"Parked on the shared patio of Hotel Vegas and Volstead Lounge, Clandestino is a taco trailer open Thursday-Sunday. The menu focuses on “Mexican-inspired street foods,” so you can expect things like street tacos and quesadillas in the evenings, and a brunch menu available on Sundays with chilaquiles and migas burritos." - Nicolai McCrary

"Behind her, chef Lauro Romero — formerly of the lauded restaurant República, but now on his own via his pop-up Clandestino — preps for the night in the open-format kitchen, bags of masa and quart containers of pickled onions arranged around cutting boards." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Such a nice place that totally blew our expectations. We chose the date night menu and got a great set of dishes for a decent price. The buck a shuck oysters were also so good. By the end of the evening, everything was so much better than we expected and looking forward to come back here again.

Lovely family owned restaurant with a gorgeous ambiance, fantastic food, and wonderful team running this restaurant. My partner and I had a lovely date night experience with the date night menu. Everything was splendid. We enjoyed trying some new items outside of our comfort zone (the charcuterie amuse bouche) as well as some longtime favourites (arancini and duck leg). Overall, we had a wonderful experience and I look forward to coming back! Truly, everything was fantastic. I was shocked seeing some of the negative reviews- if you’re considering visiting this spot and that’s holding you back, please take the chance and come by. Truly 10/10 start to finish.

Highly recommend! The date night special is super worth but also they have buck a shuck everyday? Date night special ($120) is available everyday and includes: snack plate, 2 apps, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 drinks which can be changed to wine. Service was great and my friend and I felt cared for :) Only things that we didn’t care too much about but could be changed were the signage for the place, it looks great but it’s easy to pass by. They also only have 1 washroom but it is wheelchair accessible! What we got: Caprese salad Lobster tail Flank steak with chimichurri Cheese board Pana cota Lots of oysters!

We came here to try out their Date Night package and we were so impressed with our experience. This is a family-owned restaurant that offers a cozy and friendly atmosphere and service. The owners, who run the restaurant, are very friendly and take the time to connect with the customers. They deeply care about providing the best quality food and experience. The Date Night package includes 1 Amuse Bouche, 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, a bottle of house red or white wine (or an individual drink from the menu, 1 drink per person) and a dessert platter, for $120; which is a great price. They have impressive variety on their menu which changes every 3 weeks. We ordered “Octopus” and “Steak Tartare” for appetizers. Octopus was one of the most tender ones I have ever had. Steak Tartare was perfectly seasoned and we loved the flavours. For main, we ordered “Top Sirloin Steak” (mediums rare) and “Grilled Rack of Lamb”. The steak was so tender that we could cut it without much effort. Lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We loved both of the main dishes. The dessert platter was the perfect way for finishing our meal; it included: Lychee Pana Cota, Tiramisu, Ricotta Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse. My favorite was Pana Cota. Since this is dry January for us, they were kind enough to prepare mocktail for us; which was a great pairing to our dinner.

Discovering this quaint little spot was such a treat! With an amazing set menu perfect for sharing, it’s the ideal place to gather with friends. The dishes just kept coming—delicious, generous portions paired perfectly with wine and fantastic company. We kicked off the experience with some oysters and explored new flavors I hadn’t tried before. It was a culinary adventure that felt cozy yet elevated—great vibes all around.

Clandestino is a hidden gem! The owner just knows everything on the menu is amazing, and he’s right. Their Date Night deal is unreal—$120 for a charcuterie board, a bottle of wine, two apps, two mains, and four little desserts. That’s unheard of in Toronto! Standouts for me were the lychee panna cotta and dark chocolate mousse cake—I’m still thinking about them. The scallops were some of the best I’ve ever had, and the oysters were next level with their homemade sauces. 10s across the board! I almost didn’t want to review this place because it’s that good.

Excellent food for a fair price. The service throughout of the whole meal was incredible. The house wine was delicious, and would definitely recommend doing the date night special. The bone marrow gnocchi was extremely delicious, and the lamb chops were excellent even though there was only 2. The beef tartar being part of the deal as an appetizer was a huge plus and very delicious. Would recommend to small parties and couples.

Amazing experience. We went here for my partner’s birthday and honestly I couldn’t ask for a better experience. Delicious meals at an unbeatable price. Staff were so friendly and treated us with free drinks and upgrades. I recommend them to anyone who’s looking for a spectacular experience with supporting local businesses
