Cloche - Review - Les Halles - Paris - The Infatuation

"This upscale brasserie in the 1st is all about wagyu, wagyu, and more wagyu. Beneath the clubby lighting, you’ll eat steak frites dripping in sake-infused pepper sauce, beef bourguignon reimagined as a pastry-wrapped Wellington, or thick burgers topped with slow-cooked onions evoking the soupe à l’oignon ostensibly invented just up the street. Save room for crêpes suzette with a crispy crème brûlée-esque topping, and eavesdrop on your neighbors to see if there’s an actual model alongside the crowds that look like they just rolled out of Fashion Week." - Emily Monaco

We really enjoyed our time at Cloche, so I was surprised to see some of the negative reviews on Google. We dined around 8pm and the restaurant was mostly empty, but by the time we left it was bustling - so seems like more of a later night vibe. For us, the food and service was outstanding. The leeks and the bass are both musts, they are saucy and flavorful and super unique to anything I've had. Thank you to the Cloche team!

We visited when the restaurant was quite empty, so the atmosphere felt a bit flat. On the positive side, the staff was attentive and welcoming, and service overall was smooth. We ordered the meat dish along with mozzarella sticks. While the mozzarella sticks were enjoyable, the meat unfortunately turned out drier than expected and lacked the tenderness we were hoping for. Given the reputation and the style of the place, we expected to be more impressed. It wasn’t a bad experience, but it didn’t fully live up to our expectations.

We went for lunch, and the place had a nice atmosphere. The food overall was delicious, though the burger could have been better—the bread-to-meat ratio was a bit off. Otherwise, the rest of the meal was quite enjoyable.

Google
very good food and service, the only thing was that there was not many people in the restaurant, it was quite empty

Service and food was 5/5 - they did an amazing job at putting a modern twist on a lot of traditional French dishes and the staff was very warm and friendly. This was the best restaurant we went to in Paris and the existing reviews do not do this restaurant justice.

Google
a funcy place and many fashion peeps, they were not a bit confused that canceled our appointment but rescheduled it. The cocktail was good and the food also but there are more exciting places in Paris for lunch or dinner.

We enjoyed a dinner on the 25th of December. The atmosphere was really nice, both music and lighting were set delightfully. The waiter was lovely and food made us happy.

During our visit to Paris, we decided to try our luck and visit this restaurant without a reservation, but unfortunately, we encountered disrespectful behavior from the hostess. Upon arrival, we noticed three empty tables, yet the hostess claimed that all the tables were reserved and there was no possibility of being seated. When we asked if it was worth waiting a few minutes to see if something became available, we were met with a cold and unprofessional response, as she firmly stated that she "knows her job" and there was no point in waiting. We went to a nearby pub for a drink and returned to the restaurant 45 minutes later, only to find that the same three tables were still empty. The experience left us so hurt and disappointed that we decided not to enter the restaurant again, even though the tables were available. This kind of attitude toward potential customers is regrettable and casts a shadow over the experience, especially in a city like Paris, where one would expect warm and welcoming service.
