"Claudia’s Steakhouse opened in June 2015 at 1501 K Street NW near the White House, offering a massive space for 400 diners with lots of glossy glass tile and nightclub-esque red leather. Claudia Rivas, the steakhouse’s namesake, took over cooking duties in the fall of 2015. Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema preferred its empanadas and whole snapper to the steaks." - Adele Chapin

"The Latin-leaning, scene-y downtown destination adorns “the Tower” with oysters, shrimp, lobster, jumbo lump crab, and ceviche. Dates can split a $110 medium tower (for two to three). There’s also a large option ($180) for four to six." - Tierney Plumb, Gabe Hiatt

"At this downtown Latin style steakhouse, empanadas are on the appetizer menu at lunch and dinner. The signature Claudia’s order comes with beef, egg, olives and peppers, and the vegetarian option is filled with black beans and corn." - Aparna Krishnamoorthy

Food here was surprisingly very good. The fried plantain chips were crunchy and similar to a thick kettle chip crispy. The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce but the sauce and accompanying ingredients made a refreshing dish. The salmon, a fish very easily overcooked, was delightfully tender without being raw. The side of asparagus could be charred a little less. Mashed potatoes have a hidden spiciness to them! The beer soaked brown sugar drunken ribeye steak was pretty good overall, however they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. When asked, they said they cook a tender pink medium steak but did not take a request to make it medium rare. Strangely while most of the steak was a tender medium consistency, a smaller side portion was closer to a better medium rare to rare consistency. The cheesecake was pretty good overall. The warm chocolate cake was a bit dry on the sides but delicately smooth like pudding. The desserts had a contrasting tart sauce that overpowered the cheesecake just a little bit.

Claudia's is a nice, new addition to the DC restaurant scene, just a year old. The portions were a good size, but the price did rack up fairly quickly, lol. Staff was fantastic and we enjoyed the complementary plantain crisps and amuse-bouche of the chef's soup selection was nice way to set expectations. Pros: side dishes were large and plentiful for sharing, we got the honey-fried Brussel sprouts (good, but not fabulous) and French fries (seasoned and done the way I like); the rack of lamb was a set of two thick portions (6 ribs) and was well prepared (I was happy that med-rare was pretty rare); the drunken steak was alright, but my friend ordered it med-well, so it was too done for me; the petite filet mignon was nice, but I've tasted better; booth was nice and comfortably fix 5 adults and made it easy to face each other and share plates. Cons: there is live flamenco music and dancers, which was entertaining, but MUCH too LOUD for conversation with a group. Over all, I would say it may be pricy, but fine for a date night where you can sit close to the person you want to talk with or just not talk at all. LoL I probably won't go back for dinner, but I would stop in for their happy hour at the bar and try that - looked like it was most of their Small Plates priced ~$3 cheaper and tempting cocktails in the $5 to $7 range.

Everything was amazing!!! From the decor to the drunken ribeye. Their service was wonderful as well. You can't go wrong with this place. My only regret is I should have came to this place sooner.

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night. Food was outstanding as was the service. Great selection of scotch ... served with the large 2.5 inch ice cube ... excellent espresso. Tried the drunken rib eye ... truly outstanding!

I've been to Claudia's twice this week. The first for their summer lunch special (Chirashi Tuna) and the second for BBQ & Grilling Week... both experiences were amazing! Can't wait to go back!

My children took me to Claudia’s for Father’s Day and the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I definitely recommend it for special occasions.

From the moment you walk in, your experience begins! The ambiance, the service & then the main dish arrives & it’s perfect! From the presentation of the meal until the last bite Claudia’s does it all upscale! A must dine when in DC!

Had lunch here. The decor is great with black & white and crystal theme. The menu reflected a Puerto Rican flare. @RealtorNicola will come back to checkout happy hour and jazz. I will definitely keep this on my list for client meetings
