The Best Soft Ice Cream In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Cloud Cups is a clear Fishtown standout. From the unconventional flavors—we love the mango chamoy and the banana pudding—to the anime action figures, everything inside this gelateria makes it one of the best dessert spots in the area. The flavors change weekly, but we can guarantee you’ll find something you like inside the small, cloud-print-covered shop. Open until 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends, it’s a no-brainer to line up for a few creamy scoops after dinner in the neighborhood." - candis mclean, alison kessler

On the Grid : Little Baby's Ice Cream

"If you’ve seen the commercial or their tricycles around town, then chances are your interest has already been piqued, but in case not – Little Baby’s HQ is the place to cool-off in the dead of summer or just to treat yourself any other time of the year. The quirky ice-creamery offers up some seriously high quality dairy (and non-dairy) treats in flavors running the gamut from “bourbon bourbon vanilla” to “earl grey sriracha.”" - The Heads of State

Where to Eat Ice Cream in Philly - Eater Philly

"Galen Thomas started building a loyal following for his gelato and sorbet with an ice cream cart in 2018. Now, in the former home of Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Cloud Cups has brought frozen treats back to the Fishtown shop next to Pizza Brain. The menu rotates weekly through flavors like red velvet cheesecake and Frosted Flakes, which you can also get as in ice cream float or a Cloudnini, aka an ice cream sandwich on fresh-baked pastry." - Sarah Maiellano, Dayna Evans

Google
By far the smoothest gelato I have had in a long time. I am a sorbet kinda gal, and they have this one flavor I literally am addicted too, it’s the pineapple ginger mint flavor. Idk what it is about that combination but it is to me the best flavor they have. I also really enjoy the soursop flavor as well. They also are going to be open year round which is nice so I don’t have to wait til spring.

Google
Looked all around Fishtown for strawberry ice cream before stumbling upon cloud cups. Almost left when I found out the strawberry was only in sorbet at the time. The owner let me try a sample and I'm glad he did because it was the best frozen dessert I've ever had. Highly highly recommend.

Google
Such a cute spot and great experience. Ordered the milk and cookies in a waffle cone and the fruity pebbles in a cup.

I’ve heard of the place and the story behind it but I finally decided to go today. Not other gelato place in the city compares to value for the price. I was shocked after being used to the tiny sizes from other places. It is incredibly accessible and very good. They will be seeing more from me

Google
Gelato was good, never seen a jelly donut ice cream before and really enjoyed it. the young woman who served us had no customer service skills, we got the gen z stare for sure. Does that make me sound old?

Okay me and my mom came from Jersey just to sightsee. And I remembered that I wanted to check this place out that sells gelato. So we went in and ordered. I got the raspberry and apricot I believe it was. But when I tasted it, it was nice and cold and creamy but I know gelato is a lot silkier and smoother. This was just a well crafted ice cream but it definitely wasn't 100% not in my opinion. And I really didn't taste the flavors I didn't taste any apricot no fruit flavors.

What a pleasant surprise we happened upon while walking the dog. Great flavors and friendly staff.

Google
CC is my favorite new dessert spot. The gelatos and sorbets are great, I’ve been a few times already and there’s always something new on the menu. You have to try the Frosted Flakes!

Yelp
Loved my experience at Cloud Cups and can't wait to go back. The Lemon Gelato tasted so fresh and we talked to the owner and he said he had lemons flown in from California (From his mom's garden!). Guava was really good too. I'll def be back!

Yelp
So many interesting flavors of gelato and sorbet. I have to admit that the fruit flavors of sorbet were really good. The Mango was ultimately the best (they definitely used fresh pulp). The next flavor for the sorbet would be the pina colada (it tasted very accurate). The gelato is typically my favorite but this didn't taste like gelato. Usually gelato is thick but this was more lighter (maybe that is why it is named cloud cups?). I had the cookies and creme gelato. I really liked the Oreos in it. I think it was really cool they offered a flight option (4 scoops).

Yelp
Had a taste for some dessert, so I took a ride to Cloud Cups located in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. The place was somewhat dingy looking. It needed to be brighter and cleaner to me. It wasn't filthy dirty, but it needed a bit more sprucing up. The young man behind the counter gave me a run down if all the flavors of the week. I decided to go with a scoop of Blood Orange and a scoop of Apple Juice with a waffle cone. The sorbet was very good, sweet, and smooth. Almost like a Philly water ice, with more consistency. I wished there were regular spoons instead of the tasting sample spoons. Also, it was very hot inside. The air was not on while I was inside. Although I like the creativity of the different flavors of the week and for the seasons, I am not sure this will be a place I will frequent often.

Yelp
New location that just opened last week. They have a cute little ice cream stand inside of pizza brain. From their Instagram it looks like they have rotating flavors so check their page to see what is available! I tried the blueberry mascarpone, Nutella, red velvet cheesecake and mango sherbet. Out of these my favorites were the Nutella and mango. Plenty of seating inside and some benches outside as well. Make sure to stop next door and grab a slice or pie!

Yelp
Good bye to old Baby's and say hello to Cloud Cups. This small business is shaking up the local ice cream / gelato scene! I would rank the quality of the flavor and the texture above Wecklerys and below Jenni's. The service is nothing but awesome and the vibes are great inside Pizza Brain. I had the pineapple grape which is more pineapple than grape but I think masterfully balances sweet and tart for a refreshing sorbet. If you want a mind boggling creamy and tart flavor - you need to get the limoncello! I have no idea how they pull it off without the creaminess cutting into the tartness. Well rounded indeed. The orange strawberry lemonade was also good but less bold in flavor than the other two so hard for me to compare. Get some pizza and order some scoops - isn't that the summer dream?

Yelp
Cloud Cups is a great addition to the neighborhood. They share space with Pizza brain but have their own entrance. We've stopped in a number of times since they've opened and there are always new flavors to try and I haven't had one I disliked yet. The portions are smaller than what you'll get someplace like Jeni's or Van Leeuwen but keep in mind it's gelato and not ice cream. Plus sometimes you don't want a massive cone overflowing with ice cream and just want a scoop of something cold and delicious to help beat the summer heat.

Yelp
In Jan 2023 I placed a delivery order for a case of gelato. I have yet to receive my order from Galen Thomas. I contacted him on 22 Feb 2023, 10 Apr 2023, 17 May 2023, 11 Jun 2023, and 03 July 2023. This does not include my contacts with other individuals regarding the product I paid for in full, including shipping. I requested a status on receiving my product from Galen Thomas again on 17 August 2023, and he claimed (paraphrase) I am an investor, his company is losing money and I am legally obligated to help him. (See photo below) He claimed as he did previously my order has been made and in his freezer. He is waiting on extra money to send it. I paid $246 dollars for UPS shipping in Jan 2023, including @225 dollars for a case of gelato. What happened to the money that I paid in January??? He requested that I stop with the messages about my gelato unless I am trying to help. I can only assume he wants more money. As I was contacted in October 2021 with an urgent request for $8000 dollars, which I did not provide as I made my financial obligation as an investor in Cloud Cups, LLC/ Galen Thomas in December 2020. I would like to note that I never received the legal documents. I contacted Galen Thomas as a customer and ordered a case of gelato for $225 and paid $246 for shipping. I am questioning his business practices, and beginning to think he grifted or scammed me for money. My issue is not with the quality of the product, but the business practices. I believe I have been more than patient with Galen Thomas. At this point I do want the gelato, I want a full refund of what I paid in January 2023.
