Claridge House

"It's not easy to find peace and quiet around the Gold Coast, but Claridge House somehow manages to provide a calm oasis in the middle of one of Chicago's busiest neighborhoods. You can thank the hotel's fresh renovation, which transformed the 165-room former Hotel Indigo into a relaxing home away from home: warm gray walls and light features in the lobby, tastefully minimal rooms with cozy throw blankets, and a luxurious spa located on the second floor. And when you're ready to turn up the energy a few notches, you can simply step outside of the hotel to find museums and restaurants filling every street—plus the shores of Lake Michigan just a 0.3 miles away. Claridge House truly offers the best of both worlds."

It's a great location in the Chicago-land area, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, however you've got to keep on top of the front desk and housekeeping services to make certain that you receive an adequate, daily, room cleaning service. One day my son and I left to enjoy our time in the city, and we returned to find that our beds were not made, and no fresh towels in place. I don't expect "turndown" service (although perhaps they should) but certainly when you inform the front desk that your room is ready to be cleaned, it ought to be at their convenience and completed that same day. Other than that it was a fantastic stay in a great city, the "City of Big Shoulders" Chicago!

I travel often and make a point to support boutique hotels whenever I can — it’s usually a more personal, curated experience. Unfortunately, Claridge House really missed the mark.||||The hotel may look cute in photos, but in reality, it felt run-down and neglected. My room had a persistent, musty smell — like mold — and didn’t feel clean. The building is definitely old, which isn’t inherently bad, but in this case, it came across as shabby rather than charming.||||The most frustrating part of my stay, though, happened after I checked out. I accidentally left behind my toiletry bag, which contained an essential prescription. I called the hotel three days in a row to try and get help locating it. One time I was put on hold for over 40 minutes — only to be disconnected. Each time, I explained it was urgent due to the medication inside. I never received a single call back. No follow-up, no concern, no accountability.||||I hate leaving negative reviews, and I really wanted to like this place. But when a hotel can’t be bothered to help a guest in a time-sensitive situation, it says a lot about their priorities. Claridge House has potential, but until they overhaul their service standards and basic cleanliness, I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

Google
Pros: LOCATION - incredible, walkable, quiet street, gorgeous neighborhood Lobby - nice space for working and nice you can grab a coffee or drink Price - very affordable for this neighborhood Cons: Staff - most lacked basic hospitality skills - unfriendly, bordering on rude at times (Cynthia at the front desk in particular). Basic questions/requests met with major attitude. I asked them to hold my bag and they told me to set it on a luggage cart in the middle of the lobby and they’d take it to the back room. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving until they put it in a secure location so I’ve been sitting here waiting for 20+ minutes for them to move it. No signs they intend to do this at any point. They didn’t even tag the bag so anyone could come take it. “Amenities fee” - $30 a night for what? There’s not even free coffee. No breakfast, no pool, no gym, no rooftop. Neutral: Rooms are just so so. The beds are nice but the rest of the room felt somewhat dirty but I suppose the price point for the room alone is fair.

Google
I really enjoyed this hotel, it has a bit more character than chain hotels for a price that is slightly cheaper. They do allow dogs, but everything felt clean and cared for (I did not have a dog with me). My only real issue was that the toilet paper holder was not attached to the wall and clearly needed repair. Breakfast isn’t included in the price.||I found the location to be perfect, walking distance to a swimming beach and a train line (and buses). Staff members were very friendly and helpful. I utilized the bag storage after check-out and the process was simple and smooth. I didn’t want to waste any time in Chicago, but if I had extra I would have taken advantage of their late check-out time of noon! I think it’s pretty rare that a hotel has such a late check-out and I appreciated not having to rush in the morning.

Google
I loved everything about my stay here. The room was clean and quiet. The staff was absolutely amazing. I called days before to ask questions and the gentleman was so helpful and kind. All the staff during my stay was equally helpful, accommodating, friendly and kind. (We were there for a concert and they helped us store our luggage, our concert bags and even froze my icepacks for my cooler to bring to Wrigley! Even the valet next door was amazing and helped me save some money booking the valet through an app. Cannot recommend this hotel enough! 5 stars all around!

Google
The hotel is in a decent spot with a 24/7 store down the block. Easy walking distance to the beach and bars. But the views and charging surprise extra fees at check-in just was not a good first interaction with the place. Disappointing experience with the hotel, but the staff were good and the trip was great. If you're debating here or another hotel, choose the other one, if it's a clear winner for whatever you're doing than it'll be fine.

Google
Nice location as it was very easy to walk to downtown and the Lincoln park area, but the rooms are a bit outdated and small. Lots of restaurants and parks nearby. You get the big city view without all of the hustle and bustle of the riverfront area. The staff are very friendly! We used the S&P parking ramp the street over to park to save on parking expenses.

Google
Recently stayed here for three nights and had an enjoyable time. Everyone was very friendly from check-in, to room service. My only complaint was that after our stay we were billed an additional $88 dollars. When I called and asked why this charge showed up with no receipt, email, or explanation, they said it was an "amenities fee". Apparently we are billed after the fact for things we never even used. The wine time in the lobby, the tea and water in the room (which we were told was complimentary at check-in), the fitness area. You will pay an additional charge for these regardless of what you paid up front. So if you end up staying here, I recommend going HAM on these items because you will pay for them regardless. If these charges were up front and honest, it would have been fine, but this sneaky additional charge after the fact just doesn't sit right.

Yelp
Our friends were staying at the hotel so me and my friend decided to grab a drink with them at the bar downstairs. We ordered an espresso martini, some hot water and a spicy margarita. The bartender was very sweet and friendly. They don't have any food options on the menu but are ok with us ordering from outside and eating at the tables with our coffees or cocktails. The espresso martini was to die for. It was easily the second best espresso martini I have ever had. It had the right balance of caramel and espresso. My friend also loved her spicy margarita drink. It was refreshing and not too spicy, just how she liked it. We will surely swing by when we are craving the espresso martini. The seating is limited in this area but it usually isn't busy so it's easy to find a table. I don't think they take reservations. The ambience is eclectic and appealing, so that's a plus.

Yelp
First, Claridge House is in a perfect location! A couple of blocks from the lake, great shopping on Michigan Ave and in Gold Coast. Second, the front desk staff Cinthya and Cookie were awesome! I arrived really early and had planned to leave my bags in a secure room, but to my surprise, there was a room available! Both ladies were really nice, check in was a breeze and I even received a text message within 30 minutes to ask if I needed anything. Third, I agree with most reviewers in that the rooms definitely need an upgrade. The rooms are small and that's mainly because this is an older boutique hotel with some character. I chose it for that reason, but just because the hotel is older does not mean that certain things should go unnoticed.....like the dirty and stained carpet in the rooms, walls with chipped paint, the lack of an ironing board and the lumpy pillows. If you plan to spend very little time in the hotel and you don't want to spend a fortune, then I would say go for it. However, if you want a boutique hotel with a little more class, I would suggest checking around as there are a few options in the area.

Yelp
The Claridge House is an excellent choice when you want a small, quiet hotel in a great, safe neighborhood. Only blocks from the beaches on Lake Michigan rather in the spotlight and noise of downtown. Very professional, polite front desk staff. It's an old building but has been modernized to offer clean, current in decor rooms. Small bar serves as a breakfast area in the mornings. (Free) Lincoln Park Zoo also only blocks away. Prices were fair for a recent long weekend stay. This Gold Coast neighborhood is a short ride to many places for entertainment, sports, shopping and great food of all types. Weather permitting, tables and chairs on the front sidewalk are camouflaged with plants to give a small oasis feel on this quiet(er) Chicago street. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is for travelers who love vintage hotels with character and history. The hotel was clean and in a really good location. I don't like the carpet hallways, but that's from a germaphobe standpoint. Check-in was easy. Lorrie was very personable and helpful when checking us in. She informed me of all the amenities included and where they were located. I really appreciate that they have happy hour for guests with a complimentary drink starting at 5pm. There is a parking garage right next to the hotel but it's rather pricey. However, there are some loading and unloading spaces in front of the hotel.

Yelp
The location is absolutely lovely. Close to everything without being in the thick of it all. The staff was absolutely wonderful from the parking team to housekeeping. Wonderful. The hallways and room leave a little to be desired. The carpet in the room was stained and it was smaller than expected. The shower door opened toward the shower head so you had to get wet to turn on the shower. Would stay again in the summer when I have less packed.

Yelp
First of all, the location is in a great neighborhood, near an L stop and with great restaurants, too. We found the customer service responsive and generous. I don't know if it's a change in management, but we left here saying that we would choose this hotel on our next trip.

Yelp
Mostly all Pros! - well appointed rooms (as they advertise in their url--I forgot to take photos). - daily complimentary happy hour from 5-6pm: red & white wine and a small snack - 100% cotton towels - comfy bed, large tv, windows that open - water pressure is average/standard for hotels Weird thing, they lack hooks to hang both hand and bath towels. They also provide a steamer vs and iron/board which is better. Lighting in bathroom is also decent.

Yelp
Ms. Cookie is amazing. Service, friendliness, smart, engaging, and goes way our of her way to make sure service is perfect! They make it very personal for you. Warm. Inviting.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed. It's supposed to be a 4-star place, but it felt more like a 2-star joint. I splurged on an upgraded deluxe room, but it was nothing special--makes me wonder what their regular rooms are like! The hotel and rooms looked way better in the pictures online; in reality, it's an old building with a funky smell. Plus, one of the elevators was broken during my stay--talk about bad luck. On the bright side, the hotel is in a great neighborhood. There's a parking lot nearby where you can get a discount if you book through Spothero, and street parking is free from 10 PM to 8 AM. The lady at night reception was super nice, but the daytime staff could use an attitude adjustment. If you're planning to stay here, just keep these things in mind.

Yelp
I don't know if this is because we grew up poor or what but we hated it. It cost so much for subpar accommodations. I get it, it's downtown Chicago so you're paying a premium (thus two stars instead of one) but I felt like I was catfished by the website photos. Here is what we paid: 480 - 2 nights stay 120 - 2 nights parking but my car was a hostage right after we put it in 50 - urban fee - you find out about it in an email after you book but before you stay (this was waved for us because we were part of a wedding but I thought you'd want to know) Here is what we got: - we reserved the queen room - it was big enough just for a queen bed and dancing around whomever you stay with to get by - a shower that takes forever to get warm - a toilet that is so low to the ground you have to break parallel (thinking squatting terms for lifters) to sit down - crooked toilet paper dispenser that is so far in front of you that you have to get off the toilet to get it - a broken fridge - a barely working ac unit - a smell...never figured out where it was coming from - no chest of drawers - super nice bathroom lighting (I can't complain about everything ) - a really good location My advice? Unless you have to go stay at an air bnb

Yelp
cutest & trendiest little hotel in the most central, walkable location. cannot recommend more if you're hoping to spend some time exploring the city & want to avoid excess Uber costs. everything was so close by and we walked off all of our calories! there's a little bar that serves coffee/scones etc. in the morning and then some really nifty cocktails at night. also a gorgeous looking sushi/sashimi spot you can make reservations for. I'll be honest: the room is SMALL! and a little old, but the bed is really comfy and it was all-in-all cozy at the end of the day to come home to. the staff is so attentive, texts with updates and is so quick to accommodate! we had a birthday and they left a complimentary bottle of wine and note for us upon entry. I really got used to this spot & would love to come back!

Yelp
I'm the biggest whiner ever, so I understand some of the recent reviews, but IMO... -in this day, I have found that all hotels are not the same as they were 5yrs ago. -and the days of employees running to your beck and call doesn't always happen. So what does that mean for us as travelers? We must do our homework, research it. Most people shop for groceries economically, so do the same with your trips/hotels and check the boxes. That said, a few of the low ratings recently, I find to be unreasonable complaints about this hotel, such as Chicago's high prices, someone losing their own boots, an older Chicago Hotel that's not shiny new, and lack of parking! what? So, I ask many questions while choosing a place to lay our weary heads when we travel. I've learned things like, 'the handicapped rooms are on top of each other and none have a view except for a building, in fact, most rooms don't have a great view. This is not a skyscraper and the rooms are on the smaller side, but I knew that from staying at the previous Indigo. NOW, as the biggest whiner ever, I will say, If you have dirt issues, noise issues after hrs, security concerns, anything broken, or extremely rude employees, call the manager right away! WHY HAVE WE COME HERE MANY TIMES? PARKING PKG: -might be a deal breaker without. Parking your car in Chicago is a nightmare plain and simple. This checks the easy & reasonable-for-Chicago box and the best pkg we've found. Valet parking, with in and out privileges, luv it! EXPERIENCES: Example: -last August we were blown away by the General Manager, Colin Challender. He approached us in the busy lobby and ask how our stay was going. What? -hands on management, good stuff! I said it was going well, but I did mention (with no expectation) that there's a whole area in our room that is dark. He listened, and shortly after there was a knock on the door and Colin was standing there with a floor lamp! He handed me his card and said, "let me know if you need anything and let me know next time you're coming in case you need anything". Wow LOCATION AND THE IMMEDIATE AREA: -safe and families in this beautiful tree-lined residential neighborhood and a few blocks to the lake -surrounded by soooo many restaurants close by. 3rd Coast is a great little place for a bite of breakfast, Orzo's is my fav cozy Italian a couple blocks away (eat in), check out Old Pour House as a great 'open' pub w/tv's, Small Cheval for the best burgers and ff, and well ok, if I can, Hugo's Frog is a HOP away for an elegant dinner! ... on&on -and on the practical side there's a cvs, walgreens, and an Aldi's grocery in walking distance. Downtown, shopping, the Zoo, and wonderful Museums, are a shot away...

Yelp
Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Lovely neighborhood to explore and walk around. Beautiful architecture as we walk around Old Town.

Yelp
Horrid. do not ever go here. I paid 560 for two nights and two rooms as a speciality and it was horrid. They first charged us 160 per room then informed us that they kept 60 of the charge for each room and returned the 100 after we leave, which is weird. Then I had to pay 150 for two days of parking, if you add the math it's 800, and you could find a hotel for way better for 200 per night. The rooms we got were the worst rooms (corner rooms, and there was a constant noise through out each room and when we complained, we were told they were fully booked (they were not) The light stand and phone did not turn on in one of the rooms. The bedsheets had rips in them. The shower had zero pressure. Lastly, THE EMPLOYEES are also horrid, they laugh when you ask about the outrageous fees. The lobby is pretty but the rooms seem unsafe. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the location of this hotel. The neighborhood felt very safe, it was clean and if want to see beautiful brownstone homes/buildings architecture walk up State Street (between Division and North Blvd). It was very centrally located and the closest train (red line) was about a 4 minute walk. The Claridge House is a boutique hotel, the lobby/bar area is pretty nice but the rooms are very small. No housekeeping (at least while we were there). If you're looking for a decent place to crash, it serves its purpose if you're looking for a chic upscale place, this doesn't deliver on that.

Yelp
Why am I even giving this place a star is beyond me. Place us awful. I have stayed here before only because my son lives a block away. Every time something happens. First, there are all kinds of fees. A resort fee? What the hell is a resort fee? This is not a resort!!!! Then when we tried to check in there was a bus parked in front that would not move and we ended up having to unload half a block away. The last straw was this morning. At about 3 am our toilet got stopped up. They have these cheap tiny toilets that are not very good. I waited until 6 am to call the desk and they told me nobody could come up until 7:30. We had no toilet. . I complained and somebody showed half hour later and handed me a plunger. Toilet still does not work very well. Next time we will have to walk a little further pay a little less and stay somewhere else. Claridge House is awful and a ripoff.

Yelp
The location is great. The lobby is clean and renovated. There was some unpleasant smell in the room, like old carpet smell. No room service.

Yelp
Claridge House hotel has a prime location in the city of Chicago, beautiful building but it lacks of real care, Some of the personnel workers have this superficial of nice attitude at arrival check in only, We will never be back at this particular place.!! First day, room appear nice & clean, next day no body came to do the cleaning,, contacted front desk, a male worker came with towels however, worker suggested to replace the linen, when it was time to go to bed, discover changed sheets has a nasty spot of human waste, it was fesses on the sheets..!! We contacted the front desk, but the front desk failed to answer my call. Finally I went down to talk to front desk personnel, It was offer to us to exchange the room, the room had no view at all.!! This hotel sucks.!! Most of people working at this hotel need to learn customer service & quality control.!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
While the location of this hotel is wonderful, I believe the staff must have received a memo to be as rude and discourteous as possible. Not one staff member over a three day stay smiled, offered to help or even bothered saying good morning. When I requested my room be cleaned, they told me I was informed at check in that I must provide 24 hour notice. They never mentioned it and I checked with other members of my party and no one was told. They basically refused to clean the room. The amenities are minimal and while the bed was comfortable, that was the only good feature of the room. Even the towels were bad. I don't know how this place stays in business. I would never recommend it.

Caroline W.

Yelp
If you're looking for a night stay, go to any Marriott. Their rooms are much bigger and cheaper! My husband and I came to spend a night, and we do not recommend it. He tried turning on the heater, and it smelled like smoke. We told staff and they didn't want to do much about it. Staff is rude and hard to deal with. They have other fees on top of what is paid. Small room with little space to move around. Bathrooms are even smaller.

Carol L.

Yelp
We went to spend the holiday weekend at the Claridge house hotel for my nephews wedding. I was thoroughly impressed by the kindness of the front desk staff, especially Alondra who went out of her way to accommodate myself and my family! We came on an early flight and were able to check in early, had problem with family members blocked room reservation, and offered late checkout! She always greeted us with a smile! You made our stay in Chicago even better
google avatar

Carrie S.

Yelp
Horrible Customer service. Do not stay here! Management refused to resolve my issue and gave "hotel policy" as the reason. Ridiculous! They do not care about loyalty members or repeat business. There are hundreds of hotels in Chicago. So do yourself a favor and book somewhere else that offers their guests actual hospitality.

Frank J.

Yelp
Good hotel, great value. No iron or ironing board is a negative. Location is close to restaurants like La Storia for dinner, and breakfast place 3rd Coast Cafe.

Yelp
I live near this cute, boutique hotel and it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Tucked away on a tree lined street in the heart of the city, it feels much different than an out of the way spot. It is located in a lovely, walking neighborhood just blocks from the gorgeous entry to Lincoln Park and the lakefront. The vintage exterior is cozy and welcoming. Big street front windows allow a peek into it's adorable lobby and bar. Also on the same block, are 4 restaurants. So this location has a lot to offer. It's so easy to get to Chicago's tourist attractions from the hotel. There are fun bars and trendy restaurants close by. Rush Street and Magnificent Mile are just a short walk away. I have been to their bar for appetizers and cocktails and my friends have stayed at the hotel. The rooms are cozy but well appointed. I'm so happy they have opened back up. It's great to see people come and go. They are pet friendly so you can bring your fur babies to stay at the hotel or to enjoy their sidewalk patio.

Yelp
This hotel is such a gem. Sophisticated, stylish and cozy. During a trip to Chicago I booked a Queen bed and I was very happy. The Red Line and 22 are nearby and the architecture in this neighborhood is stunning! Plenty of places to eat and shop nearby, which are listed on papers in the lobby. The lobby is lovely with cozy seating, lots of intimate areas to eat, drink and meet friends. Sushi by Bou is located on the ground floor by reception for dine in, pick up or delivery to your room. I enjoyed the sweet potato sushi and chips as a pre and post bar treat. Lots of art and Instagram worthy backdrops for photos in the rooms, lobby and even the elevator. Complimentary bottle water from reception, cookies, peanuts and candy since it was near Halloween for me. The room has a nice view, a steamer, coffee maker, keycard entry and express check out. Full size mirror and lighted bathroom mirror made getting ready and selfies fun. FYI $100 charged upon check in. Lovely neighborhood and experience, I would stay again.

Yelp
This place was absolutely beautiful and in the best neighborhood in Chicago. It's pricey but it's worth your sanity to feel safe when you're out of town and to get the great customer service I received while being there. My room was on the 12th foot and I had one of the best views (I realized until check out I didn't even a take a picture :( ) whenever I felt hungry I just ordered room service or go downstairs to the sushi restaurant that they have. The only thing I didn't like when getting picked up or dropped off was the confusing address of the hotel on Uber. It says you to the building next to it instead of the actual place. Overall I loved the area, will be staying in Gold Coast again because of this experience

Yelp
It was a cute little hotel. It did not have the best view. But the staff was excellent and they had a really nice bar.

Yelp
Nice place to stay while in Chicago. Good location and quiet street. I had a nice room and liked it. However, I got charged both an amenity fee and an urban fee at check out. While I was aware of the amenity fee - as most hotels charge an amenity fee- I was disappointed to learn about the urban fee. I asked what the difference is between these two types of fees, and I was told by the clerk that it is the same. So, about $30/night for the amenity fee, $30 the urban fee in addition to your rate. It is a rip off!!! Please be aware of this hotel's hidden fees, AKA "junk fees". Honestly I liked the place and my room, and was planning to return in the spring, but after being charged both amenity and urban fees, I will never check in at Claridge house again! Thanks for reading!

Yelp
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful facility in a great neighborhood. The staff were courteous and helpful. We parked in garage next to the hotel and walked to several nearby restaurants to eat meals. We even walked to the beach and Lincoln Park. Great place!

Yelp
It's an older cool hotel tucked into a residential neighborhood close to Rush street. Even though it was older, the accommodations were top notch. Great bed and bathroom.

Yelp
If you feel like staying at an IRRESPONSIBLE, disgusting hotel who doesn't care if your luggage gets stolen, I would recommend the Claridge House! My sister, mom and I came here for a girl's weekend. We got in around noon and they wouldn't let us into our room early, so we asked if we could could tag our luggage and lock it up in the back room. I watched them put the tag on it, and it didn't seem like a problem. We came back around 5pm, five hours later, to find my luggage SITTING ON A LUGGAGE CART IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LOBBY. It was not locked up, and it truly is a miracle from GOD HIMSELF that it was not stolen. This is Chicago. You can't leave ANYTHING out without people stealing it. I was furious. I kindly asked the front desk woman what the h*ll happened. I would have had a LOT more respect for her if she would have just apologized and said they forgot to lock the luggage up. But she lied straight to my face and said she had "had eyes on it all day" and that is "their policy." I'm sorry but what hotel in AMERICA just leaves your belongings in the middle of the lobby and "watches it?" I'm sorry but no. This isn't it. Hotels have designated, locked rooms for luggage. Such a joke, and so disrespectful to my intelligence that she thought I believed this. We got to our room and it smelled OVERWHELMINGLY of cigarette smoke. All weekend long it transitioned between weed and cigarette smoke. It sounds like others have complained about this too. Super gross. Tried ordering an appetizer from room service and it took over an hour to arrive and was cold. It's an outside provider (not in house) so definitely avoid this at all costs. Overall it seemed like there was a lot of partying going on. The photos of this hotel are very deceptive, because it does look very nice, but you get there and it doesn't measure up. It's not high quality or luxury by any means. The low price definitely attracts a certain clientele. I couldn't wait to leave. Overall, avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel in good location. My only feedback was the spa. They outsource their services to a place called Bethology. They don't answer their phone and don't get back to you on text. I wanted to give them my money but couldn't book them. I called the hotel front desk and customer service and was told to wait for them to text back since they have no control over it. Since they never did after contacting both numbers, I booked with Heavenly with one phone call. Heavenly took my reservation and payment over the phone on the first try.

Yelp
Great lobby, vibe, small bar, has boutique hotel feel. My room was a single, and it was very small, I was unimpressed for the cost. I booked thru airbnb, they added an addl cost per nite charged to my cc, which I did not expect. carpet throughout hotel seems old...worn out...slow elevator, again, not impressed with the room for the money - old feel, not in a good way. Staff was nice and helpful, all around.

Yelp
Upgraded me to a new room after bringing all my luggage up. Left a pair of boots accidentally and didn't realize for a couple hours. Sadly when I went back to get them I couldn't get in the room and housekeeping stated they "didn't see anything". Not worth the upgrade unfortunately. Won't be staying there again. Definitely shady.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Had to call multiple times for towels, toilet paper, and hygiene products. When they did not bring these products we had to go down to the front desk to receive them. We stayed for four days, three nights and our room was never cleaned. There is one lamp in the whole hotel room, outlets didn't work, and the bathrooms are tiny. The people working at the front desk are extremely rude and unhelpful. Did not want to help their customers in anyway. The only good part about this hotel is the location.

Yelp
Had such a great experience here and can't rave about it enough! The rooms are clean, comfortable and trendy. They are dog friendly and let me work at the lounge while my dog snoozed by my side. Great drinks at the bar with a complimentary happy hour drink. Lovely neighborhood with Lincoln Park, North Ave. beach, and lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Three Arts Club cafe at Restoration Hardware is a must. Had a very unfortunate experience at Hotel Lincoln before this and Claridge House was night and day at the same price point. Can't recommend it enough!

Yelp
Be expecting a brick wall view and dingy room. $100 deposit that won't be returned over a week(still waiting). $30 resort fee? For idk what. Dog barking loud in hall all night. Just overall felt scammy and not worth it.

Yelp
Nice boutique hotel, close to everything from the lake, pharmacies, restaurants, shopping you can walk everywhere from here. The rooms are compact but comfortable, all we need is a place to come to sleep and shower, we are not that picky, we always have an amazing time in the city.

Yelp
I really loved this adorable hotel just a short walk from a downtown bus route and the red line. Dunkin is around the corner and Lou Malnatis a short walk. I got an excellent deal on Travelzoo that waved the resort fee, and they gave me a nice quiet room on the 14th floor. I dropped a star as I scheduled a room cleaning with a 24 hr notice but didn't get it. 3rd coast next door has a good breakfast

Yelp
This is a quaint hotel located in the Gold Coast area. Lovely neighborhood, away from the hustle & bustle of business areas. The rooms are small but adequate. Disappointed there was no microwave, but the real disappointment was customer service. Even though the front desk staff were friendly, there was no follow through. The bathroom floor had obviously not been cleaned as prior guests' hair was all over the floor. We requested that the floors be cleaned. They never were. The second night, we came back to ants in the room. We requested that be addressed. After more than a hour, we went to Walgreen's, purchased bug spray, and took care of that ourselves. Later, staff came to the door and attempted to hand us a can of spray, not offer to come in to take care of it themselves. We had to request fresh towels when needed. We were there for three days; staff never entered the room. On the final day, the elevator broke down. Fortunately, we were not stranded inside as were other guests. To their credit, they did adjust our bill when checking out, but rather than that, they need to improve their customer service standards.

Yelp
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Experience! Evening and afternoon Front desk girls are RUDE and Miserable with their job and it shows! Too busy on their cell phones to assist guests. No help whatsoever with luggage or assistance to find help. DO NOT BOOK HERE! Not worth the money spent! BE WARE!

Yelp
After reading reviews both here and Google, I was nervous this place was one of those hotels where they doctored up all the pictures but when you walked in you felt it hadn't been cleaned or renovated in a very long time. That is SO NOT THE CASE!!! This is a completely charming boutique hotel in such a great neighborhood! The room I stayed in was completely adorable, clean, comfortable and a very good size. I love the lobby too, very spacious and hip. The staff was really fantastic - friendly and attentive. I wanted to stay another few nights and the woman at the front desk spent what felt like 10 minutes making sure I had the best rate possible. I think some people want to stay in a really big hotel and so they don't understand boutique hotel vibe or the reviews are really old because it seems like they've renovated the hotel since most of them were posted.

Yelp
Hotel was dated and not as clean as I would have liked. The Hispanic music was loud when walking in. Front desk looked liked a hang out spot and the bartender was on her phone. I paid $213 for a King room and parking so overall for the price and location it was tolerable. Biggest complaint would be the overall cleanliness, needs improvement.

Yelp
THANKFULLY we were only in the city for one day and therefore only had to stay at Claridge house for one night. Let me start by saying, it's a beautiful hotel and the rooms themselves are decent. The issue is purely the front desk staff and the suggested parking lot that makes this hotel a TERRIBLE stay. If you're planning on staying here, do not use the parking next to the building that the front desk suggests, instead go around the corner and pay half the price for far better customer service. We waited 20 mins on the valet to not even acknowledge us, to be told we were holding up his line and to get out of line as we were in the process of paying $60 for parking for ONE night. I asked the hotel staff at the front desk, two ladies, if they had any information as to who the valet is and how I could get ahold of his supervisor and neither of them were any help. When we got into our hotel room everything looked nice and clean, however the floors were not swept, the complimentary water bottles were open and drank out of, there was old hair in the shower and they didn't provide new conditioner after the previous guest had clearly used half the conditioner bottle in the shower. When I called the front desk to ask if we could have new water bottles, the lady at the front desk told me I would have to come down and get them and they wouldn't be brought up to the room. I'm not sure if they have room service or not, I understand this is a boutique hotel but the customer service is TRASH. The blinds in our room were also broken and need replaced, and the air does not get as cold as the thermostat says. After paying $230 for one night, one would expect better customer service and more hospitality when it comes to simple hotel etiquette. Instead we were greeted with disrespect and disregard starting with the hotels suggested parking garage and ending with the hotel staff being completely inhospitable. Coincidently, we ended up meeting another group that checked out of the Claridge house before we checked in, and they spoke about having the the same experience as we did with the valet. Mo is extremely rude. With all of that being said, I hope you choose a different hotel and save yourself the trouble!

Yelp
This is not a 4 star hotel. The paint is peeling off the ceiling in the bathroom and the window leaked air like crazy. We had to keep the heat on at all times. When we checked in late, there were no sheets on the bed. They are also not doing housekeeping due to covid, but not one staff member was wearing a mask. One of the worst hotels I have stayed in. They do not have luxury bath products and when I asked for more conditioner, they ran out. We checked out early due to winter storm Elliot and they were not helpful and could have cared less about getting is a refund. I never write reviews, but this was such an upsetting stay.

Yelp
To start off, I would give this hotel a negative -2 rating if possible. I do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked this hotel for a night out. I ended up with BED BUG bites in the morning. The bed bugs even followed me home. This hotel bedroom also stinked. I am also in disbelief that I woke up with bed bug bites. The customer service desk did not try to correct the fact that they have bed bugs in thier rooms. Please do N O T book.

Yelp
Overall a good 5 night stay. Great location right off the bat. The hotel gets extra points for having good gym equipment and enough space for mat and weight bench workouts. Our queen hotel room was small but that's to be expected. Certain things show age and wear and tear but the bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. We stayed on the 11th floor. Housekeeping stops by every day and is responsive to requests. You can get good brewed coffee in the lobby at the bar with one free refill. Also, take advantage of the free happy hour with wine selections from 5-6. This hotel has some nice touches and the freebies are a rare find. I will be back.

Yelp
The service was terrible. The rooms were fine but the front desk ladies were rude and unhelpful.

Yelp
TL;DR: Room was pretty & cute, but I paid for a deluxe king room and they gave me an adjoined room (because all their deluxe king rooms are adjoined, which was never mentioned to me) and I heard waaaaaay more than I ever wanted to hear from my next door neighbors, if you catch my drift... I wanted to really love this place. The second I walked in, I was taken aback with how beautifully decorated the lobby was. Everything in the lobby looks brand new and it has a really cool vibe to it. I stood here for 4 nights and paid for the "deluxe king" room which was obviously more expensive than the regular king room. I had a really early flight & a long journey from the airport to the hotel so when I got to my room, I immediately knocked out. I noticed it was an adjoined room and thought it was weird but I was too tired to do anything about it. I was woken up by the people next door yelling and playing music. I never complain about anyone in hotels because I think that's a lame thing to do, but it honestly felt like they were IN MY ROOM. I couldn't go to sleep because I could so clearly hear their music and their plans for the evening (it was about 6PM). I called the front desk and I asked if I could switch rooms because I paid for a deluxe king and my room was an adjoined room and I wanted to switch to another. She said that ALL their deluxe king rooms are adjoined rooms, and that I could downgrade to a regular king room but keep the same price I paid. Um???? First, why would you make all of your higher priced rooms adjoined rooms? Second, why would I choose to pay more for a deluxe room but get a lesser version of what I paid for? I told her that I'd stay in the room since I was already completely unpacked and if they were all adjoined, it wouldn't make a difference anyway. The people next door eventually left for the evening. My boyfriend and I left too and we returned to our hotel at around 1 AM. They returned at the same time because I could immediately hear them. I'm not being dramatic when I say it sounded like they were in my room.... They were drunk. Girlfriend was hungry so she asked Boyfriend to order pizza. Boyfriend orders pizza and praises the man on the phone for delivering at this hour. Girlfriend asks for pizza without sauce on it. Boyfriend thinks thats weird but orders it anyway. Boyfriend hangs up and asks Girlfriend what's wrong. She starts yelling at him that it was mean to say her pizza order was weird. He says "come on, baby, I ordered it anyway!" Then the two of them knock out. An hour later, Pizza Guy is there ready to deliver. He's calling their room over & over again on the phone and, obviously, it sounds like my phone is ringing over and over. After about 20 minutes, Boyfriend wakes up, says "Oh shit!" opens the door and Pizza Man says "I was waiting for 20 minutes! This is unacceptable!" Pizza man leaves. Boyfriend and Girlfriend are silent so I assume they pass out. But by the next morning, my assumption is proven correct because Girlfriend says "I can't believe we didn't eat our pizzas last night." They eat their pizza. And, I can't tell you what they do next because I'm sure it violates some type of Yelp policy but trust me when I say it was WAY MORE than I ever wanted to hear. And I heard it not once, but twice. Vividly. Horrifying. When they were finished, I heard Boyfriend say "We gotta hurry up! Check out is in 45 minutes." I was extremely relieved by that. The next 3 nights, I didn't hear anyone in that room. I'm not sure if it was vacant or not, but I got lucky and heard nothing. My first night and second day was pretty dreadful. Aside from all that drama, the room itself is cute. The bed is comfortable. The water pressure in the shower is incredible. I love love love the glass door in the shower as opposed to the gross shower curtain. I could use some more sink space in the bathroom, but whatever.
