"This iconic High Line-adjacent bakery is beloved for its well-crafted cakes, but it’s also known for turning out half-pound red velvet, ginger spice, and chocolate chip cookies, all of which can be stacked on top of one another, frosted, and fashioned into the bakery’s signature triple stacked half pound cookie cakes. The cookie cakes, along with a selection of cupcakes and a la carte cookies, are now available for pickup and local delivery via ChowNow." - Leah Rosenzweig, Eater Staff

"City Cakes creates elaborate, highly customizable cakes, but the cookies are the real secret here. The massive, half-pound cookies and cookie-cake sandwiches are almost cakey on the inside, and always very fresh. The palm-sized, cinnamon-kissed sugardoodle rids any memories of bland sugar cookies." - Paul Schrodt

This place is one of the best I saw so far when it comes to bakery/cake making.Frankie and Deandra were so helpful and professional! They answer all our questions and care for our need even though they were closing. They made us feel special and help up a lot for our future order. They can make custom cake that looks exactly like you. After checking out for our order we found out that the owner is the owner is a judge on a cake show on Disney channel. No wonder why they make so much good stuff. We will be definitely be coming back.

Wow I am so glad I found this place! They are incredible!!!! Their work is truly amazing, the flavors of the cake were delicious and they took my last minute order 1.5 weeks out from our party. I ordered a three layer custom cake with peanut butter and chocolate flavors. Very dense and rich. If you’re looking for an ARTIST to design your cake and have it taste delicious simultaneously, I highly recommend!!

Cookies were all so good!! They have a good variety of flavors to choose from. The space looks really nice and very clean and well kept. The variety of designs is impressive! Definitely stop by for some treats when in the area. You will keep coming back for more!!

This place is a fantastic bakery! 🎂 City Cakes offers a phenomenal selection of cookies 🍪, cakes 🍰, and cupcakes🧁- all look absolutely delicious! 🤤 Definitely try the 1/2 LB Cookie (went for the Dark Horse Salted Double Chocolate 🍫 Chip Half Pound Cookie)! There’s a difference between making pastry and making art, City cakes is definitely making both. If you want a fancy wowzie cake, come here to Kerr a custom made cake to impress your friends. Or just stop by to get a cookie that’s half pound🍪to settle your craving. There are large selection of half pound cookie, slice cake and cupcakes.

From old to new! A friend and I were eating near the original location and decided to go to the new location. Those chocolate chip cookies were so delish. The salted caramel cupcake was good, a little on the sweet side but I’m good with sweets. The ambiance of the location is spectacular, love all the cakes & you can stand & watch bakers decorate while you wait.

They have some super creative ideas & also massive cookies that I have yet to try, but their cupcakes were good! I got the banana pudding one & it was pretty good! I wouldn't say it's the best cupcake I've ever had, but I think the creative ideas make it worth stopping by!

CITY CAKES IS OUT OF THIS WORLD! I knew they were in a league of their own when I received such a detailed, descriptive email after requesting a quote. They were quick to respond and assured me I would get the cake I had envisioned for my sons 1st birthday party. And they did not disappoint. The cake was SPOT ON to the photo I submitted and the delivery was seamless. I was in total awe with how beautiful this cake turned out. 10/10 would use them again!!

Yelp
Wow! I first went to City Cakes around 3-4 years ago after hearing about their infamous half pound cookies. I remember walking down the street looking for this tiny little bake shop tucked away under what I remember to be a residential space. Once you walked through the door, you were instantly met with that utterly delectable bakery smell of cakes and cookies fresh out of the oven and a HUGE selection of treats. Fast forward to 2022 and wow again! Walking down 18th street, I stumbled upon City Cakes 2.0. They moved into a much much larger space -- but with that same fresh baked goods smell and large selection of treats to satiate any sweet tooth. Honestly, this larger space is well-deserved. If you're gonna make a cookie as big and delicious as theirs, you gotta have the space to do it. At this new location, you're instantly met with a large rotating baker display and an open concept kitchen that allows customers to see how the magic is made. And the selection of baked goods can't be beat! They have their same half pound cookies but also a selection of bars and cake slices that are so creative. I tried the strawberry shortcake which was a delicious balance of super light vanilla cake, fresh strawberry purée, and a heck of a lot of frosting ($9). But what's calling my name next is their fruity pebbles cake with -- what I suspect to be -- literal fruity pebbles baked in. I think you should obviously try this place out, but it you're walking by and in a rush, just stick your head in for that comforting bakery smell.

Yelp
I found this place through instagram and went for the first time! I purchased their chocolate chip cookie and it was so big and tasted good!!! They also have cupcakes and cakes, and they were so cute! They also make customize cakes so good for birthday cake too! I will definitely come back to try other sweets!

Carlie M.

Yelp
The half pound cookies here are a must try! My go to is the Nutella macamochip. They have lots of other great cakes, cupcakes and cookies to choose from as well.

Rose B.

Yelp
Wow potentially the best chocolate cake I've had in nyc! Pretty good size for $9 as well. The space itself is very clean and modern. Only improvement would be for them to have a restroom for customers as they currently do not.

Angelica C.

Yelp
We did the best we could with what we got The cake design was lovely for the bday of our veteran But the 3 layer cookie cake was not how I requested the cookie "sandwich" to be assembled The funFetti cupcakes were not as I ordered Seems like they rushed to assemble my order; we managed to soldiered on.

Jen L.

Yelp
We got a number of cakes to share- a slice of the whiskey caramel, red velvet, chocolate, vanilla funfetti, and oreo. These slices are $9 but they're also huge- and very, very dense. I would be hard pressed to finish one by myself. And these cakes are BEAUTIFUL. The layers are neat and clean. Absolutely picture perfect. Of the few we tried, the whiskey caramel was my favorite. The caramel pound cake was moist and flavorful, full of caramel buttery-ness. The icing was a bit too sweet and luckily the whiskey flavor was subtle. Followed by the chocolate and red velvet- both of which were moist. My least favorite was the vanilla funfetti and oreo- both tasted way too dry. Would avoid!

Amanda Y.

Yelp
Every time I pass City Cakes, I always have to stop in and get something. Love their chocolate cake slice, cookie, and brownie!

Bri H.

Yelp
I stopped in randomly to get a cupcake and a lot of the options were out of stock at the time. I settled on a salted caramel cupcake and even though it was not to my liking (the frosting is too thick, cake very dense and overall extremely sweet) the actual shop is very warm and inviting. I love that you can see into the kitchen and look at the staff working on all the cakes. I sat in the shop for about a half hour waiting for my phone to charge and got a show along with it! I've heard good things about the cookies though so I'll be back!

Bernice N.

Yelp
I came here for my Yelp Elite Perk and was happy with what I received. I got the dark horse salted double chocolate chip cookie with an almond icing, I also received a free carrot cake slice. My cookie was amazing. It was a chocolate lovers dream and went well with a nice deep red wine. The cake I haven't tried yet. I also made a purchase for two cupcakes. I got the Fresh Strawberry Shortcake and the Nutella-filled cookie n dream cupcake. My girls loved them. They were telling me these were their favorite cupcakes of all cupcakes so far. I guess City Cakes will now be a household name in my home. Thumbs-up approved+

Yelp
It was an honor to win Reviewer of the Year Yelpie for Manhattan, and it was terrific to pick up my trophy and Yelp swag bag full of gifts at City Cakes again. They gave us a slice of amazing cake and a frosted half pound cookie as part of the swag, and both were delicious as usual. Great staff, friendly and helpful. So many treats to choose from. Amazing baking artistry. Worth it to just go here and check out the creative pieces in display. Also to pick up some goodies to enjoy! Thanks Yelp NYC!

Yelp
I ordered and received a MAGNIFICENT BEAUTIFUL PERFECT STUNNING pickle cake, exactly what I ordered, and am over the moon about it.

Yelp
This place is really cool, and their cakes are works of art. I came here for the Yelp Elite Experience, where I got a complimentary chocolate decadence slice, snickerdoodle cookie, and they also comped the chai latte I asked to purchase. From the moment I entered the shop, I felt welcome. The atmosphere is friendly, artistic and slightly whimsical in a fun way. There were samples of really interesting cakes that were no less than beautiful works of art and probably took a long time and a lot of skill to decorate. Even though it's clear that the chefs here are master artists, I appreciate that the bakery still feels warm, welcoming and unpretentious. When I ordered, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The friend I was with is allergic to tree nuts, and the staff was very knowledgeable about whether the items we wanted were safe (but also mentioned that they're made in the same kitchen so there would be a risk of cross-contamination- which was not an issue for my friend). I particularly appreciated their sensitivity to food allergies. Rather than serving our order from behind the glass, the order instead came straight from the back kitchen on a conveyor belt, which was cool. There was also a clear glass wall that allowed us to see the chefs decorating the cakes. My friend and I took our order to go. The packaging preserved our items such that it still looked freshly-packed, with decorations 100% intact even after a subway ride. The chai latte was great - not too sweet but definitely well-spiced with dominant notes of cinnamon. The snickerdoodle cookie tasted like a hug - the cookie was fresh, big, and chewy with an easy bite, and it was seasoned evenly throughout. The cake did indeed taste decadent. The cake itself was dense and rich with a beautiful texture. The flavor of the cake was perfectly complemented by the flavor of the icing inside. It was finished with a sweet ganache, and had an even and clean-looking drip design on the outside of the cake. If you haven't already been, I'd say that this place is worth checking out. Thank you Yelp for allowing me to discover this place and thank you City Cakes for the treats :)

Yelp
This is a trendy bakeshop that seems to have a cult following. It had a long line when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Their speciality is huge, cake-like frosted cookies. They also have cakes, cupcakes, and other pastries. I tried the pink velvet cookie with cream cheese frosting. It was fantastic. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. A confetti party in your mouth. The cream cheese frosting was thick and rich. It might be too much of a sugar overload for some and definitely requires multiple people or multiple sittings to finish. It's recommended to eat the cookie warm, but I found it perfect at room temperature. I also tried a slice of their red velvet cake. While the cream cheese frosting was on point, the cake itself was dry and flavorless. I'm still giving 5 stars because the cookie was so good, it outweighed the thumbs down on the cake. The staff here were super friendly. They were very patient when I was making my flavor selections. My order took a little extra time to come out and they apologized to me for the wait. Check them out for your next sugar rush!

Yelp
First time having City Cakes! For this Yelp Elite Event, we got the choice of a half pound cookie and piece of cake. They also threw in a free cupcake for me because the place was busy, and I had to wait about 10 min for the food. Sweet Treats:  Everything was packaged well and survived my walk home Red Velvet Cookie with cream cheese frosting and rainbow sprinkles:  This is certainly an indulgent dessert. The cookie, itself, was moist with a good red velvet flavor and cream cheese inside it. You are able to customize the frosting and sprinkles on top, but if you're not a fan of very sweet desserts, then I would skip the extra frosting and sprinkles. The half pound cookie is pretty large in size, so you could definitely split this between two people. Carrot Cake: I don't like desserts that are overly sweet, so carrot cake is one of my go to treats. The cake was moist with delicious cream cheese frosting (obviously I prefer the cream cheese kind instead of regular). Again, the slice is huge, so you could share this with a friend! Cupcake: The cupcake part was not perfect in terms of appearance, but it was moist and delicious! The presentation appears to be different from the photos of the cupcakes on the menu, so I'm not entirely sure which one this was or if they were experimenting in the kitchen Service/Ambiance: Place was busy when I went on a Friday night, but the staff was friendly and efficient. The storefront is clean and bright with beautiful sugar creations that serve as decorations (see photos - looks like real sushi)! Overall: Still trying to recover from the sugar overload, but the calories were worth it!

Yelp
Dear Chef Marc, Thank you for your gracious reply. You are absolutely correct, this was during peak covid times, we had some elders in our house so we do a lot of delivery! You're right and that makes so much sense, turnover probably wasn't as much as now. Thanks for being awesome. We are so happy to hear that business is booming and turn over is greater right now, we love to hear and see small businesses all over nyc thrive. Can't wait to try some of your delicious goods soon...very soon. Til then, stay safe and sweet.

Yelp
What a lovely and innovative business! The 1/2 pound lemon cookie with fruity pebbles was to die for- so decadent and rich, definitely for sharing! I chose to top it with almond buttercream icing- tasted like over the top marzipan heaven! Super sweet business with cute aesthetic and exceptional attention to detail. Your order literally comes down on a conveyor belt after being freshly prepped in the kitchen- how dope? Awesome perk for the elite squad!

Sarah M.

Yelp
I tried this bakery for the first time for a recent Elite event. The first thing I noticed was the amazing cakes--works of art in fondant. If I was looking for an impressive-looking specialty cake, this would be a place to go. I tried one of the giant frosted cookies with sprinkles and a piece of cake. The cookie was very tasty but definitely better for sharing. We actually cut it into smaller pieces (almost like a pizza) and enjoyed a bit at a time. The cake slice was a little dry but beautifully decorated. Maybe I just got a less-fresh piece? The cookies looked like a great way to cheer someone up or celebrate a birthday. They are very festive and impressive with the size and sprinkle options!

Eunice C.

Yelp
The experience of walking in is already 5 stars! It's so exciting to see all the displays of decorative cakes, and the neatly organized cakes and cookies within the window. To celebrate V-Day a tad early, I got the funfetti cake. A bit sad that red velvet was sold out by the time I got there. After processing your order, you wait on the side for when it's ready. Great opportunity to look around and enjoy the fun interior. Might I also add that the person working become the counter was super nice and helpful. I took the cake home and shared with my boo. It's a bit sweeter than I prefer to be honest but how can you not like the glittering sprinkles?

Samah I.

Yelp
I know people probably come here mostly for their cookies but the Dark horse salted double chocolate pie was MIND BLOWING (which I had the pleasure of trying thanks to this week's Yelp elite event and City Cake's generosity). I can't even put it to words only feelings of absolute euphoria. If you love chocolate, you NEED to try this. There's a bite of salt sprinkled which really complements the depth of the cocoa flavor and the silky texture of the ganache and filling. The crust is flaky and crumbly. It's just incredible. I haven't finished eating it because I'm savoring every single bite and want to draw it out beyond one sitting. Fun fact, there's gluten free friendly options! There's also indoor dining (bar eating and one table if I am not mistaken) and the space is generally very roomy! Knocked off one star because I wasn't as impressed with the cookies (which I think are the main event) but THE CHOCOLATE PIE! They have a card that you can get stamped with every item purchase so make sure to get one when you go! I would definitely come back to try their brownies o.o

Yelp
As I sit here in a post-cookie stupor, I'm struggling to think of anything that I *didn't* like about City Cakes. Seriously, six out of five stars for an amazing dessert experience. I will absolutely be coming here again, and often, as long as my waistline says it's okay. The store is beautiful, with a great, well-lit counter that lays out the various menu options, and a fun view into the back where the goods are actually baked. Service was phenomenal, with a friendly employee at the register who was helpful about explaining the menu and providing recommendations. Then there's the cookie itself. It's MASSIVE! Portion size is not a thing at City Cakes. And you're getting a great deal for the price - I'd recommend planning to share, since this heap of dessert definitely feeds two comfortably. For such a massive cookie, I was shocked at how delicious every single bite came out. The cookie is crisp on the outside, with a soft, chewy center. And the buttercream was amazing! It was so light and fluffy, it balanced out the cookie really well without sitting in my stomach like a rock. City Cakes was kind enough to offer me a slice of their amazing cakes (not pictured). Their customer service is just like their cookies -- top notch!

Ivy W.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying that I'm not the biggest fan of sweets, so I felt their desserts were a little too sweet for my liking. But my girlfriend, who is a BIG fan of sweets, also felt it was too sweet. We could barely get through 3 bites of the cookie and hardly finished any of the hot chocolate. Not sure why there is so much hype this place. I will however, give them 4 stars just because the employees were so kind and the space was really lovely. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and it's overall a great atmosphere! The person who checked us out was so nice and also let us know that they offer many different cake making classes. They also have a lot of very beautiful and interesting looking cakes for display!

Jake Z.

Yelp
Officially my favorite cookie store in Manhattan! I went to City Cakes for my girlfriend's Yelp Elite event and they gave us a giant cookie and a strawberry shortcake. The cookie was so chocolately and gooey on the inside while covered by a nicely decorated, creamy topping. The strawberry shortcake was much better than others ones I've had because it had a balanced flavor and didn't let the sweetness overwhelm everything else. Would definitely come here again. Makes for a great Valentines Day gift too.

Anna K.

Yelp
This was such a treat - literally and figuratively. I chose the red velvet cookie with cream cheese icing and the carrot cake. It has taken me a few days to finish but it stays moist and delicious. This is my new fave dessert

Christine A.

Yelp
As an elite yelper I received an invitation to try some treats from from City Cakes. I choose the strawberry shortcake layer cake and a double chocolate half pound cookie with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles. I ended up doing takeout and sharing my spoils with two friends. There was more than enough to go around. Everything was scrumptious. The cookie especially was intensely chocolatey and just the right amount of chewy and crunchy. I also had a latte. Exactly what I expected from a latte. I found the service to be very friendly and fast. The store itself is huge with seating inside and out. I gather they do classes in the back. It's worth a visit just to see examples the custom cakes they do. All in all a fine addition to New York City's bakeries!

Robert C. Y.

Yelp
Today I got a 1/2 pound lemon cookie with butter cream icing and sprinkles and a piece of vanilla bean cake that looked like spinkles were mixed in the batter and made lovely color dots. Beautiful and so rich that I cannot think of having the cookie today. But be advised that we WILL have it tomorrow.

Priscilla M.

Yelp
City Cakes is a bakery storefront like no other! Right when you walk in, there are a lot of super creative custom cakes on display and you can even see the bakers in action through glass. How fun?! I came here for a Yelp Elite event and got the half pound Pink Velvet cookie with Vanilla Frosting. I LOVED this cookie. It was massive, chewy on the inside with cream cheese apparently but it didn't look or taste strongly like cream cheese. As a fan of red velvet, I was intrigued by "Pink Velvet", which actually uses white cocoa as a base. It was a nice subtle take on the classic more chocolate flavor of red velvet. The vanilla frosting was simply perfection as a sugar addict. It was generously whipped on and very sweet. IMO, every cookie should come with frosting on top ;) I also got a slice of cake and decided to try something I usually don't reach out for -- Carrot Cake (beware: there are pecans inside). This was pretty good, decently moist and the spices came alive. The cream cheese frosting was YUM and there were even crystallizations of butterscotch on the frosting, adding a nice cronch to your bite. They have a huge variety of sweets and drinks. Definitely need to come back.

Jing K.

Yelp
A great experience at City Cakes. Their showroom displays were amazing. Such intricately designed and realistic looking cakes shows how much care and attention to detail is given to everything they produce. Ordered the chocolate chip cookie with cream cheese frosting. The cookie was moist with a great outer crust and loaded with soft melted chocolate chips. The frosting was creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. Their chocolate cake was rich and decadent. The cocoa really stands out and the cake was baked perfectly. The staff was friendly and did a fantastic job of explaining everything they had to offer.

Nina C.

Yelp
Came back again to get some dessert and still just as good as I remembered :) I got a almond cookie, a strawberry cake, and a lavender tea. While the desserts were a little on the sweet side, it went really well with the tea and made a great afternoon snack! The shop itself also has really cute decorations. Highly recommend coming here for a quick sweets trip :)

Sarah M.

Yelp
I walked past, and couldn't help but my attention be called towards the store. I walked in, and couldn't stop watching the bakers in the back making some beautiful pieces. We decided to get two cupcakes to share. The banana pudding and the fruity funfetti. The banana one was delicious, but I enjoyed the funfetti one more because it was filled with a tart jam that cut through the sweetness. I would love to come back here to try more treats!

Thomas M.

Yelp
Unlike the name might suggest, the highlight at City Cakes has always been their half pound cookies - which are in my opinion the best in NYC. The only one that comes close (and technically isn't part of NYC is bang cookies in Jersey City). These cookies are unapologetically large, rich, moist, and dense, almost having the texture halfway between a typical cookie and a brownie. They're good both fresh (more chewy) and refrigerated (more dense), while also microwaving well. My favorite flavors have always been the red velvet and the double chocolate chunk. The cakes here are also good, but can be more of a hit or miss. The strawberry champagne cake was moist due to the champagne soak, but the red velvet was dry. The buttercream could be less sweet and more buttery/smooth. Been coming here for 5 years, so I'm glad they were finally able to move out of their original basement location and expand to a nicer larger spot!

Eric F.

Yelp
Stopped by on Saturday before Valentine's Day for first time and was impressed with their cookies and cakes. For my visit, I got the half pound cookie (sultry red velvet with cream cheese, buttercream, and rainbow mixed sprinkles) and a slice of the Almond Berry Wonder cake nice slice. The cashier was very helpful with my ordering and questions, explaining that the light pink velvet cake was sweeter and the dark red was more traditional and that the top cake slices were the chocolate, almond, and red velvet. The cookies are heftier than they look and the cake slice was a nice portion. Filling sweets that hit the spot and with nice flavors. Very glad to have tried and will definitely keep in mind when in area and craving something sweet.

Rainey C.

Yelp
Highly recommend the Almond Matcha Wonder Half Pound Cookie! The cookie itself isn't too sweet and I loved the marble concept of the matcha and almond cookie dough because you get the best of both worlds. I had no idea it was a gluten free cookie, I got it just because I'm a fan of those flavors. But that just means City Cakes has got their recipes down! The half pound cookies are THICKKK, literally an inch thick (or maybe even more) and reminded me a bit of Levain cookies. I personally didn't really enjoy the Frost and Sprink topping option, I found it a bit too sweet for my liking. But the cookie itself was great! Distinct matcha and almond flavors, that you can actually taste. The Fresh Strawberry Shortcake Cake was good, wish the white cake was a bit more moist and spongey, but I saw on their Instagram that they mentioned the cake is supposed to be textured more like a shortbread so that explains it (felt it was a bit dry). I really enjoyed the strawberry compote mixed with the vanilla bean buttercream though. I couldn't eat the outer layer of the buttercream because again it was too sweet, but the inner layer mixed with the strawberry was a nice balanced amount. I remember seeing that they recommended the cake to be eaten chilled, I didn't do this but I agree that the cake probably would've tasted better if it was had right out of the fridge (mainly due to the strawberries). I also got an Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk and it was a nice cherry on top of the whole store experience. The cashier who made the drink also was super nice and friendly, didn't get her name but appreciate the kindness and service. Thank you Yelp for a great Elite event!

Petros K.

Yelp
Let me start by saying first and foremost that as soon as you walk in this place is unbelievably clean and meticulously perfect in every aspect. Whatever protocol they have in place is definitely phenomenal. I had an opportunity to try the cookies and take some home for family members and coworkers as well, and everybody was more than pleased with all the offerings that they had to try. The young lady that waited on me was very friendly and also explained to me that they do sell custom cakes and ship them all over the United States. Next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to take a carrot cake home and to try.

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I needed some treats after spending the day in nyc! They have big cookies here that three people could split. The funfetti cakes also stuck out to me since I love this type of cake. It is a cool store too. They have a cake in the middle of the store that looked like a full sushi dinner. Not sure why they had it in there. Maybe it was for an event but it was cool. The double chocolate cookie was good but not my favorite. Red velvet cookie was the best one. Soft and gooey and amazing! I couldn't say no to the funfetti cake and it was my thing! So good! I really enjoyed this place and I would highly recommend. It isn't the cheapest place but that is typical for an nyc bakery!

Madeleine B.

Yelp
Since I was here two years ago, I have rescinded my 3 stars because their cookie game is back full throttle (this isn't related to them also moving locations). I tried their almond matcha cookie and seasonal pumpkindoodle pie which were both awesome. Maybe I just came on an off day last time.

Jodi B.

Yelp
I had never stepped foot in the storefront until today! I have had some of their amazing cakes at events... today I had some extra time before an appointment near by and it was not crowded. The staff was extremely helpful with suggestions of navigating ALL of the amazing desserts and beverages! I will definitely be back and look forward to seeing some of their new cake designs!!!

Chris P.

Yelp
This place is definitely worth a visit! The storefront is really cool: you can see their creative creations and see where bakers come to train. All you need to do if you want something quick is go to the counter, see what they have on display, and pick something. Your cake will come out on a little conveyer belt, which is a fun touch too. The cakes are always fresh: you can peak in the back and see a baker cut your slice off of a full cake - it's not just the slices that are sitting on display at the check out counter. A large slice of cake was $9 and cookies were $6. My girlfriend and I ordered a slice of red velvet cake, which served as dessert for two days - not too bad in our opinions. Not only was it a large serving, but it was absolutely delicious. The cake was moist and the frosting was excellent. Normally I wouldn't buy a dessert at this price point, but in this case, I really enjoyed it and would come back.

Patty T.

Yelp
Disappointed! Follow them on instagram and what we saw isn't what we got. Ordered a piece of s'mores cake which was very dry and a filled red velvet cookie. The cookie filling consisted of a small dollop of icing outside and no filling. Not worth the hype!

Vanessa A.

Yelp
This place is a bit of a hidden gem that I just discovered (for my waistline, this is a good thing!). It's a very nice shop and just from looking at all the options they offer I was in awe and very indecisive!! I opted for two cookies - almond matcha (intrigued by the flavor combo) and dark horse (can't resist chocolate). If you like chocolate you can't go wrong ordering the dark horse. The almond matcha is different and you can definitely pick up on the almond flavoring. Next time I'll try the cakes and/or cupcakes, especially the rainbow cupcake. When you get your order I recommend reading the history of City Cakes with was printed inside the box. You'll understand a bit about the size of the cookies, which are the size of my entire hand!

Cris K.

Yelp
The cookies were moist and flavorful. Good bang for the buck when it's $6 each; you're getting more than you would pay for at a standard cookie place. It would've been $9 for a frosted cookie and $27 for a frosted layered cookie (3 pieces) so I just went with the regular. I think part of the ratings are just hype because how often do you get to see a half pound cookie? I went out of my way to find this place and although it didn't disappoint, nothing about it was mind blowing. Cute concept and range of flavors is appreciated for sweet tooth enthusiasts though.

Yelp
I'm blown away by City Cakes! First off, I wasn't expecting the beautiful interior! Big open space with displays for Pride as well as just an clean and minimal feel. The counter is through a panel of glass which works as both protection and a display. Even the cakes and cookies are displayed like art, and your order comes out on a little conveyor belt and is packaged beautifully. I chose the rainbow cookie and the chocolate cake, along with the peach green tea as part of my Elite experience, and I truly believe everything in the shop is on par with the deliciousness of what I chose. The chocolate cake was super moist, a bit heavy on the cream for my taste but the cake part was amazing. The cookie is HEFTY cookie, please be aware hahahah. I shared with several friends to finish! It's a super cute rainbow colored sugar cookie with some cinnamon I believe. :)

Yelp
The place is clean, and well organized. All of their desserts look cute and fun. I tired green tea, rainbow cookies and also red velvet cake. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy green tea cookie and the cake at all. Green tea cookie was too gooey and too bitter. About red velvet cake, I should have asked whether their red velvet cake is with cream cheese frosting or not... I am a big fan of fluffy / moist sponge and cream cheese frosting red velvet cake, but it was far from my favorite kind... Also, I do not like fondant icing at all. It was just not my style and did not like taste but, I enjoyed looking at them :)

Yelp
A lot of good stuff here. City Cakes is a great local place to get quality desserts and sugary items. I have been here a couple times, the first when I came to get my Yelpie last month. Good smells in here. They have small and large treats so you can order ahead or just come in and get something. Has a new location in Chelsea. It has a nice display of various cookies and treats at the front. There's so many good looking things. Included in here are a few vegan ones. That was a surprise. For my free treat I got some piece of vegan cake. That was pretty good and my boo thought so too. She took a few bites and wouldn't give it back. Then we fought over it until there was no more. In addition to cakes they also have coffee and cookies. They also make bigger stuff for those occasions you pretend to care about and obligated to go. The icing is also very sugary so it's good for those with a sweet tooth.

Yelp
Maybe it's just my cookie preference, but I found the red velvet too sugary and a bit weak on the cream cheese flavor. The texture was slightly gritty from the large sugar crystals, and the dough was lacking in that cocoa punch I love with a strong, deep red velvet chocolate. The chocolate chip was just okay as well. Very sugary with not as rich or dark choco as I was hoping, and the dough lacked the buttery and nuttiness of flavor I associate with a good chocolate chip. Still, worth checking out if you're a fan of this style of thick cookie that's generous on the sugary side.

Yelp
This business caught our eye as we we're window shopping. Beautifully decorated cakes! We didn't get a chance to taste the cakes but we purchased the 1/2 ginger cookie. Omg. The flavors were amazing!!!! The photos of the cakes on display were over the top! If I lived in the area, I would definitely find an occasion to order a cake! Yes, these photos are of cakes!

Yelp
EXQUISITE CARROT CUPCAKE Consisting of a spiced carrot cake with a sweet cream cheese center which was then topped with cream cheese buttercream & pecan glass brittle, this cupcake from city cakes was seriously no joke!!! The cake itself was so moist and not to sweet. It was filled with pecans and carrots which gave it a slight crunch and combined with the frosting, it was just the perfect cupcake Even if you're not a huge fan of carrot cake, you'll love this specific cupcake (trust me)

Yelp
I came to City Cakes to pick up my Yelpie's Swag Bag and my mother in law and husband came along. We were immediately impressed and amazed by the design and layout of the store, along with the various displays and decors. We could not pass up the opportunity to buy some cakes and cookies so we purchased a few cookies and got some cake slices as well, along with coffee. The half pound cookies are amazing...I loved the snickerdoodle and ate it over a few days because it was so big. The Vanilla Bean cake was my favorite...I loved it! We also got coffee, which was perfect for the snowy day outside. The really fun part was seeing our cake and cookie orders coming out on the conveyor belt. The staff working was amazing too. Can't wait to go back and get some more delicious treats!

Yelp
City Cakes blows me away once again. They hosted our Yelpie Awards again this year. Everything they make is absolutely delicious. The cake slices and cookies are huge. I want some of everything. This place is very photogenic there's so many beautiful displays and gift ideas. Today I picked up my Swag and Awards with my daughter accompanying me. I told her to get anything she wanted for a treat. She picked the Chocolate Chip Cookie and I got the Peanut Butter Protein Cookie. They were kind enough to cut my slice of cake into two slices so I could share with my daughter. I was going to purchase her a coffee but the employee said no charge. I would be in trouble if I lived closer to City Cakes. They have tables and chairs both inside and outside now. I'm definitely going back when spring arrives. They have a piece of pie that I photographed and I put my name on it!! It's peanut butter cream and ganache! Get to City Cakes ASAP! Thank you City Cakes AND THANK YOU to my CM Katey for making my 2021 Yelp Life Sweet and Happy!

Yelp
I highly recommend the Strawberry Champagne cake. It's a sugar bomb (what good cake isn't) but it's got a delicate strawberry flavor and it's simply pretty with the gold leaf accent. It's also got a good, moist, dense crumb. Their slices are GINORMOUS. Mine lasted 3 days because I ate a layer a day. So good. I missed it when it was gone. I also got the Hearty Oatmeal Raisin Half-pound cookie. With coffee it's a whole meal. Big cookies are only good if they are not over baked. These do best when reheated so the inside gets cooked just a tiny bit more without losing any moisture and becoming a brick. So definitely eat it warm! Their iced coffee is OUTSTANDING. I would come here just for the coffee, it's that good. Get the large and just wallow in it. Dammit. Now I'm jealous of the people who can just pop in for a coffee on their way to the train just feet away. That would make my whole commute. If they have indoor seating once everything gets back to normal, it would be worth the trip. In the meantime their delivery service was brisk when I was there. I can imagine the increase in small family gatherings and the need for delicious cake has gone a long way during this complete disruption in our lives. And they deliver anywhere. That's a big plus. It would be insane to have coffee delivered every day, right? Right??? Dear God don't ever make me rich. I'd blow it all so fast on coffee and cake.

Yelp
Best Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie Ever! The half pound cookies are so big you must share as one shares a cake (koekje). I cut the first cookie in four pieces to share, and froze the remaining cookies for the future. They come beautifully packaged with instructions on the box. We got the rich chocolate chip and the double dark horse salted chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!! City Cakes did a wonderful job of making the pick up process of the Yelp Elite Swag Bag delightful. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The products are delicious. The shop is well designed. Each Yelpie winner received a choice of cookie, a slice of cake and beverage to go with the swag bag. We will definitely return and try some more flavors in the future! Happy Yelping! Thank you! Dankeschön! Merci beaucoup! Grazie mille! 谢谢 ! Arigato! Muchas gracias !
