liked the citrus revival fluffy drink and the banana bread French toast. The Bad: we sat on the patio and there were a lot of flies, which became a nuisance. I wish they would have turned on the fans to help scatter them. At the end, we saw another table with the fly swatter. It would have been nice to know they were available. Also the service became slower after we ordered and got our food. My hubby got the breakfast burrito and my MIL got the salmon Benny. They both liked their food. He also got the hash browns and I thought they were plain by themselves and good with the sauce provided. I ordered the Green Goddess, but it didn't come. When I first asked about it, they said it would be right out. Luckily, we had ordered the banana bread French toast to share so I had something. But, the Green Goddess never arrived. When the server came to check in, I told them to cancel it as we were almost done eating. And that was it, they apologized but didn't do anything else to rectify that they literally forgot a whole meal after I inquired about it and they claimed it would be right out.

Yelp
4.5 stars! Very friendly, attentive and quick service. Casual and cute indoor space. Came in a Saturday and was surprisingly not packed. Parking was very easy, lots of space. The whipped feta was very generous with its toppings. Highly recommend the coconut curry, very creamy and also generous portions. I took the spicy peppers off and it still had plenty of flavor! Churro donut was very light and perfect end to the dinner! Lots of unique options to choose from, something for everyone. Come give them some love!

Yelp
So I don't realize that this was the same citizens as the one in Houston. I thought it was really good. My mom and I went and both got the pulled pork Benny. It was so good. We both got lattes that were delicious and the pineapple green juice was super good! Service was quick and good. Coffees did take awhile but we were not in a hurry. Cute, fun decor. I would definitely go again.

Yelp
Came in yesterday with a group of friends. We were all pretty equally unimpressed with the food unfortunately. The banana bread french toast was a star but everything else was just okay. I got the regular benedict and the biscuit wasn't very good. Our friends got the skillet and the shakshuka and they both were not tasty and cold despite being in a dutch oven. I was going to try the deli part but it wasn't on the menu. I do have to say our server, a make UT student, was fantastic and he made the experience great.

Yelp
Found the place on Resy while looking to use the Amex Platinum credit. This is a quaint little place on the corner with decent menu choices, good food, and excellent service. I got the old-fashioned, and wifey got a margarita. Both were good. The chicken wings were ok, but the chicken bowl was delicious, and the pasta was nice

Yelp
The retro diner vibe, decor, and atmosphere is fun and unique. Our service was friendly and welcoming, which added to the great experience. The menu has tons of options like the fluffy pancakes and the eggs Benedict. There were fluffy fresh juices and the coffee was smooth with nitro options too. Plus, there's a free parking lot right out front for easy access.

Yelp
This place is bright and welcoming, kind of has the vibe of a classic diner, very cute. The hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and helpful with our questions about the menu. The house made ginger beer was absolutely delicious! I would come back here just for that. I loved the fresh slice of lemon in it, and it was lemony and gingery without being overly sweet. I ordered the salmon eggs on gluten free toast without the green goddess dressing. Everything was cooked perfectly, though the fresh pickled onions weren't pickled enough. They still had a raw onion flavor. The hash brown was crispy with good potato flavor. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
I tried the Houston location first and really loved it. Was excited to check out the Austin one but it just wasn't the same. There were also so many flies touching the pastries and the restaurant just made me feel icky. Shakshouka is good but I just wanted to get out of there.
google avatar

Yelp
Make a reservation if you want to come here. You can do so on the Resy app or website. It is a small restaurant with a bar counter. There are a few larger tables for larger parties but not many. I came here on a Sunday and it was crowded. Glad that I made reservations. It took maybe 15 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was loud due to the number of people inside the restaurant plus the loud music going on that the restaurant was playing. The waitress was nice and funny, making jokes about how loud it was and if we needed her to just wave since she might not hear us. I got the chicken and waffle. Sadly, the waffle was burned and overcooked. The chicken, on the other hand, was moist and flavorful. I also got a nitro salted caramel latte which was nice and smooth. Overall, the restaurant was not bad. If it weren't too loud and the waffle was not burned, it would have been a better experience.

Yelp
Super nice brunch! The baked eggs I got were sooo flavorful and having the well-made focaccia with it was the cherry on top. They also gave us a banana bread French toast on the house which was super sweet! The only note I would mention is that it got pretty loud, so I'd come with friends but not to study. Parking was great.

Yelp
Beautiful space, chic, warm, and inviting. Service is relaxed but friendly. Food is simple but prepared well with quality ingredients. Got the mushroom risotto which was cooked well (not too al dente which I don't like but not mushy either) and the rigatoni alla vodka which was tasty. Also got the whipped feta for an appetizer and this was a huge portion, enough so that we had leftovers to take home. Overall, great experience.
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
Visited Citizens and overall had a good experience. I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which was flavorful and well-cooked, but the plate it came on was too small, so I found myself digging through a pile of greens just to get to it. I also tried the chicken parm vodka, which was delicious and had great texture, but the addition of pesto on top felt unnecessary and a bit confusing. Still, the food was enjoyable enough for a solid 4-star visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Holy cow! One of the best brunch spots I've been to in a while. The service, food, ambiance was all amazing. Big, hearty and tasty portions! The banana bread french toast and smoked salmon benny was FANTASTIC!!! Must' try the nitro salted caramel coffee too! The perfect jolt pick me up!!! Grab some friends and share away!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for dinner. You can make reservations on resy. They also have a free parking lot in front. The space was well decorated and modern. I ordered the chicken Parmesan which came with an arugula salad and fries which I thought was a strange combination in addition to a pesto sauce on top of the chicken. Overall I thought my dish isn't your traditional chicken Parmesan. My biggest peeve was that there was so much olive oil on my plate either from the pesto sauce or most likely the salad. So much so that my plate was covered in olive oil. To make matters worse as I was packing up my leftovers to go I spilled some of the olive oil liquid onto my jeans. My boyfriend ordered the chicken cutlet which had a side of Caesar salad. However they placed it on top of his meal which made it very awkward to eat. Overall the food tasted fine and was a large sized portion.
google avatar

Eina D.

Yelp
This place takes reservations, but I was able to walk in Saturday morning and got seated right away. The place is really cute and there was plenty of parking in the lot. I got the cast iron chorizo baked eggs and they were fine. They came in a cute little pot with bread to dip in. Don't sleep on the nitro salted caramel latte. It was delicious! Lots of options on the menu so will definitely need to come back and try more.
google avatar

Yelp
There is a parking lot and a lot next door that you can also park. We had a reservation for brunch but didn't get seated until about 15-20 minutes past our reservation time. This place was busy!! Every table was taken. Cocktails: The Troublemaker was so refreshing! The Blueberry Jam Sour was also very good. Main dish: I had the BBQ Pulled Pork Benny with the hashbrowns and thought it was very yummy! It's a popular dish according to their menu.
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
Immediately we were enamored with the interior design of the restaurant, with quirky space wall paper and thoughtfully planned furniture. The servers were friendly enough. The blueberry pancakes were so fluffy and easily devoured. What I ordered originally wasn't available so I went with a breakfast sandwich that came with arugula salad. It was all delicious.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday about 1;15 and it was hoppin busy~ we did get seated in about 15 minutes, inside so worked out fine. My daughter ordered the Greek salad & a Michalada (beer & tomato juice) her salad wasn't really a salad as it had NO lettace...., lots & lots of cucumbers, Greek black olives, chicken, onions , feta etc. quite large however all the veggies were different sizes as an example the cucumbers were served skin on & cut 1/4 discs sooo kinda odd cutting these into bite size pieces. The flavors were all there in plenty of dressing just more time prepping would have made this a more pleasant dining experience ~ the Michalada was very good served with Modelo beer My order was the Avo Smash on a chive biscuit, (which was undercooked doughy in the middle) scrambled eggs, avocado served on a plate with beet hummus schmere. I am not a beet fan asked for it to be omitted the server mentioned it as a light pain on the plate~ it was beautifully presented but I should have stayed with my first thought to omit~ it wasn't a complimentary flavor imo. Lots of avo choices when I return ( and I will) I will order the Avo smash on 9 grain bread . Come with greens or hash browns somehow I got both ‍. My drink order was the " Fluffy " pineapple margarita" also quite nice, maybe a bit sweet (also a bit spicy as it had a slice of red pepper in it) but that didn't bother me either. We did share a side order of fries (chips if you're Down Under) and these are served with chicken salt & yuzu aioli =EXCELLENTLY prepared Some hits & misses on this visit, but we'll be back for sure
google avatar

Yelp
The pancakes were very thick and somewhat fluffy the blueberry compote and maple syrup made the combination great. I did realize half way through that it was entirely too much food and these are enough to split amongst three people! The pancakes seemed a little too dense and not as airy/ fluffy as I would have assumed but it was a nice time to try them. The service was excellent the staff cleaned up and placed orders and brought food out promptly. The restaurant had a nice diner like scene kept clean. Music was great and plenty of seating inside and outside with covered areas.

Yelp
A cute aesthetic cafe that took over the former location of Foxtrot. I came by myself on my day off and was immediately seated in a little corner near the front window of the cafe for breakfast. When you step in, it gives you a diner feel with lots of foliage and character. Also, in the right-hand corner of the restaurant, there's a billboard showing where all the food is sourced from locally. The service staff was super friendly but also seemed like they were all just getting into the grove of things, as they all interchanged roles from host/hostess to server throughout the course of service. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict per recommendation of the server and a vanilla oatmilk latte. The menu is marketed as australian, however, a lot of the items seem to be moreso American breakfast staple items. I can't attest to the lunch and dinner items. My food came out promptly and was simple but delicious, my only complaint is how tall the biscuits are that the poached eggs and smoked salmon sit on. It makes it really difficult to eat the benedict and probably fairly unattractive if your on a date with someone else stuffing that amount of food into your mouth in one bite. I would come back here again to try more items from the menu and also to try out the lunch and dinner items in the future.
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
This aesthetic cafe is great for people who appreciate good service and cute vibes. As for the food, they offer a wide selection, so you can find something for everyone. That said, it's not a must-visit spot for me. We came for Sunday brunch around 11am. My friend made the reservation but could only book a table for two. Surprisingly, when we arrived, they seated us at a table for four. Unfortunately, we got a table near the entrance, which meant flies were constantly hovering over our food and drinks. Since it's an Australian cafe and I had read a review that said the Flat White was the only standout item, I knew I had to try it. I ordered the flat white with whole milk, but it was underwhelming. The coffee lacked strong flavor, and the milk wasn't particularly creamy. To be fair, I usually prefer a cappuccino so a flat white's ratio might just not be to my taste. When it was brought to our table, the server spilled some on the saucer and didn't acknowledge it-which felt a bit careless. The Cheddar Biscuit Brekkie Sandwich was one of the better dishes we tried. The biscuit was different from others I've had-it was thin and fluffy, which paired nicely with the egg and bacon. The hash brown tasted as delicious as it looked. The Blueberry & Maple pancakes were soft and beautifully presented, but a bit on the dry side. They held their shape well though. Our server was super fun and playful, and you can tell he was enjoying his shift. He was easy to chat with and helped make the experience more enjoyable. There's also a small lot by the restaurant with free parking, which is nice. Overall, the food didn't blow me away, but the cafe has a versatile menu and a charming atmosphere. With so many options, the menu can feel a bit overwhelming and I'm not quite sure what their standout item is. That said, the drink menu looks intriguing so I would consider coming back to try those items.

Yelp
Came to Citizens All Day for lunch. It is definitely well themed as a modern Australian café. Seems like a lot of thought went into the branding, menu design, and interior. The host even had an Aussie accent! I had the Hot Honey Turkey Sandwich, which was solid flavor-wise but the bread was a bit stale. Chicken & Waffles was delicious but the portion size was on the small side for the price. We both got water and had to ask a couple times for refills. No ice, maybe that is an Australian thing? The Matcha Latte was fine, and they had something called Blue Matcha on the menu. I asked what it was and our server wasn't too sure. He said it might be made with butterfly pea flower but didn't seem confident. No extra napkins offered besides the one that came on the table with out silverware. The little details like that add up. Honestly, if they put as much attention into the food and service as they did the menu design and decor, this place would be an easy 5-stars.

Sheyla R.

Yelp
The food was very good and the ambiance was good -- great place for a brunch date. However, the service was crazy slow. It took like 30 minutes to get our coffees and an hour to get our food. Meanwhile the parties next to us, who were bigger parties that arrived 20-30 min later than us, got their food way sooner. So I don't know if what we ordered just takes longer? It was also Saturday at brunch time so probably peak hour. If you have time to spare, would recommend!

Yelp
Came here for a Friday breakfast/brunch with a friend. All of the photos made me interested to try. Like most restaurants on Burnet parking is stiff and lots are pretty small so get in where you fit in. We were seated quickly. This is not the place for large groups, the vibe is boutique diner so tables are close and don't dare think you will have a private conversation...you're so close to each other. The ambiance is so charming and the bar is open seating so you can get the true cafe feel. The menu is overwhelming even with no pictures. I chose chicken and waffles but subbed the waffle for French toast. My fav takeaway is the buttery maple syrup. I was disappointed in the chicken portion. The meal was about $17 and it was served with a chicken cutlet. Not wings or a breast which would have made up for the price point. The tables a very small and everything is served on individual plates so it was awkward trying to manage our food. I wish the service was better. Our server was overly chatty to other tables and staff and our hot drinks sat at the pick up area so long they came to the table cold. I had to send it back and request a remake. Even then the server never checked on the drink. When our food was up I had to ask that it be brought over. We also had a burger and each a single pancake. With the sticky meals I made a request for paper towels or napkins twice that never came. I had to use salt and pepper packets in my purse because that also never came. It was not overly busy I just feel our server was not attentive and maybe not very competent. At the end we sat and waited for a check to then find while we were still sitting at the table the server started clearing and wiping our table...WHERE IS THE CHECK!!!??? Everything was more important than pleasing the customer. Outside of the bad server the food was great. I'd come back but I'd immediately ask for a different server who did less chatting and paid attention to orders up and customer needs like napkins, drink orders, and the check.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience at Citizens All Day in Austin! The fluffy pancakes were absolutely incredible--light, soft, and perfectly cooked. The real standout was the butter pancake syrup, which was so rich and delicious it took the whole dish to another level. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in Austin and craving a great breakfast! #toddlerfriendly

Yelp
Overpriced dinner. I felt that I was paying for ambiance. Maybe I picked the wrong thing. Had the harissa salad but replaced chicken with shrimp. The shrimps were the shitty little frozen that had just been steamed with no flavor, not the usual kind you'd expect on a saladx The flavor profile was not my fave - too spicy. It looked pretty but I basically powered thru eating it since I didn't want it to go to waste but didn't want to finish it. The juice was fine. Not sure why it need to be called fuzzy. I would not come back and would definitely never wait in a long line for this place. Maybe ppl like it for boozy Instagram brunch and sweet pancakes? No one else there seemed to be enjoying their time. It seemed like couples and families in the neighborhood who didn't care it was overpriced who were there, or ppl like me who it was there first time. The waitstaff was not engaged but not bad. The kitchen messed up my order the first time. Weird vibes. Maybe just not for me ? I don't get what people see in this place.

Yelp
After shopping at Central market with a buddy, I treated him to breakfast at the new Citizens All Day on Burnet. It's pretty new and attractively decorated inside. Originally from Australia, this is the first one in Austin. Not sure how many there are in the United States. Service was prompt, although the coffee took an awful a long time. I ordered the Pastrami Benny which is smoked pastrami, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, on cheddar biscuits.. The smoked pastrami was very difficult to cut and chew. Not a great combination for me. The coffee was excellent, however a refill took forever. Give it a try and see what you think.

Yelp
Grabbed lunch while in Austin at Citizens. I ordered a whipped cocktail because I had to find out what it was! I got a Paloma and it was very good. The texture kind of felt like a smoothie, but it tasted like a Paloma! I also got the Reuben, and it was delish! I would definitely go back and order the same thing!
google avatar

Bailey R.

Yelp
Atmosphere and service here were amazing! The decor is top notch and soo cute! Our waiter, June, was amazing! They were so helpful and friendly and made our experience even better. I ordered a yummy latte and the salmon Benedict and my son got the pancakes. The biscuit was a little cold and my dish was a 4/5 but my son's pancakes were soo fluffy and delish! I also got the banana bread French toast and def recommend them!
google avatar

Lisa O.

Yelp
Their menu is a hot mess and misnomered. I ordered the pulled pork gluten free sandwich but they've since removed it from their menu and haven't updated the menus hanging at the cashier. I ordered a gluten free smoked turkey sandwich to go, and the bartender gave me a hot honey turkey sandwich instead. I tried calling and no one picked up. I think the smoked turkey sandwich has since been renamed to turkey pesto sandwich but they haven't updated their menus. There definitely wasn't any pesto in my sandwich, just a spicy red spread. Plus there was provolone in my sandwich, and the turkey pesto didn't list any cheese in its ingredients. I don't know why the pictures have a side of potato chips with their sandwich. My sandwich didn't come with any potato chips. No one offered me a glass of water while I waited fifteen minutes with a baby. I'm not sure why I tipped 15% for lousy service.

Yelp
Pretty dang good!! Fabulous service. The wait staff was amazing. So friendly, outgoing, but also quick and very aware of anything you need. Happy hour prices were also a good deal. Big serving sizes for very reasonable prices. Drinks around $5-$10 and appetizers $9-$15. However, the portions are large!!!!! Korean chicken wings were $9 and was 3 large pieces of chicken, I was impressed. Atmosphere was very cool as well. Lots of seating space, lots of available parking outdoors, and just good vibes all around!

Yelp
Everything here was wonderful! From the service (excellent) to the food and the vibe! Excited that it is near my house!

Yelp
This is a cool new Australian place that just opened on burnet road! The interior is well done and the vibes are good (although they need to turn the overhead lights down sooner, I felt like I was in Kerbey Lane with how bright it was in there). We came for dinner and the food was good, but this is probably more of a breakfast place. The drinks were fantastic! Love the whipped/fluffy drinks! I would come back just for apps and drinks. The Golden Hour was the fan favorite at our table, but the fluffy pineapple was really good too. The service was a bit odd (which is sometimes an Australian bit??) but we overall liked our server and he was funny, he just missed a few things and didn't know the menu super well. It seems the servers and managers have some misunderstandings about gluten free options that need to be ironed out. I was told the rigatoni could be made gluten free, then was told the manager said it might not be gf, so I just ordered a salad bowl to be safe. It would be great (and on brand for Australia) if they had good gf substitutions, but with the current lack of understanding I wouldn't feel comfortable eating here anytime soon if I was full celiac.

Yelp
You are reminded about 300 times that Citizen's All Day serves Australian breakfast. Their menu in mint green and white proclaims "Dare to Dream of a Better Brekkie" This is cutesy to the point of being saccharine. More so, this is the kind of fake Australian that you get with Crocodile Dundee movies. No breakfast restaurant in Sydney or Melbourne would actually present themselves this way. If Citizens All Day was serving Texas breakfast, they would have waiters in cowboy hats and put horsies on the menu. * * * How are the breakfasts? Meh. To be fair, they serve an outstanding flat white. Flat whites are much abused in Texas with a lot of local places serving a mediocre product. Obviously, Australia gets flat whites right. London gets flat whites right. This place gets flat whites right. Things drop off after that. The drip coffee was poor. Their pancakes are thick and fluffy - which is a legitimate good point. Their flavors run towards the super-sweet. The peanut butter and chocolate version that I had was cloying and filling without being any kind of a treat. I finished mine more out of a sense of duty than pleasure. My wife had an avocado and egg plate that she picked at. In Australia, we have had sweet pancake plates and avocado-egg plates that were to die for. I don't think Citizens could stand up to the competition if they were located in Sydney. * * * Now to be fair, Australia is far away and Citizens is here. Should you go to Citizen's to get an approximation of an Australian breakfast? Frankly, most of the big breakfast chains in Austin will serve you something more or less comparable to an Australian breakfast. Snooze and Another Broken Egg Cafe are not that far off the Australian model. You do have to be willing to take a pass on the flat whites. If you want to do better than Snooze or Another Broken Egg Cafe, Cafe 1431 in Cedar Park will give you an outstanding breakfast that can beat many Australian places as well. Getting to Cedar Park is a lot less expensive than getting to Sydney And you don't have to put up with jet lag afterwards.

Yelp
The menu was extensive but the service was super slow. I highly recommend getting a reservation if you're coming here for brunch. It totally slipped our minds but luckily my friend who arrived 5 min before I did was able to snag two seats at the bar. Regardless the service was very slow. I almost thought they had forgotten my drink order cause it was about 20 min before it came out. The food took about 30 min. I got the banana bread French toast and the Troublemaker for the drink. Both were very good but I don't think it's waiting 20-30 minutes good. There are definitely many restaurants in Austin with just as good food but way faster service. I would recommend coming here when it's not busy or when you're not really hungry. It also took them 20 minutes to get our checks. If we didn't ask, they probably completely forgotten about us.

Yelp
I had brunch with some friends here on July 4 after a neighborhood parade. They seemed extra festive that day. We had a bit of a wait when we walked in, but they offered us free prosecco while we waited and there was a place to order coffees and pastries at the counter. We were seated near the front door so it was a bit busy but the service was pretty quick and responsive. The whipped juice cocktail was really delicious and fresh! I had the pulled pork benedict with salad which I really enjoyed. I look forward to going back again to try more items!

Yelp
I have a trip planned to Australia in a few months, so I was excited to try this new place in my neighborhood. To be expected, there was an hour wait for brunch on a Sunday, can't fault them for that. They do have a counter to order coffee or a pastry while you wait, so my friend and I got a salted caramel nitro and a blue matcha & lavender nitro and sat out back. I guess if the weather were nicer they could have also sat people out there, there's some tables and chairs and benches. Otherwise inside seating only. After about 45 minutes we checked the bar/counter seats and there were 2 open so we snagged them! Service from start to finish was attentive and friendly. Of course I had to try the vegemite sampler, only $8. We couldn't really taste anything, but maybe they were afraid to put a lot on there and people wouldn't like it. I have tried it before and a little does sure go a long way. We also ordered a fluffy juice and a fluffy cocktail, so good! I was afraid fluffy was going to mean pulpy, but it's not. We loved the blueberry maple pancakes and the chorizo breakfast burrito, perfect for sharing and not too oversized. We would definitely return, the menu is vast and offers something for everyone.

Yelp
We came in on a Sunday with no reservation and still got seated right away. We sat outside which was very nice a good place to have conversations. We ordered the shakshuka and it was very good it was a bit bitter for me but that's how is supposed to be. The Bloody Mary was strong in terms of spice so I did have to add water to it.

Yelp
This is a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant, with great booth seating, beautiful tiling and furnishings, and an eye-catching mural outside. While the restaurant markets itself online as Australian, the menu felt more like an American fusion with Asian and Mediterranean influences. I ordered the calamari which was excellent and worth the $14. I also had the miso chicken bowl, which was flavorful, satisfying, and still felt light and healthy.

Yelp
So i read somewhere that a cafe was going to take over the former Foxtrot location off Burnet and it was an australian inspired all day cafe. I wasn't sure what all day meant - all day breakfast? Well not quite. It's an all day restaurant and so the menu changes from breakfast (brekkie) to lunch/dinner. I think most of the reviews so far are on the breakfast menu so i wasn't sure what to expect for dinner. I came right after happy hour after 6 so i wasn't expecting them to be busy since they just announced they were opening and luckily this place is smart and hasn't invited every food influencer here so i'm hoping this place will be build up popularity organically. They seem to be positioned well for an all day neighborhood restaurant as i was scanning they have specials during the week from a Wednesday wings and wine, Thursday chicken parm, and Fridays for steak frites. The restaurant definitely has a 1970s vibes so you might feel like you are in Austin back in the time of Dazed and Confused. I liked the aesthetic allot. The staff is new and training but they did a pretty good job. Was welcomed when i came in and had the option to sit at the bar or a table. As for drink, they have cocktails as well as special fluffy / whipped cocktails. I got the fluffy pineapple margarita and loved the frothy texture of the cocktail. It was a very tasty drink. For food, I got the steak frites and for $29 i thought it was good value compared to other restaurants in town where this dish is over $30. Its also only $19 on Fridays. The steak frites came with chimchurri sauce too and aioli to dip your fries in. The steak was a meaty cut and i felt satisfied after finishing my meal. Will definitely come here again and try their breakfast; its in the area so i am excited to add this place to my rotation. Also they did a good job transforming this place from an upscale connivence store to an all day cafe.

Yelp
Super cute Aussie-inspired café! The exterior is absolutely adorable -- total Instagram spot. The inside was smaller than I expected, but still super charming with cozy decor. The miso chicken salad was decent -- nice and light if that's what you're in the mood for. The matcha latte didn't really taste like matcha -- kind of that typical light matcha flavor you often find in the U.S. I would've preferred something a bit bolder. I went around noon on a weekday and waited about 5 minutes to be seated, which wasn't bad. But it took over 30 minutes for the food to come out after ordering. So yeah... not ideal if you're short on time. ‍ Service was just average -- nothing to complain about, but nothing memorable either. Lots of parking, which is always a plus!

Yelp
Plenty of sweet & savory options, a plethora of bevs and has a chill vibe. I had their pastrami Eggs benny which reminded me of warm biltong and the hollandaise sauce was the best I've ever had. They're still fairly new and working out some kinks, but overall it's a ''must try".

Yelp
I spontaneously checked out this spot for breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised! Even though we didn't have a reservation and it was pretty packed, we were able to get seated right away and service was great. Everyone was always really attentive! The booths and decor were cute and I appreciated how unique the menu was too. I really enjoyed the nitro salted caramel latte (but wish it was bigger for the price!) My partner's matcha pineapple drink was also awesome. The food itself was pretty good but again portions didn't feel too big. So 2 plates and maybe a side to share would probably make sense if you are coming in hungry. I'll be back!

Yelp
I'll have to figure out when to come when it's not busy. Somehow managed it upon my first actual visit, but usually when I pass by (and it's open) Citizens looks jammed. Parking is pretty limited, but I've managed to find a spot on the lot every time. The layout is pretty open, and I'm a blue fan; but, I'd prefer to keep sitting out on the deck. This place will definitely be on the comfort food/brunch list. I enjoyed the classic breakfast with salmon, but my favorite is the oats and berries dish--Blueberry & Coconut Bircher Muesli. I definitely want to try the french toast my mom had at some point. (Syndney was a great host to us when Mom indulged on her birthday. ;)). The little corner I tried was tasty, so I think it was just a good choice in general. ;p

Yelp
Come all ye citizens for brunch every day until 4pm. It's a little hub of commerce with a mini-market including fresh pastries and cold-brew on-tap/to go. First explory checks out - all the classics plus indulgent details (think Banana Bread French Toast and Banana & Butterscotch Pancakes) nestled into Rosedale. I went for classic Blueberry (pancakes, of course), found them just fluffy enough, balanced with a side of slab bacon. Nitro Nutella Hazelnut Latte is OUT of this WORLD. They could shut down to focus on coffee & to-go and keep it going through another pandemic. Lucky find, will come again!

Yelp
I was really excited for this Australian cafe to open in austin, as someone who loves australian coffee. We admired the aesthetic and our server was sweet. After waiting 30 min for our food and coffee, we both agreed it was kinda disappointing meal. The hashbrowns and eggs were way too oily and salty. The steak was over cooked and low quality meat. Coffee was okay. Hope they figure it out.

Yelp
First time here and I know this is mostly a breakfast spot but they offer a nice dinner menu so we thought we would give it a try. $21.50 for a Greek salad that was as disappointing as it gets. Some kind of chicken tinga vs grilled chicken. The serving was the size of a side salad. There was no hint of a Greek dressing in it either. Maybe just an off nite or salad is not their thing. I come from restaurant operations so feel they could use some help at least on this menus item.

Yelp
The atmosphere is cute , the wait staff is amazing but the food was just mehhhhh to me. We did get eggs Benedict with salmon , fluffy pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon and the waiter said the breakfast burrito is amazing so we placed our order food came Out promptly . But it lacked in the taste , would not go back.
