Downey, a graduate of El Centro College’s culinary arts program, formerly served as sous chef at Paslay’s Piattello Italian Kitchen, and has worked at Meddlesome Moth and Bird Café." - Amy McCarthy

So my friend and I are die hard sporting clays shooters from Idaho and were looking for a steakhouse nearby and saw Clay Pigeon. So we invisible had to stop in. The atmosphere is definitely that of a higher end, older feel style steakhouse. You can feel the stories and history of its roots coming through. Brent was our server and was extremely knowledgeable, and very helpful in guiding us along what was on the menu. From the specials, to the steaks, and other great meals. I ended up with the burger with candied jalapeño bacon with brie, and it was to die for. Absolute dream burger, and I'm so happy. I'll be back ladies and gentlemen!

Booking a reservation here as the finale to a wedding anniversary trip as a surprise to my husband was the perfect cherry on top. The atmosphere was perfect, a wonderful fire place going to add some warmth and charm, the exposed brick, beautiful floral bouquets, and a gorgeous wine room along the back. The from scratch menu had just enough choices without being too limited or too crowded - I will say the cocktail menu does lean towards the deeper darker elements and as a fruity fun vodka girlie I did end up having to lean into the wine menu instead, which was a tad disappointing because I do love to experience a truly unique cocktail during special occasions. My husband and I split a wedge salad, the pickled onions added a nice brightness to the salad and can I give a huge shoutout to whomever chose that blue cheese because it had all the funkiness and flavor that I LOVE from blue cheese but some people shy away from. I ordered the Grilled Duck Breast - beautifully presented, packed full of flavor and overall a delicious plate of food. My husband ordered the Pan Roasted Chicken - I enjoyed taking bites of the apples that accompanied his dish and the chicken was nice and juicy. No proper celebration is complete without dessert and because we’re both sweets lovers we decided to order two different dishes. Desserts were accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine graciously given from the staff to celebrate our anniversary. The Chocolate Coffee Pot De Crème was super rich and decedent and definitely designed with chocolate lovers in mind! I loved the cheesecake which added a nice fresh creaminess between bites of the Pot De Crème. If you’ve got a big appetite or have a love for all things sweets, it might be in your best interest to order individual desserts per person due to the sizing being a bit petite but thankfully we ordered two so we could share and try two different flavors and still be fully satisfied. Our server Doug was very kind and all the staff was very friendly. This dining experience was my favorite from our trip out to Fort Worth and if I could uber eats that Pot De Crème from here in Frisco… I’d order 3 right now with a nice glass of red wine and call it girl dinner at it’s finest.

We had a 5:30 reservation on a Friday evening and arrived ahead of part of our party. We were offered our table immediately but deferred to the bar instead where we were well cared for by Ethan and his teammate. My daughter ordered her drink customized with ingredients she spotted in other menu cocktails and it was mixed perfectly. We soon chose to be seated at our table and my sister joined us shortly. She ordered a cocktail and we ordered the marrow bones for the table. Scooping the roasted marrow onto the sourdough toast was a bit tricky and messy, but tasty and entirely worth it. More interesting than just artisan bread and butter would have been. I ordered the duck breast with red rice, butternut, and cherry jus. I've had duck that was greasy or overly fatty, and this was NOT that! Plump, tender, and perfectly done, just as meaty and satisfying as any beef tenderloin, and the accompaniments were well chosen. The only thing I might have wished different was to have more of the butternut component. We ordered the roasted mushrooms and the roasted glazed carrots for the table and they complemented the entree. The carrots were so delicious I couldn't stop eating them. My sister and I each chose a red wine to accompany dinner. The wine list isn't huge, but it is nicely rounded and offered a couple of choices that aren't in the standard list, including single varietal Roussanne and Grenache options. We shared the fig cake for dessert, and though it wasn't what I had imagined when we ordered, it was a pleasant cap to the meal reminiscent of a treacle from a British pub, though without so much over-the-top sugariness. Service was quick and friendly and well done. Recommend the complementary valet service as parking is limited and tight or on the street, possibly at a small distance.

My wife and I decided to try this spot for a date night, and it exceeded all our expectations. The highlight of the evening was the duck, which was cooked to absolute perfection—crispy skin with tender, flavorful meat that melted in your mouth. The chef truly knows their craft. The atmosphere was ideal for a romantic evening, with just the right balance of intimate and lively. We were equally impressed with the dessert, which was a decadent finish to our meal, and the drink selection was top-notch, offering a great range of options to suit any palate. What really made the night special, though, was the service. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and made to feel like VIPs. Our server was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and had a genuine passion for making sure we enjoyed our evening. They offered great recommendations and made sure every detail was just right, without being overbearing. Clay Pigeon is not just a meal, but a whole experience. We left feeling completely satisfied and looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable night out!

My husband booked our reservation after reading a couple of local blogs. Let me say, this did not disappoint. The more I cook at home, the less I enjoy eating out. The Clay Pigeon exceeded my expectations. We had the bone marrow appetizer which was divine. Our entrees were perfectly portioned. All of the waitstaff from front of house, to servers, to bus boys, worked cohesively as a team. Lovely experience and we will definitely be back.

All around a great place. If you’re looking for a restaurant to have an intimate meal or to impress your boss/friends/in-laws this is the perfect place! The menu is small but far from simple. Everything has been clearly curated and designed to be as flavorful as possible. From the composition of the dishes to the freshness of the produce being served, there’s no lack of effort to be found. Aside from the food, the staff is very friendly and attentive. They’re very good at offering suggestions and pairings if you’re sure of what to order.

A fantastic experience and a great place to go for any event, date night, whatever. The food is fantastic, and the service is equally as good. They have a really great wine list, good desserts, and everything in between. I would recommend going here for whatever event you’re celebrating!

We were looking for a mid-range, but elevated date night experience and Clay Pigeon NAILED IT! Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would highly recommend! We were able to easily make a 7:15pm Friday reservation the day before (on Thursday afternoon) via Resy (though I wouldn't be surprised if you need to do so farther in advance for popular occasions). Upon arriving, the restaurant was about half capacity and we (a party of 2) were sat at a very small table against the wall; we felt a little claustrophobic and asked the hostess if we could switch to one of the slightly larger 2-seated tables - she happily accommodated. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey, with a slightly modern industrial appeal. The service is impeccable! Everyone is very friendly and you are waited on by multiple individuals. It's the type of restaurant where you receive new utensils between courses and they fold your napkin for you when you rise (nice touches like this always leave an impression). The restrooms also featured individual hand towels for use, to toss in a hamper when done - much more elevated than paper towels or dryers. We were sat around 7:05pm and left around 8:45pm for a very casual and enjoyable dining experience. We each ordered two cocktails: - (2) extra dirty vodka martini with blue cheese olives, which was made quite well - (1) "Spice Up Your Life" (Woodford Reserve, Cherry Heering, Ancho Reyes, Tempus Fugit Crème de Cacao) A little sweeter than expected and very strong, but overall enjoyable - (1) "Kentucky Hug Sour" (Maker’s 46, Lemon, Sugar, Egg White) delicious and well-made whiskey sour with a perfect combination of sour, sweet and froth. For appetizers we shared: - Grilled Bone Marrow: Parsley & Fennel Salad – Sourdough. Absolutely buttery and delicious. We loved the pickled onions. Definitely a must! - Burrata Salad: Green Garlic Pistou – Snow Peas – Asparagus – Speck. This was probably my favorite thing we ordered. Wonderful proportions and so fresh tasting! I'm trying to figure out how I could replicate this for dinner parties at home. The entrees and side we shared: - Grilled duck breast: Roasted Mushrooms – Fennel Soubise – Cherry Jus. The duck was cooked perfectly! And the cherry jus was what made it perfect in my opinion. - Fresh Catch (red snapper on our visit): Green Garlic – Roasted Artichokes – Snap Peas – Charred Lemon. The fish was so brightly flavored and cooked perfectly. Between the burrata salad appetizer and this entree, I have GOT to research green garlic. Sauce was perfection! - Side of Mac N Cheese (no bacon): we love trying macaroni and cheese at nice restaurants. This one did not disappoint. Creamy with a rich flavor, wonderful spiral pasta and a touch of breadcrumbs Dessert we shared: - Chocolate coffee pot de creme: Basically mocha mousse. Small proportion visually, but we were already stuffed and it's so rich that it was just the right amount. Nice way to end a delicious meal. With four cocktails, two appetizers, two entrees, one side, one dessert + tip: our meal was between $200-$300, as expected since the prices are available online - which I always appreciate. It was the nicest dinner we have been on in a long time, and we'll definitely be coming back. Between the atmosphere, the food and the service: the evening felt intimately special.
