Corned beef sandwich was nice and tender. Service was ok. The Room is dark all wood paneling. More light would be nice but it feels like a rustic sailors bar

My first time eating here tonight . Food was great. The service was horrible. My husband and I waited 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order. Waitress never checked to see how things were. She made us feel rushed. We had to wait ever longer for refills while we were eating. We then waited another 20 minutes for our check. My husband has been here many times. The food is great. No problems. But the hospitality needs major work. My husband had wings, and a burger I had the baked clams which tasted not to my liking, manhattan claim chowder and fried shrimp. We won’t be back anytime soon.

I finally had the chance to try Cliff’s Rendezvous last night after having it on my list for ages—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. From start to finish, everything was spot on. We kicked things off with the pierogis topped with sautéed onions and the mozzarella sticks. Both were delicious and made for a great start to the meal. For my main course, I went with the marinated petite filet—10/10. So much flavor, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. The mashed potatoes alongside it were definitely homemade and absolutely hit the mark. Dessert didn’t disappoint either. Between the three of us, we tried the chocolate peanut butter pie, NY cheesecake, and tiramisu. Each one was excellent and the perfect way to wrap up the evening. The ambiance really added to the experience—cozy and welcoming. As soon as I saw the classic wood paneling, I had a feeling this place would be a hit, and it truly was.

We went on the day for the steak special. The three course price fix. We added the Gorgonzola to the steak and it was amazing. The steak was prepared perfectly. The chowder had a lot of clams. The staff is friendly.

When you first walk in it looks like a dive bar…BUT we decided to have dinner and I’m so glad we did. The food was amazing! The drinks superb! The steak was perfect and flavorful, the seafood amazing!

The marinated burger, the best burger I ever ate, was bursting with flavors that danced on my palate. Each bite revealed a perfect blend of spices, complemented by the smoky char from the grill. Topped with fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and a dollop of creamy sauce, it was a masterpiece of culinary art. I savored every moment, wishing I could relive that experience again and again.

Absolutely the best after all these years! It’s been 26 years since we’ve have been here and they have not changed the marinade on the steaks. 110% the best steak in town!

Amazing place, makes delicious steak, BBQ pork ribs, seafood dishes with generous amount of salad and side dishes. My friend had marinated steak and T bone, I had BBQ pork rib, all taste marvelous. Highly recommended.

Cliffs is a staple in Riverhead. Operating since the 1970s, Cliffs serves up mostly surf and turf options. When I visited it was filled will locals, and it was interesting to watch the servers and bartenders call most patrons by their first name. I sat at the bar, and was immediately greeted by the bartender who asked my name and addressed me by my name the entire time I was there no matter how busy she got. Customer Service is clearly an emphasis here. I just came in for a mid-afternoon appetizer and beer. I ordered the philly cheese steak egg rolls. I felt like they were a bit bland and small given the price. They were served with a side of soy sauce, which I found a bit off as the flavors didn't really match up. It would have been exponentially better with a side of chipotle aioli or other similar dipping sauce. I can't judge the place completely on an app, so I won't be too judgemental. 4 stars for the small town feel and customer service, with an average appetizer.

An "East End" steakhouse. Visited a few times and the food is always reliable. Prices are fairly reasonable as well. I've only stuck with the basics of steaks and burgers, and they were very good. Atmosphere is casual and there's definitely a lot of locals that come in here. I'm not one of them but the staff is friendly and accommodating. As far as I'm concerned, you're not going to get a "Peter Lugers" type steak in here, but you are going to get a nice, satisfying tasty meal that won't break the bank.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. Was seated immediately. Services was great! Food was delicious! Ordered baked clams to start, it was yummy! Ordered the marinated burger and it came with fries! The fries and burger were super tasty! We finished the meal with the toasted almond cake, that was nice and light. It was a great meal, we will definitely be back! Thanks!

"This place is kind of good but kind of bad..." -my mom, after being cut off by a golf bro at the bar when trying to get the bartender's attention. As other reviewers have said, the food is incredible but the service is a bit rough. If you want to be taken care of and have your every need met -- like water, silverware, napkins, etc., in a timely manner, this place is going to let you down. But if you can stick it out, be patient and overlook the rough around the edges level of service, a meal at Cliff's will make you pretty happy -- especially if you love steak and seafood. My mom and I came here on a Saturday night and waited a short amount of time for seats to open. A woman who was there waiting for her partner asked us if we could switch bar seats with her, since the guy she was with is very superstitious and sat in this exact same seat last week before playing a successful round of golf, which he wanted to do again. We made room for golf bro since it meant we'd actually be seated sooner. We put in an order for clams on the half shell, and I ordered a dirty martini which was made perfectly. From this point until after our main courses came out, I tried to flag down some water from the bartender, but with every seat taken and golf bro needing lots of attention this took a while, as did trying to get some silverware. All that said, the clams were fresh, the steak special I ordered was impeccably marinated and the soft shell crabs were fried to golden perfection. I'd gladly come here and have my needs ignored again if it meant having food this good. The entire restaurant is pretty small and every table was taken on a Saturday night, so if you're planning to come and don't want to wait definitely call ahead and make a reservation.

5 star food 3 star service It's nothing to impress by looks, but the food is superb. Just outstanding! The seating is very tight if you dine in the upper dining area. We will definitely be back, but I would request the lower area. It's spaced much better. The evening we went, it was packed house and our server could not keep up. She was nice, but it was difficult to get her when we needed something. Our appetizer plates weren't cleared before our meals came and we were 4 people at a small table. My chair of if I moved at all, backed up into party next to us. But again..the food is unbelievable! That will bring me back for sure.

The server was pleasant and attentive And the food was perfect! The meal was pricy although we didn't go cheap and the tables were a little close together.

I have been going here recently prior to seeing a show at Suffolk Theatre. I made a reservation for 4 people. We were told they did not have a table for us. Unfortunately the staff who took my reservation did not write it " IN THE BOOK " Instead it was only written down on a piece of paper. The fool working the front counter lacked any skills necessary to address this customer's concerns. When I asked why not seat us at one of the open tables, I was told those reservations were written in the book. This was not my mistake but became my problem. We ended up seated at the bar on the most uncomfortable bar stool ever. Our party of four could not converse around a table and the people on the far sides could not speak to one another. We were offered no discount what so ever, no attempts at appeasement were made. The bar tender did not want to hear my complaints, instead my displeasure was left to fester. Do not go over the cliff, stay away from this place.

We were out on the East and visiting wineries and breweries, we went on maps and yelp to find a restaurant close by this came up I've had Cliffs Elbow Room so figured why not! WELL.... I'm happy we did!! All our meals were amazing! The salads great, the apps (mussels and zucchini) even better so at this point we were waiting for dinner we all got different things! A pasta dish, special burger, steak, seafood and duck all of us loved our meals and we cannot wait to go back!! We also had my 3 year old with us and the were great with her gave crayons and all!! Highly recommend!!

Place was empty on a Friday night, and we quickly figured out why. Food was underwhelming and mediocre. Started with oysters, that tasted spoiled and got us worried that we'll get sick(we didn't). After oyster appetizers I got "signature smash burger" and wife got "boiled scallops". Burger came out as a regular patty, no smash, and everything was sloppy. Boiled scallops came out in a bath of watered down butter with a bunch of italian seasoning for flavor... 99% sure those scallops were from a frozen bag. French fries were good, but thats a given at a place where average meal is $30. Definitely priced for fresh and good food, but ended up being very disappointing. TV has news on, distracting guests from nice and peaceful time. Would not recommend, will not return.

Marinated steak is amazing. Wait staff is very friendly. Place could use an update. Bar could use a redo.

Rob is the most amazing bartender ever! We brought 10 of her friends here and had the best night!! He is an unbelievable asset to any establishment that he works at and so sweet that he rescues animals!! Rob makes this restaurant what it is today!!

Been going here for years. Fantastic marinaded steak, Clams casino and baked clams!!! Great service and good ambiance. A little pricey but worth it when the food is great. Only wish they sell Malbec wine by the glass. It's a must try.

Always 4 stars, great people, great food, great location! If you're in Riverhead and want to feel like you traveled back in time to when restaurants were about atmosphere & food this is classic east end of Long Island. Just don't hassle the locals, it was our place long before the city Covid invasion. But you're welcome to get in where you fit in, have a steak, sit close to your neighbor while he tells tall tales

We were in Riverhead running errands (yes, a Costco run) on a rainy, cold Wednesday night and felt like sampling a bit of the local fare when we strolled past Cliff's. We were drawn in my the great name and that wonderful neon "Cocktail Lounge" sign. It looked inviting inside and the looks did not deceive. Good got great when we read the special menu under the glass: it was steak night! Three courses for $24.95. You gotta be kidding me! Great bowl of chowder, fabulous marinated shell steak and a delectable slice of chocolate cake for desert. Deanna, our server, was courteous, funny and helpful. The food was tasty, and the price sure was right. Costco runs will be made on Wednesdays from now on, and they will be followed by a visit to Cliff's Rendezvous.

Very good, I found the marinade a little salty, so I get mine not marinated. The steak is delicious!!

Waitress never came around and checked to see how food was or if we needed anything. Place was semi busy. But still had a lot of tables available. Average noice level. Wanted to have a nice quick dinner with wife at a table but no tables open. Bartender (think her name was Nancy) asked if we wanted to sit at bar so we did best choice ever. Great dinner cooked perfect everything came out wonderful. Highly recommend this place.

Came in late with my dad and the kitchen was about to close. Our wonderful bartender, Nancy told us we could sit at the bar and she'd put our orders in for us anyway. We both had marinated cheeseburgers, mine with fries and his with a baked potato. Everything was perfect. The marinated burger had a nice char on it and was cooked to perfection. Despite the kitchen closing, the fries were hot and crispy and the baked potato was perfect as well. Big shoutout to Nancy and Deanna for the incredible service, they took great care of us and we felt very welcomed. The interior was also very comforting and old school. Will definitely be back to try the steak!

Rear 5 Star Review - THE MARINADED SHELL STEAK! Cliff's a legend and for good reason. Good school restaurant with old school servers/bartenders that give you a bit a friendly sass. Disregard any of these one time reviewers as I will say they are clueless. If you like classic restaurants in classic setting you will love this place. Great drinks and food. The 5 star review is for their marinated shell steak. You have to order it in the marinade. This unique soy garlic blend that I have never tasted in my life. So delicious. For 20 bucks, how can you go wrong. This simple sirloin is in my top 5 steaks I have ever had. Addictive. If you are getting off the ferry and driving around the bend to get to the Hampton's, this is a must stop. A quintessential old time classic. LOVE Cliff's!!!! Thanks

Doesn't look to great walking in or sitting down the old wooden tables aren't to stable and I stuffed a drink coaster under a leg and we was good lol. Got fried calamari for a appetizer that was just ok but the marinated porter house I got for my entree was out of this world . They made it to my liking which is rare of course nice and bloody all The way threw.. I'll def be back for another one of these !

Walked in after a day at the batting cages. Was in the mood for wing . I was told they had the best in town .. the wings was horrible the only thing good about the wings was the breading lol they are either pre boiled the day before or cooked from frozen crispy outside and just mush inside and the center was cold like ice cold and the shapes of the wings was not right. We also ordered fried pickles which was not bad as well we got the steak sandwich the steak was good but could of been cut thinner eaten as a sandwich was impossible. The waitress was nice but definitely they definitelydon't follow covid protocol..

Stopped in for a quick bite after visiting the aquarium. It's walking distance from there and I'd heard good things. We were able to get a table without a wait and the service was spot on. I quickly looked through other Yelp reviews to help me deicide on what to get and landed with the burger - always a classic. I ordered a simple cheddar cheeseburger, medium rare, and marinated. YUMMY! The burger came out perfectly cooked and dripping with marinated juices. They were able to sub a side salad instead of fries with no problem, I don't think there was an extra cost, it wasn't mentioned and I didn't check the bill. We also ordered a shrimp wrap with a side salad, and a kids portion of grilled chicken/broccoli. They offer a kids menu but if you want something a little healthier for your little one, just know it's an option! Staff was very nice and although from the outside it looks a bit like a dark dive, it was actually decent inside and looked clean. Awesome stop for a bite in Riverhead, I will definitely be back!

I absolutely love Cliff's Rendezvous they have the BEST steak and their staff is amazing! Angel, Nancy, Bobby, Jeff, Deanna, Christina, Ashley, Katrina, Sarah, Rob and the entire staff treat you right at home.

I've always loved going to any of the Elbow Room locations. The marinated steak is second to none, and their baked clams are my absolute favorite! Some folks aren't huge on the consistency, but I personally love that they are like a purée. I was however slightly disappointed with our last meal. I got my usual, surf & turf with the marinated filet. Now fair warning, your marinated steak will LOOK burnt...it's not. It's just the beautiful color the marinade gives. However, my steak was absolutely charred on the outside. Inside was cooked to perfection, but the outside was actually crunchy with burnt marinade. I'm chalking it up to an off night.

Only the service keeps this place from being a five star rating. The filet mignon was absolutely phenomenal!! As were the clams casino. If you love a good fillet mignon as much as I do you can deal with the service. We were seated right away...no water...nothing actually, until we got up and walked over to the servers who were standing together and asked for service. Definitely need to specify with your drinks as well. I asked for a gin and tonic. The server walked away without asking what kind of gin and I got less than Beefeater. But again, THE STEAK...PHENOMIMAL!!!!

Walk in and step back in time, in a good way. Waitress couldn't have been nicer. The best broiled seafood platter I have had in years. My wife and a friend each had steak and said the same.

This the best NY Shell Steak I have ever had. The portion was large and it was delicious and tender. It came with a salad and baked potato and I had 2 meals out it. Definitely worth the trip.

It's definitely not as good as it was. The baked clams had no clam in it and had mushrooms disguised as clams. The salad was all weeds with no lettuce. The steak was good like I remember but I don't think I will go back

Dinner for two on a Friday around 530. Seated immediately. In the room across from the bar tables are sort of close together. Like the mother ship, Elbow Room. Hostess handed us the menu, took our drink order and returned within a couple minutes Waitress came a couple minutes later and we ordered our appetizers. Bowl of lobster bisque and raw clams. Both were very good. Claims were sand free and chilled. Waitress took our entree orders. Marinated porter house with house salad and baked potato, cheeseburger with fries Steak was prepared exactly as I requested. Hamburger was as well. Overall a good experience. Waitress was pleasant, she got everything right and promptly served. There must be a very relaxed dress code, if any. Saw a guy at a table wearing a tank top. In March, really???? Curb parking out front, and if you like a life challenge, municipal lot in rear. Not cheap, but worth it. Good service and food. Definitely would return.

Waitresses were very friendly.... but steak was horrible ask for well done not burnt. N I mean charcoal burnt and that is what it tasted like... they famous steak .. wow Appetizers were good ...

So this is a nice restaurant located in downtown Riverhead that accepts credit cards as payment. They offer a full bar and what appears to be two dining area's, with ample seating for small to midsize groups. They even have tables and chairs on the exterior, for outdoor dining. They have an ATM, multiple TV's, separate restrooms for men and women, and they play Quick Draw. About 8 beers on tap and a fairly large and diverse menu to prick from. Dessert wasn't listed in the menu or on the daily special, but they do have it if you ask.

Amazing steak!! Get it marinated!! Clam chowder was incredible, even the chicken fingers were incredibly tasty. Get something fried, deep fryer must be sparkling clean, I'm super picky with fried food and I know this was fresh, clean oil. Not greasy or soggy. Yum, yum, yum!! Our waitress, Katrina was sweet, and really knew her stuff! Can't wait to go back!!

Never again. Was there the other night. Service was horrible. Asked twice within one minute if we were ready to order. We told both we need another couple of minutes. No one comes back for nearly 15 minutes. When the food came, it basically dumped on the table, here, eat it. In between serving our salads a salad wad taken to a second table before the waitress dropped the second salad on our table. When the main course was served it was wrong. A baked sweet potato was ordered but we had mashed potatoes on the plate. The porterhouse was under cooked on one side and over cooked on the other. The meat was also very tough.

Wow! this place doesn't care. Lol! not even kidding. They don't need your money. They are still riding coattails. This place needs john taffer and bar rescue so bad but no one here cares so it wouldn't even help. Ok so after dinner we thoroughly understood what's up. Food was good. Worth the bs. Tip your waitress.

We just had dinner here tonight and let me tell you this place is fantastic. I don't understand why it isn't 5 starts on everyone's reviews but maybe they don't know good food when it hits them in the face! We got a bunch of apps that included fried pickles, wings and oysters and they were all excellent. The oysters were bangin and so fresh! For dinner I had to get the marinated porterhouse and I was so damn good! The staff was super friendly and inviting. If you want good food this is the place you need to go to. I will be coming back here very soon. A+++ Amazing!

My experience today with cliff's rendezvous . Was calling them up to place a to go order - only for the waitress to forget I was on the phone waiting - 20 mins they hung up the phone ! We used to come to this place a LOT PRIOR TO COVID - Today , the baked clams were some where in a dark grey gooey weird consistency, gross! The two porterhouse steaks marinated were tough, sinewy, and not fully marinated - they had no flavor - they were horrible - over $100.00 dollars for this? You need a new waitstaff- you need a new bartender - you need a new meat buyer ! That was the most disgusting meal I've had EVER ! I won't be back - if steak is your feature? It should be the best! Don't offer baked clams if you can't make them delicious ! Very disappointing

The marinated steak is hands down one of the most delicious pieces of meat I've eaten. The portions are just right for the price. Would visit again

Warm Friendly atmosphere as u enter, bartender jeff makes u feel like your someone special, even though u may only see him every few months or so, food is always consistent and delicious, waitstaff also very friendly and attentive, when in riverhead its a must for lunch or dinner , try the Marinated Porterhouse and surf and Turf
