"Healthy salads are at the heart of the locally grown City Greens founded by entrepreneurs Abhi Bhansali and Ben Kazenmaier in 2012. The Freret Street location is the second in their portfolio, with a trademark seasonal menu fueled by the company’s own hydroponic farm in Cottondale, Florida as well as other local growers. Build your own bowl, pick up a family meal, or try verdant combos with ingredients like avocado, quinoa, and sous vide beets." - Beth D'Addono

I have had some good experiences at City Greens, but today I ordered a salad and added chicken for takeout and when I got back to the office, they hadn't put any chicken on it. I suppose I could have gone back but I would have had to use time from work. Good thing I like their food! Next time, I'm going to check it before I leave.

Other locations put decent amount of dressing to ensure that you are not eating a dry salad. This location apparently placed the smallest amount of dressing possible when I picked up my order. I am not going to drive back to get more dressing, just will not eat there anymore. Make sure you have enough unless you want it dry. I ended up using my own caesar dressing.

Finally was able to visit City Greens and I really enjoyed everything! Fairly quick to say I went during lunch and the customer service was on point. Would gladly go again.

Google
Great healthy pick up option! Order from here all the time without any issues. Side note: I would like the option in seamless/ other apps to request how much dressing (I do not like a lot, but the last reviewers apparently does) and also a button to request chopped or tossed. There’s no option to leave a comment either. I think those things would be helpful.

This is one of my favorite lunches in New Orleans!!! Healthy and fresh food ALWAYS. So many yummy options, i’ve never gotten something I don’t like. Plus, everything is very customizable. You can even get a salad as a wrap. My favorite is the truffle caesar on a spinach wrap (add chicken, tomatoe, and onion). Also, there’s a few ladies who work here who do an EXCELLENT job. They’re so efficient at taking orders and remembering special requests. Never had an order made wrong and i’ve been when it is busy. Highly recommend!! Great for takeout too!!

The manager asked us to leave at 8:01 pm while we were still eating tonight. That's extremely rude. You can tell when people don't care about a business or people. They do had plenty to do and instead of letting us finish our terrible salad while they finished, they asked us to leave. I also asked for almost no arugula and they put mostly what I asked not to have. They also put less dressing than I asked for by far. I get the one girl is new but the manager asking us to leave was beyond me. I tipped her 25% and I regret it.

The food is good, but the stores are super inconsistent. There are some items you can only get at the Freret St. location, which is fine, but then when I get to the location, they are out of other items and don't even carry hummus! It just makes ordering for a group very challenging, and at least as far as the hummus - unnecessarily so. On top of that, the service at the store was less than perfect. However, there was one employee (the girl with braces and piercings) who was stellar and extremely helpful.

Ordered through Uber eats. They forgot my chicken and extra cheese but didn't forget to charge for it. I'm here for a conference and we only have a short break, so i don't have time to go to the restaurant and have it fixed. If I did, I wouldn't have ordered delivery.

Yelp
Ok first of all, the salads we received at out hotel in The French Quarter (delivered by DoorDash) were fresh and one of them was full as one can get with a smallish bowl it comes in. The other salad was made more skimpy and did not come with the requested dressing which was so annoying. On top of that, no utensils. Basically, I was pleased with the product but not the service or attention to details. Especially because the salads each cost $20. Plus we also bought two bottles of water and chips from City Greens. The water did arrive cold which was good. Anyway, City Greens please get mad at whoever was making salads on Sunday night between 7pm and 9pm. Thank you

Yelp
This was my second time at City Greens. The first was years ago and my thoughts are still the same. It's a great quick and healthy option for lunch on the go. I don't think it's better than what I could make at home or get at a salad bar but the menu options are a little more unique. I got the Truffalo Caesar salad for $15. Basically a combo of a truffle caesar salad and buffalo chicken. It was good and a little more unique than your typical caesar (I'm a sucker for truffle but it wasn't overwhelming). Super friendly service, very fast and ingredients were fresh. I would go again!

Yelp
Coming from NYC, I'm used to 10 different salad places on my block so was super excited when I came across City Greens. I order from there 1-2 times a week and think their quality is consistent and never had any issues! I recommend the spicy peanut dressing, it's my personal favorite!

Yelp
I had no idea that this location existed until I found it while I was in the neighborhood. The decor is hip and cool, and the food is fresh and delicious. I had the Yes Yuzu salad and loved it! The tuna was delicious and the mango added just the right amount of sweetness. The pickled red onion was such a pleasant surprise for me. I didn't know if I'd like it, but it was perfect. I almost always go with the Beet Street Salad, but I'm glad I tried something new. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Yum! Ordered City Greens on Ubereats and got the BBQ chicken wrap with a Spanish tortilla. Delivery was quick and the wrap had great flavor. Only complaint is there's no way to specifiy dressing on the side on the app, and the wrap was drenched in the aioli dressing - making the tortilla soggy. It also has a bit of a kick, so heads up!

Claire R.

Yelp
I love City Greens! The southwest salad and beet street salad are my favorites. Everything is super fresh and the portions are huge. I enjoy their daily soup specials as well. Sometimes they can be slightly inconsistent but I've found that they've been great lately. The only negative is that they don't open until 12:00pm which is kinda late for lunch for me, but I still wait because it's that good.

Yelp
Just visited City Greens on Freret for the first time on today and I love the vibe here! Earlier in the week I noticed they would be opening soon, so I was anticipating grabbing a salad after a gym sesh. Plus, I had never had City Greens before! As soon as I walked in I was a fan of the spot. It's super clean, well air-conditioned and the wall art inside is so colorful and fun. I appreciate that they have charging ports near the wall, because I had just left the gym with my phone dying. I was greeted by the staff who let me know they could answer any questions I may have. I winded up going with the Southwest Salad ($8.95) which consists of avocado, black beans, corn, tomato, shaved onion, pepper jack, blue corn chips, romaine, mixed greens and a bomb jalapeño lime dressing! The dressing is clearly my favorite part of this salad. I was hesitant about the taste of it at first, but the employees encouraged me to taste test it and after trying it, I was immediately hooked. It really brings out the flavor of the vegetables. They even offered me a complimentary piece of bread, which I couldn't pass up! On the side I got one of their in-house made lemonades, which was strawberry flavored. Super sweet and tangy and paired well with the salad. All of the ingredients were super fresh and flavorful. This spot is perfect for lunch on-the-go or even sitting inside. Great for after the gym or yoga. So glad to have more healthy options on Freret Street!

Yelp
Exceptionally delicious, healthy food at a great price ! I was absolutely shocked to see the low price point for my large, filling wrap made with healthy ingredients. The customer service was also remarkable. The gentleman preparing the food was diligent and polite. The manager was incredibly nice and obviously passionate about her job. Not everyday you have an experience like this.

Sabrina R.

Yelp
This place had so much potential but it was such a disappointment. Not only are the portions are extremely small and the quality of the food is extremely low. It sucks because I wanted to support this place.

Yelp
Shari V and I picked up from City Greens last night. We ate way heavy the night before so we (aka Shari) figured some salads would be a good idea to reset. We have liked other fast casual salad places but City Greens on Freret was a big let down. Shari V had the Cobb and I had Wagyu Barbacoa. Mine was not terrible. It was totally edible so nothing gross. The salad was just blah. Lots of leafy greens which were fresh adjacent, but there was minimal corn, tomato and onions. Sweet corn dressing was decent. Shari V's cobb was similar. Not bad. I think she finished hers. The gripe was the lack of avocado, tomato and bacon. In the end, I ate half of mine, and then I came to my senses. It was early enough to where I could trash the salad and go pick up something else. In the end, I had a hot dog and milk shake from Dat Dog. No regrets about that. In short, we will not repeat City Greens.

Kristen M.

Yelp
I'm so grateful to have another "light" option in Uptown. I love fried foods and cream sauces (I mean, I'm not a monster!), but sometimes I need a break from it. They have a large menu with lots of customization available. I'm not sure of the exact name, but I got a southwestern themed salad with barbacoa. It was delicious, huge, and worth the price tag. 1/2 of that portion would have filled me up, so consider sharing with someone, or getting the dressing on the side and taking leftovers for lunch.

Zachary A.

Yelp
I wanted a salad thing. They had it. It wasn't expensive. It was good. The counter kids was nice. The meats were solid. The lettuces crisp. Imma tell you something though: the black tea is AMAZEBALLS. Imma gonna spend plenty tea-money here you wanna bet. Safe bet. I'd take it. Imma come hither just for the tea. Yep.

Amita R.

Yelp
So happy they are on Uber Eats now and we all have healthier options to order in!! The Thai Chicken wrap on whole wheat tortilla was delicious! Lots of great flavor and chicken. Would definitely try other things here. The Spinach and Kale Better Things chips were amazing also!!!

Nick A.

Yelp
It's a chain. Good salads if you know what you're getting. Hard to mess that up. Had a weird interaction with one of the employees though. I was letting him finish up a to go order so I was waiting to order, and after about 5 minutes of working around his station...he stares at me. He never asks me if I was ready and I said "oh I'm sorry I thought you were packing a to go order" and he says I've been waiting for you. Kind of weird. Weird enough to post about. Salad was good though.

Yelp
I was incredibly disappointed by the ginger teriyaki bowl I got here the other day. While the atmosphere was nice and vegetable selection was diverse, the actual bowl was almost inedible. The greenery was wilted and did not seem fresh at all, and the roasted peppers were flavorless and slimy. It seems like the order wasn't executed correctly because the description said kale but I got romaine, however the bowl ended up being near inedible. I ended up eating the rice and chicken out and throwing the rest away. A total waste of $14.

Tanya P.

Yelp
Ordered a Cobb Salad. Did not get a cobb salad..Salad was wilted and brown, no dressing on salad, paid 25 cents for extra dressing and it was not given, no bacon etc... the salad looked and tasted 4 days old. Will not order from here again and advise you not too as well. Has to throw away, very DISAPPOINTED AND HUNGRY. #Hangry #BadBusiness.

Rachel P.

Yelp
This location needs some help, badly. Whoever cooks the items like the butternut squash, Brussels sprouts and black beans for the salads (that you usually have to pay extra for) doesn't actually really cook them so they are basically raw. I just threw them away off the salad. The lettuce never seems super fresh. This isn't the first time I've had these problems here. Please whoever reads this inform the folks working at this location to cook the food that needs to be cooked and maybe actually care about the food quality. I think people love having a salad place in the hood and you would have more business if the quality of this food was better bc the concept is good. I know I'd go more if I didn't keep having disappointing experiences. Thank you!

Danielle C.

Yelp
The decor is super nice, clean and modern. Lots of menu options at a fair price. But the salad was just okay. It seems like a Sweet greens knockoff and it is. There's just something missing in terms of flavor that can't replace that. Not sure I'll be back.

Keeanna T.

Yelp
Just ordered a salad from this establishment and ordered a custom salad never once did the guy say each topping was a dollar so here I am with a SMALL 20+ dollar salad. When I asked him why was it so much he said I thought I knew. It was my first time going and my last.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Meh. Only one girl making the salads so the wait was annoying, but I love city greens so worth the wait right? Wrong. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, get all the way to the end of the line, and the worker put the wrong sauce on the entree. Only for another worker to finally come out the back and tell her that they're out of teriyaki sauce to make the bowl as listed. So not only did she put the wrong sauce on, they didn't even have the teriyaki in the first place. THIS IS THE ITEM I CAME FOR. I settled for a hastily prepared Thai wrap as a salad. It was as meh as my experience. Advice? Have more than one worker on the line during dinner time (7pm) and know what ingredients you have available before wasting food making entrees that you can't complete. I'll stick to the Metairie and Elmwood locations.

Riley M.

Yelp
Quite possibly one of the worst salads I've ever had. It was so bad that I just now downloaded the Yelp app to post this review. It was almost inedible there was so much dressing on it and it had hardly any toppings. I maybe got 1/4 of an avocado and 1/2 of a single boiled egg. Not quite sure what I paid $10 for.

Christy C.

Yelp
Was so excited to have a City Greens near work, but my last two visits to the Freret store have been less than stellar. Very stingy with the lettuce.

C C.

Yelp
Super cute inside, really enjoyed their Summer House salad (added chicken). Just tried the Yes Yuzu, good, but lacked flavor/seasoning.

Linda G.

Yelp
Great place for fresh salads with homemade dressings! Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Enjoyable lunch!

Chriss K.

Yelp
Ordered take out here for the first time and the food was delicious. My husband and I live near this new location on Freret Street and were excited to see a healthy option open up in our area. It was Saturday night, baby was asleep in her room, so we thought we would give take out a try. He ordered the bbq chicken wrap and I got the mushroom and rice bowl. Ingredients were all fresh and portions were great. I felt full after but not a bad full like I just ate a burger and fries...a more healthy full! We will be back!

Theresa S.

Yelp
I was NOT impressed with the food. The Caesar dressing was terrible. The Parmesan cheese was also terrible. Thank God I got my food to go and doctored it up to stomach it

R L.

Yelp
Very fresh lettuces and condiments!!! Friendly and Efficient staff!!! Tasty Healthy Fast option.

Heather H.

Yelp
So fresh and yummy. Friendly staff and clean, well-decorated space. This location also has some delicious warm bowls in addition to salads.
