"This great little restaurant in North Miami is quite easy to spot thanks to an exterior that sports the unmistakable green and yellow of the Jamaican flag. And as you can probably guess, they do Jamaican food here. It’s all really solid, and Cliff’s should be on your radar for jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, oxtail, and more. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings" - Ryan Pfeffer

"Jerk Chicken This month I’m researching a new jerk chicken guide, and one of the first places I hit up was Cliff’s in North Miami. It’s a small Jamaican restaurant that serves a lot of classic dishes - but their jerk chicken (as you can probably infer from its inclusion here) will absolutely be making our guide to Miami’s best jerk chicken. Sorry, we didn’t happen to get a picture of this before we inhaled it. You’ll have to wait for the guide to see it in all its glory." - ryan pfeffer, carlos c olaechea

And as you can probably guess, they do Jamaican food here, and that includes jerk chicken. It’s a really delicious version, served with a big pile of rice and beans and plantains. It's not as spicy as some of the ones on this guide, but Cliff’s should still be on your radar for jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, oxtail, and more." - ryan pfeffer

Always drive by but today I Stopped for lunch and got curry goat medium size and the portion was good I couldnt eat it all at once. It was full of flavor and tasted fresh. I also had their pine and ginger drink which was amazing so refreshing. I can’t wait to go back

I was in town for Memorial Day weekend 2025 attending the Best of the Best Music Festival. This restaurant was at the festival. I waited in line for 2.5 hours to try their food. Yes, the festival was very crowed, but to wait for this long only to receive very small portions of food was very disappointing. They also ran out of certain food items. They should have notified the infinity line of people when they had sold out of specific food items. I paid $55 total for jerk pork and oxtails. The food was NOT worth the money spent. The services wasn't great either. Please do better at the next festival.

Google
Omg the breakfast at this place is amazing, we drove there 3 times out of our vacation just to have their food. Would recommend eating from here

I need you to understand how I APPRECIATE this restaurant!! I had to plan a surprise party for my team (Green Essence) and I’m not savvy when it comes to planning parties and let me tell you how AMAZING the food was, the professionalism, the friendliness of the staff when I walked in, I am so appreciative of this restaurant and it’s team. Thank you!

Google
Ordered over phone and was told 20 but took about 40 minutes!! Medium oxtail and load of rice that is just not needed. Makes the tray heavy but not from oxtails! I asked for extra gravy on rice but it was dry as the Sahara! Cabbage was bland. Plantains were good. Did not eat it all being that it was mostly rice!. And lastly the attitude of the servers were not welcoming at all! No hello welcome to only stares

Google
It’s a solid no for me. The little sauce taste like salt water with browning. Jerk chicken and jerk pork were definitely leftover from the day(s) before. Beef soup need to be cook more. This place is actually terrible and I was so embarrassed to have taken someone here… never again. There’s a lot more I can say, but I’ll keep it at this. So many other options to go to.

Google
Great food was hot and fresh considering how late it was. Watched the soccer game with my family at the bar had amazing service food time.

Lovely Examar

Google
Food is really old. Oxtails are chewy, the rice not cook properly and super mushy in some part. I completely threw up the few chews that I took. First time eating here. Terrible. Look how old the dumpling look the plantains are not fresh at all.

Nalda F.

Yelp
The price are reasonable and the food is worth the price it's best to order ahead of time but besides that I would recommend

Yelp
OMG!! THEY NOT IN THIS KITCHEN PLAYING AROUND!! me any my cousins chose our first annual cousin trip to Miami and we stopped at the liquor store then cliffs! Best decision we've made!! The jerk chicken and rice & peas is hella good but the plantains?? Go crazy! We will definitely be back before we leave + the vibes felt very homey and everyone was so nice.

Shanice G.

Yelp
Leftover and microwaved. "Jerk Sauce" taste like water, salt & browning. Not pictured is the jerk chicken which look like they cut up to heat the inside on a skillet. Disappointing. Too many better jamaican spots around.

Elisa R.

Yelp
Cliff's is AMAZING! One of the best Jamaican eats I've had. This place is underrated and needs more love. The oxtails will have your mouth watering and the portion is a great size! The jerk chicken is delicious and rich in flavor while falling off the bone. If you like Jamaican food in Miami, cliffs is where you need to go!

Marv P.

Yelp
Real Jamaican cuisine with authentic Jamaican flavors! Loved every bite, we ordered the jerk pork which was juice flavorful spicy and delicious. If you happen to catch the lunch special during the week, you'll be getting a good amount of food at a reasonable price! The establishment itself is a small hole in the wall, has a few seats available but it's mainly take out. I do think the lady in the front should be a little nicer especially when it's not a regular, kindness goes a long way. But over all the food was amazing

Yelp
One of the tastiest and best quick meals I've had recently. My boy friend and I ordered a late night dinner after we drove to Miami over the weekend. We had the Jerk chicken, rice and peas plate which was served with sautéed cabbage and cooked plantains. The jerk chicken was juicy, smoky, perfectly blackened, extremely tasty and great quantity of meat for 1 portion that served 2 hungry tired souls. The rice and black beans combo was quite filling, flavourful and yummy. We devoured the meal instantly. Am craving for it again while am typing this review thousands of miles away. We ordered DoorDash so cannot comment on the service or ambiance.

Loraena J.

Yelp
Salty as ever. If there is such a thing as overseasoned, that too. Mushy cabbage. Rice and peas, no. Its- A lot of rice and a few red kidney beans in there. Possibly a bad night here but a huge waste of money. Very disappointed about it. Never again, sorry...

Yelp
I love Jamaican food so much and this hits the spot. Food is great. I've had the jerk chicken and pork so far and it's always amazing. I had the jerk chicken lunch special and they hooked it up. People were nice as well. Love cliffs.

Laila K.

Yelp
I ordered an oxtail dinner the oxtail was good the rice was over cooked. The plantains were okay I'm just a bit down about my rice. Maybe I'll try again earlier in the day.

Ashley P.

Yelp
All my life, I've been passing by this restaurant, and today was the day that I decided to try it... since, it was recommended by a friend. We ordered the brown stew chicken (lunch) and it came with a drink on the side and oxtail dinner and quite frankly we did not enjoy it. It was just not up to our standards per say. The lemonade tasted sour to me.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Food is great! Authentic Yardy cuisine! Not much to look at and not a place you eat in, I mean you could if you want, but the food is worth it

Christina S.

Yelp
Ordered this for Delivery after a long day on the ocean and boy did it hit the spot. These days I am always craving chicken with peas and rice so when I was scrolling through my delivery options and saw Jerk Chicken I was sold. Very quick preparation and delivery. Very generous portion as you can see from the photo! The chicken was delicious; probably a half bird I think. Super flavorful; and that sauce that came with it was great! A nice little burst of heat. Peas and rice were delicious probably made the right way with coconut milk. Especially the bites where that yummy sauce had leaked through! Amazing! I would totally come back here and would love to actually have the time and energy to dine in and get the full experience! But I have no regrets and enjoyed a wonderful meal!

Jenn M.

Yelp
I heard friends talk about this restaurant; however, the food wasn't good at all. Not flavourful, just overall bad. I ordered from them online, which wasn't great, so I decided to give them another try and went in to order. The jerk chicken was just hot, not flavourful, just hot, and the rice was dry and just wrong. The sauce was watery and seemed like a lot of spice, don't get me wrong, I love jerk chicken. And you are supposed to taste it in the meat, but this wasn't the case. It was just bad and not good at all. There's easy parking out front if you want to drop in for a quick pick-up. But it's also located on a busy street.

China C.

Yelp
Late night food. Food was beyond delicious. Full of authentic flavors. The woman here is awesome. I called to tell her I'm on my way and she waited for me. I ordered jerk chicken and forget to ask for oxtail gravy over my rice but they did that already. Was so happy with the flavors and they pack a big portion ! You can eat this twice. Best thing is it wasn't over priced. Please come try here

Lee P.

Yelp
What can I say.... a lot of GOOOD THINGS about Cliff's -- and please read. I originally went to another Jamaican restaurant and the folk there did not know anything about customer service BUT I kept searching and found Cliff's Restaurant & Catering. What a 360!! Great fresh food, great customer service, big portions... I really recommend Cliff's and I'm glad I found this location. Make sure to try them out -- and I promise, you won't be disappointed. I had Jerk Chicken, with cabbage, rice and peas, plantains, and a lemonade. I'll be back!!!!!! Reasonably priced as well.

Philippe M.

Yelp
You have to look hard for it but you'll be glad you found it. Clean place, friendly family staff and welcoming prices, a plus for the era we live in. I got a curry chicken lunch special which included a hefty portion of chicken, white rice, steamed vegetables and plantain with a fresh lemonade for $5.95. Same price and deal for the jerk chicken. Both were delicious. They also have a badass sound system which I'm sure plays reggae well into the night when they have events. Amazing place I'm very glad to have found.

Ksby S.

Yelp
Food is ok, especially if it's a lunch special. However, if you like giving business to rude people, go ahead! You can go in with a smile, be friendly, and sweet and the owner lady will look at you, barely speak back, and over all acts as if you're a bother outside of hanging over your stuff... I get you want my money, just like I want your food..but I'll go the the other location before I ever deal with anyone's stank attitude for no reason

George O.

Yelp
Being born and raised in Jamaica and having a big family of cooks. I'm very particular with eating out especially at places that claim to serve Jamaican food. Let's say this place is forever on my list as my go to spot for some real yaaaaddd food. Weh me seh me nyammm eve ting not even a rice kernel lef. lol Will def be coming here again.

Marvin F.

Yelp
Lowkey The Beat Bbq & Jerk Qxtail Gravy On The Rice Chef Kiss don't mind if they don't pick up the phone their jammin it's cool

Wilfredo V.

Yelp
The food is great ... oxtail is my favorite ..I alway get me a red strip while i wait for my order..

Efrain M.

Yelp
I've only ever had their lunch specials, it's an unbeatable deal for this area and food. The food has never let me down. The ambiance is certainly questionable as this is not a "dine in" kind of spot. It certainly has a hole in the wall restaurant vibe. Service is generally on the slower side, but you're really not coming here for fast service. I encourage anyone to order ahead of time on the phone and then pick up. Parking can be a bit of a mess as people normally lock each other in, but normally a simple request of someone to move their car does the job.

Mike J.

Yelp
Man the chicken taste like it been sitting for 4 hours rubbery and bad taste I tried to give them another never again will I step foot in there than we call to tell them the problem they hang up 0/10 for me I would give them a 1 but they hung up back customer service

Jennifer W.

Yelp
great food and fast service no complain being visiting for many years off and on every one there is very nice and polite I would recommend to anyone that like Jamaica Food

Lee Lee A.

Yelp
Food looked good. I got oxtails (large) peas n rice( no seasoning) cabbage sweet plantains with A red velvet cake. The worst $30 I spent the food was nasty and had no taste. I originally went to Donnas and they were sold out but I should've just for something else to eat I'm big mad. This place fell off BIG TIME

Erica L.

Yelp
Found some kind of nasty waxy paper in my food after I ate more than half. I feel sick. Don't know if it's all in my head or if whatever it was physically made me ill. This is the time of Covid. Hygiene of a restaurant should be 1000% better, and it's not. I took the food back and they reimbursed me. But what bothered me is that there were 2 other customers there and the staff were whispering so as to not let the other customers know that I was returning contaminated food. And they continued to serve food without checking how much was contaminated. And they initially tried to keep the $1 tip I gave when I initially bought. Even though I did pickup, I still tipped because I know Resturants are struggling these times. But it goes to show you that restaurant don't really care about what they do with your food.

Johana F.

Yelp
My favorite place to get jerk pork. The portions are huge and it taste great even the day after. I definitely rly drive from far away for the pork.

Badd G.

Yelp
I ordered this oxtail plate on Uber eats where the plate alone is $19. First time customer. The woman I spoke to at the restaurant was nice but I asked her "how is a oxtail plate $19?" She explained it's $14.95 if I walk in but I didn't have that option. I'm Bahamian so that just seems a little pricey than what I'm use to. I won't bash the food but for the price...it's mediocre. When I say NO SEASONING baby....NONE. I had to literally season my cabbage AND oxtail, which should always have a depth in flavor. Not to mention they gave me TWO pieces of plantain for a $19 plate :) two pieces....however, once I stopped and seasoned my plate, it was pretty good. AND even though the oxtail was cooked bland, it fell off the bone, I give them that. Overall, I think I'll past next time.

Patty B.

Yelp
This is my first time I ordered takeout and was horrified on how small the parking was for the restaurant. Only parking enough for five or six cars so I had to park on the sidewalk and stressed about picking up my to go order I'm not a big fan of oxtail and this was a special request for a friend of mine I will bring to her, upstate. I have no idea what the food tastes like. If you can't fit into the parking, bring a shoehorn, a crowbar, or the KY jelly. Not a big fan of public transportation

Nadly P.

Yelp
From word of mouth, I heard from a relative that Cliff's restaurant was the go to place for authentic Jamaican food. I've been to a few spots here in Miami and I have to say that this may very well be my new spot for Jamaican/island food. We ordered the Jerk Pork dinner which included jerk pork, brown rice and beans, cabbage, and jerk sauce. The service was speedy and the wait time was less than 10 min. So, fast forward, got home and let me tell you, the food was plentiful and most importantly delicious!!! I have been wanting jerk pork for awhile now and I am so happy that I came here. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and can't wait to return and try some of the other menu items. 5 starts easily!

Chris C.

Yelp
Great little Jamaican spot to get food. Always flavorful and good portioning. A variety of juices to choose from. Soups are always delicious and on Saturdays they have Mannish Water. Great pricing on lunch specials from 11am to 3pm. You can get jerk chicken rice and peas for under $10 or even curry. Slices of cake is also available. If you have diet restrictions you can ask to substitute the rice and peas for steamed vegetables. It's a small place that can get busy so at times you have to be patient. Construction in the area makes it hard to park. The food makes up for it all. Cliffs food is great on any day at any time

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Ordered delivery today for lunch and all I can say is WOW! Holy s*** this is some delicious food. The portion is huge, came hot and fresh. I got the jerk chicken. *chefs kiss* I hope to come by and visit the restaurant soon. Thank you Cliff!

Loriann O.

Yelp
Great oxtails! The environment is a bit sketchy but the food mss as he's up for it all! Consistently delicious!

D Z.

Yelp
Delicious. Open late. Consistent. They even have great lunch specials. I prefer calling the restaurant and ordering food directly from them as pricing appears to be more expensive on third party apps, plus this is a mom and pop shop so ordering and delivering dollars directly to them cuts out the middle man making pricing both better for the customer and the restaurant. I've been coming here for years. The curry goat is good, the oxtail is good, but the jerk pork hits in a way beyond this world. It takes me back to my childhood and I'm not even Jamaican. All in all, I highly recommend.

Briana W.

Yelp
Very good food. I've been to both lications. Great cutomer service in Miami. Poor customer service in hollywood. Never fails.

Kalidascope E.

Yelp
The food here was very good. Its a small spot, so I wanted to give them a chance. I wasn't disappointed. Plenty of food and didn't stiff me on the meat like some places by giving a lot of rice. Parking wasn't that great, but I will be back.

Fatimah A.

Yelp
I had a large brown stew chicken dinner and it was Great!!! The only thing is parking is terrible but that didn't take away from the service and great food.

Leslye B.

Yelp
The server/cashier was not friendly at all. Had about 4 peas in the rice and peas, oxtails were aight, the worse part was the dried out beed patties. The only thing that was good was the jerk chicken.

Thyme G.

Yelp
NEVER order the Curry Goat, UNLESS you prefer 80% bone 20% meat... After waiting an extra 20 minutes (with the female cook looking through the window w Chris Rock eyes to confirm that I was good and hungry, eager to finally eat) the EXPENSIVE large, I open the box and the greasy cook must've pocketed the meat off the goat bone. I literally had less than 2 ounces of goat meat- the rest fat and bone. So, don't get the goat. And if you see a chef with 80% eye Whites, looking greedy, well you've been warned.

Bil M.

Yelp
Best Jamaican restaurant in Miami. I come here all the time for lunch and the food is great everytime.

Manman G.

Yelp
The Oxtail was good & the whole meal was fantastic it just needed to be a little more seasoned but my overall first experience was great.

Siddy F.

Yelp
First time order on doordash & the food was no great & the oxtail $19 dollars for this small ass plate never again im better off going to Dutch pot where it's 14$

Nadia M.

Yelp
A genuine experience of culture and food. The flavors mix is surprisingly well and nothing is too excessive, the meat is cooked to a perfect texture. The location is a bit rundown but it only adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Would definitely look forward to travel back to Miami and eat here once more.

Pedro B.

Yelp
A hole in the wall ? Yes . Jerk pork on point . Jerk chicken on point . Rice and peas on point . I think don't have enough points ! This place is good ole food that will satisfy. Their large portions are one of the reasons that make this place so great with great flavors. Pick up or eat in . Real homey real food . Hope they dont ever change.

T B.

Yelp
Best authentic Jamaican food in North Miami! Escovich fish, curried goat, oxtail and breakfast menu is amazing

T K.

Yelp
Bad quality food & poor service. Used to be good but last few times food tasted stale. Would def not recomend at all. Better offer driving a little further to one of the Jamaican restaurantes by 183rd street & 7th avenue.

Eileen A.

Yelp
The food is amazing! I tried the jerk chicken and oxtail dinners and both were phenomenal. The food is well seasoned and they provide generous portions. The only thing I wish they had were Jamaican beef patties. That's seriously the only drawback with this place, aside from the long wait. I will be back!

Leah L.

Yelp
Had this for lunch today, Thought I'll give it another try. I'll just say Chef had to be in a good mood or this was a different chef. I went with Jerk Chicken Lunch Special , Tender, flavorful, good portions also comes with a free drink. Definitely, a place I'll return to .

Siana D.

Yelp
This is the best Jamaican food in Miami they had a stand at carnival and it's literally the best. I'm from Cleveland Ohio and the Jamaican food there is incomparable to this Jamaican spot. I've been to a few in Cleveland and Atlanta and so far there's still number one anyone traveling to Miami I RECOMMEND THIS TRY THE FIESTA BREAD!

Paul M.

Yelp
Having worked with a Jamaican, we were always on the search for good Jamaican curry in Miami. Having randomly located this place on Urbanspoon one day I decided to order some takeout. This place is definitely in a shadier side of town, and with much trepidation I parked my car on the side of the road and went inside. The restaurant was not very big, but pretty full inside. It was relatively early (7:00 PM), and you could tell that it was just starting to get full for a crazy night. We ordered the curried goat and the jerk chicken. The goat was spectacular - fall off the bone tender and deliciously spiced. The jerk chicken was equally as amazing although it was a bit on the very spicy side which I enjoy but others may not. Both came with rice and peas and a side. Perhaps the most incredible thing was the price. Both entrees were well under $10 each!! Great food at a great price...SCORE! Overall the food here is excellent, although I would probably stick to takeout
