City Tacos

This is an awesome place to take kids and dogs and friends. The tacos are amazing, and they serve alcoholic beverages they even have a little dog park section and your dogs can wander around on leash. They have games and a Little flower Shop it has tutorials and a coffee shop that offers puppuccinos with a little treat for your doggy. My friends and I had such a great time here chillin. Looking forward to coming back soon.

The food was amazing!! I had shrimp taco and fish taco, my husband had carne asada tacos. We also had chips and guacamole. So delicious!! And the owner of the food truck in the front got us churros! Definitely try OB surf cafe too!! They also are pet friendly!

They’re not traditional taco place but they have wonderful tacos homemade tortillas great atmosphere people are wonderful. They have lots of games to enjoy like .corn hole Jenga ,craps. They have a lot of vegetarian options since they down by the beach very dog friendly. They also have ice cream. Various of the desserts a must try when you come to ocean beach..

Okay so this is the third City Taco that we visited. We're trying to visit them all to give them all a fair rating and I must say this is the most interesting one that we visited thus far. We have been to North Park City Taco we have been to Pacific Beach City Taco now we are at the Ocean Beach City taco. So let's talk about what's interesting about this City Taco but first let's talk about the atmosphere. The atmosphere was quite quaint I must say. They had an eclectic array of different colored tables and chairs! I don't have a pet, but they had a dog park I mean it's a cute little setup. In the same lot you have the little floral shop in the mix as well as a place where you can get acai, smoothies and breakfast. I can only really explain it through pictures. So here's the interesting part you enter as if you're going into an actual restaurant. But the guy goes over to a food truck to get your food. Now mind you everything tastes and looks like the other two places it's just coming from a food truck. I found this to be super interesting. Anyway here's the pics.

It was a bit tough to snag a space on an early Saturday afternoon but we were able to find a close spot after searching for few minutes. Lovely environment...colorful and lively scene. Seating and decor were well-maintained and welcoming. Lots of delicious options. Tacos and ingredients were super fresh and very tasty...authentic. Reasonably priced. All staff were friendly and helpful. Would love to return to try some other items. Family friendly.

Best street tacos! They came out within 10 minutes (ordered 7 in total). They stuff these tacos full of protein, veggies, sauces and seasoning! The atmosphere is relaxing and clean

Tacos are pretty good solid 7/10. All 4 of my kids ate the food and everyone enjoyed their meal. The ambiance is everything. Very family friendly.

I really like this spot! Picnic benches everywhere with games, it's a fun spot. There are food trucks on site of other businesses on site. We arrived right after opening on a Tuesday so it was empty. They have a lot of options, I got the Carnitas Taco and my friend got the November Taco. The tacos were good! I would come back.

Delicious tacos! Crunch time shrimp taco - unique, flavorful, amazing taco Mexicali - tremendous flavor, the cheesy layer was delicious too Pescado - also scrumptious I'll definitely be back!

We went around 4:30pm on a Wednesday and were the only ones there. After about an hour it started to get busy. Spacious seating, room for kids to roam around and play its outdoor but they do have heaters (it was chilly we turned them on) The lady behind the register was nice. It was 6 of us and it was $82 for 15 tacos. It took a little while to get food. I noticed she continuously would go over your the food truck and you would have to get a drink or order because it seemed only one person was working. They have s variety of salsas which were all pretty good and I'm glad because the food was a little bland. The best one I had was the chile relleno. Surf and turf was ok and the Mexicali was pretty bland. Out of the 6 of us 4 of us said the same food was ok and lacked flavor the other 2 enjoyed. I might try it again but nothing makes me want to come back unless I'm with a group it is good for a group of people to hang out have some beer and play some cornhole. Oh and they have a little dog park if you happen to have your dog with you.

Had a lunch here at this cool corner spot and it is a special location! The tacos are special and the condiment stations are terrific! Service is friendly and helpful!!! Plenty of parking in their lot and on the street. There is a separate patio for pets and an outstanding patio for patrons! There is a flower shop and coffee trailer there as well. It's a great spot for families or a date!

My sister and Brother-in-law came to visit my wife and I in San Diego and we had City Tacos on Pacific Beach and noticed there was a location on Ocean Beach. Score! We drove over and they have a large outdoor spot with a dog run and a flower shop and some other trucks on site. We entered and ordered some tacos, I got the Mexicali and Birria Taco with a Sculpin IPA. (One of the best beers in America) We sat at an outside picnic table and our food came out pretty quickly. I took a bite of the Mexicali and it was the best taco I have ever had in my memory. Great sauce and tortilla with perfectly grilled steak strips. Amazing. The birria taco was almost as good, lots of great juice dripping off the taco and full of flavor. So good. I also tried my brother-in-laws fried fish taco with avocado and happiness. I noticed the had a Michelada on the menu as well, so I went back in and got one of those. Good flavor and I mixed it with Pacifico, great beer for a Michelada. You have to try this place in Ocean Beach. Pizza Port is right around the corner if tacos are not your thing. Another solid ten in Ocean Beach!

The Camaron Enchilado taco was another standout. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, with a nice spicy kick from the enchilado sauce. The Pescado taco featured a generous portion of grilled fish, topped with a tangy sauce. The fish was fresh and well-seasoned, making it a tasty and light option. The combination of flavors worked well together, offering a delightful seafood taco experience. Margarita Unfortunately, the margarita was a letdown. It came out of a can and didn't live up to expectations. The taste was lackluster and didn't complement the otherwise enjoyable meal. It's definitely worth exploring other drink options or sticking to their food menu. Overall City Tacos offers a great selection of flavorful and creative tacos that are sure to please any taco enthusiast. While the Mexicali, Camaron Enchilado, and Pescado tacos were impressive and delicious, the canned margarita was a disappointment. Despite this hiccup, the overall dining experience was positive, and I would recommend City Tacos for their inventive taco offerings.

The vibe here is great! Super laid back - great, dog friendly patio with games like cornhole. Even a mini dog park. You'll order up at the counter, and then they'll bring your food out to you if you get a number. Selection of beer and wine... or take your tacos across the street to the brewery where they don't sell food. Street parking only.

Came here on a Tuesday evening and it wasn't that crowded thankfully. The weather was nice so sitting outside was pleasant. I had a carnitas taco and a surf and turf taco. The carnitas taco was kinda dry but the surf and turf taco was really good. Would go back.

One of the best tacos in San Diego! There are several locations around San Diego, and this was located in a heart of ocean beach. Walkable from the beach ish.. they did have 4-5 parking spots for the place but mostly street parking only. You order ahead of them, get the number for the table and they bring out the food for you. Looks like food is made in their taco truck. We've tried Mexicali, quesibirria, SD carne asada and quesadilla. My favorite was SD carne asada. Full with toppings, great flavor of the meat. It's mostly outdoors so it's very dog friendly!

City Tacos is not a bad spot to grab tacos if you're spending the day in OB! The tacos run about the same as most specialty taco places in San Diego with the same mix of beef, chicken, seafood, etc options. They have a rotating taco of the month that was scallop based for July '24 and pretty tasty! They also have a few beers on tap from local breweries, which is a nice addition. The searing is primarily outdoors or on a covered porch area, so might be a little tough to find a good spot in inclement weather. Street parking is easy and free.

We were enjoying a beer and a seltzer across the street from City Tacos at Mike Hess Brewing in OB. We decided tacos sounded great. Mike Hess has the City Tacos menu QR code at their tables. Even better you can order right there from your table as well, then just walk over and grab your food. What's more, Hess offers a 15% discount off of your tab with a City Tacos receipt. Although in my case it was the big bag o' tacos that I walked in with, no receipt necessary. *Mexicali grilled angus-steak, onions & poblano peppers over melted asadero cheese & mashed potatoes, finished with a crema fresca and cotija cheese sprinkle 4.50 Definitely a classic. Mashed potatoes on a taco? Hellz to the yezzz! *Chorizo Asado grilled pork chorizo with caramelized pineapple over melted Asadero cheese 4.50 Still my favorite City Taco right now. Chorizo, caramelized pineapple and Asadero cheese is a winning combination! *Crunch Time Shrimp Taco shrimp, bacon and cheese within a crispy corn tortilla topped with pico de gallo, cabbage and avocado drizzled w/ jalapeño salsa and crema fresca over melted asadero cheese on a flour tortilla 4.50 Fantastic shrimp taco. I loved the crispy corn tortilla. The shrimp was breaded and fried to perfection. Bacon too? Are you kidding me right now? The salsa was fire! *Quesabirria del Norte au jus infused (mulita) quesadilla with slow-cooked pulled beef (Guadalajara style) finished with onions and cilantro 4.50 Becky loved this. The beef was perfect. Tender and juicy. Please note that it is not served with a side of consommé. Bex didn't care. *Frijoles Charros pinto beans with pork trio (chorizo, ham, carnitas) asadero and cotija cheeses, finished with tomato, onion, cilantro & grilled chili pepper 6.25 I've said it before, I'll say it again. The. Best. Beans.

Tried for the first time around lunch. There was only one other customer which was surprising for a new business with so much seating available. We got the Mexicali, Portobello, Camarón enchilado, Pollo Asado. The Mexicali was my least favorite. We both thought there was way too much cheese. I thought the portobello was okay. Felt like it was missing something flavor wise but it was actually my husbands favorite. Camarón enchilado was my favorite. Super delicious taco. Shrimp was cooked nicely, still juicy. The thin layer of golden cheese on the taco. Very delicious. The pollo asado has potential to be delicious except the chicken was over cooked and quite dry. Maybe the place gets busier in the evenings when it's cooler to enjoy the uncovered seating and games.

It it's not often that a business with several locations can truly duplicate their food and experience at all of them, but I have found City Tacos to do exactly that. My family lives in Ocean Beach and we were excited when we found out where the next location was going to be. What I love about the OB City Tacos is the outdoor experience. They basically took a parking lot and made it their dining area. They do all of their kitchen work from a food truck to save on space and I'm sure cost. Genius. This outdoor vibe truly fits OB well and even though my Carne Asada tacos are a pretty basic order for them, I did enjoy them. I do like the fact that they have a couple of veggie options as well. There are a lot of Mexican food options in San Diego, but I'm happy that this one is consistent and close to where we live.

City Tacos. Say that 10xs fast! But any fan of Southpark knows about city Sushi And City Wok. This place is NOT that. The service here is fantastic and the food is good (Not Amazing) but the atmosphere and family friendly outdoor ocean beach location makes this a MUST go. Bring the kids and enjoy a fun early dinner or lunch. Bathrooms are clean! I know what your thinking, clean bathroom in OB?! Say it ain't so. It is so, and I would poop here again! 5 stars

Delicious tacos that feel healthier because of some ingredients. Granted the pork rind on the carnitas may not feel healthy, but arugula and sliced almonds on the chicken does! The tortillas are better here than other taco shops. We like to eat outside because we walk over with our dog. The staff is friendly and brings food out to us. Tuesdays special includes 10% off all food all day, and beers are discounted too. Easy parking in the lot behind them in front of Brandy Melville. Monthly special is always an innovative twist, but still a regular price.

Brought the dogs to the beach vacation and while wondering the streets we found City Tacos. So absolutely delicious! The service was great! The young lady at the counter gave us some suggestions and wow we're impressed! She suggested the Pescado (I think that was how it's spelled) taco and we have now gone back multiple times! Fresh fish, fresh tortillas, was surprisingly tasty because it has strawberries!! Amazing vibes, outdoor fire, corn hole....great place to hang out or take tacos to go!

Absolutely love their food! MUST GET their carne asada tacos and shrimp tacos. If you get nothing else, just get those two. Coupled with their mango salsa and habanero, you'll be in heaven. They have such good micheladas as well to wash it all down. There are a few tables inside but the venue is mostly for the outdoor turfed area with tables and umbrellas where you can bring your dogs to hang with you while you grab a bite. The service is great, they're super friendly and come help clean up at your tables which I thought was super nice and unexpected.

Family and I stopped by after dinner at OB Noodle House. We were visiting from SF over Thanksgiving week. We had a surf and turf taco, a cider and two ice cream bars for the kiddos. I heard about city tacos from this site called san diego mamas, and it was listed as a great family friendly food spot. We only had one taco, but it was so good! The corn tortilla was fresh and sweet, the fish and shrimp were so fresh. Everything was cooked and prepped to perfection. Unfortunately we already had dinner so didn't have room for a second dinner. The wait staff made sure we were comfortable and offered to turn on the heat lamps for us. There was also plenty of room for kids to run around and play. If we visit SD again we will definitely be back!

Taco Tuesday date night! Hands down the best, they make their tortillas homemade to order. We got 2 chili relleno tacos, one birria taco and the taco of the month smoked tuna with 2 beers for only $23.00!

Loved everything about City Tacos! I got the Camaron Enchilado and Chile Relleno tacos, both were delicious! The ambiance was great, they have corn holes, fire pits, foosball, and many other games. The service is also great, the staff continuously made sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend this place for good tacos and a place to hang out.

Fun taco spot not too far from the OB dog beach. Great outdoor space with plenty of room for outdoor games and even has a dog run! The tacos were all solid but definitely not the best I've had in the area. The night we came it was slammed but the food and drink all came out pretty quickly.

The fish tacos are the best in San Diego! And I crushed the corn hole games! The shrimp tacos were fire, and the carnitas.

Only got chips and salsa, both were great. Nice outdoor space to chill with friends - good vibe.

So good we came here twice (so far) during our stay in OB. So many options for flavors! The tortillas are super fresh. I had the carne, who knew mashed potato would slap on a taco?? shrimp, pescado, chile relleno, mahi, kids quesataco (a taco sized quesadilla) and a couple others.. all were awesome. The vibe there is open air family friendly with games and plenty of seating. (We got our food to go both times) It's quick and casual and was within walking distance to the beach. Good drink selection too, though we did not order any either time. I fed myself and two teens + dessert for about $40 so you can't beat that..

Not all City tacos are created equally. I must say that this city Taco is better than the others. I'm not sure if it's the manager or the workers or the environment that makes this location stand out from the rest. I like coming here because the food tastes fresh and it seems that they put more care into it here. Service is great here also. All the workers are always so friendly and helpful. The worst thing about this place is parking. Being in Ocean Beach it has a laid-back vibe and the atmosphere just seems more welcoming. Whenever I come here I always go for a fish taco, shrimp taco, chorizo taco. The fish here is fresh and crispy as well as the shrimp. And the chorizo tacos just gives me a nice variety to the fried seafood texture and taste. I especially like the chorizo taco because I can't seem to get this same taste of treats so outside of here. They have this certain taste to it that others don't. So a lot of times I'll get two of these and thoroughly enjoy it.

Tacos are EXCELLENT. I've lived in San Diego over a couple years now and these are the freshest tortillas I've tasted in a while (the corn is *chef's kiss)! And if you are veg, the non-meat options do not disappoint. The server taking my order was friendly and gave great recommendations and by the time I sat down my food was brought to my table within minutes! Ambiance is very laid back and casual with walking distance from the beach and lot's of nearby bars. Nothing more I could've asked for, 10/10 recommend for your taco cravings

So dissatisfied disappointed first they made a mess of the block that they have nothing is organized it looks like your in jail and the food it's ok but the wait times are super ridiculous. It could have been so much better !

Welcome to Ocean Beach City Tacos! Seems like a natural partnership already. Great place to take the family for tacos, very relaxing atmosphere and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the brand new spread including but not limited to lots of grass, a gated separate doggy area, string of lights, hopscotch, corn hole, giant connect four, an adorable flower stand, an assortment of beer... I could go on but just go visit yourself!

Parking , doggy vibe and Foosball friendly prelude to serious street tacos rivaling DC Zona rosa quality. The intuitive cashier can just look at you and tell you which one of their 6 specials would match best

Chorizo and pineapple taco for the absolute win. Also love the carnitas with the crispy chicharron. Great open seating area for kids and dogs to run and play

Super creative tacos and super friendly staff. They even provide recommendations when you're overwhelmed by the menu. The mahi mahi was so good but also the shrimp Diablo. Chill space and dog friendly. Will for sure be back.

Israel and boris awesome people best taco addition ever. Forever a fan! Forgot my backpack/purse they held it for me! I'm a next door neighbor and have been here at least a dozen times, always so epic! Can't wait for the menu extension/corn to come on the menu. Go to Carnitas, surf and turf, now my new fav scallop bacon taco! yumm! Good job boys

Great tacos, still not as good as Puesto though. The menu is a bit confusing because they don't put all the fish tacos together, chicken tacos together, beef tacos together, etc. We got quite a few tacos and quesadillas - everything was good! The quesadillas are reasonably priced but they're small quesadillas (not the big ones like at Señor Grubby's FYI). The ambiance is very cute with lights and spacious seating. It was a bit cold at night though, and the parking lot is quite small, but this place is still really solid.

The tacos were great, I really enjoyed the one with potatoes in it (I think it was Mexicali) fish tacos were also pretty good. This is great for people that have children because they are EVERYWHERE. I do not have children so found myself a little annoyed by them but that's just me. I will definitely be back but will probably take my tacos across the street to Mike Hess and enjoy them there.
