Yelp
This review is for their Bruschetteria Food Truck only, although we had a few glasses of wine to go with our food. Clif Family Winery has been on my radar for awhile due to their food truck onsite, and with all the restrictions on dining due to COVID I figured our latest visit to Napa Valley was a perfect opportunity to try it out.
LOGISTICS
While they have their main tasting room out front, Clif has a great outdoor patio in the back with tables appropriately spaced out and umbrellas for shade. Tastings are also being done on the patio so some tables may be reserved for scheduled tastings, otherwise the patio seating for the food truck is subject to availability on a first come first serve basis. You can even order glasses of their wine to have with your food.
Minor side note about the food truck - they don't have a printed menu and will require you to scan a QR code or use their website to look at the latest menu. Cards are the only form of payment being accepted.
FOOD
The fiance and I had ordered the following with some glasses of wine...
Funghi Bruschetta - This was really good - super flavorful and savory. The blend of mushrooms went great with the cheese, and on top of toast it made for a great combo of textures. It was definitely one of the better mushroom dishes I've had in awhile. As a vegetarian option this is a solid choice if you like mushrooms. This also went really well with a glass of their viognier.
Nashville Hot Chicken Bruschetta - The fiancé has been on a Nashville hot chicken spree... so when he saw this on the menu it was an obvious choice. It's basically an open faced spicy fried chicken sandwich, but it was definitely one of the better ones we've tried. The chicken was juicy and flavorful - not at all cardboard dried. Plus the sauce was just the right amount of spicy. The bread was really good with soaking the sauce. One of the best parts was the pickles - the sourness of the pickles really complimented the chicken and sauce. It's a messy experience to eat it an we definitely recommend using a fork and knife, but if you see it on their menu don't pass it up! Be sure to try this with a red wine, as it definitely went better than lighter wines like the viognier. The fiancé had this with a glass of Improv Zinfadel.
Arancini - What's not to love about deep fried risotto balls? The risotto was perfectly cooked and creamy despite it being breaded and fried. A very good appetizer to eat outside. It went really well with pomodoro sauce, which gave it a nice zesty tang.
Padron Peppers - This was a seasonal appetizer / side dish... padron peppers remind me more of shisito peppers, and when they're blistered they have a pleasant taste that's between peppery and zesty. Once in awhile you'll get one that has a kick, but otherwise this was a tasty dish to eat. I really liked the cream sauce that came with it, made for a nice cooling effect with the peppers.
OVERALL
In terms of food quality vs price, a solid 5 stars in my book. They also have a nice outdoor setup with plenty of hand sanitizer around. The staff were friendly and accomodating. I'm a little overdue on this review since we came here right after the big thunderstorm that triggered the Lightning Complex fire, but I'd still come back when things are normal. This place is definitely on my list for future places to eat... and future places to have a wine tasting at!
