Watch the Bonus Episode of ‘Queer Eye’ Set in Yass, Australia | Eater

"A small, dowdy pub in Yass that gets a light-touch makeover from the Queer Eye team: interior designer Bobby Berk strips the space back to some of its original elements and brings in rustic furniture to create a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, while Antoni Porowski teaches the owner an approachable “Australian tapas” dish—brioche toast topped with sautéed mushrooms, cream cheese, and Vegemite. The short segment also shows local farmer George debuting a fresh new grooming look inside the revamped bar, with the overall transformation played for an upbeat, amusing feel rather than deep emotional drama." - Greg Morabito

We stopped in at this local pub in Yass after a long six-hour drive from Melbourne, as it was our stopover for the night. We were genuinely surprised, in the best way, by what we found. From the outside, it looked like your typical country pub, but out the back it opened up into a huge barn-style area that was absolutely stunning. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with a beautiful smoky fire that added a lovely touch on a chilly evening. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. It was exactly what we needed after a big day on the road. Definitely worth a visit if you are passing through :)

Wonderful experience at dinner tonight. The bar staff, Ben, was extremely personable. We made some lighthearted banter about his drink bottle and whether he has drunk enough water today. We had good fun with some jovial banter. It was a lovely winter evening in front of the fire.

My family and I just stopped here on the way home to Vic and had the best pub meal we’ve had in ages! Absolutely delicious steaks and burgers and kids meals were great! Staff were all so lovely too. This will be our halfway meal stop from here on out to our usual holiday destination 💕💕

We were passing through town and tried the Club House for dinner. Ate the Outlaw chicken and Scotch fillet steak. Both were awesome. Great food. Highly recommended.

5 stars for the food. The T bone and garlic prawns was perfect. The prices are up there, $15 for a pint of Guinness is up there (though happy they had it) Rooms are super basic not even a TV and the bathrooms could do with a makeover.

Room was clean and tidy *enough*, except for the gaps in the window where the air-conditioning was (plenty of room for spiders and bugs to get in, eek). Beds comfy, good air-conditioning, nice clean (or clean-looking, at least) bedding. Shared bathroom was disgusting. Shower walls made of unsealed wood, perfect for moisture to soak in, as evidenced by the masses of black mold growing up the walls. Open windows for bugs to get in. Shared kitchenette was messy, appliances filthy, dirty dishes in the sink that looked days old (this is the fault of the guests, rather than the hotel staff, but still gross).

Rented a twin room. $99. Light from the hall came straight through the gap around the room door (see attached photo), as did noise in the hall. Both were annoying. The bathroom was at the other end of the building, 50m from my room. There was A/C but it was very noisy (rattling). There was no in-room kettle, no TV and no rubbish bin. Apart from the two beds there was a side table, a lamp and a chair. The beds were well made with good linen and pillows but tired mattresses. There was a small, untidy kitchenette and large "meeting room" with a TV available. At some point in the night someone turned off the hall lights but this also killed power to the power point leaving my CPAP (medical device) non functioning and my phone uncharged.

New Year's Eve Dinner meal was delicious we had a group of seven Adults who all stated there meals were beautiful and all huge. The staff were friendly and the customer service was fantastic very fast and efficient although there were quite a few meals to be made and served. Well done we will return. Yass in general your town has been a delight we felt very welcomed and safe within the community well done. Your pub is beautiful especially your outdoor beer garden area. Thank you.
