"Club de Ville, a noted Red River music venue and bar, known for rock music and general good vibes, opened in 1997 and suddenly closed in October 2013 when its lease abruptly ended due to more than $27,000 in back rent reportedly owed by owner Michael Terrazas. The venue’s iconic light-up crown signage was used in the now-closed Austin diner Holy Roller." - Nadia Chaudhury

I'm no bar hopper but Club Deville was alright. I think the inside area is lacking. Small bar, a few areas to sit, and just not much space. Outside, however is pretty cool to look at since there's a big rock wall that's lit pretty nicely. There's a stage and a good sized area to sit and have a drink.

I cool bar on Red River near Stubb's. The inside is dark and the bathrooms are a bit sketchy sometimes. But the outside faces a cool cliff wall and the patio seating is relaxed and numerous. But their hidden treasure are the fresh made margaritas. They use fresh lime juice (no yucky sweet and sour here). They don't really advertise that they make them and I think only a few of the bartenders make it, but when they do its delicious, tart and strong.

I liked Club de Ville before I had ever been inside. The old brick, openness and generally mean appearance hold some kind of charm over the rest of the Red River drinking establishments. Though maybe not the best place to go to for live music (see: Stubbs), they have a decent and cheap selection of libations.

One of my fav places to hear live music. The rugged limestone aesthetics are pleasing to me visually, and the sound of the bands tickle my tiny ear drums. The sound person here literally rocks without blowing out said ear drums; and the drinks are inexpensive with fast friendly service.

Review Club Deville: Not my favorite club.... Too dark, I like to see the band and since I like to take band and club photos, this is usually the last place I visit. That was then. This is now: Cheer Up Charlies has moved into the old Club Deville and I think it is a very nice move.

Laid back vibe and often has music. Hanging with friends at Club DeVille was great. With the cliff wall behind the stage and dark, cozy interior; It is a uniquely Austin bar.

Pretty laid back place to go and have a drink. They have a lot of outdoor seating and when it gets really busy they even have a hidden bar on the South side of the building. We use to study for exams here... and drink.

Great place for an outdoor show, as long as The Melvins aren't playing at The Mohawk next door while someone's trying to do a small acoustic set.
