"Cafe Jax is a comfortable neighborhood coffee shop with a good amount of seating. Most of the tables are small and pretty close to each other, so this isn’t the spot for power brokers to plot a hostile takeover. Fortunately, this is the Upper East Side, so local residents can use their parlor rooms and smoking dens for meetings of that nature." - Matt Tervooren

"The Upper East Side may have the highest ratio of Starbucks to neighborhood coffee shops of any neighborhood in Manhattan. This, along with the fact that it’s open till 9pm every night, makes Cafe Jax worth knowing about. It’s a casual spot with snacks and plenty of small tables, which are useful if you’re looking to meet a friend or get some work done." - Matt Tervooren

Great coffee shop to get work or studying done. The downstairs portion has a lot of seating with a working-vibe. No loud music. People are respectful of others. Honey latte was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite spots for studying and reading. Wifi is always excellent.

Slightly disappointing: the coffee is good and the staff were friendly, but they really missed an opportunity with the space/decor. Upstairs is slightly cramped, which is to be expected in Manhattan, and downstairs is huge (the footprint of an entire townhouse), but completely spartan aside from warning signs. Every single surface has aggressive red signage telling customers to clear up, keep the door shut, don’t bring in outside food etc. I appreciate they may have trouble with people camping out in the space but there are other ways to handle this. Even the front door has an unwelcoming warning message about the rules. Plus the furniture is just on the wrong side of eclectic (it’s falling apart).

This is a nice, spacious cafe in UES. There are a lot of seating options on the quiet bottom floor, and the top floor is more chill with hip music playing and dimmer lighting. The two options make the cafe great for reading, working, or conversing. I ordered the Arnold Palmer and wasn't impressed with the drink, but their other drinks might be better.

Friendly, easy, chill, lovely. The lavender shot is exciting. Would love to see a non-plastic lid option, next time I’ll ask for a larger cup and no lid. A variety of seating.

Great coffee, interesting decor and vibe, and tons of seating downstairs. Darcy at the register was super sweet and helpful. Went twice and will probably go back again.

I've been to this coffee shop a few times now, and ai absolutely love this place. The drinks I've tried have beenr eally good and thr barsitas seem very friendly and knowledgeable about what they have. I love the interior setup and how comfortable I feel being there and working on my laptop. They just make it easy to be there, for a while and get some work done. They also have a lot of space available downstairs as well as some seating upstairs.

Best latte I've ever had! Good place to work and read - Suggestions: - get a big fan downstairs - it's super muggy here, and a better toilet for the bathroom (bigger oval toilet seat for the guys and gals to use) and fix the hand dryer ~ Overall very cool place

Drinks are expensive, quality, but as good elsewhere for cheaper. The soundtrack bounces between classics that tap along with your foot to obscure ambient, but the chairs are comfortable and the space peaceful.
