"We’ll tell you that Citizens of Chelsea isn’t an avocado farm in Michoacán. We’ll also tell you that about two-thirds of the breakfast menu here includes or recommends adding avocado. Combine those two pieces of information, and you’re only left with one possible outcome - it’s an attractive, bright Australian cafe in NYC. Sit outside any day starting at 8am, and be productive, or go down internet rabbit holes that leave you with nothing but the knowledge that 92% of Mexican avocados come from the state of Michoacán." - matt tervooren

"Pretty soon, there will probably be more Australian coffee shops in New York than American ones. Citizens of Chelsea is one of them, and as such, you’ll encounter terms like “brekkie” and “avo smash” here. If you want to meet someone for a flat white and healthy food in a bright space, try it out. It’s also walking distance from Penn Station." - Matt Tervooren

"This charming corner restaurant on Ninth Avenue fills up quickly with brunch-goers on weekends, but is worth waiting for a table. The restaurant is a favorite of Instagrammers, with its plant-heavy decor and neon sign that somewhat bewilderingly reads “home for the holidays.” For those planning a brunch on the boozier side, Citizens of Chelsea also serves mimosas by the carafe. The food and service was spectacular. Our server Ethan was super attentive and hospitable. He went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable while dining in the outdoor area despite the heat. Once Ethan’s shift was over he made sure we were taken care of with the test of the team, which was deeply appreciated. The Harissa Chicken Salad was a 12/10 in terms of flavor diversity. For desert I got the Banana French Toast, and that was also superb. Overall, excellent experience.

Google
Really vibrant brunch spot in Chelsea! All of the staff are extremely friendly, we came without a reservation on a Sunday and got seated within 10 minutes. Our server, Matt, was so attentive and helpful. I got the classic breakfast platter with chicken sausage and it was very delicious. My reason for a 4/5 is because none of the food was hot, it was almost room temperature. The place was busy so I know it wasn’t sitting for a while. My friend got the cheddar biscuit sandwich and she devoured it! The cappuccino was also rich and delish.

Google
Good food is lovely atmosphere, although a bit noisy. The portions are quite small (especially eggs) but well prepared. Our order took 30min to arrive although it was pretty quiet on a Tuesday morning. LOVED the pancake.

Triin de Speville

Google
Quite an interesting menu, with plenty of healthy looking options. I had the Green Goddess breakfast, with a poached egg hidden underneath a green mix of beans and other healthy things. The pancakes are enormous, we couldn’t finish them sharing between two. The coffee was slightly disappointing and the menus were a little sticky from frequent use. Looks like a lovely busy neighbourhood breakfast spot.

Google
This is my go-to breakfast spot and it's always a fantastic experience! The food is delicious with generous portions—I highly recommend the banana French toast. The service is consistently excellent, too. On our most recent visit, Brooke was our server, and she was exceptionally attentive and friendly.

Google
I was super delighted with my visit, food and service was superb. Peach mimosas were so delicious and you can tell they use fresh juice. Lesly was my server and she went above and beyond, super fast and attentive. Definitely becoming a regular! Try the banana butterscotch pancakes!

Google
My first meal in NYC, and now I’m super envious that we don’t have one in Chicago yet. The banana bread French toast was excellent, and our server, MJ, was even better - super, super friendly and welcoming! We did, however, realize after paying that we were charged for two drinks we were led to believe were complimentary birthday drinks that we didn’t order and tipped extra for. So that was odd.

Google
My all-time favorite breakfast spots in NY! The scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection and the banana bread French toast is a must! Our server Brooke was the absolute sweetest, we couldn’t ask for better service! Definitely recommend this cutie spot!

Yelp
Banana Bread French Toast is amazing! Service is acceptable. Sat outside because weather was surprisingly good. Cortado is what you'd expect from a Cortado.

Yelp
I visited Citizens of Chelsea with my wife and kids early in the morning, just half an hour after the restaurant opened, on a Saturday. Despite the place being sparsely populated, we experienced a slower-than-expected service. It took about 15 minutes for the servers to take our orders, which was a bit disappointing given the minimal crowd. My wife ordered an iced coffee, which seemed to take an unusually long time to arrive. However, once we placed our food orders, the dishes were served promptly. The kids ordered banana French toast accompanied by fluffy orange juice, which they absolutely adored. I opted for the classic breakfast with bacon and chicken sausages. The servers were friendly, albeit a bit slow on that particular day. While the food quality was commendable, the initial delay somewhat marred the experience. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the waiting time may deter us from frequent visits.

Yelp
Food: 3 Decor: 3 Service: 2 Came here for brunch with some friends. We put our names down and waited about 30 minutes before seating. Salmon Eggs Smoked salmon and two soft poached eggs on rye sourdough with dill yogurt and pickled red onion. Served with your choice of greens or hash browns (+1.75) Dish was okay, although there wasn't anything particularly memorable given the price. They also ran out of avocado, so I couldn't add that on (also it's a $4.5 supplement?). Service was okay. Had to flag down our server twice.

Jack M.

Yelp
The experience was absolutely delightful! Even though there was a sizable queue when we arrived, it moved quickly and efficient, well worth the wait. As soon as we entered, we were immersed in a lively yet welcoming atmosphere. The space was brightly lit, adorned with floral decorations, creating a contemporary and cozy setting. Despite the crowd, the service stood out for being exceptionally friendly and fast, which was impressive. We were seated at communal tables with smart dividers that made the seating less awkward and more private. I chose the classic breakfast, and it was fantastic! The chicken sausage was deliciously seasoned and came with what seemed to be curry ketchup, adding a unique twist that complemented the sausage perfectly. The scrambled eggs were flawless, and the hash browns were crisp and irresistible. I also indulged in the banana bread French toast, topped with clotted cream. It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory: Dense, moist, and not overly sweet, with the clotted cream adding a lovely richness. Overall, our Sunday breakfast was a hit. The place provided a great start to our day with its delightful food and vibrant environment. Definitely a gem in Chelsea for a satisfying breakfast experience!

Zoha M.

Yelp
The food is so delicious! It's a rather small restaurant so I opted for the window ledge to get served faster. It might be harder to get a table for larger groups, but so far this is my fave brunch spot in Chelsea hands down!

Anton K.

Yelp
I have tried a lot of dishes in the pot. But this one surprised me. We had some issues to order, but the manager resolved the problem.

Spencer K.

Yelp
Recommend highly. Very interesting breakfast selections that are filling, tasty and satisfying. You should get a reservation, even during the week. Bonus: They know how to grill sourdough! Cheese biscuit is a must. Coffee was a bit bitter for me, but does not knock it out of contention. Seating was quite comfortable and service was friendly.

Yelp
Being a tourist in New York, my family and I needed a place to eat that was worth our limited time. Citizens of Chelsea was perfect. It had a broad-enough menu that everyone could find something to eat, but it wasn't so crazy we were overwhelmed. Everything was delicious, including the coffee and tea. Servers were also kind and prompt. Worth it!

Brettny J.

Yelp
I liked all the food I got. I got the yogurt bowl, and it was so good, but I did have to ask for syrup to pour on the yogurt bc it was plain and not sweet. I also got the hashbrowns. They should serve ketchup with it bc I think it would go better than the spicy sauce that came with it. And I got poached eggs, which were good too.

Ingrid A.

Yelp
Everything is incredibly delicious here and if you love pretty food, double bonus. I had the baked eggs this time with chorizo. It's the kind of dish you dream of on a hard day. Warm, cozy, and flavorful. I hope this dish never goes away. It's my go to on days I have a long to do list. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. They make it a point to add plenty of flavor in all their dishes and there's something for everyone. Oh the lattes. How do they create such creamy lattes?! I love lattes elsewhere but Citizens creates the creamiest. I love nut milk, but if I ask for whole milk, I want real "whole" milk and this place delivers. No watered down mess that I'm served elsewhere. I still don't know their secret for their creamy lattes and I'm ok with that...but if anyone knows, please share. ;) The ambiance is a hip, young crowd. 20's and 30's and a sprinkle of other ages. Today's young crowd expect good quality food thanks to Instagram. This place nails it.

Allie B.

Yelp
One of the best brunches I've ever had. Couldn't stop talking about it all weekend and I'm a harsh critic of brunch food typically. Bloody Mary seemed like it had pickles mixed in-- was obsessed with it. We got a blueberry pancake with bananas and bacon for the table (heavenly). It comes with a special maple syrup butter sauce. I got the breakfast sandwich with avocado and it was insanely good. The cheddar biscuit it came on was just unreal. I also tried my friend's Miso greens/rice/mushroom bowl and it was delicious. Really nice ambiance/decor and good friendly service. Don't sleep on this restaurant.

Yelp
What a gem! From the quirky outside facade to the cheery garden-like interior, this place makes for great pictures. And then there was the food. We ordered a few things to share so we can taste the goodness. We were not disappointed with any of our choices. The eggs were poached to perfection, the peanut brittle was airy and delicious, and the beet hummus was a fresh addition to the plate. The americano was a bit burned but I didn't come here and it did not ruin the 5-star rating for me The staff were friendly and attentive and snapped cute pictures of our party.

Anna P.

Yelp
Great little brunch spot in Chelsea! Came here with my family and we had a great time, everyone enjoyed their meal! The server was super kind and accommodating to any requests we had for our dishes. I got the avocado toast and it wasn't my favorite but I tried my mom's breakfast sandwich and my brothers banana bread French toast and they were both to die for! So good! The cheddar biscuit with the sandwich was absolutely delicious. The eggs were perfect and the bacon tomato jam was a perfect addition.

Yelp
With endless options in NYC, it's top notch! Surrounded by many high-end restaurants and shops in the area, Citizens of Chelsea is an Aussie-inspired cafe that offers a relaxed setting with a feel-good vibe. They serve contemporary breakfast options, modern twists on classic favorites, and a wide selection of pastries, coffee, tea and cocktails. Dining here is sure to brighten anyone's day. I stopped in for a late lunch and was greeted by friendly team members who made great recommendations. I opted for a refreshing Strawberry Lime Ricci cocktail and the Smashing Avocado toast, which was served on thick-cut sourdough bread and garnished with beet humus and pistachios. I eat avocado toast almost daily and would rate their rendition as one of the greats. (Add a poached egg and it's even better.) Give it a try for yourself! PRO-TIP: The healthy menu with fresh ingredients makes it a good option for those who have dietary restrictions or food allergies. The staff was very accommodating and recommended gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options when I asked.

Jena C.

Yelp
Such friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. We popped in for a quick brunch while in the area, seated right away, met with smiles. The food was amazing. The only difficulty was choosing an entree, which means I'll be back another time!

Alison C.

Yelp
4.5 stars Citizens' Chelsea location (there are several stores around the city) seemed like an ideal place to meet my friends for an afternoon of catching up over warm beverages and snacks. The café was rather cramped, but did offer a good deal of seating at individual and communal tables or counters. We arrived at 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon, which appeared to be a hectic time for them, so we were only able to snag neighboring seats at the communal table, making it hard for the 3 of us to easily converse. The servers were very nice and tried to find alternative arrangements for us, but they were also swamped, so we made due with what we had. While I was not hungry and did not order food, I loved everything about the fresh and interesting menu, which featured everything from avocado toast to unique egg platters to yogurt parfaits. (Essentially, it was breakfast "all-day" until 5 pm.) I did, however, opt for one of their warm beverages from their extensive list. Someone had told me that the Rishi brand chai syrup was excellent (natural, not too sugary, etc.), and it made a terrific latte. I saw that Citizens was using this product in their version, so I decided to try it with almond milk and was not disappointed! It was, by far, the best Chai Latte I had ever had! It possessed hints of spice and sweetness, while remaining light and delicate. Even though I only had a beverage, I was so impressed with Citizens' creative and fun menu that I simply have to return to try their cuisine as well. I also might venture to one of their other locations that actually accepts online reservations to ensure that I get the type of seat I would like.

Yelp
Came here on a rainy weekend for brunch. It stopped raining before we got seated so we sat outside to enjoy the breeze and the view. It was pretty chill and relaxing. We got attended by the waitress and the service was great. The food was spectacular. We ordered: cheddar bbiscuit brekkie sandwich with avocados, and cast iron baked eggs. The sandwich was great, but i loved more the cast iron bbaked eggs. The chorizo sausage was made on point, and the whole dish was in harmony. Loved it! Will look forward in coming to this place again in the future : )

Leyang Z.

Yelp
Had a delicate breakfast there after my Tuesday workout. A small cafe with lots of wooden decor, and there are many sockets so it is convienient to work here as well. I ordered the cast iron eggs and side of fruit (not on menu but you can request for it). My server was welcoming and food was served very quickly -- in about 6 minutes! The cast iron eggs consisted mainly of two poached eggs, two pieces of sausage, beans, tomato, a little bit spinach and three pieces of thin-cut sourdough. I opted out the aioli. Overall had nice appearance, delicious and healthy! The tomato sauce+red pepper mix was very rich and juicy, sour and sweet, which was definitely unforgettable. The bread was also pretty good and healthy. However, the size was way too small; it would be perfect if the bowl could be 3-5cm larger in diameter. Well, perhaps it was because I ran about 12mi before the breakfast lol. Anyway it was still deserve trying, especially if you are looking for something with good taste and good for photographing. I will definitely come back the next time I visit New York.

Rachella C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my Sunday morning brunch at Citizens of Chelsea! The atmosphere was very bright and cute - plants everywhere and lots of natural light! I didn't make a reservation beforehand, so the wait was around 20 minutes for two seats at a high-top counter. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious, but I ended up ordering the Cheddar Biscuit Brekkie Sandwich, which was absolutely fantastic. The cheddar-chive biscuit was so soft and flavorful and the tomato chutney brought the whole bite together - just 10/10 on the meal. I also ordered the Golden Latte, one of their "Wellness Lattes". I definitely should have asked about the ingredients before ordering, but I didn't like it at all - it just wasn't what I was expecting. But service was great and the staff were very active and responsive! Overall, a lovely time at Citizens of Chelsea - will definitely be coming back (just with a reservation next time)!

Emina S.

Yelp
so confused how this place has the rating it does. maybe we just ordered at a terrible time? unsure but will not be trying a second time. - They forgot the waffle, individual smashed avocado toast order, side of bacon, and most ingredients from avocado toast for the 2 Brekkie plates. -*Wildly* overpriced w/ tiny portions (may as well not have even given us any beans instead of that 2oz plastic cup) -Everything for the Brekkie plates was thrown into a bowl and juices from everything mixed. So sloppily put together and barely any seasoning on anything except some paprika on the eggs. flavorless salmon. super thin avocado spread on hard toast. -Banana bread french toast tasted like it was made with 8 sticks of butter. I died after 2 bites -Food looks aesthetically pleasing, at least when dining in I guess, but they dropped the ball on our delivery. The citizens of Chelsea deserve better than mediocre food that looks cool on a plate!

renje g.

Yelp
- super friendly service - make that resey it gets busy in breakfast times - lots of sunlight shines through the glass windows - good cocktails - good coffee products im mad my velvet latte had no caffeine it was good tho - fresh avocado - good hash browns, I loved the dip it comes with - tasty cheddar biscuit kind of salty and over-toasted tho - really good pancakes and its hard to impress me with pancakes - I liked the bacon and the sausage pause

Yelp
We did a walk-in for brunch on mothers day weekend and had to wait for 15 minutes around 12:30 to be seated and got seated within that time frame in one of their community style seating setup. The ambiance and setup is fresh with some bright colors and very welcoming. Noise levels were average and its easy to have conversations. They have a good menu covering pretty much the American classics and a good cocktail menu as well. We ordered Harissa Chicken Bowl ($18.50), Belgian Waffle ($15), and Smashing Avocado ($16). Portion sizes were okay, and waffles were the best dish in our order. There was nothing smashing about the avocado and the most flavorful thing about that dish was the multigrain bread! I struggled to get a good taste from the beetroot humus while the pickled onion was the best was very little in terms of portion size. Service is excellent. Food arrives within 15 minutes of ordering and a pretty friendly staff too. I couldn't quite understand all the hype around this place in the end. The food was just okay - nothing special about it!

Derek T.

Yelp
Loved the food I got to try at Citizens! High quality, fresh, and super flavorful. Prices here were fair as well (expected for the quality and kind of food served). The servers were nice and attentive and the spot is very clean! Enjoyed my time and would go back again to try more of the menu!

Waleed M.

Yelp
Citizens of Chelsea immediately welcomed me with its warm and lively atmosphere, making it the perfect backdrop for a delightful dining experience. The interior struck a charming balance with pleasant wood accents, tasteful lighting, and an array of plant life that created a cozy yet vibrant setting. For my meal, I opted for the "Big Brekkie" - a hearty dish that promised a fusion of flavors. Each component of the dish was a standout on its own, but together, they created a symphony of flavors. The transition from one element to the next was seamless, inviting me to savor every bite. I was especially a fan of the fresno chili garnish! I was most impressed by how the meal managed to be both light and hearty. The balance was just right - filling without being overwhelming, which is exactly what I needed to kickstart my day in the city. I would definitely recommend Citizens of Chelsea as a great breakfast spot to try to set the tone right for a big day in the city!

Katie K.

Yelp
I love this place. Cute and comfy place in Chelsea. It was exactly what I was looking for for breakfast. I had asked for my eggs over hard and they were perfect. The flavors were spot on. I love the small side salad that came with the breakfast. I had the large coffee, which gave me two full cups. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in town.

Christina S.

Yelp
Amazing food made with fresh whole foods and clean ingredients. Beautiful earthy interior. Homemade hot sauce. Friendly service. What else can you ask for? An ideal brunch spot. I'll definitely be coming back.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Enjoyed a decent breakfast with a friend here. The avocado toast was yummy- but pricey at over $20 with the egg. My tea cup was dirty & The music was a bit loud if you're trying to have a conversation. Service was average but the staff was nice. Enjoyed nonetheless!

Cece C.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, the burrito I got was also well prepared and I liked the array of sauces available. I probably would've given 5 stars had they not skimped on the chorizo so much but overall it was good.

Melinda M.

Yelp
Citizens was all that - and more. Came into a super busy cafe today - but you wouldn't have known that from the excellent service we received. Our server Robbie was attentive, funny, and knew just what to recommend for our super indecisive table. The blueberry pancakes as an appetizer for the table were divine. And a round of fluffy OJ was just what we needed. Next time I'm in Chelsea i will 100% be returning! Thank you Robbie!

Lauren L.

Yelp
very typical Australian cafe. food was average - lots of gluten free options (by substituting the bread), but the bread was very standard, crumbly and dry, service was good, cute vibe, but not amazing cuisine.

Jess W.

Yelp
Food was great. Only problem is I ordered an oat latte, it didn't taste like oat so I checked with the waiter. He double checked the receipt if I ordered with oat milk and yes I did, I wish he had checked with the barista. I'm certain it was regular milk, I'm lactose intolerant so I have not been feeling well, have been sick to my stomach. Paid an extra $1 (oat is extra) to get sick. Thank goodness I wasn't allergic to dairy, would've been a whole different story.

Sophia H.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a friend, and I thought it was just ok. Quite pricey and food wasn't anything spectacular. Staff was friendly though, and I like how they have a variety of vegetarian friendly options on the menu. Spacious indoor dining space and cute for the vibes, but I wouldn't go for the food - I think there are definitely better spots in NY that are more worth it.

Ellen L.

Yelp
I will always love going to any citizens of restaurant. I love how this location also has a to go side if you want to quickly grab some items or you don't want to wait to be seated. They have bar seating so it's pretty quick and easy to get seated right away if you're by yourself. If you're coming with a group the wait can be pretty long. I got the bbq brekkie bowl. The egg was nice and runny, the avocado was ripe, and the pork was so good. It wasn't tough and had a good amount of flavor. I liked the other toppings they added to the bowl and was really full after! Because they're really busy on weekends, I did have to wait quite a while for them to bring me my bill. But the servers were so nice and when I made eye contact with her and asked for the bill she came over right away which I appreciated.

Vu T.

Yelp
Such a beautiful place and amazing customer service! It was quite busy when we arrived but we were able to seat right away. The food was fast and delicious, highly recommend.

Dennis S.

Yelp
Citizens of Chelsea was a great place to grab a quick Brunch bite after going to the Blackpink Born Pink exhibition in the Chelsea area. For a Saturday morning/afternoon, there wasn't too much of a wait time with only 15 minutes but we sat in a communal area. The ambiance overall was casual cozy NY brunch scene with plant areas here and there. The waitress provided us great service and our order came out quickly. My friends and I ordered different things where I ordered a Large Cold Brew and the Green Goddess Shashuka. The Cold Brew was very refreshing and provided the caffeine I needed to survive an upcoming K-Pop concert at MetLife. The Green Goddess Shashuka was zesty, healthy and delicious. As small as the portions appeared, I was perfectly full and ready to enjoy Blackpink. If you want a nice casual quick brunch grab in the Chelsea area, then Citizens of Chelsea is your place to go!

Jennie B.

Yelp
I've been a few times now and it's just ok. nothing memorable, but nothing offensive. for context: i've tried the cheddar biscuit brekkie sandwich, bbq brekkie bowl, cast iron baked eggs, and their coffee. there's always been a small wait of about 10-15 minutes. probably wouldn't go again on my own accord, but wouldn't be too mad if someone suggested it while we were in the area and there wasn't an insufferable line.

Wendy T.

Yelp
Solid brunch spot! Will warn that there is no AC, so no preferable on hot summer days.

Keeley G.

Yelp
A great spot on the west side, close to Penn and reliable if you're looking for brunch. The staff was super friendly and didn't rush us when we decided to order post brunch coffee. It's snug inside as most NY restaurants are but they have high tops, low tops and outdoor seating. The menu items are all simple but they seemed to be executed well judging by the tables and plates around me. Would go back!

Lisa C.

Yelp
My party of 5 stopped by here this past Saturday for brunch. I loved the decor with lots of greenery but I hated the table setup. There is one long table right by the entrance that will be for multiple parties. It makes the dining experience a little awkward depending on your group size. Also because it was right next to the door, there's constantly people passing by and does not provide a relaxing environment to dine through. As far as the food, I enjoyed my salmon eggs with a small salad. The eggs were still runny and the salad was dressed well. I also liked my matcha latte. My friends had some of the breakfast plates. Good presentation but not very functional in the sense that they filled glass containers with food but you have to close the lid every time you scooped anything out of it. Otherwise if the lid remains open, it tips over and the contents spill everywhere. It was very crowded and I don't think I'd come again if I had to wait for a table. The food was decent though, so it wasn't a total loss.

Shreya K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I did a walk-in for Citizens on a Saturday morning and we were seated right away. I instantly fell in love with the restaurant's ambience- an abundance of natural light and plants adorned the inside. For food, I ordered the avocado eggs benedict and was surprised at the poor quality of this classic dish. The avocado was over salted, making it basically inedible, and the bread was soggy. My boyfriend got the breakfast bowl, which was quite bland due to the lack of strong seasoning. While the vibes at Citizens are amazing, the food really didn't live up to all the hype.

Julianne J.

Yelp
Found this restaurant on Yelp and was rather disappointed in both the food and service. Menu items sounded good but were not well prepared. Hot dishes served warm, too much sauce, not enough sauce, sloppily presented. Nothing overly impressive here. Will say good value--portions to prices. My biggest issue was the service. It was hard to get service. One dish was brought out, after sitting waiting for my dining companions for 15+ minutes we finally waived a server down and they had forgotten it. That brings me to my second point, from the time the first dish was dropped off no one checked in on is, impossible to waive someone down. Don't be expecting a refill on your coffee.

Diondra B.

Yelp
Came here for takeout. I got the banana bread French toast was a different spin on things I enjoyed it.

Heather M.

Yelp
Best pancake I've ever had. The service was prompt and friendly. Great experience all around!

Jordan C.

Yelp
At first glance you might walk right by this place, on a corner it blends in with the rest of the busy city. But once you go inside, it's a whole different world! I decided to sit with my sister on the patio, and we had the spiked Aussie tea and the kiwi margarita, both tasty and strong! It was super busy but we did not have to wait long for our food. I had the brisket burger and my sister had the fried chicken sandwhich, wow her sandwhich was so incredible! Adding Gruyère cheese was the best move, both came with crispy fries. We finally ended with strawberry lime Riccis, everything was beautifully crafted, simple yet delicious! If you're in the Chelsea area definitely stop by !

Kim N.

Yelp
Best caramel latte I have ever had (and I've had many). The service was excellent, the eggs bennies were delicious, and the overall atmosphere was delightful. Highly recommend!

Daniel B.

Yelp
First stop in a quick 3 day NYC trip, and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, we tried a few different items and they all were very good! The Baked Egg and the Smoked Salmon Benny were my favorites. The place is a decent size for NYC and was pretty busy, especially for a Friday around 10 am. That said, even without a reservation, we got a table immediately, and the server came over and got us going. The speed at which the food came out was astonishing, I was worried it would be old or cold and not fresh, but all the food seemed super fresh and was hot. Inside is fun, bright and casual, and a great little breakfast spot in the Chelsea area.

Yelp
Ambiance (5/5): There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The inside has the most adorable decorations! Service (4/5): We rolled in on a Saturday morning around 10am and did not have reservations. Luckily, we were able to be seated almost immediately. By the time we finished, the line was out the door! They took our orders and were quick to get the dishes out. Toward the end when we had been waiting for our party to finish using the 1-occupant bathroom, we were asked to leave to seat the next waiting party (totally understand!) At one point, creamer had been spilled in front of me but there was no apology from the staff either because she did not notice (whereas my friends noticed) or did not care to. Food: Cast Iron Baked Eggs (3/5): The stew was warm but was too salty and tart for my liking. I felt like the bread was a good vessel to soak up some of the soup but felt like the cannellini overpowered the dish. BBQ Pulled Pork Benny (5/5): Huge fan of this dish! The arugula salad provided a refreshing bite to the otherwise heavier breakfast. I asked for an extra side of the chipotle hollandaise which really complemented the already elevated classic benedict. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
Looking for a breakfast spot in NYC is not hard. Throw a rock and chances are you will hit a breakfast spot. I dined on Friday 11/10/2023 for breakfast at Citizens of Chelsea. I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised. The menu was not big at all which made it easy to make a choice. I opted for the "Smoked Salmon Benny". Talk about delicious. This dish comes with a side of avocado, pickled onions and a bit of arugula. The hollandaise sauce was on point with two perfectly poached eggs (I mean, the yolk HAS TO BE RUNNY. Am I right?) sitting atop a nice slice of multigrain bread. I now have another favorite breakfast spot. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Great spot for a sunny brunch! They don't take reservations, but you can get added to a waitlist, which generally takes less than 30 mins. Great food (vegetarian friendly) - we had the quinoa bowl, Avocado toast, waffles, muesli, and shakshouka (they make it eggless on request!) The drinks include freshly squeezed orange juice and hot huge lattes. Would definitely visit again!

Yelp
Food is lackluster but decor is definitely instagrammable. There are much better brunch places in the area.
