"Greenpoint: Citroën, a new French Bistro and bar, opened with a menu of cocktails and bistro staples like steak frites, mussels frites, and coq au vin, served in a 1920s-inspired space. It comes from Craig Kafton and has a cocktail program from partner Dawn Eldridge, who previously worked at Clocktower and Happy Endings." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Pre game oysters and beer before dinner at our next venue and this was the perfect place on a Friday night. Kind of weird, in a nice Brooklyn way, with skeletons seated nearby, just a relaxing, unpretentious "bar bistro-ish" feel. Oysters were good, good beer selection, good service. Didn't see any hipsters here tonight, cool.

Food was excellent. Loved all the dishes we ordered especially the grilled octopus and mushroom risotto. Pork chop was a little dry but it still tasted really good. My friend and I had a great experience here. Definitely coming back again soon!

Such an interesting place, very cozy, good service. Amazing burgers, meat and fries 5/5! And Happy Hour every day til 8pm✨!

My boyfriend and I came here after stumbling across it one day on a walk, and I’m so glad we did. Very nice yet casual French restaurant. Our cocktails were 10/10. I had a spicy margarita and he had a dirty gin martini which came in a cute sidecar. To eat we started off with a few $1 oysters on happy hour, the artichoke (pictured) and French onion soup (also pictured). All were great but the soup was the best I’ve had out of French onion soups. For our mains, we had the coq au vin and Pat Lafrieda burger. The burger was incredible and the chicken was so juicy and tender. We finished off with a pumpkin spice latte. We will definitely be back!!

Only manager was nice, not another waiter. At that night the place looked haunted like the decorations. Only few customers but service from the waiter was trashy and unprofessional. I was so disappointed. Maybe this is the reason why this place is empty. update* after response from the owner. There were 2 people working at that night. The lady bartender was nice and we didn't have any problem with her but the guy who walk around wasn't nice to us. My friend was so upset and almost going to complain with the guy. Luckily, I stopped her and took her out of the place. Obviously, the place wasn't busy. She called the waiter and he was ignoring her and he wasn't happy to seat us at the beginning. Please explain.

Had a delicious brunch at Citroën today. The staff offered a wonderful service. We started with the east coast oysters which were great. We also ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict 👌and the steak & eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly to my partners liking. The home fries are a must! Will definitely be back to try their dinner and dessert.

Google
Elevated food & great service in a cool place that doesn't break your entire bank account. Real good for a (not first) date. Extensive cocktail list. Get the Cheese plate & the Charcuterie! Coq Au Vin is my favorite and the burger is quality. Escargot if you like that, croque monsieur if you don't. They take reservations online

We had a such lovely Valentine’s Day dating here, the vibe is great with heart felt decors for valentines. The waiters seem a little busy sometimes, but with good service. Foodie great. Hands down to mussels and beef Tartare. We also had several drinks, all of them are pretty decent.

Yelp
A cute French restaurant located in Greenpoint Brooklyn. I came here on a Thursday night for happy hour without a reservation and was quickly seated upon arrival. The place is dimly lit, warm and decorated with antiques. My boyfriend and I each ordered a dozen oysters. It's hard to come by $1 oysters nowadays. These were good, but not sure which species since it's on the saltier side. Then for appetizers, we shared the escargot which was bomb and the steak tartare which was very fresh. I honestly wanted to order everything on the menu but we ended the night with one entree which was a hard decision. We went with the grilled Branzino since we didn't get the grilled octopus. Much to my surprise, the fish was not too dry and nicely seasoned. It came with two pieces which was perfect - one for each of us. In addition, there were cauliflower gratin and spinach sides that helped made us full. For the first time, we opted out of dessert since nothing really caught our eye and we were very full. The place has unique drinks and I would love to come back to try more things on their menu, but unfortunately they will be closing at the end of November (this month)! Come swing by if you have never been or if you have tried and loved it here! As for restrooms, there is one unisex restroom on the right side after the bar, but before the rear dining room. Sad to see this place go, it's such a vibe! Our server was very helpful and friendly throughout our meal too!

Yelp
Solid 4 out of 5. I've been to France a few times, so my standards for French food is on par with their standards. Bread, garlic butter, foie gras mousse, escargot, mussells, and French fries were very well executed. However, while tasty, the steak and profiteroles were not excellent. The steak sauce wasn't thick enough for my liking and was a tad too sweet for my liking. The profiteroles also were decent, but not the best I ever had. I'd recommend coming here for the ambiance and for the dishes that were well-executed. Recommend, but for key dishes.

Emi B.

Yelp
Came in wanting for a drink and bites. But the place was so eerie it feels scary and not welcoming. There's more skeleton decorations more than guests... Cocktail menu looks interesting but not the taste. Ended up just had a drink and left.

Yelp
We didn't need a reservation for a party of two on a Saturday evening. They still had happy hour going for a Saturday evening which was surprising but much appreciated it. I had 2 glasses of easy to drink house Malbec. I think it was 9/glass. We shared the bib lettuce salad, the foie grais, the steak frites with brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese sides. The food was overall very good. I felt like the steak needed a bit more salt. This seems like a good place to get an easy resy for a decent meal - nothing spectacular but something that would still hit the spot.

Yelp
Gallivanting through Greenpoint as I often do, I came upon one of my favorite haunt, Citroen! Let me tell you, the adventure I had there was something else. Starving after a day of barely eating, my stomach was practically punching me. So, naturally, I went big and ordered the Pork Chop Tomahawk. This thing was a behemoth, nearly the size of my face! It came with a side of perfectly roasted asparagus and carrots, all basking in the succulent juices from the pork. I can't even begin to describe how ridiculously indulgent this meal was. Total decadence, through and through. If I wasn't sharing the plate I would have easily devoured the whole thing. It may or not matter. But I washed it all down with a lovely Malbec. Personally I think it complimented the meal extremely well. See for yourself in the photos! As big as my face I said!

Yelp
Came to Greenpoint for another restaurant that happened to be closed on a hot Friday . My coworker and I decided to walk around the area to see if we find any good specials. That's how we ran into this place. They had $1 oysters as long as you order one drink. They had hh drinks which ranges for about 9$ each. The waiter was nice the hostess could've been better. Will return

Yelp
I was looking for a place to post up for a bit after landing while waiting for someone to meet up. I ducked into this bar and restaurant that has a delightful outdoor seating area thinking I might have one drink to kill some time. Then I saw the menu, which is one of the most creative, well executed menus I've come across in a while. The Auntie Grizelda is a party of flavors and the next two were just as mouth watering. The staff was supremely accommodating and did an excellent job of describing the cocktails flavor pallet . The outside seating area was well done, and even equipped with fans, and they have no problem with me sitting at my iPad to catch up on the NBA playoff game. And the mushroom risotto was perfection. I will definitely be back. This place is a jewel.

Michelle S.

Yelp
When I went in it was decorated really nicely for Halloween with skeletons sitting at the bar and at tables. It was relatively empty when I went in around happy hour time. I was sat right away by my server who seemed a little stressed out. For happy hour they have an oysters special, but only if you also order food. The oysters were large, fatty, and very good. I also got the caramelized pineapple and jalapeño shrub drink which was delicious as well. For my entree, I ordered the steak frites. I'm used to having a less fatty steak (you can see how much fat I cut off vs what was edible) and skinnier fries. I did like the fries a lot but was frustrated with the amount of steak I actually got for the price. I would come back but for something else on the menu.

Eve S.

Yelp
Cool place for brunch. Sat at the booth near the window which was cozy. Service was good even with it being busy. Would recommend!

Yelp
Amazing food, trendy and cool atmosphere and A plus service!! A very enjoyable experience.

Yelp
Hi Bon, my friend and I really appreciated you service and friendliness but I have to let you know that your staff tonight wasn't friendly and gave us welcome vibe as we were expected. I still give you 4 stars because I love to support local businesses, but your stuff attitude needs to be fix. I say that for your future business. We let him know at the beginning that we wanted to sit at the bar, the reason because we already ate and we just wanted to have couple drinks before heading home. Your staff gave us nasty looked, like we wanted to take some men that sat at the bar..... come on! we didn't even care as I told you, we just wanted to have some drinks. Then the waiter kept ignoring us all night and came back to us the last, he saw my friend or I want to order more drink but I have no idea why he did that. I wish everything will be better and not left us with a bitter feeling about your place. The restaurant looks amazing, bar is nice, I love your style of decoration, just the few flaw of services.

Yelp
Edit: The owner will not admit to the food being rare rather than medium well, despite having the proof in photos. She also wrote that I was not allowed to have my dog inside the restaurant, despite it being a service animal and never asking to clarify this with me. She sent me a series of mean emails claiming I was lying about eating the whole steak while never addressing the fact that the steak they "cooked" is simply not medium well. The owner clearly has issues taking any criticism whatsoever (you can look at how she responds to other negative reviews). I did not realize that the food would make my stomach upset, which is why I gave the rest to my dog in the moment. Had a horrible takeout experience at Citroen. I ordered a medium well steak and it came out rare. When I brought this up to ownership, they refused to acknowledge or apologize for their mistake and were extremely defensive about the situation. I've never experienced such bad customer service at a restaurant before and advise that if you are looking for a pleasant dining experience, not to come here. Places with excellent dining service and much better food that I can direct you to -- Di An Di, Oxomoco, El Penguino, Verge Sushi, Madre, Leroy's.

Yelp
We had a party of six and we dined on a Friday night. Overall it was a lovely meal. I was initially excited that we were seated at the window table, but that was tempered by the fact that some of the banquette seats were sunken (maybe moules broken). The service was very good, although it was not entirely clear who was our server . We thoroughly enjoyed the French cuisine - the coq au vin and moules/frites were delectable, and the desserts (tarte and profiterole) were to die for. We would definitely return.

Michele S.

Yelp
Cozy place; great food and excellent service. Love their theme with skeletons. Would be perfect for Halloween gathering

Yelp
Came here with a couple of gfs on a Saturday night and was seated in the back corner which is actually pretty nice and quiet so we could catch up. Our rezzy was for 6pm so we made it for happy hour - right in time for all the Mezcals in the world. Our waiter was really nice and attentive - came by to grab drink orders right as we were done and cleared our table as soon as we were done. We ordered the escargot, foie gras, grilled octopus, steak tartare, and mashed potatoes. Be warned.. the mashed potatoes does not come with gravy. All of our dishes were really good but the grilled octopus was a little bit too salty for my taste. I had to pair it with the bread to balance out the sodium but other than that, pretty good but would not order again. Great spot for a date or catch up - definitely very intimate!

Kristi W.

Yelp
If it was possible to give more stars I would! Citroen is nothing short of amazing -from the cocktails, carefully curated wine list, to the unbelievable food. My husband and I are welcomed by the staff and treated phenomenally every visit. We love to sit at the bar, but grab a table every time we have visitors in NYC. Have been going for years and will continue to be customers and bring friends and family here!

CJ C.

Yelp
Edit: thanks Dawn for your response. I will now file my own police report as you assaulted me when you body checked me. I did not harass or bully anyone. I expressed that her scarf made me uncomfortable in this political climate. The exchange was 2 minutes long with no yelling. You are clearly unhinged as many of your reviews are about you yelling or being aggressive towards customers. I would seek some help for your anger issues. You could have easily diffused the situation, as a former restaurant manager I know this. Instead you came in aggressive and unsupportive of all your patrons. Also, just because you're Jewish doesn't mean you can't be antisemitic. Nice try though. My one star review is because of the terrible way I was treated by the owner. I told another patron I found their clothing offensive. The owner comes up to the table, tells me I was inappropriate, I say this person's clothing is inappropriate (it was antisemitic). The owner tells us to leave, when we don't immediately leave she starts screaming, saying we're trespassing, that she's going to call the cops. We tell her to go ahead and call the cops She calls us crazy and body checks me. Her poor waitstaff came up (our server was very nice), apologized and quietly asked us to leave, so we did. The owner is volatile and aggressive and supports antisemitism. I'm sure she'll respond to this aggressively based on her response to other negative reviews.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly rude to my mom, who is visibly foreign and has a very strong accent. I was so uncomfortable with the way they were treating her that I asked them to box up our food before it even came out. Disgusting behavior. There are so many good places to eat in greenpoint so don't waste your time coming to a place like this when you can get just as good of a meal somewhere else without the xenophobia!

Jester G.

Yelp
This is the perfect neighborhood spot. Oysters and a few glasses of wine? Yes. A delicious burger with onion jam and perfect fries? Double yes. Half price bottles of wine on Mondays? Triple yes! Dawn and company are the greatest hosts. She's a true mixologist and an expert playlist DJ. We always have a great time here, and love supporting our locals.

Kristen M.

Yelp
Ate here on a date night and the vibes were immaculate, although it's a little pricey (that's Greenpoint for you!). The steak-frites is to DIE for

Cinderella P.

Yelp
A Greenpoint gem and a favourite for a modest priced but exceptional dinner. The food is prepared with heart. Exquisite presentation and exceptional flavours. Sit in a private dining spaces outside, or in the gothic high-class interior, filled with themed, sexy ambiance and a few skeletons! The mixologist creates libations that instigate flavour receptors throughout every fiber of your very being. Happy hour until 8pm! Trust me...enjoy.

Annie B.

Yelp
An excellent little bistro firing on all cylinders. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff are charming, and the food is just terrific. Really it's everything you want out of a bistro -- delicious French food without any fuss. Citroen also has a great drink menu and happy hour deals! I can highly recommend both the Moules frites and the coq au vin. The burger, unfortunately, was not as good as it looked. The appetizer portions are a bit small for the price and they do not bring bread to start the meal, but otherwise it's very reasonable and the portions are generous. From a Covid standpoint I felt very safe, and I loved the way they set up their outdoor seating (and even allowed our dog to dine with us on the patio!) A great choice on Manhattan Ave, don't forget to finish the meal with profiteroles!

Kathleen R.

Yelp
Such a wonderful neighborhood spot! Delicious food, attentive service and a great vibe. Citroen is consistently a delightful night out.

Sean R.

Yelp
Charged 100$ for cancelling an outdoor reservation during a torrential downpour, even after explaining there was a newborn in our party. Owner was unwilling to make a reasonable exception saying the "policy is firm" This is the actual wording: "not doing so may trigger a $25 per person cancellation fee". Key word being "may". Just be aware if you make a reservation, their actual policy is: "you will be charged $25 per person, regardless of reason for cancellation or actual shortage of tables" They offered the $100 as a credit if we ever dined there but why would I want to eat somewhere with such an inhospitable owner? Check out her replies to some of the other reviews and I think you'll get a sense of what I'm talking about... Or now you can just see the reply to this one, bless your heart! No one at any point was remotely aggressive or threatening... Torrential downpour may have been a slight exaggeration but all are welcome to check the weather for nyc on 4/29/23 and judge for yourselves if it seems good for outdoor brunch with a baby, covered or otherwise... ( https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ny/new-york-city/KLGA/date/2023-4-29) We cancelled as soon as everyone woke up and assessed the weather, probably around 10, 3 hours before the reservation. I have never had a restaurant actually charge a cancellation fee if a reasonable excuse and as much notice as possible is provided. Even ones that don't have most reservations left open the night before...

Rynny C.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area and was so excited to check out this spot on my block. Unfortunately as soon as we walked in they were extremely rude. The place was completely empty and they refused to seat us. I hurt my foot so I had a scooter and they said that's not allowed in, even though it folds up. I couldn't believe it. I don't ever leave negative reviews because I know how much it hurts small businesses. But honestly maybe there's a reason this place is empty. Safe to say I won't be coming back. What a shame...

Kevin Z.

Yelp
Walk in here randomly for a brunch on a Saturday and it was super good choice. There is no wait or a crowd. Outdoor and indoor space available upon request. They have ac on a hot summer day and that pretty much seal the deal for me to be honest. On top of that, we got ice coffee and they pretty much asking me to sleep over. The menu is very simple and reasonable I guess. I forgot what is reasonable to dine out anymore after a year of pandemic. I got the burger with fries medium rare always with mustard sauce. It's actually very well made. The bun is not saggy and sauce and seasoning right to the amount. It's not too big but big enough for a full brunch meal. I honestly enough this very much. Also got steak for brunch and it's amazing. I will say food is 100% for sure. The drink is a bit weak but we only got one. Therefore that's a pretty bad sample size. I love the service and the humor of this place. Thanks.

Daniella B.

Yelp
I had to come here and say that I love this place. I've spent a lot of money on a lot of mediocre meals around Greenpoint and Williamsburg but that is not the case with Citroën. First off, it's beautiful. Every corner is so nice and inviting. The staff ? Also inviting. I've only had great experiences. The food? THE FOOD. I will never not order the Grilled Branzino. It's always phenomenal and I think about it often. The only complaint I have about the place is the Baked Artichoke appetizer, it was A lot of salad and then this tiny sort of crab-cake-ish looking thing sitting on top. But it still tasted great. Anyway, go!

Marianne D.

Yelp
Random find but oh so worth it. We were walking around Greenpoint and happened upon this restaurant. Love that they have indoor & outdoor options. We chose indoors as it was a blazing hot summer brunch day. The interior of the restaurant is very brassiere style and comfortable. I definitely loved the food and drinks served, but especially laud them for their sense of humor. As social distancing spacers they have skeletons dressed up as diners. Even their receipt had some sassy notes that every millennial can appreciate.

Alex H.

Yelp
Nice decor inside and good outdoor but need reservations Came as a family of 5 with young children : I wouldn't recommend for kids Service was uneven: some extremely friendly and pro waiters, and some weird ones. No one knew what was the soupe du jour. Cocktails are a must. True mixologist skills here And now... The food: Everything is prepared very well and tasty. East coast oysters were fresh and well prepared Simple haricots verts with shaved artichokes were great but no truffle in sight, per the menu description. Mushroom risotto was also excellent, although only available as a starter, not a main. Which would be my main critique here. Some items are in the appetizers section, but don't really belong. Burger was really perfect: juicy custom blend with caramelized onions and, very nice touch using thin slices of raclette cheese, which is super tasty. Mussels were also excellent with a perfect white wine sauce. Mac & cheese was really good as well: cheese, thyme, cream. We hope to come back. Highly recommended

Kathryn T.

Yelp
Classic French staples and amazing cocktails at this Greenpoint spot. It's one of the best restaurants in the area and has a lovely outdoor set up. Here's what you need to know: 1. The steak tartare is one of the best in the city. Highly recommend getting it! 2. The cocktails are super fun and inventive. They're also some of the prettiest ones you can order in the city. 3. The staff is SO nice. They're some of the most lovely people you will meet. 4. Outdoor dining set up is super cozy and beautiful. Overall, Citroen is an awesome spot to check out if you're in Greenpoint.

Connie L.

Yelp
A lovely French bistro in Greenpoint! Would definitely recommend for a nice meal with a cozy ambiance. Service was amazing and food was delicious. Get the French Onion Soup - they nail this one! For mains, the Pork Chop and Steak Frites are both amazing. The Steak Frites comes with a creamy mushroom sauce which is the bomb.com. Fries that come with it are perfectly fried and seasoned with black pepper - so good. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Mousse which was absolutely indulgent. The best part - they have happy hour until 8pm!

Max B.

Yelp
So I have had two quite different experiences here and the most consistent thing I can say about both of them, they were excellent. I had never been to Citroën before the other night but I had ordered out on several, and I mean several occasions. I started on the Steak au Poivre, served medium rare. The sauce for the Steak au Poivre, I don't know what it is but it's excellent. There's a certain beauty to this dish and the Coq au Vin, which I can say is one of my favorite dishes of any restaurant, and consistently good. It's heavenly honestly. Ok now let me transmute to my visit; I was waiting for my date, and the atmosphere was both inviting and silly (the two skeletons beside me at the bar). The service was quite excellent, our bartender was attentive and overly conscious. Everything, whether it be the serving of the oysters or the drinks, was timed perfectly. I can't say anymore but this restaurant has failed to disappoint and has performed beyond my exceptionally high standards.

Luz Z.

Yelp
Happy Hour $1/ Oysters were outstanding!! French onion soup to die for. We were introduced to Cremant a French sparkling Brut, smooth & tasty!!

James T.

Yelp
I'm leaving 3 stars so that I don't completely fuck up this small business's rating, but holy hell. I wasn't going to do this but the manager was truly horrendous. Second time eating out after pandemic. We made a reservation and arrived to a table that was only 3-4 feet away from the next table. The server couldn't approach either table without being right up against the one next to it. We just left... I emailed the manager to explain that we left because we were offered a table that wasn't socially distanced. She replied "I'm sorry to hear that. Our blueprints have been approved by 4 state agencies. Let me know if you have questions." She kept referring to blueprints and told us to come measure their tables today, which has fuck all to do with how close the tables were yesterday. I wait tables, and I know: tables shift during service. Customers, busboys, busy servers move tables. It doesn't matter what your blueprints are. You have to stay on top of that during service, especially during pandemic! Gaslighting me about what was or was not safe about the table we were offered is 100% not the way to go. Her catty passive aggressive response to customer concerns about safety are why this review is happening.

Lexi R.

Yelp
Unique decor. Gothic and antique featuring skeletons, dim lighting, heavy drapery and flourishing greenery. Outdoor seating is warm and equal in ambiance to the interior. Service was considerate and punctual. The menu is ambrosian and authentically French bistro inspired. Perfect for dinner or just drinks with friends. They offer an impressive selection of drinks - craft cocktails, non-alcoholic libations, and my favorite beer Victory Sour Monkey.

Sophie A.

Yelp
We came for a girls night out dinner for three and had an absolutely delicious meal! Our group had escargot, french onion soup, beet salad, and oysters to start. The soup and the escargot were real standouts and the oysters were high quality. For main course, I really recommend the burger and two of us loved the branzino and the cauliflower gratin it came with. Overall really enjoyed our experience and are glad to have such a reliable and great french place in the neighborhood!

Tiffany M.

Yelp
It's okay? The coq au vin was too salty for me, I couldn't finish it. The fries were just regular, not hot and crispy. Im not sure I would come back again, as I paid over $100 for a mediocre meal. However I must say the service was great, our waiter was very friendly.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Ugh, the grilled branzino here is to die for. Incredibly filling, comes with wilted spinach and pretty heaping helping of cauliflower gratin. For the class of this place, I thought it was a well priced dish. Would definitely come again. They also have other fish, chicken, and beef dishes. Salad dishes are somewhat limited (4 choices, but not anything exciting from what I remember). Definitely dine in, can't picture that this dished any other would travel well as takeout!

Alyson M.

Yelp
We dined there for the first time this week. I appreciated that their happy hour was great and was still going when we were seated for a 7p reservation. We ordered escargot, beef tartare, coq au vin, and branzino--all of which were amazing. The waiter was SUPER helpful, attentive and kind. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars was the hostess. Our reservation was at 7p and we arrived at 7:07 due to my husband being held up at his job at the hospital and us having to rush over. The first thing she said to us after giving our name was "You're late." Nothing else, just grabbed the menus and sat us at the table. Not only was this rude, but usually there is a 10-15 min grace period. As the first point of contact for customers, the hostess shouldn't be so rude and curt. It started our dinner off on a sour note, and the only thing that made it better was that the server's demeanor was so incredibly warm that it made us forget her attitude.

Roseanne V.

Yelp
Came here valentines day weekend, very cute outdoor seating with plenty of space between tables. Service: staff were very friendly and helpful! Good vibes all around. I have to say the seating was nice but the heaters were not working enough. Maybe get some heaters under the tables as well because I was a little uncomfortable even with a jacket. Food: delicious! My favorites were the escargot and oysters! I got the lobster ravioli thats part of their special Valentines day menu so i don't think it's available year round - that was amazing

DD P.

Yelp
Just ordered takeout .... Mom is visiting and we have been eating too much and too heavy/ been out and about a lot so just wanted to stay in and chill/ eat light for dinner. Amazed to see you can get delivery from this place all the way in Bedstuy. We collectively got the tuna Niçoise salad, roasted beet salad, macaroni and cheese, and the tarte tatin dessert. I'm sure this would all have been so much better not being delivered to the opposite side of Brooklyn, but it was still pretty good ... it was exactly what we wanted/ needed and really simple yet tasty. Also portions are decent - we had plenty of leftovers. Idk if on purpose or by mistake, but they sent us a little side salad w greens and dressing which was a nice surprise. Not sure what kind of dressing is on the tuna, but I could prob drink it I loved it so much. Also love the mix of the beets w avocado/ blue cheese/ apple and the candied walnuts on the dessert. Definitely looking forward to eating here in person sometime! Their menu is stellar; I want to try everything pretty much.

Yelp
It was a very good meal, but doesn't live up to its potential. Decor is very nice, think Minetta Tavern and lighting that makes everyone look good. Risotto, was great, steak frites was good (but not quite on the level of a top steak house), and wine list has some great bottles that are reasonably priced. The problem was that out of the nine or so bottles of red wine on the list, they only had bottles of three! The first one I ordered, I got "sorry, we're out of that". Fair enough, the second bottle I ordered he came out with a bottle from a different vintage and winemaker to the one on the menu. The next one I wanted, they didn't have. He finally brought out the three bottles they did have. The one we selected was great (and it, like the others, had very fair markups, which is a big plus). Our server was friendly throughout and apologetic, but for this price point restaurant, either have the wine on hand or change the menu. We really were at the "you've got to be kidding stage". All that said, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Yelp
One of the best start-to-finish meals I've had. I made a reservation for 7:45pm on a Saturday for a party of 5, and we were immediately seated in a cozy corner booth next to an open window - the ambience was perfect. Our server, Tim, was knowledgeable, attentive, and had no problem letting us take our time with the menu as we "ordered as we ate". We started with their beautiful and intricate craft cocktails. I had their Disco Nap, a pea-flower infused gin cocktail with lemon and simple syrup - delicious and light! Others got the Moral Standing is Lying Down (banana infused cocktail) and Auntie Grizelda, only heard good things about them! We started our meal with two appetizers for the table, the app special of the night - cantaloupe, prosciutto, and burrata drizzled with balsamic - and the baked artichoke. Both were absolutely delicious, but the special was outstanding and fresh. The portions were a bit smaller than expected, but would have been the perfect amount for a table of 2-4 guests. For entrees, I had the mushroom risotto (a appetizer portion, but plenty for me since I had the appetizers). It was a standard risotto but was prepared very well. The other members of my party had the Branzino (served with cauliflower gratin that received endless praise from the table), the Coq au Vin, and the onion soup and bibb salad. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their meals! We finished our dining experience with two of the three desserts offered - the chocolate mousse and Ice Cream Profiterole (a puff pastry topped with ice cream and chocolate sauce). Both were rich in flavor and thoughtfully presented. As you might be able to tell, my party and I had a wonderful time and meal at Citroën and I can't wait to return! I would highly recommend if you're looking for thoughtful food in a cozy space.

Yelp
It was my friends birthday dinner and we decided to celebrate by finding a place in the neighborhood that had cute outdoor dining and practiced social distancing rules. It was our first dinner out since March and the service was amazing - thank you! The entire staff wore masks, pura d'or hand sanitizers, and enough space between patrons to keep everyone comfortable. Appetizer - We shared the grilled octopus and it was grilled and seasoned to perfection. The red quinoa didn't bloom (I assume this was intentional) but the crunchiness grew on you and overall a good, light app to start. Mains: I had the grilled branzino with the cauliflower gratin and sautéed spinach and it was very delicious and pretty filling. My picture doesn't do it justice. My friend had the moules marinieres. There were a good amount of mussels, with crispy fries, but pretty standard. This was a cute, casual restaurant to dine outdoors with pretty good food. Thanks again to everyone at Citroën for opening your doors!

Yelp
WOW. WOW. WOW. By far one of my favorite restaurants in NYC!! I am rarely blown away by restaurants anymore but everything at Citroën was perfect from start to finish. My cocktail was 10/10, mussels entrée 10/10, and dessert 10/10. I also can't say enough good things about the service. Our server was so kind and attentive and really went above and beyond to make a great dining experience. Also can I just say how much I loved the ambiance? The music (and sound system) was great and I loved the skeletons at the bar. My husband and I had such a wonderful time and we will absolutely be back -- very often!

Yelp
My mom loves french food, and since it was her birthday today, my sister and I spent some time looking for a good french restaurant. We found out about Citroen online and decided to go here for our mom's birthday dinner. WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID. The food here is excellent, and the service is great! The Pommes Frites, escargot, and the grilled octopus were simply delicious--especially the grilled octopus, which was tender and flavorful. My family got the Coq au Vin and the Steak Frites for the main course, also perfectly cooked. The dessert was also simply great; I highly suggest getting the Tarte Tatin, Mandarian Napoleon Crepe & Ice Cream Profiterole. But the highlight of the night was our waiter Warren. He was simply fantastic. He is funny, charismatic, and super knowledgeable about the food there. Warren definitely made my mom's birthday dinner special. Also, a pro tip from Warren; try eating dessert first and the main course afterward. That way, you always have room for dessert! So Warren, if you see this, this is a big shoutout to you! Thank you so much for the fantastic service and conversation! My family and I have a great time due to the delicious food and you. 100% we will be back at Citroen.

Yelp
Outdoor dining review- we did not have to make a reservation here but we easily got a table. The waitress was very nice and answered our questions when deciding between the appetizers. If you plan to do entrees, would recommend going for the crudites over the cheese board because the cheese board is just so heavy. The eggs Benedict was pretty solid and the home fries that came with them were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside . Tried my friend's steak and it was ammmmmazzzing. Would definitely go back to this place for dinner. My fave drink was the true story with vodka- I'm a tequila girl but it was definitely refreshing for the hot day.

Yelp
After reading the reviews, decided to book a table via Resy. Shit happens so had to cancel because my friends were going to arrive 15 mins before the restaurant would be closing. I worked in the service industry for 5 years, and I know how annoying that is, so I cancelled. Restaurant was completely empty inside, by the way. Bartender told me to email the owner to avoid $100 cancellation fee (!!). And so I did, and wow-- she's a real peach. After a few condescending emails from her and lies about having to turn away tables because of my reservation, I realized that I would be charged the $100 and that she has no desire to retain future customers. So, review is solely for Dawn. Keep the hundo, and keep up the positive vibes . I'm sure success will follow you with that attitude.
