"Opening Thursday, September 21 at the corner of Voltaire and Cable Streets in Ocean Beach, the seventh City Tacos in San Diego County—called OB Playground—is the chain’s largest location, occupying nearly half of a 10,000-square-foot space with a turfed “taco garden” under shade sails that can hold close to 200 guests. With its own parking lot and murals created by neighborhood artists, the open-air venue features a mix of seating from picnic and bar-height tables to fire-pit bench seating, as well as life-size games like chess and Connect 4 plus dominos and Jenga. The family-friendly site also includes a dedicated dog park with real grass, a fake fire hydrant and interactive toys, a paleta cart, a floral store that will carry pet items, and a vintage Volkswagen van transformed into a rotating retail shop for small businesses. The counter-service restaurant’s menu mirrors other outposts, offering bestselling tacos such as chorizo asado with grilled pineapple and cheese and flambeed scallops in pepper cream with squash, scallions and bacon, served alongside local beer on tap, wine and hard seltzers." - Candice Woo
