Google
Very nice market with lots of fresh produce, great grab-and-go section and well stocked with items I haven't found elsewhere. I'm new to the area and appreciate their supply of gluten-free foods, the cleanliness of the store and the friendly employees.

Amanda Simmonds

Google
Very impressed with the atmosphere of this cozy mom and pop like establishment A vibrant and beautiful collection of tasty treats could be seen as soon as you walk in, along with the service that felt more like family than stores. I appreciate the love and care that you showed my family and me. We will definitely be back. Continue this level of love. We can't wait to explore the cultures that have come together to share A taste of different walks of life . A bit Pricey though. It is what it is though.

Google
The price gauging at this store should be looked into… this has to be the most expensive grocery store i’ve ever seen in my whole life in nyc. the smallest portions of herbs and vegetables and fruits for 3-4x the price of any other store i’ve ever seen. chicken here was 17$ for the exact one at whole foods for 8$. not enough broccolini for one person for 5$. idk how people are going to survive .. the employees are all very nice and helpful though.

Google
The best for your Valentine's Day purchase, come to this store, best flowers, dessert and all fresh products 😍😍

Emilio Poiré

Google
Way too expensive that normal groceries store. Literally around $3-$7 more expensive on average. Service is good at least

Elvis Jimenez

Google
TARA is back ! Cooking the very best recipes you must try her lunch specials always a surprise every day. Great news

Google
I ordered a smoothie from City Fresh Market, and was dismayed to watch the woman prepare my smoothie without gloves, eat a piece of baklava, LICK HER FINGERS, and then pour my smoothie. This could have been deadly if I had a nut allergy, and either way, was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, I won't be returning given the total neglect of hygiene.

Really liked this grocery store. Has really nice service and peopls that sometimes went out of their way to help me. Prices are a little high but not crazy.

Quinn S.

Yelp
I've known this supermarket since 1992. It's of course very different now . The "children" love this place. They walk in with their dogs without compunction . The unwashed set ... If you want to return an item you are treated like a criminal . If you mention weights & measures that lessens. To me , if something is out of date , or simply bad , it shouldn't be a crime to return it nor should you feel as if you're doing something wrong .

Zachary B.

Yelp
Go here if you want to get accused of stealing because you came in with your personal bag that is wide open (nothing concealed) with organic strawberries from across the street for $2.99 instead of paying their outrageous prices for food. While I was checking out and paying for a number of other items from their basket as is their store policy. The manager is surprised that I am upset a cashier would call him over to search my personal bag and demand a receipt from another store. But insist they are not accusing me of stealing. No apologies when the receipt in presented to them. No remorse when I tell them I am never going back and notifying the principal owners. How's that for customer service? And for their disabled customers at that. This is the nearest grocery store to my home, so I often paid the price for the convenience. Multiple times a week. Where other stores people get to know you, you're just a thief and stranger instead of a customer.

Courtney H.

Yelp
Grossly overpriced, this market is only for when you need an item real quick and even then you are better off nipping over to Whole Foods in Williamsburg! My favorite items that I get from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods are DOUBLE the price here! DOUBLE! I needed some vegan Just Egg today to make cupcakes and I was quoted $9.99!! The price on Amazon fresh is $4.39 and at Whole Foods it is $3.99 on sale right now for 2 for $6.30 with Prime. And my fav ice cream bars that are $5.99 at Whole Foods are $9.99 at this price gouging, nightmare market. They also just upped the price of my fav popcorn to $4.49 when everyone else has it for $3.99. In addition, they make their employees work on Christmas Day and all other holidays! I hope they open a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in Bushwick soon and put these greedy people out of business. Because they are beyond ridiculous! The good reviews are clearly from owners, staff, or friends and family because there is no way anyone could be happy with being robbed like this. Order on Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods and save money and time!

Yelp
City Fresh is a great place to find high quality items! I've lived in the area for a while, and never had anything less than a positive experience here. The staff is friendly, (and bilingual, which is awesome), they have a great cheese/olive section, really great beer selection, decent meat, fresh produce.... I could go on and on. Also, their cake section is *amazing*. I can't leave without a piece of cheesecake.

Nicole C.

Yelp
6 months into a pandemic and these fools are still price gouging. Will be alerting the city. You have a full stock of cleaning supplies and you've quadrupled the price. Bravo for you!

Jessica F.

Yelp
Awful quality produce. Found a moth in the overpriced grapes I purchased and all of the other fruit I purchased was rotten or close to spoiling once I brought it home.

Nun Y.

Yelp
Sad to see while other supermarkets still have circular sales going on despite the fact there shelves are empty this City fresh decides to higher prices on everything instead of continuing how you guys regularly do every wk.. which is have sales.. If you ask me your company is taken full advantage of the Coronavirus pandemic going on as well as Pple being laid off or not being able to work.. therefore every penny counts and Your market can careless.. Money hungry and greed is how I look at this market Now at such time.. Sad cause you same employees been around when it was Associated market..And did some insurance scam and caused a fire and turned it into greedy market right after.. Sad and Disgusting... Price gouging in full effect.. Better Business Bureau should get a complaint next..

Yelp
I was accused of stealing from City Fresh Knickerbocker this morning on my way out. I had grocery bags from another store when I was stopped by an aggressive man who asked to check my bags. I allowed him to, he then grabbed items from my bags and told me he needed to check the cameras. I tried to explain myself to him that I'm a paying customer of theirs and would never steal from them but didn't have a receipt as I used apple pay in the previous store. He was extremely rude and dismissive. They held me up for 20 minutes while they "checked cameras." I told them I'm a nursing student and they are waisting my time before class. They didn't care or do anything to make the situation better. I will never shop there again. This situation was completely mishandled. Their lack of customer service skills is more offensive than the grocery prices.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Beware: this grocery store tries to pull sketchy things with pricing. I come here multiple times a week, sometimes even twice in a day, but will from now on take the trek to somewhere like Key Food or Western Beef. One instance- About a month ago, I tried to buy a beer that looked like it was recently stocked. None of the bottles had a pricing sticker, so when I went to check out, the cashier brought over the manager who said that the bottle was $29.99. Way more than I anticipated, so I put the bottle back. The next time I came in, I saw that the same bottles were priced at $13.99 each. Just now- they were selling broccoli for $1.49 per pound. All of the broccoli bunches were cut from the stem leaving just the tops. I grab three. When I check out, the manager comes out and asks me I had cut the stems off the broccoli bunches myself (yes... I brought a knife to the store to perfectly cut off the stems from the broccoli so I could save a dollar???). When I tell him that I didn't and that the bunches were all like that, he tells the cashier to wait while he physically went to go check. When he gets back, he says something to the cashier, and instead of weighing the broccoli and charging me $1.49 per pound, she charges $1.49 TIMES 6! So she charged me for six pounds of broccoli. Very sketchy. Stay away.

Annabelle G.

Yelp
the employees do not know how to do their jobs. charged me double and refuse to fix it. if you don't know how to do your job then do something else. idiots.

jacqueline g.

Yelp
Went into city fresh at 10:00 p.m and was not greeted at the Register unlike the white man that was in front of me they asked him if he liked a bag and everything,as soon as my brown ass got up to the register nothing and I didn't like that at all,we have been patronizing this place for years and spent our money in this store, and I couldn't even get a greeting from the night shift, not happy at all,and I go to this store all the time and have never experienced a cashier not greeting me or being polite, not happy with this at all.

Kyle D.

Yelp
This place is so overpriced--there is a Key Foods across the park where almost everything is 25% cheaper. For example, they have small to medium size Christmas trees that at $60 were already very high. They have inexplicably raised that to $70. Why? It is a grocery store at bougie bodega prices. Steer clear.

Kerri K.

Yelp
They are not practicing social distancing. There is no one regulating the amount of people in the store. Yesterday I went in and the store was packed. Shame on this business to care about money over safety during this time.

James A.

Yelp
Great beers have good selection always, they have great managers, always new selection on alot products

Susan M. J.

Yelp
I have given this market so many chances. Their food is great especially their fresh juices and their bakery, but the staff is awful. There is always, always a language barrier and most of the girls who work there are around 18 years old. The staff would rather talk to one another or fall asleep at the register than try to finish a sale. Also, it's one of the most expensive market in the area. Most places are cheaper with great workers. Don't waste your time.

D F.

Yelp
I am obsessed with City Fresh Market. When I moved two months ago, one of the highest priorities on my list was my proximity to this supermarket. When I first moved to the neighborhood I heard tales of how bad the previous management of the supermarket was- it sounds like it once upon a time was a real dump. In my almost six years in Bushwick I have only seen City Fresh improve and evolve over and over again in quality, product selection, customer service, and design. I love taking my time in this market and making it my go-to. Lighting, music selection, etc - I feel at home here. When they changed their hours to 24/7 you could have seen me literally jumping for joy on Knickerbocker and texting all my friends. I work in Tribeca and often used to assume produce and other items would be better quality in more affluent or higher populated neighborhoods but I have been proven wrong over and over again. I adore you, City Fresh Market

William K.

Yelp
Perfect middle ground market for the neighborhood. It should be noted that it used to be an Associated Market and there is already a listing with 45 reviews for the same place. The selection falls between gourmet and Goya. You can find most of what your looking for here from vegetarian and vegan options to generic inexpensive options in dry goods. Great produce and a well above average beer selection with a high amount of craft and foreign distributers. The staff is always very friendly and helpful.

Ashley F.

Yelp
Great assortments of fruits and veggies and hot food by the deli. Also prepackaged sushi and sandwiches. Some good craft beers. Only problem is they suck at making sure foods on the shelves are not expired. I was looking at a jar of tahini that was already expired!

Kenneth S.

Yelp
Great place wide variety of produce selection including organic selection. Awesome grab and go foods, I also like the dairy department I can count on my fav Almond milk always being there plus they're 24 hrs .

Tatiana H.

Yelp
I've been coming here every week faithfully for months now, and never had a problem until today. As I was checking out, an employee felt it was appropriate to comment that I "look like I eat too much". The manager (or supervisor, I'm not sure which) who was standing not even 5 ft away, failed to respond appropriately. I'm thoroughly disappointed in this because I really enjoyed this supermarket, but I doubt I'll be going back.

Allie G.

Yelp
This place is right around the corner from my apartment and I love it! It's a pretty big space with a little coffee bar up at the front. They always have a great selection of fruits and veggies - tons of avocados at 2 for $5 but you have to spend a little time searching through if you want ripe ones. I usually just bring them home and they ripen in a couple days. Never had a bad one! Their salad bar is also one of my favorites for picking up artichokes, olives, etc. I recently discovered how amazing their ice cream section is. I'm dairy-free and they have plenty of almond milk or coconut milk options. They also carry pints of Van Leeuwen and Big Gay. Definitely shop here if you live in the area.

Nadja W.

Yelp
I love this place! It's so clean, they have a huge selection of organic and healthy food/products and the staff is so friendly. They also have the best pork chops! Gennaro in the cold/freezer section has helped me so many times. He's seriously always busting his butt working but stops to help me. He is a gem! I live a little far from this place but it's so worth coming to!

chester k.

Yelp
I shop here all the time, and sometimes my basket gets really heavy, so I set it down to go off and grab something else off the shelf and come back for it. I did this today, and was gone for maybe one minute tops and came back and my basket was gone, and an employee was taking everything out of it and putting it back on the shelf. Like really? I was coming right back. Chill out, dude. Maybe clear the boxes always blocking the aisles instead. Annoying.

Yelp
City Fresh offers a solid selection of fresh, healthy food for the local community. My first feeling is one of gratitude that such a place exists in what I imagined must have traditionally been a food desert filled mostly with bodegas offering sandwiches and fast food restaurants on Broadway. And for the most part, City Fresh fulfills this promise with a good selection of fruit and more organic selections than you would imagine for a neighborhood like Bushwick. (Then again, the neighborhood is quickly changing and is now more than full of healthy, progressive options.) My primary concern is far from surprising: the inflated prices. Even non-organic foods are pricey here and can tend to empty your wallet on a single trip. Sure, part of this has to do with living in New York. But another part of it is the luxury pricing that comes with a clean, well-lit, well-decorated grocery store. I would not describe City Fresh exactly as an imposition on the local community, because the workers and many of the customers are local and they offer a solid selection of Hispanic foods. That being said, their prices are a bit out of line with local incomes. There has to be some kind of balance between affordability and health. City Fresh gets close, but I can't help but wish for more.

Michele R.

Yelp
The smoothie and fruits were fresh. I appreciated everything labeled. Well kept, organized, and clean.

Rozeyni T.

Yelp
the best supermarket in the area, everything always clean and fresh vegetables every day, and excellent customer service

Franchesca C.

Yelp
Prices are OK a bit expensive. ($0.50 to $2.00 more than the need to be). Cereal is never on sale and they dont have normal bread, only fresh rolls or that organic fresh bread that only lasts like 3 days before it starts getting moldly.. i dont know about you but i dont eat bread that fast. So because they don't have a normal bread I have to go to another grocery store after going here which is annoying.

Beezus S.

Yelp
Seriously, what is up with all the expired food and/or spoiled food at this store??!? I was just out tonight having dinner with friends in my neighborhood and we were all discussing our dismay at this phenomenon. Many things I buy there go bad soon after they are purchased. I am now very careful what I buy from City Fresh. This place sucks, but given how few supermarkets are nearby I doubt they'll feel any pressure to change. Also, it is way overpriced.

Samuel H.

Yelp
A little expensive but good food and very clean... However they have TERRIBLE SERVICE! Have gone there for the last time after having the rudest customer experience of my life with a cashier named Chelsea who refused to greet me after I said hello, slammed my food down, threw it into the bags and didn't say goodbye after spending the entire time talking to her coworkers in Spanish and acting as if I was a tremendous inconvenience to her. Shop elsewhere, it's not worth it! Changing my review from 1 to 3 stars after a very timely and polite response by City Market. Hopefully they can fix their customer service problem because other than that their business is very clean and generally pleasant.

Rosario A.

Yelp
I just moved to the area from the city and I've never had a problem with this issue. I was paying and the guy there asked me in Spanish (I'm latina and I know the girls there don't speak English very well) if I had payed what I had in my bag. It was detergent cause I was coming from the laundromat. He made me show him my bag. I know he wouldn't have made me show him my bag if I wasn't Latina and like I said, this has never happened to me in the city. I was about to tell him that my wallet costs more than what he makes in a month but I just didn't want to be in his level. That's all. That is all I wanted to write...

Chavisa W.

Yelp
This place is more expensive than Whole Foods prices, but the food is all about to expire, and sometimes, it is well beyond expiration. I have returned food that was well expired here, repeatedly. A bag of sausage that was literally rotting in the bag, molded cheese and mushrooms... it's disgusting. They seem to be buying old food that other grocers would throw away at whole sale prices, and marking it up to Manhattan gourmet supermarket prices. The prices here also make no sense. They change constantly, usually going up. Last week I was buying eggs and saw the\at one dozen eggs was $4.49 and half a dozen eggs of the same type and brand, also,, $4.49. A gallon of milk is nearly $7.00 and it's $3.50 to $5.00 at other stores. And it goes bad in a couple of days. This place is a rip-off. I'm really tired of buying overpriced vegetables and groceries and having it go bad immediately. Even the mayonnaise, often has an expiration date that is just a few weeks away, which I have never seen on Mayo before. Mayo lasts forever, so how old is it, actually? City Fresh Market is definitely not fresh.

Germayoni V.

Yelp
best store in the neighborhood food always fresh, you won't regret it. Good customer service and clean supermarket

Jody T.

Yelp
Location on 106th street between 2 & 3rd Avenue will NOT honor an exchange of an item without a receipt. Essentially it was a small hole on the top of a jar of banana peppers that costs $3.69. Sorry I didn't catch the hole sooner as I packed away the groceries. Its unsafe to eat something that has been open for who knows how long it's been exposed! I worked for TJs and that's why TJs is killing the competition with their return/exchange policies. Do BETTER in East Harlem, times are hard and we spend money in the neighborhood!! I won't be shopping there again!

Debora R.

Yelp
Ive bought produce three times since I moved into the neighborhood. The meat was always bad. The price of food went up since the gentrification of the neighborhood but the quality of the food hardly followed.

Sherrel F.

Yelp
Their prepared salads are excellent. It's my to go place for late night food as it is open 24-7. It is amazing that a store of this quality is open continuously. Great olive bar. Great prepared food. Delicious selections, everything top knotch.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
I've been living in the area for a few months now and shopping at Fine Fare since it's closer. I walked by here and decided to check it out. WHAT ON EARTH. This supermarket is magical. It's spacious, clean, and has so much variety. It's open late, has Kombucha on tap, lots and lots of sweets for those late night munchies and all your other supermarket needs.

Kevin M.

Yelp
The produce is never any good. I got a few asian pears the other day and they were all bruised and mushy inside. Every time I go here I pray for a Trader Joes to open up in Bushwick.

Simono D.

Yelp
A very conviene store, opens 24 hours , friendly staff , high quality products , artisan cheese assortment, wide variety of vegan products , all Kinds of beers including seasonal ones . Their produce department is well maintain with organic and fresh fruits and vegetables . (anything you can possibly want at anytine of the day, i love it !!!!)

T C.

Yelp
I was in town visiting my daughter and we made a stop here to pick up some groceries... Well lots of groceries... I had been here a few years ago and Man, what an improvement. It's bigger than it looked and the selection of organic and healthier food options was quite good for a local market. We dropped $300 and what we got was significantly more than had we gone to wholefoods... Not to mention much more conveniently located. When they offered free delivery ( with a ride home) because we spent more than $50.. I was delighted! So much easier than heading elsewhere and so close to my daughters neighborhood. We will return!

Michelle K.

Yelp
This grocery store is way too overpriced and that's why I don't shop here. I've also had numerous times where the sale items did not ring up on sale, which is my biggest pet peeve. It's unfortunate because it is nice and seems pretty fresh compared to others in the area.

Malik J.

Yelp
great market for fresh seafood,Vegetables, fruits an much more this is the only supermarket I go to in Bushwick they always got what I need Oh I'm not gonna lie they are A little pricey but for good food an fruits I will pay

C W.

Yelp
Their pricing is always wrong and they leave old sales signs up on the shelves weeks after the promotion period is over. It's a clever scheme for them because I'm sure most people are too lazy or too embarrassed to return items just for that sake. All I can say is that it is very dishonest and I'll easily walk the extra half mile to Keyfood for more honest pricing and better value.

Phat N.

Yelp
Convenient place, but their bananas are garbage. They stack them up in one massive pile, so they're all bruised and rotten. Their fruit in general is a crapshoot, but the bananas are guaranteed to be wasted money.

Mike S.

Yelp
This grocery store routinely charges more than the marked amount. If you watch each item as it is scanned, you can catch it, and tell the cashier, they'll fix it. I've been going here for three years (there's not a better option) and there is a pricing mistake (always higher) about 2/3 of the time. The marked sales often mean nothing, as they will not scan as the lowered price at the register. Good selection but it's pretty straightforwardly dishonest establishment.

Jeremiah R.

Yelp
City fresh market is the best in NYC the community loves city fresh market the food is excellent the service is excellent quality the best customer service in NYC the juice bar and deli department is cool I love city fresh market

Katherine L.

Yelp
Good prices, especially when there is a sale. Unfortunately, the staff here is just not that good. I don't know how many times I've been charged for the wrong item. Radishes mistaken for beets, charged $6 per pound for some beans, green onions and leeks mistaken for one another, bananas for plantains... I come here to just buy packaged food or things with a barcode now.

Kailyn V.

Yelp
If I could give less than one star, I would. Went into the store today to check out deals and grab some water before heading back to work. After looking at a CBD product, I was followed around the store by an old Hispanic woman. When I was checking out, she told me to take "whatever I had in my pocket out and put it on the counter". She demanded very rudely to know where I put the container, to which I responded that I put the container back, and I showed her exactly where, taking her back to the stand. Afterwards, she demanded I empty out my pockets and open my bag and "show" her I was telling the truth. Knowing the law, I refused, and told her to check the cameras and call the police. When I said this, she backed off, but told me not to come back to the store, after making a very loud and obnoxious scene. Upon this incident, I don't think I will, despite my love for the store and frequent purchases. I did not think I would get profiled and attacked in my local supermarket.

Natasha R.

Yelp
My favorite super market in the world.... might be pricey but worth it...organic everywhere... yummy...

Mrs. T.

Yelp
Overly expensive and they have expired products on their shelves. I once bought a salad dressing that was 3 months old from the date of expiration. Noticed it when I opened the bottle and the stich hit me like a truck...anyway the manager is mean and serious looking and avoids anyone who tries to ask her question. I only go here when I am running low on bananas and ice cream but try to avoid shopping here.
