The 15 Best Restaurants In Newport, Rhode Island 2024

"Clarke Cooke House is the type of place where you’ll find couples taking a break from their yacht, CEOs power lunching in the downstairs dining room, and a summertime-only sushi bar overlooking said yachts moored nearby. There’s a lot happening, but prioritize a table upstairs where you’ll get a more expansive view of the harbor and a pricey-but-excellent meal. While this is the place for classic Newport-style food like local oysters, lobster, and native cod, the steak au poivre or sauteed filet of sole with caramelized onions and fancy French brown butter won’t disappoint either. Whatever you do, don’t miss their signature dessert: the snowball from hell. Big enough for two, it’s ice cream served in a chocolate-coated goblet and drizzled in chocolate syrup." - danielle rose

"This Bannister Wharf eatery is the quintessential Newport dining experience. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, the summer sushi is a must order (even when it's not on the menu). Tom Gidley, fresh off a stint in The French Laundry kitchen, has been the Clarke Cooke House Executive Chef for twenty years and knows what the locals love to eat. After dinner, wander upstairs to the candlelit sky bar, after eleven the tables are pushed to the side and the dancing starts."

How to See Newport, Rhode Island, According to Two Volvo Ocean Race Sailors

"Both sailors said Clarke Cooke House, and Dana specifically likes 'the sushi bar downstairs.' Any meal, Enright says, should 'end with the ‘Snowball in Hell,’ a chocolate and ice cream masterpiece.'"

Some of the best food we've ever tasted - the truffle appetizer was a once-in-a-lifetime delight. The lemon, honey and vanilla sauce with the asparagus appetizer was so good that we used our bread to get all of it. The duck breast and the swordfish entrees were beyond our expectation with innovative and delicious accompaniments. Dining on the third level is a once a year treat for us.

Google
Great spot. We had the crab cake to start, loaded with crab and no filler. I had the pepper crusted tuna, cooked just right, and my son had penne almond chicken he didn’t leave a bite. Finished with the famous Snowball for dessert. It is that good. Cool atmosphere, great service, not too stuffy. Would definitely come back.

I had an amazing dining experience at Clarke Cooke House! The Peppered Tuna Steak was absolutely phenomenal—perfectly pan-seared with a delicious sweet and buttery sherry vinegar glaze, paired beautifully with collard greens. The service was exceptional; the staff was attentive, warm, and made the evening truly special. The atmosphere is fantastic—elegant yet inviting, with that classic Newport charm that elevates the whole experience. I can’t recommend this place enough for a memorable meal!

Google
Very nice restaurant! Very cute older gentleman hosting the front, cute outdoor tables, large inside and second floor bar. Clam chowder was more soupy and potato based but good. Our main dish was very nicely done as well with a nice crunch option with the chip accents. Will be back for sure!

Google
Our dinner was very delicious and hot when it was served. We ordered the Kani Su appetizer, chicken penne, and the special for the night; sea bass. The portions were perfect. When in full swing, the space is very crowded, not much room to move. We had a reservation at 9 but didn’t get a table until 9:30…

Google
A group of four of us went to this restaurant while visiting Newport. The food was delicious, quantity and quality is great for the price, the staff was polite and attentive, and there was a great view of the water from one side of the restaurant. However, we tried to split our bill three ways and were told that they could split the bill evenly, but that they couldn't create itemized checks. That makes absolutely no sense. Never have I gone to a restaurant and asked to split a bill and they come back saying that they can't split a bill according to who ordered which items or who wants to pay for which items. It created a lot of unnecessary stress over how we were going to handle the bill and put a damper on an otherwise lovely dinner. If you're planning on going with a party and want to split the bill, be prepared to split everything evenly.

the Seafood Linguine was Delicious. the Dessert was Delicious too. service was Great. atmosphere was good. nice view too.

Google
The atmosphere is very nice. It is a very traditional building with nice views. The wine selection was pretty good. Their signature dessert was incredible. It is an extremely popular place. However I don’t see why everyone loves the food so much here. Our whole group found the entrees very average. Definitely not what you expect for the price they charge.

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance are at the highest level here. The Cooke House is Newport. It's right down on the wharf in the center of Newport. It's a historic building with great old charm and sophistication. Having been here many times in the last 30 years I can say the food is exquisite. Chef Ted's passion for food is clear. His mastery of flavors and techniques are impressive. I have had many wonderful meals here. The staff are true professionals. The Cooke house runs flawlessly under GM Stefan and Manger Reggie. He is true class. Bartender "Ferbie" is highly skilled. His drinks and humor are the star of the show. This is a Newport staple. It's all ways an amazing time at the Cooke House.

Yelp
I was born and raised in Long Island, New York and my wife hails from Newport Rhode Island. I feel fortunate that we have had so many local dining options that we have enjoyed over the years. Clark Cooke House is another example of that. We were in town for my birthday and I wanted to make sure I had at least one meal at this establishment. We started out with a few cocktails. I had an Old Fashioned and my wife had a lemon drop martini. She said the martini was excellent. My old-fashioned was OK. One of the problems with the drink is that they use chopped ice in it. This causes the drink to water down easily. Additionally I believe they over muddled the cherry, and the drink basically was lacking sweetness. We both had a cup of clam chowder. Not my favorite style of New England clam chowder. Tasty but thin. I prefer a thicker creamier texture. For dinner, my wife had the whole steamed lobster. This seems like a lot of work to me. However, my wife a self proclaimed "sturdy New England girl" handled the lobstahhh quite easily. I went with the sirloin steak and mashed potatoes. Steak was delicious. A nice size portion cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were OK. A little bit bland but still tasty. We closed out the meal with the Snowball from hell . This was a really tasty brownie sundae. Unfortunately I did not know we were getting it and I was unable to snap a picture of it. I would definitely recommend it however. I would definitely recommend the Clarke Cook House. The atmosphere brings you back to the early colonial days. The decor is beautiful. The atmosphere is elegant and relaxing. The service is excellent. A must if you are in Newport.

Yelp
Very historic place, used to be a candy store. Came for drinks only and sat on the very top floor. It does get busy. I can't speak for the food.

Yelp
This place will always have a special place in my heart! My husband and I had our first date here ten years ago, and we make it a point to go at least once per year. We most recently enjoyed their well known Snowball for dessert, and it was absolutely scrumptious! For dinner, I got the BEST tuna sushi; it melted in my mouth if sushi can even do that. My husband treated himself to a delicious steak that was cooked perfectly. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our food and drinks. Although you have to dress up to go here, it is worth it. It makes date nights extra special. Even though the building itself is old and lacks air conditioning, there is a certain charm in the furniture and decor that is reminiscent of simpler times. It's like taking a step back in time. I absolutely adore this place!!!

Alexa D.

Yelp
The girl at the reception desk with the short hair was rude when I asked how long it would be to get to our table. Maybe have some better etiquette for a place this nice. It's always okay to ask how long it will be (nicely) for a table. I was here for a party and we were trying to see if we should get a drink in the mean time.

Sally R.

Yelp
The food is fantastic for fresh new england seafood, service impeccable, location extraordinary. The best seafood raw bar and sushi on the island. Thai style lobster is uniquely special - savory and light but not too strong of spice. Service and atmosphere perfect. I had given a card to hold the reservation which accidentally charged the next day as no show. I spoke to the manager and they resolved it same day.

Laura S.

Yelp
I'm surprised by the rave reviews, honestly. This restaurant was a major disappointment. It tries to come off as upscale and exclusive, but there's nothing to support that vibe. The place itself looks like a 1980s crab shack, complete with no air conditioning, yet they have a dress code requiring men to wear jackets. The day before our reservation, I saw patrons inside who looked like they just came from Walmart, so I asked the hostess if the jacket rule was really enforced. She assured me it was, especially in the formal dining area. So, my husband showed up the next night in a button-down shirt, suit jacket, and khakis. He was the only one out of 14 men in the so-called "formal" area wearing a jacket. Others were in collar shirts but looked sloppy, some even wearing shorts. As for the food, it was just fine but a bit bland. My dirty martini was perfect! My husband ordered a sirloin, but what he got definitely wasn't a sirloin. This review might sound pretentious, but it's because I expected a classier experience because of the dress code and the way the staff acted. The no-phone policy felt pretentious, and to top it off, the menu and check both had reminders to "pay your server." Save your time and money and go somewhere that either genuinely offers a classy experience or doesn't pretend to be something it's not.

Yelp
This was a very nice nautical spot that I went to over the summer with a large group. We stopped in for their brunch. The food was yummy, a bit overpriced. The service was fantastic.

Yelp
came out quickly for our table of 8 We did appetizers of calamari, sushi a few salads and oysters tuna, cod, seafood linguine and a few lobster rolls 4 deserts including my favorite snowball in hell
google avatar

Rob W.

Yelp
I'm perfectly happy to don a sports coat or put on some "to the manner born" airs for a classy spot with incredible product, impeccable service, or classy, old-school vibes but this just felt like an old doyenne trying to desperately cling to viability with its random, antiquated rules, all while the walls around it are crumbling down. The setting felt no different than the sports bars/pubs on nearby Thames street, and the drinks were certainly no better--mediocre gin martini and a disappointing rye sour at the bar--there was a convivial vibe, and we talked to a couple of locals at the bar, but, again-, the setting is odd and feels more like a dive bar than a place that would have a dress code. Then, as we were waiting for the check, I got berated for putting my baseball cap on--sir, I am trying to leave your mediocre establishment--just let me on on my way! You've got to earn that level of hubris--and this place does not.

Yelp
Just when you think the food in Newport can't get any better ! This place has amazing food. Super fresh oysters, we had 2 dozen! At $3.50 each. The lobster roll was do fresh n so delicate. If you love seafood this is the pace! Book in advance bc for dinner it's had to get a reservation
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
We came to Newport to celebrate my birthday, and I HAD to come to Clarke Cooke house as I had the most phenomenal lobster roll the last time I came. Hot take, but I prefer a cold roll over a hot one. I knew I wanted to come here when we were planning. We ordered 3 different kinds of oysters, the majority of us got lobster rolls, my mom got a steak, and my sister got fries and a Caesar salad. Our server was super nice and we had an amazing time. Can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Atmosphere was busy and loud and lively and tables are tight. Service was friendly and attentive and the changing theme for the evening was Caribbean. The food was tasty.
google avatar

Kendra W.

Yelp
Yummy food, preppy vibe. Went for St. Patty's Day lunch. They have raw bar, great drinks, large food menu. Had a few appetizers and drinks. Clam chowder was lighter than most..it was a refreshing change. Didn't get to try the famous Snowball in hell dessert. I can see this place getting super busy so try to get reservation ahead if you can. Small bar seating area.

M R.

Yelp
Best lobster rolls I've had in a long time. That and the clam chowder was just the meal I was looking for.

Ann G.

Yelp
Regular diner here for years. Unfortunately the food has become mediocre and the waitstaff and hostesses can be extremely rude. It's sad because I used to love this place. If you're seated on the porch it's really pretty but be prepared to be rushed out.
google avatar

Cat G.

Yelp
Wonderful Newport restaurant- we had no reservations but they managed to squeeze us in on a Wednesday evening and only waited around 10 minutes. It's a very large space and I couldn't believe how full it was but after we had our dinner I understood- everything was perfect, from the bread to dessert just an all around solid meal and I can see why it's rated one of the best restaurants in Newport. Our server was new, not super friendly and not too familiar with the menu but that's ok- I had the native cod, my boyfriend had the seafood linguini and we split the hazelnut:chocolate mousse pie. Recommend 1,000%

Yelp
My lovely boyfriend and I went to Newport Rhode Island for our anniversary. I had found Clarke Cooke House just by looking at Yelp and I thought it looked so beautiful! Plus, it was a short walk from the ferry! The two girls at the front greeted us and were able to sit us immediately (I was surprised because the restaurant looked very busy and there was a jazz festival going on, so we assumed there was going to be some kind of wait) We got seated upstairs next to the bar and I was very happy about it because the upstairs had all these large windows open and there was a very nice breeze, it was really nice. I wish I could remember the waitress' name because she was very sweet, and I could tell she was very busy but still very attentive. She placed our drink orders in, and I ordered an espresso martini with an extra shot of Bailey's (waitress' recommendation) and I LOVED it. My boyfriend ordered a Bloody Mary because he choose the brunch option (it comes with a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa) I knew he loved it because he ordered another one. As an appetizer we ordered a dozen oysters and they were of course amazing. How can you go wrong with oysters? Then for our entrees I got the Lobster Roll (15/10) There was a lot of lobster, the roll was so buttery, and I really love the coleslaw that came with it. My only "complaint" would be that i wished my fries were just a little crispier, but I still enjoyed them. I believe my boyfriend got steak and eggs and he didn't say a word and that a huge sign of "I love it" We have officially decided that we will be returning to Rhode Island and most importantly, Newport and yes, we will 1000% will be returning but for dinner. See you next summer!

Molly M.

Yelp
You definitely come to this spot for the ambiance- I've never felt so New England. The wait staff is knowledgeable and well trained to give a fine dining experience. Everything felt fresh and well thought out. The lobster was great but their appetizers and starters really stole the show.
google avatar

Stephanie P.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed dining at the Clarke Cooke House. It's a very lively atmosphere with lots of personality. Our waitress was very attentive to our needs. I would recommend ordering seafood because those dishes packed a lot of flavor. I loved my lobster roll; it was a perfect size. The sea bass special was very tasty. The popular snowball in hell dessert was a hit packed with lots of chocolate and coconut, you can't go wrong. Definitely worth a visit!

Michael B.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't left a review. Years of enjoying the CCH. Service is always amazing, ambiance superb, food, I mean, the caviar service is one of the best I've enjoyed. They make a mean martini & the Porch on a Saturday in summer is THE place to be.
google avatar

Harry O.

Yelp
Place is my current favorite spot to go out in Newport. The inside is so well decorated, the food is amazing, and the drinks are phenomenal as well. Their is a reason this establishment has been in business all these years!

Kevin R.

Yelp
The food is slightly above average, but the service is atrocious. The manager of the restaurant is like a mean girl who hasn't realized he should've grown up, and he unfortunately ruins the entire experience. They stack you on top of each other and act like you're at fine dining restaurant, which is unfortunately a mistake given they are by the exquisite 22 Bowens. The food is inconsistent, and not family friendly. Since they cannot be the best in the niche of food quality, they said try to cater to bachelorette parties and it just completely ruined the ambience.
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
While visiting Rhode Island with my girlfriend, we looked up this place and chose to try it out. Upon entering, we greatly appreciated the decor. It showed plenty of history with the state of Rhode Island! We were seated and was able to order our food. We started with the Crab Cake which tasted amazing! Came with a green sauce and corn which complimented the crab cake a lot. Without the sauce, the crab cake still tasted amazing! For entrees we ordered the tofu mixed vegetables tikka Marsala and the pepper tuna steak. The tofu dish was ok at best. It lacked an extra ingredient we thought. The peppered tuna steak tasted fantastic. It came with spinach and a wine sauce which enhanced the flavor profile. For dessert, we had frangelico chocolate torte and it blew us away! We asked if they sold it as a whole but they didn't. Our waitress didn't seem friendly but still did her job! We would come back to this place and try other dishes.

Matthew R.

Yelp
IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN - DO NOT GO HERE!!! Treated us terribly for bringing a stroller. When we asked for a high chair - they refused to bring one. They had them in the restaurant but only allow them at Lunch. The Manager was an arrogant man-child who had no problem serving drinks to young bridal parties but told my family and I - we typically discourage children at our restaurant. Never go here!!!!

Joyce H.

Yelp
The food never disappoints and the atmosphere is classic Newport! The service is good and the staff is friendly. You will enjoy the total dining experience.

Yelp
It's the worst kept secret that I love love love the Cooke House. I literally consider this place my home away from home. From sushi dinners to Porch Snowballs apre-gala, the best moments in life are spent in this hallowed and historic eatery. But that's not what this about. This is about the Smoked Salmon Sandwich, which is quite possibly the best sandwich I have EVER had not only in Newport, but in Boston, New York, or anywhere else. We came here a few days ago for a sensible Ladies Who Lunch moment following a Newport Classical concert at the Elms. I'm a night owl at Cooke House since work usually prevents daytime meals, but holy cow, I am so glad we came here for lunch, especially since the Smoked Salmon wondrousness is only on that menu (BUT IT SHOULD BE ON THE OTHER MENUS I WOULD EAT THIS ALL THE TIME). The salmon is fresh (I venture to guess it's smoked in house), the pumpernickel bread a soft and toothsome compliment to the fish, the dill cream cheese is FIRE, and the seasonal heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers pull it all together. It's like a tea sandwich turned up to eleven. Served alongside dressed mixed greens and a Newport Water cocktail, I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon. Seriously. So good. And that's a lot from me!

Yelp
Located in the perfect spot along the waterfront near tons of boutiques & shops, this historic restaurant had a lot of great options. The place is very busy & lively. We started off with the clam chowder which unfortunately was a bit runny/watery. The pastas sauce was similar and sunk below all the pasta. However the sushi, sea bass, and lobster rolls my family ordered were all top notch. The snowball from hell dessert was terrific offering a chocolate covered glass and chocolate cake/vanilla ice cream stuffed inside. One of the best desserts Ive ever come across.

Keaton P.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere is fantastic. The seafood is fresh, the sushi was fantastic. Oysters were awesome. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Found this restaurant by accident after a tour in the pouring rain. Looked at the menu and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We were there at 4:30 and dinner didn't start until 5pm so we sat at the bar. Patrick greeted us and served drinks until he could place our order. He made us feel as though we were friends and not customers. He made recommendations which we appreciated...whole lobster, shrimp, clam chowder and a snowball dessert. Outstanding! Sitting at the bar was actually very cozy. Turned out there were a lot of regulars there for evening drinks and appetizers. When we noticed the name of the restaurant, it turned out to be one that a client highly recommended. Kismet!

Yelp
I have been going to the Cooke house annually for fourty years. It's still the best combination of charming spaces in Newport. But it has been sad to watch the decline of quality in service and food. It has been relying on the location and tourist attraction identity for too long. I hope it can return to its glory of the past.

Tom M.

Yelp
OK, I have never written a negative restaurant review before. Not a complainer and only dine "upscale" about a dozen times a year, at most. However for my birthday wanted to take the kids and grandkids somewhere special so booked lunch at the Cooke House. We were severely disappointed. We made reservations for 7 but were crammed into a small table pressed against the paneling at the foot of the stairs. The luncheon menu was very ordinary. Most of us just ordered burgers or Reubens, I and my son ordered the crabmeat salad special and had about a dixie cup sized portion of crab meat. As I went top the two flights of stairs to use the men's room I saw many delightful looking rooms and alcoves with furniture etc., and the main dining room, if crowded, seemed fine. I'm sure this is a very fine place. But frankly we would have had much more comfort, a better choice of options, and, yes, more ambience at a national chain family restaurant.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
One of the best places in Newport. Great food great atmosphere. Most fun place in. Summer sushi is awesome., amazing oysters. Steak is good great service
google avatar

Caleb V.

Yelp
Mixed feeling about the Clarke Cooke house, food was tasty 7/10, very common fair and nothing to really write home about. The dinning room is crowded, the servers and staff were friendly and personable but overall service was very slow (Drinks took 15 minutes, 2 Sandwiches smoked ham and smoked salmon took about 25-30 minutes). If it wasn't crowded, and you don't one paying a premium for "touristy" style dining it's passable, but there are better options.
google avatar

Elizabeth Y.

Yelp
We came here for work dinner with a group of five people during the weeknight. I am very glad we had reservations because the place was packed! We were seated within a few minutes of arriving and shortly after had our server greeting us. He quickly got us started with waters as well as a round of drinks. For appetizers, we decided to share the tuna and the calamari. Both were tasty but the calamari was a bit overdone so made it chewy. I also decided to try a bowl of the clam chowder. It honestly wasn't my favorite because of how runny it was and I believe they put dill in it, which was a bit overpowering. For my entrée, I decided to try the Lamb special. It had both lamb shank and lamb loin. It was absolutely delicious, particularly loved the lamb shank and the little bit of fat that it had. For dessert, I got the crème brûlée and it was light and had the perfect amount of sweetness. This restaurant has the cutest decor and definitely takes in the Newport energy. I would highly recommend if you're in the area!
google avatar

Erica J.

Yelp
The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner or even for business if you're looking to impress with the location. It was very loud around 6 pm on a Saturday night so go earlier if that's a problem for you, but it's so charming and you can't beat the view. I had the lemon spritz (meh), cream of tomato soup and the steamed lobster both were delicious! We felt rushed and that the server was a little pushy so that's the reason for a 4 vs a 5.
google avatar

Megan A.

Yelp
Lovely location. Seating is uncomfortable. We could barely fit our drinks and dishes on the table. Food was ok. Waiter got my order wrong, but what he brought was fine. Kids meal burnt. Drinks were way overpriced IMO. They don't list the prices so beware - $30 for one! Really wished for more.
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Been here 3 times now and I really do suggest that if in town you need to come by here. LAst time in town I had a great meal and considered it fine dining. This time we went to the downstairs bar and the upstairs bar and enjoyed both very much. The upstairs bar was kind of slower service but not too slow to worry about because it was a treat due to the view and especially the entertaining bartender. He was having to handle the entire room which must be a huge burden but he just plugged along, working hard and smart and got to everyone. Definitely worth the wait for the Martini. Perfect!

Nancy R.

Yelp
I have been here many times but was disappointed in my visit on Jan 29, 2025. Service was mediocre and there were not many items on the menu that I would choose. The shrimp cocktail was overcooked and poor choice of vegetables. They request jackets and ties and no jeans and that is so outdated. Very few men had on a jacket or a tie. Many customers were also in jeans. get rid of that antiquated policy.
google avatar

Temi A.

Yelp
Incredible atmosphere and ambiance (a bit rowdy of a crowd but it's memorial day weekend) the drinks were great(especially the jane fonda espresso martini) the sea bass was good The dragon eel roll was incredible we asked for the most popular dishes on the menu and were told that a the sole lyonnaise was popular and tasty. DO NOT order this meal. It was essentially a steamed fish dowsed in an acidic vinegar tasting bath surrounding with caramelized onions, steamed spinach, and potato chips. I would not recommend. I recommend sticking to sushi items if you go here. The signature dessert "the snowball in hell" was also great!
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
We came to Clarke Cooke on a Saturday for lunch around 12:30pm in the winter. We made a reservation a few days in advance but could have definitely walked in and had no issue sitting down! The aesthetic of the restaurant is beautiful, boat house decor. Tables with white linen table cloths and comfortable seating. We were sat upstairs and our waiter immediately came over. Overall, the service was great, very quick. I would probably rate a 3.5 overall for the lunch food.

Raymond A.

Yelp
Everything . Food n service were excellent. Love the atmosphere . Host was friendly and servers were great!
google avatar

Pash Lee L.

Yelp
I probably definitely would not come here again in the summer. There is no AC and they leave all of the windows open for an indoor outdoor type of eating experience. When we got our food we were eating fast because we wanted to get out of there. There's nothing worse than sweating while you're eating it was so weird and uncomfortable lol. Also the rickety ceiling fans were not it and we're not producing any type of airflow whatsoever. Food was decent but not completely enjoyable due the heat situation.

Parker T.

Yelp
Yum, oysters! The service at the raw bar was wonderful, the oyster shucker was super nice. A little loud in the restaurant, but that's to be expected on a crowded Friday night.

Lau J.

Yelp
Usually the place is great but went there yesterday for lunch and it was weird from the start. Hostess told us that she would eldest us in a few because it looked too noisy for us at the moment which I thought was weird I made a joke about it ..we waited 20 min they seat three tables in the same area then finally seat us in the same "noisy" section whatever that means. I get a burger which was not the best, my Friends gets the veggie cavatellti dish that was so bitter she couldn't eat it, we tell the waitress after she checks up on us and she takes it away she was very nice but then wait another 1/2 hour for her dish to come out..Overall experience was not good and I feel at least they could of offered her a drink for waiting coming or something

The main course entrees were TERRIBLE. I know when you are from NY, the food other places cannot compare, but this was like BAD WEDDING food. The seafood in the seafood linguini was over cooked and some of the clams had sand in them. The Fillet MIgnon had a sauce that was so sweet that it ruined the taste of a beautiful piece of meat. The ambiance was just ok. Would NEVER recommend.

Yelp
Need to update my review! We ate here again and you need to try the snowball/ amazing chocolate dessert with cake ice cream and toasted coconut YUM!

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at Clark's Cookhouse this past Saturday while staying in Newport for the seafood festival. We had a party of 9 people and the service was awesome, but the food was even better. The place is really cool but also very crowded. Definitely on or list for Seafood Festival 2025.

Yelp
Horrible. We arrived with a reservation in October (10/20). The person checking outside us is was distant and we felt he did not want to be there. Very mechanical, seemed to be unapproachable. We understand that many people who dine there are arrogant (feel entitled and are downright nasty), and we empathize with the staff. The Calamari was marginal. We ordered a seared tuna salad (a few slices of tuna and no flavor or dressing) and a $37 salmon dinner (when they say, "rabe", it means a miniscule amount of greens). Both came out COLD. Will asked if we wanted to send it back and we said, "NO" (if you know anything about chefs, you NEVER send anything back). We will never go back. Such a shame. My sister and I ate there years ago and this was a wonderful experience. The food is not good now.
