What a gem! Delicious sandwiches and so many pastries and baked goods! All plant-based, some gluten free options as well! Some seating inside the building, some outside, and additional seating in a veranda attached to the bakery. Lovely staff, friendly service and great opening hours. Highly recommend!

Clementine Bakery is as Brooklyn as it gets—vegan and of course, one must have avocado toast! The outdoor seating is nice, but it can get a bit hectic, especially when there are more people than the staff can handle. Unfortunately, that meant tables weren’t cleaned promptly after customers left, which was a bit of a downside. It’s definitely a spot where people like to bring their laptops and hang out for a while. On the bright side, they offer a good variety of food, and overall, it’s a nice place to grab a bite if you’re in the neighborhood.

My husband ordered a birthday cake for my 30th. Although the cake was visually stunning, they gave us the wrong flavor? We ordered vanilla with raspberry jam and ended up with a blueberry cake. They never responded to his follow up email, so can’t say that the customer service is good. The cake itself was fine for vegan cake, but I’d give it a 7/10 on flavor and density.

Nice to have an all-vegan cafe with lots of breakfast and lunch options and a huge selection of baked goods. Just order wisely. I had only come here once before (in 2017) and was ambivalent then. I returned and I’m still ambivalent. I ordered poorly: the breakfast burrito was plain with a tofu scramble that anyone could replicate at home in a wrap (although the vegan bacon bites were distinct); it was cut in half and fell apart. But I was hungry and wanted something healthy and nourishing. At $15 it seemed overpriced for what I got. The almond croissant was also a mistake— big and crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. It didn’t taste like almond and I couldn’t tell if it was gooey because it had some (non-almond) spread or because it was very undercooked. The inside of the cafe also has a beautiful little market with bulk soaps and other nice things like candles to purchase. I’ll be back to try other things on their menu.

I’ve been going to clementine for over 10 years. I absolutely loved it. The woman who owned it was the sweetest and it was a beloved local spot. Recently it was sold and they have absolutely tanked this place. One of the people working is so incredibly rude, the vibe has totally changed, and there just aren’t any baked goods anymore. Whomever bought clementine is slowly killing our beloved local vegan spot! Don’t change what was already gold.

I really wanted to like this place as it's vegan and so am I, but the vibe is not what you'd expect. No one acknowledged us walking in even though there was no one else there, the barista did not look up from their phone until there was a coffee to be made. It left a bad impression. We got there quite late so the selection was scarce but we tried one of their cakes which was fine but too sweet for my taste and the frosting was too 'buttery'. Coffee was mid. I'm sure that the place is much better in the morning, buzzing with people and lots of pastries, so I'd suggest trying it in the early hours to avoid disappointment and bad service.

Exquisite vegan bakery in Brooklyn that offers a selection of vegan and/or gluten free pastries, breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. Staff were very lovely, especially the redhead from Dublin whom we had a lovely chat with. I’ve never had a better croissant or pain au chocolate – these were seriously on point! Also enjoyed the BLAT sandwich and a few day old scones and muffins for only $1.50. Love that they are conscious about waste as well. Will definitely return when I’m back in Brooklyn.

My family ordered my birthday cake from here this year and it was delish! I'm lactose intolerant so seeing as Clementine makes their cakes dairy free, I got to enjoy a sweet treat without worrying about it. The cake I received was a 6 inch vanilla cream cheese frosting with funfetti cake. It was truly amazing. Super moist and just the right amount of icing. It was delivered to me, so I can't talk about the service or ambiance of the place but the quality of the cake was on point. Will be ordering from here again.

I've been frequenting Clementine Bakery for a year or so now and its just a really nice bakery. Im pretty sure everything is vegetarian but I honestly never checked. You definitely can't tell. They make very good drinks (coffees, teas, matcha, chai etc) with no up charges for different milks (they dont offer cows milk obviously) They also have a wide selection of pastries and cakes. The donuts are delicious! Not too sweet and very fluffy. My only gripe is you cant get any of the pastries warmed up I havent tried but they have a breakfast and lunch menu as well. There isnt a lot of indoor seating but enough outdoor seating for about 30 ppl.

Compared to my first visit to Clementine Bakery, I think the quality has gone downhill. The pastries looked delicious, but the taste was a letdown. I ordered the "cruffin" which is a croissant muffin topped with fresh fruit. It's visually beautiful and looks like it has the flaky texture of a non-vegan croissant, but it tasted kinda stale and chewy/raw inside. I also ordered a carrot cupcake and it was hella dry. I was so disappointed in the flavor and texture of the pastries ordered :(( I did visit in the afternoon so maybe that's why the pastries weren't fresh or the best tasting. Other than this experience, I usually love Clementine Bakery. I love their friendly staff, extensive baked goods suitable for vegan/gluten free individuals, and kindness they demonstrate to their customers. But, this last visit was very average. I'm hoping to was an off day and look forward to trying again earlier in the morning.

Clem is my favorite gluten free vegan friendly bakery and cafe because: -the coffee is freaking phenomenal, their espresso is delicious too enough to drink as a shot, finally a spot that doesn't consistently underextract. -there's sweets as well as a great gf v friendly brunch menu -the baristas are so sweet! I will never stop making the trek out for my cupcakes and eggplant Sammies xoxo

I've been going to Clementine for many years and finally got around to making a review. I remember when they used to have the peanut butter and jelly squares. I haven't seen those in the last year. I've tried cupcakes in the past so this time around I tried their vegan strawberry cake. I was excited to try it, but unfortunately was disappointed. It was quite dry, almost to the point of being stale and the butter cream icing was thin and lacked any flavor. This would normally amount to a 3 star or lower rating, but Clementine has been consistent over time so the 4 star rating stands for now. I will be back in the future, but don't think I'll try any cakes.

Ate here today and the food was HORRIBLE. Very bland sandwich, overcooked and tasteless "Buffalo cauliflower wings" I've been vegan for 8 years and this is the worst vegan food I've had. Maybe they're known for their pastries and not the food. I wouldn't eat here again

One of my favorite places. I don't mind paying $40 for a pie, but unfortunately, the girl working the register had problems with my order. I ordered two cupcakes and she only gave me one. Then she forgot to give me the brownie she charged me for and then gave me the wrong brownie. Listen, I am a grown adult. I don't want sprinkles on my brownie; I wanted the (vegan) cream cheese one. Feel free to ask me to repeat if you don't understand. This happened ANOTHER time with ANOTHER brownie. The wrong brownie was good that time, but this one wasn't good at all. I dropped $56 then also paid for the additional cupcake she forgot to get/charge me for. It's on me for not checking every single item right then and there with a line behind me. I also had a couple of Too Good to Go orders that they canceled when I was on the way to get them. Clementine Bakery is GREAT, but they need to up their customer service a little bit. One time when I was in there near closing, an employee said "Nobody is in here at this hour...." and I was thinking, wow, I'm here. I can understand if they are busy or need to charge high prices, but at least make it worthwhile.

I get the TooGoodToGo order whenever possible! The desserts are always so fresh and delicious! Even at closing time they're a line because of how good it is. The vibe is relaxed and casual.

This is a cute neighborhood bakery. I'm a cream cheese frosting snob and asked what type of frosting the cupcakes had but the employee wasn't able to tell me. It was a bit disappointing that she wasn't more knowledgeable. I ended up getting a red velvet cupcake and it turned out to have regular vanilla frosting. The cupcakes are kept in a refrigerated case which makes sense in the summer heat so mine was a bit cold when I ate it. The cake seemed like it would be moist at room temperature. The frosting was thick and dense. Not the best, not the worst! They have a ton of outdoor seating in the front and on the side of the bakery, some of which is shared with the ice cream shop next door.

No indication that this place is vegan if ur just walking in and not googling the place. I'm looking at the menu seeing bacon, chicken, eggs, cheese and whatnot - I order a breakfast taco. Asked for whole milk in my coffee and the cashier immediately stopped being friendly , cmon. Unexpected surprise when I get home and the bacon in my breakfast is fake beef jersey that tastes like ass. On top of that this place is too expensive, service isn't even good for what ur paying. The drinks are good, won't be coming back for food. This place draws a crowd of Brooklyn transplants with kids whose strollers are more than my rent.

Another great vegan bakery in Brooklyn, the bakery items are really good and they have nice cakes and cupcakes with great designs, they also serve food, got the mushroom burger and the impossible sandwich both were delicious, staff were friendly and helpful the interior was very welcoming and relaxing they have some seating good for small gatherings, def recommend checking them out

Although the cake and cupcakes we ordered taste good, contacting them was difficult . They dont answer their phone, they dont respond to emails- Their available flavors change daily so if you have to grab and go be prepared to walk in blind sided . I still purchased an 8' because I was visiting someone whos birthday I had to celebrate and it was last minute . What saves them is that their the only vegan bakery nearby. Otherwise, flavor was good , customer service in store was good .

They've kind of changed over the years, and I enjoyed their previous incarnation better, but they're still a pretty good place. Nothing there is ever 'bad' per se, although some stuff is better than others. The cinnamon roll is always great.

One of my coworkers recommended this place to me because I love going to bakeries and trying pastries. I went around 4pm on a Saturday, and there were not many options for baked goods. I ended up getting their Sweet Bread Pastry and I thought it was pretty solid. The outside had a rustic bread texture, but the inside was very fluffy. I can't speak to the other items on their menu, since I was coming mainly for their pastries. The inside is really cute! They have plants on sale and a bunch of other items too. Next time, I want to go in earlier in the day when they have a bigger selection.

it's so sad. this place used to be so delicious and such a joy to go to but for some reason these past two months the workers have been extremely rude and the food has been horrible. not to mention they started skimping you on your coffees not filling them all the way up. bring back the good french fries. can I ask for my money back for these horrible fries or is that rude?

Cute, reasonably priced cafe with all the classic drinks, as well as a pretty sizable food menu. It's all plant-based, so don't be a fool like me and ask for regular milk lol. There is no indoor seating, but the seating out front is comfortable enough and mostly protected from the elements. I didn't have any issues with the Wi-Fi reaching me outside.

Recently got an Iced Oat Chai Latte from Clementine and it was so nice and refreshing! Clementine is a vegan friendly bakery that doesn't charge extra for oat milk and serves some of the best vegan bakery goods I've ever tried! They sometimes even have samples - I tried a realllly tasty vegan cake sample when I got my chai and wow! I completely forgot I was eating a vegan cake. The inside is also adorable, it's so nice and so we'll decorated, truly a great place to meet up with friends. They also have an outdoor seating area. They're always super busy, BUT service is great, super quick and friendly. So excited to come back next time!

I ordered a custom sheet cake from Clementine and I couldn't be happier! It's just as fun and colorful as I was hoping for and it fit the theme of my son's birthday perfectly. Ordering and pick up was a breeze. The cake was delicious!

Been here a couple times and one of the cashiers is always so unfriendly - one time I asked her for the wifi password and she made me go inside to look at it myself, so I had to leave my food outside unattended. Food is expensive for what it is. Matcha latte is not real matcha, tastes like one of those sugary packs. Pastries are decent.

I was looking for a bakery near where I was at on the border of Clinton Hill and Bed Stuy and saw Clementine Bakery was nearby, so decided to give it a try. It was a cute, quaint shop offering baked goods, sandwiches, bowls, salads, coffees, teas, and more. Note: they offer both vegan and gluten-free options here! It was around 1pm, so their options were understandably lessened at that point. The cashier didn't seem too enthusiastic about being there in general and maybe just was having a bad day, but unfortunately came across as unfriendly. As I was trying to decide what I wanted, as all of my mains and back-up options were out, I watched another employee rearrange some muffins and dropped one on the shelf. They tried to act like they were going to take it off the shelf because they saw me witness them do that, then ended up putting it back with the other muffins and walked away. So I made sure not to order any of them, as that's a food health and safety hazard. As a food establishment, it should be a priority to value health and safety over losing a few bucks. In the end, I went with Monkey Bread and a Vanilla Donut. They both were large in size, and average in taste. One thing I did notice is that part of the wrapping got stuck on the monkey bread, so they might want to reconsider how they package it. As much as I wanted to love this spot, the experience and food was just subpar to me. However, with a variety of delicious looking options offered, I'd consider going back for a second try!

You'd be forgiven if you mistook the inside of this bakery for the inside of a plant shop, or even that of a movie set depicting a grocery store. The shelves of this provisions shop are filled with colorful, picture perfect fruits and vegetables that look cartoonishly good. The plants hanging all around the space are also appropriate for the entirely plant based menu specializing in custom cakes, sandwiches, bowls, and salads, and pastries. I visited on a summer weekday afternoon and every outdoor table in their extensive al fresco set up was occupied. A friend and I enjoyed a blueberry danish and pistachio croissant under the awning of their shop, after waiting in line for a bit. I was impressed by the lamination of the dough without the help of butter, and the consistency of the "cream cheese" in the blueberry danish. I found both pastries just a hint too sweet, but that might just be my anomalous palate, because from what I can tell this place is very beloved. I'm glad I got to try it and that a community-rooted vegan cafe exists in the neighborhood.

come here a lot, today tried the gluten free coconut muffin which is a new favorite! the brownie is good but wouldn't get it with cream cheese on top again

I'm such a sucker for cute vegan cafes, and this is a cute vegan cafe. I had a breakfast burrito which was good, although the menu said it was supposed to have tater tots in it but it had sliced potatoes instead (maybe they ran out?). I just wish they let me know the changed ingredient and that it was more evenly distributed, but the overall experience was still worth it. The outdoor seating area was very nice and there was ample seating. I also got an iced chai and a donut for later (which got smushed in my backpack :( but it was still good.

The most clutch tip I can offer is the discounted day-old baked goods that are offered at a reduced price and are just a day or two old. I've indulged in many a baked good at this adorable plant based, garden and kitchen supplies slash cafe. Sitting outside can be a little loud, I believe there is still no indoor seating or it's very limited. They own the ice cream shop next door and offer the most delicious vegan soft serve. In summary, Clementine truly is a Clinton Hill neighborhood stable for us vegan folks. I suggest the baked goods over the hot food menu if you need to choose wisely. We Clementine!

Just got a hot chai but it was the best one I've had in months and months. Will definitely be going back, service was amazing.

This place has delicious baked goods and drinks too. Their vast selection of cakes is truly amazing and for the few I have tried it is great. They have a good selection of vegan baked goods and plant-based foods as well.

Covid report: Outdoor seating only as of October 2021. It was packed when I visited on a Sunday morning. My boyfriend and I ordered: + hot coffee - great, and they have dairy options along with non-dairy milks. Free refills when you get it to stay + breakfast burrito - delicious + BLAT - good, though I liked the burrito more + classic cinnamon roll - great Free mini croissants near the register were a nice touch. 4.5 stars.

Soooo this place is great don't get me wrong I love the delicious pastries and the beautiful plants but the staff ? I mean all of them were just sitting around laughing talking about god knows what when they have customers standing in front of them , like you do that in the back or on your break . And I asked one of the girls what something was and she's like I don't know . The place is amazing but sometimes staff can make a place real wack real quick . Extremely unprofessional and extremely rude

Absolutely scrumptious vegan baked goods! Their croissants are so light and flakey, and they make both savory and sweet. We tried both the chocolate and the sausage and cheese. It was hard to believe that the sausage was plant based. They have a wide variety of donuts and cupcakes as well as other pastries. We also tried the breakfast biscuit and the avocado toast, which were delicious.

Good spot! Their food is quite tasty but every time I eat here I get a terrible migraine. After three times in which I developed a migraine after eating pastries here I had to stop. It's good but not worth the migraine. Service and ambience are excellent! The staff are super nice and it's such a cute spot.

Extremely rude. The worst customer service i've encountered. As a tourist, I was excited to try this place, but I guess the only thing they care about is getting you out as fast as possible. Even the simplest questions will piss off the cashier. How unfortunate.

This place is all vegan, they have breakfast, sandwiches and salads. The bread was really great and the donuts were really nice as a vegan option as well. They have a great cold brew. Just know that the inside area is small and there is only outdoors seating. It's under a cover but if it gets busy, there is limited seating.

Loved the vibe, cute place to read a book in good weather! I liked the sausage, egg, and cheese on English muffin much more than the brownie, which I felt was a bit dry. However, their savory options really impressed me. When I went, they didn't have any pot pies available, but I'm really interested to try them out! They also have a sausage cheddar croissant that sounds really good. I also appreciated that they had a water tank available for outdoor dining, which many bakeries and cafes have neglected to offer.

DO NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING AN ICE CREAM CAKE FROM THIS COMPANY. I placed an order for an ice cream cake through the Dreamery (sister store next door) website on 11/29/23, with the promise of it being available for pickup the next business day, Saturday 12/2/23, at 12 pm. Despite the Dreamery site indicating closure until Spring 2024, I assumed they were still accepting cake orders and allowing pickups on Saturdays, given the online payment option and the next available pickup date. Upon arriving at the store at 12 pm on Saturday (12/2), I discovered that Dreamery was closed. After checking Clementines, the Dreamery, and texting with the baker, the employee informed me that the baker hadn't made the cake. Although they offered to have one ready by the next day, I couldn't wait as I was headed upstate to celebrate my birthday. Several employees assured me they would process a refund, but the manager intervened only after "overhearing" the conversation. It would have been more appropriate for him to intervene immediately, rather than the 20 minutes I was waiting for the girls to communicate with the bakers while they were dealing with a busy store. The manager informed me that I should never have been allowed to place a cake order because the Dreamery store was closed for the season. He even said he had to close the section of the site that allows you to place orders. He claimed he would refund me within 15 minutes (once he "figured out how to do that"), but to my dismay, I never received the refund. Disheartened and frustrated by the entire situation, I chose not to engage with them further due to perceived incompetence. Subsequently, I initiated a dispute with Afterpay, and Dreamery responded by asserting the validity of the charge. First, if they have been able to figure out how to counter my dispute, why haven't they figured out how to refund me? Secondly, if, indeed, Dreamery does not accept cake orders during their closed season, why did they counter the dispute? Upon checking their website today, I discovered that they hadn't removed the cake ordering option, contradicting the manager's claim. It appears the manager provided an excuse for their failure, and despite continuous disappointment, I have yet to receive the $81 refund. After dedicating a significant amount of time to visit the store, dispute the charge, and now compose this review in the hope of a resolution, it's disheartening to have encountered such a disappointing experience. I have waited for seven years to find a vegan ice cream cake for my birthday, only to be met with this. What a shame. I hope I will not have to take time to go to the store to get this resolved.

This is a fantastic bakery where everything tasted so delicious, it was hard to understand how it was vegan. For example, the croissant that my tempeh bacon, egg and cheese sandwich came on was buttery and flakey like a non-vegan croissant. The custard in the blueberry custard pastry I got tasted egg-y and creamy like non-vegan custard. The baking skill to achieve such resemblances and quite frankly taste better than their non-vegan counterparts is very impressive. Will definitely be back. I wish I would have taken pictures. The pastries are beautiful and the food is delicious.

Bought 5 of the cookies from here- the pecan chocolate chip, gluten free chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie, and the birthday s'mores cookie. Of the three, the sugar cookie was essentially inedible. It had this SUPER artificial flavor and was way too sweet. I legitimately took one bite and tossed the rest. The pecan chocolate chip cookie was decent. The cookie itself was a little too crispy and sweet for me, but the chocolate was really yummy in it. I couldn't believe that the chocolate was vegan. The birthday sprinkles cookie was inconsistent. I got two of them. One of them was really soft and tender on the inside with a crunchy exterior. It also had marshmallow in it which was really good! The other one was a lot crispier. The flavor was still not bad but there was no marshmallow in this one. I would expect both cookies to be the same- the first was almost stuffed while the second was more like a regular cookie. The gluten free chocolate chip cookie was awful. It had a completely bready texture and it was so dry and crumbly. I took one bite and nearly wheezed from all the crumbs. I'm not sure what was used as the base, but it definitely did not taste like a cookie traditionally. I would definitely not get this again. Each cookie is massive- so definitely a steal for the price

Thought I'd give the bakery another chance to make up for the poor breakfast I had last time and after trying again, I'm proud to say that I will no longer eat at this establishment. I came to the bakery early and ordered the banana chip muffin, not knowing or caring that it was gluten free. Once I got home and took a bite, it was sugary and firm which was nice, but on the second bite, I felt as though someone had force fed me a wet wad of newspaper. Couldn't even get it down the hatch as it was too thick, tasteless and disgusting. Waste of five dollars. Chai tea I ordered was also too sweet. Come here at your own risk!

I want to love this place so bad but, after coming here on and off for years, I just feel it misses the mark. The sandwiches are inconsistent and the menu doesn't seem to have changed much if at all in 3-4 years. The pastries are on the dry/ stale side- not sure if I'm getting day-olds or if that's how they come... I feel like we hype up vegan businesses so much, and shy away from giving critical feedback because we want them to stay open but I feel like this place needs a revamp on the menu and ingredient adjustments on the pastries.
