"Parked on the patio of Spring Street Bar in the First Ward is Clutch City Grill, a small-but-mighty food truck that mostly serves tacos, but with a few tricks up its sleeve. There are three taco options, including a carne asada, a pollo asado, and a vegan. But the real stunner is the Clutch Burger, in which two huge, tender brisket and chuck patties are stacked on top of each other and melted together with two layers of cheese. You do have to unhinge your jaw a little to take a bite of this behemoth, but the pillowy buns provide ample comfort. Importantly, the burger can also get turned into a chopped cheese, where the burger meat gets minced with hot peppers and sweet caramelized onions, filling any empty space with a mountain of melted cheese. And after a few rounds of drinks at the bar, we can’t think of a better place to be than parked than on a picnic bench in front of Clutch City, chopped cheese in hand. And maybe a taco platter, too. photo credit: Liz Silva Food Rundown photo credit: Liz Silva 3 Taco Plate Loaded with crisp onions, cilantro, and sprinkled with cheese, the tacos here are piled with tender meat with just the right kick. If you need more heat, drizzle some spicy diablita sauce over your tacos. photo credit: Liz Silva Pollo Mulitas The pollo mulitas are filled with warm shredded chicken and gooey cheese, and stuffed inside a corn tortilla. The tender flour tortillas are melted onto the chicken and provide a cheese pull that should be documented in record books. photo credit: Liz Silva Clutch Burger The double patty smashburger is covered in a fiery clutch sauce and melted cheese. The patties are encased in a toasty, buttery bun that doesn’t get soggy supporting this mammoth burger. photo credit: Liz Silva Chopped Cheese Clutch City Grill has a take on the chopped cheese, a sandwich full of minced burger meat, jalepeños, onions, and melted cheese. All of the flavor from the clutch burger can be found in the chopped cheese, plus jalapenos pack the sandwich with extra spice. Add an order of toasted hashbrowns to complete your meal." - Gianni Greene

It’s was a nice atmosphere sucks you have to pay $10 for parking and then after an hour they come to your table and tell you your time is up … And on the checks they charge 20% gratuity automatic on every transaction

As we pulled into the parking lot we were greeted by a parking attendant who charged us $10 to park for self parking. We had reservations and were seated promptly our waiter Sadie was amazing. She had over five tables and managed to still provide outstanding customer service and personality Not to mention her make up was so cute. The food was OK it was fresh and it came out in a reasonable amount of time. The waffle was plain but the burger was 10/10! The music was great and the atmosphere was a vibe. We didn’t like that we had to pay for parking. Overall a good experience I will come back.

Mama's Pie House

Google
Amanda is very attentive. She makes sure you’re taken care of. I didn’t have to wait or ask for anything. The DJ is great and they have drummers for a little added razzle dazzle ✨ the mimosas were hitting!

Whether you are from here or out of town- I would not have it on my itinerary. 1st- it's 20 dollar parking. Unless you're planning to be there for hours, it's not worth it. 2nd- their attire policy is weird. I would try to get confirmation before you go since you cannot wear certain shoes but you can wear sandals. It was pretty hot whether you sat inside or out since they do not have a closed building. We were served pretty quickly but at this point, we weren't very excited to try anything. The drinks come in plastic over glass cups which could be understandable but came across as cheap. The drinks themselves were okay in taste and subpar in alcohol ratio. We had a spicy pineapple and a Paloma. The chicken and waffles tasted good but again- pretty standard wherever you go. It was not something I would go to it you're visiting as the vibe they were going for is one you can find done better in your city. They did have good music though.

I was nervous reading all of the other reviews. But they were actually very accommodating to our large party 14 turned to 20 and no issues on dress code. We did go on a Saturday early brunch so I'm not sure if that's different for a night crowd. But the food was really good, the patron tree was good, the prices were reasonable. We didn't have a wait because we arrived a little after 11 when they opened but as we were leaving I heard there was a 2 hour wait. I don't have any complaints outside of parking $20 but that was to be expected for the location.

Google
Came for reserved birthday brunch Sunday morning. Was seated at one table, then had to be moved to larger table because number of guests wasn't communicated to waitress. Waitress did not come to table to check on us. We had to get her attention each time. Extra items were added to tab, which she corrected.

Google
We sat at the bar for brunch, which was delicious. Music was on point with a live atmosphere. The only problem is that the service sucks. As we were placing our, she rudely walked away and began clearing another area of the bar (not too far but not close enough to here us either). Once she was done cleaning, she resumed taking our order. From there, we had to keep flagging our bartender/waitress down. If gratuity wasn't already included, she would not have received a damn cent from me.

Google
There is a $10 parking fee. We went on a Sunday around 11:30am, waitress told us we only have an hour and a half to dine because they have to get the wait list ppl in. It would be extended if you get a bottle service. Mimosa or tequila tower not included. The food was really good. On point. Do was good and on point as well I suppose. They do not split bills. However, we did stay over the time we said we have and they didn't put us out. Idk if they would've if the situation had changed. Otherwise I would still visit again more prepared. Definitely encourage you to make a reservation if you can. Reservations are only for 8 ppl and up.

Hogg H.

Yelp
Good good and service i would recommend this establishment to others. We having a men's day this Sunday

Brittany L.

Yelp
Found Clutch Bar through Tiktok while searching for a Sunday Brunch spot. Clutch was highly recommended...there is lot parking for $10 which is okay if spots are available. If not find another lot and pay, I wouldnt take a chance parking on the street. My friend and I witnessed multiple cars getting ticketed. We were seated immediately. The hostess let us know tables are 1 hour and a half time limit. Our waiter kaykay was so friendly and took our orders right away...for food my friend and I got the chicken and waffle. The breading on the chicken was very flavorful and crunchy. Food was good overall... The DJ was fire. Only confusing thing about this place was the drummers playing throughout the bar over the DJ's music....it was honestly too loud and in my opinion unnecessary. It took away from the great music to me.

Yelp
Came for brunch with some friends on a Saturday. They have Mimosa towers available if you're into that. It's definitely more of a bar than a food place. But we had some decent food. I had the breakfast burrito. My friend had some waffles and the avocado toast. And then a variety of other breakfast foods. Overall they were decent. The server was nice. Food didn't take super long. Only downside is they do pay to park and there is no free parking anywhere near by and the parking is 10$ kind of a rip off.

Alanna L.

Yelp
We were from out of town and came here at 11 when they opened from the airport. The host was nice. We had reservations. If you're not a smoker then this may not be for you. They allow anyone to smoke on the deck and even inside if the smoke flows in the direction of the outside seating. The food was average. The wings tasted pretty-breaded, 7-11 chicken wings. A lot of breading and fat. And they super small. The potatoes that came with the clutch bowl were delicious. The potatoes that came with other meals tasted like frozen potatoes. The drinks were strong and reasonably priced. The DO NOT split check. They itemize the check, but that's it. The hookah is contracted out not served by the restaurant. Age group was young twenty's to mid/late 40's. Lots of college students. .

Thomas B.

Yelp
The food was all good we got the flavored wings BBQ And Mild buffalo and the waffles were soft and crispy

Trea S.

Yelp
This place was super cute. We got here at 11:15am (they open 11am) and we walked in and decided to sit at the bar. This was a great idea because we were able to watch the tvs and people watch at the same time. The music was perfect! Wasn't too loud and it had me jamming all through my meal. Now to the food and service... since we sat at the bar, we were served by the bartender and she was so sweet! Very attentive to when our waters got low and always willing to help! The food was Great!! I ordered the clutch bowl and a side of pancakes and wasn't disappointed! All in all, I would love to come back again!

Lon D.

Yelp
This place was ok for a weekday brunch. Food wasn't that great but the drinks and vibes were nice. Hookah was cool as well. Service was nice, our waiter was cool. The dj was bomb though!

Destiny F.

Yelp
I recently visited Clutch for BRUNCH! Finally because this place is known for its bustling atmosphere. I started my visit with a fantastic "good morning" brunch cocktail that truly impressed me. The drinks here are notably strong, and I enjoyed that aspect. As for the food, it was decent. The waffles from the breakfast board were absolutely delicious, and the chicken wings were a real treat. The youthful and trendy vibe of the place, along with the friendly servers who managed to provide great service despite their attire, made for a unique experience. It's like a nightclub during breakfast hours! I'm definitely planning to return, especially with a larger group. Despite some negative reviews, my personal experience here was quite enjoyable.

Brittany L.

Yelp
They charge $20 for gratuity per person during happy hour ..... so the food ended up being regular price

Christina D.

Yelp
New to Houston area and this was my first brunch and I had a great time! The music was on point! The DJ The bartender made me a delicious passionfruit drink that she said she had never made and it was so good! I plan to go back soon!

Brea W.

Yelp
I love everything about this place. The food is good. They play great music, no problems with the drinks. Also the prices are fair. This place is a great vibe.

Yelp
Terrible bar. What kind of service and drinks if you can't be safe? Shooting at Clutch Bar, Nov 2022. https://abc13.com/amp/clutch-bar-shooting-washington-avenue-houton-woman-shot-in-leg/12427452/

Tyrone W.

Yelp
Terrible establishment. And as a preface and comparison, I was in New Orleans a week prior to visiting this place, and received much better service within similar establishments (shout out to Monday in NOLA). I also frequent numerous high profile restaurants/bars in NYC, so for me to take the actual time to leave a review, speaks volumes. Our group was visiting Houston for the weekend and was treated poorly by the staff, but mostly by the manager "Kevin"(if that is really his name), who did not honor our reservation and allowed walk ins to take the space that was supposed to be reserved for our large party, when we arrived to the establishment on time nonetheless. Kevin was not personable or approachable as a manager and had an attitude of his way or the highway, which is hilarious by the way. It's funny as their is already another one star google review highlighting the same manager. A Picture is attached from that particular review. We spent sometime going back and forth with "Kevin" but decided we weren't going to spend our money in a place that did not want us. We ended up finding a better establishment in the downtown area that accommodated our large party and we're hospitable, which is what I thought Houston was all about. Don't be fooled by what you see on social media. To the owner...if Kevin (an African American) is only allowed to keep his job to keep or limit a certain group of people away from the establishment (African Americans), then just say that and market it that way. You won't waste a lot of peoples time and energy, as I'm sure others don't want to be patrons of that kind of establishment anyway. FYI, this is not a new tactic and it's the oldest trick in the book, so please be upfront on who you want in your establishment. Service and selection in this place is definitely race related. If you're coming to Houston, don't waste your time with this place. Spend your money elsewhere as we did. I promise that you aren't missing out on anything, look at the reviews. If you're from Houston, why is this place still open and operating???

Quisha B.

Yelp
My first time here (a native) and its legit. I came thru brunch hours, my server was Aliyah, and she's AMAZING. She guided us, gave honest opinions about items on the menu, and her customer service is TOP TIER. Make sure y'all f w my girl!! Dope place in general.

Aguirre S.

Yelp
Had my birthday party here during Brunch and our waitress Ashley was such a doll! she was very attentive and always came to our table to make sure we're OK. if you have your party here make sure to ask her to be your waitress you will not be disappointed!!

Akilah D.

Yelp
If you come as a group, they will only bill one card... just a heads up. The food was good but a little pricey for the mimosa towers. I believe they were $55 for the tower. The music was great though. Oh side note, you will have to pay for parking. Make sure you have cash lol

Alex D.

Yelp
I fw the food, music was coo too. Service from Aliyah was 10/10. Bottle prices better than the other bars on the street. We will be back

Day D.

Yelp
Cool spot. Would bring family and friends here, depending on the day. Music diverse, u gone catch a vibe.

Jimmy M.

Yelp
Food is 10/10 !! This is definitely THE SPOT for brunch Music for everyone to enjoy Definitely coming back, Service is 10/10 as well no doubt.

Lucero P.

Yelp
We come from Puerto Rico and decided to stop by and check out Clutch great service and música

Juliet H.

Yelp
Ok, so here goes! Overall Rating 2.5. This speaks to the power of social media. Saw this bar on IG, and as it's in my neighborhood, I had to stop in! The hubs and I visited for brunch on Saturday. We skipped the $20 parking lot tax, (as a transplant, I can't get over that at local businesses, and I truly hate it) and found free street parking. Rant: You're taxing the parking lot that I'm entering to patronize your business. Is this a Beyoncé concert? Are we going to see the Rockets? Why am I paying event parking prices? I don't get it. But, with so many others in town running the same game, they can get away with it, huh?! I don't like it one bit. Florida would never! But, I digress. There was no wait as we arrived shortly after opening, we were quickly seated, and told to order at the bar. We put our order in, and it came out fairly quickly. I had the avocado toast w/ fried egg which had a unique setup, but once I broke the egg yolk, I could barely cut through it with the flimsy plastic fork and knife we were provided. (Seriously, y'all?!) The hubs had the chicken and waffles that left much to be desired. He said the chicken (patty) was fairly good, but the waffles tasted like they were prepackaged, microwaved, and he quickly stopped eating them. We ordered the $60 patron tower, I know (yes, I know) the upcharge was ridic, but I had to have it. Fortunately, we really enjoyed it and the pics are cute, so there you go! We'll gladly spend on food and drinks, not restaurant parking lots. The vibe and music were also great! But, if I'd spent $20 to park my car, and struggle over low-average food with a plastic fork and knife, I'd have been pissed. So overall, I would not return to eat (you know, fool me once...), but if I can park for free or feed a meter for an hour or two, have drinks, and catch a vibe-- count me in, maybe. Honestly, with SO many great brunch options in Houston with free parking, I can't commit.

Kennedy W.

Yelp
I was very hesitant about going to Clutch Bar after reading the reviews but I had a good time. As most other reviews stated, self-parking is $20 and although they have street parking, finding available spots are a gamble. I think charging that much is ridiculous, at least valet. Service was decent. One thing I absolutely loved was the avocado toast, it was so good! I added a side of bacon. I also got their version of a Moscow mule which was amazing. The food and drinks wowed me because I expected them to be as bad as the reviewers stated. I will say, my friend got chicken and waffles and said they tasted like frozen waffles and the chicken was just okay but very well seasoned. The price point was pretty good as well. The atmosphere was okay. We sat too close to the dj booth and unfortunately couldn't hear one another but I imagine that it would've been more conducive to socializing. I would return for the drinks but I'd get an Uber to avoid the parking shenanigans.

Ally S.

Yelp
First time in Houston & was recommended this place. Parking was kinda a pain so we paid the $20. We loved the food ! The Crown Peach Lemonade was so delicious. The lady serving us was very kind and helpful ! The security in there were very kind as well. The music was great, the set up of the whole place is actually very beautiful and such "a vibe." Maybe it's because when we came it wasn't too crowded? But overall, we loved our experience here. Thank you!

Yelp
As a connoisseur of culinary experiences, it is with deep regret that I recount my recent encounter with Clutch Houston, a restaurant purportedly renowned for its ambiance and cuisine. My expectations, however, were swiftly shattered upon arrival. In anticipation of a memorable family vacation, a reservation for 13 was meticulously arranged well in advance. Despite our punctuality, we were met with a disheartening revelation: our reserved table had been inexplicably forfeited to walk-in patrons. Manager Kevin's response, characterized by a dismissive demeanor and utter lack of accountability, only compounded our dismay. The audacity of the establishment to confirm our reservation, yet fail egregiously to honor it, speaks volumes to its disregard for patrons' time and expectations. Kevin's cavalier attitude, epitomized by his callous suggestion to "split up or leave," reflects a culture of indifference that permeates Clutch Houston.Beyond the inconvenience, this experience strikes at the core of hospitality, leaving an indelible mark on the collective memory of those present. It is regrettable that such a revered establishment could fall short of even the most basic expectations of service and professionalism. In light of this egregious misstep, I am compelled to caution fellow gastronomes against entrusting their dining experiences to Clutch Houston. Until fundamental improvements are enacted, it remains a regrettable stain on the culinary landscape of our beloved city.

Juan P.

Yelp
Food and service I'd say has always been good for a bar bro great but good . The ambiance is loud and a lot of people but expected nothing wild . The food is great I always enjoy ordering here but Clutch charges 20% gratuity on all tickets that's not cool I've bounced around other bars and they don't charge that, so with the charge on every tickets makes a drink go from 12 to about 14.50-$15 that's not worth it. I don't drink I just got for food but that will keep my away from clutch 20% naaa

Dr. Rachel C.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Disgusting!!!! I can't understand why anyone would recommend this place for food. I ordered chicken and waffles. I was presented with 4 small chicken wings (not full wings) and a cold waffle. It seriously tasted like cafeteria food. The host Dianna should not work in the service industry. Her failure to adhere to simply providing adequate seating was unprofessional. David (/promoter/manager) apologized for our experience and offered us a round of free drinks. He was pleasant and tried to correct the initial issues, however the entire experience already left a bad taste (literally) in our mouth

Desiree M.

Yelp
Visiting Houston for the first time and saw this place on Tik Tok soo we had to try it out. Aliyah was our server and she was AMAZING!! The avocado toast was so good!! Definitely coming back!!

Tia F.

Yelp
I live a few blocks away from this bar and the music gets so loud I can hear it in my house. I can't imagine how it would be possible to have a conversation there. They also have $20 "VIP Self-parking" in the surrounding parking lots - which is outrageous. And since a lot of people don't want to pay that, it means that we get to deal with drunk people parking in the neighborhood instead. On my street last night there was a group heading back to their car and one of them started using a stop sign as strip pole... I hate this place.

Nisha D.

Yelp
I enjoyed myself at clutch. Thanks Leticia! Best spot in Houston Tx. Me and my girls had a damn good time.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Came to the clutch bar for a brunch, great vibes, good food and our server Aliyah was nice and attentive and gave good suggestions!

Morrisa N.

Yelp
10/10 highly recommend, loved our waitress Aliyah! She was great and loved her vibe music was also good! Coming from Austin and this for sure would be a place I would come back too!

Janeth T.

Yelp
I'll be nice first. The food was good! I got the Avocado Toast. Comes with sunny side up egg, Avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, and feta cheese. My friend and I also got the 4 mini patron bottle tower. They were so good! Couldn't taste the alcohol. The service was BAD! We came to the host? And he legit did NOT acknowledge us. My friend GREETED HIM! and he said "Just go inside sit at the bar or table". My friend and I got a 2 seat table and this waitress past by us so many times and did not help us. I had to get out of my seat and tell the host "Do we have to go get a booth so we can order or what?" He replied with "Oh they haven't served you guys? Let me go to tell them I got you". Finally we got the servers attention (the one that kept PASSING BY US) when she greeted us she said "Sorry i didnt see you) like um no! You for sure did. We some how got a different server. She was really attentive.

Sha'Kayla S.

Yelp
I want to start off with the food. Everyone in our group (5 people) enjoyed their food. The service itself was fairly mediocre. I don't understand the $10 parking fee to come to your establishment and spend money with you. Secondly, I don't understand the timed eating as well as the one check per table then adding your own gratuity. The ambiance would have been great without the loud extra noise of the drummer. Mimosas also tasted like juice so little to no champagne. Lastly, an Arnold palmer is sweet tea and lemonade not sprite and lemonade. Instead of improvising to make a sale just let your customers know that you are out.

Natajsia G.

Yelp
This was the only restaurant able to accommodate our large group on short notice. We went for brunch. The space was very open and the music was so good! We ordered some mimosas to start off and who doesn't love mimosas? I ended up getting the chicken and waffles. The food was good, nothing too special. There was a lot of food on the the plate when it came out so I was able to take some home. We had a birthday we were celebrating so we were able to get the bottle girls to bring out sparkling bottles and they had confetti cannons that went off as we sang happy birthday so that was definitely a major highlight!

Raeeee C.

Yelp
The service is really great! It's a fun place to hang out! And the food is fantastic!

Eriona J.

Yelp
Food, music, and service was a 15/10!!!!! - YES you have a limit of 1.5 hours when seated but that didn't bother us because everything came out so fast :) will most definitely be returning

Thomaz C.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised how good the food and service was. Hookah was great place, coming from Atlanta. Definitely would come back here

Courtney P.

Yelp
The DJ at brunch on Fridays has the spot jumpin! The drinks are good, the food is good. The people are in a good mood and dancing! Even on a rainy day, you can go and enjoy.

Anya P.

Yelp
Val was the most amazing server! When you go ask for her!!!! She made sure my party of four was able to get a table despite not having a reservation!!!! Love her!

Joel G.

Yelp
Went for brunch for the first time. Food was good and vibes were great. Drinks never disappoint here.

Alicia A.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Clutch Bar and I will NOT be returning. My sister parked in the lot before the parking attendants even arrived and once they did show up they told her she still had to pay $20 for parking. Once again, I parked on the street for two hours for $2.20. We arrived at 10:50 AM on a Saturday and were the first group in line. They were supposed to open at 11:00 AM, but didn't unlock the door until 11:06 AM. We had to show ID and get our bags checked at the door. After choosing where we wanted to sit, we waited for the wait staff to greet us and bring us menus, but after 20 minutes, we still hadn't been greeted. My sister ended up having to get up and ask for menus. Finally, someone came to our table to tell us our waitress would be with us and the waitress showed up about 5 minutes after that. We placed our drink orders and were informed that there could only be one tab for our table of 4. ‍ We ordered the pineapple mimosa tower which was $50 and it wasn't strong AT ALL. We had to request disposable cups because the champagne flutes we received were not clean. We also had to ask for new straws because the ones we were given were dusty. I ordered French Toast and Chicken which was severely underwhelming. The chicken was tough and dry, but flavorful. The French toast was okay. There was a fly infestation this time around and we kept having to wave them away from our food. We were charged a 20% gratuity which the waitress did not deserve. Rating: /5

Maricruz M.

Yelp
Ask for Amanda, she's amazing gave us great service made sure all my girls were comfortable the whole time. Food was 10/10 she recommended us several things on the menu but I tried out the Chicken Quesadilla and it was super good ! Drinks were great & Music . I definitely will be back & be booking my section with Amanda

Almeda L.

Yelp
Self-parking on site - "$20"?!?!? Ridiculous!!!! And rude receptionists!!!!! Don't be fooled by how it looks... it's not worth the time!!!!

jennifer c.

Yelp
Great service from Bri and food was amazing 11/10. Dont miss out if youre in the area!

Ashley Y.

Yelp
I went on Saturday for a late brunch, and surprisingly had a really great experience. Sometimes I'm hesitant because places like this or other brunch spots, don't tend to have the best service, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found parking easily, was greeted at the door and taken to our seat right away. Our waitress came was in a good mood was kind, and patient, as soon as we placed our order, we received it in about 15 to 20 minutes. Which was a great amount of time the music was really good. The table next to us was also nice and our server came to check on his frequently to make sure that we had what we need. The food was delicious, the presentation was done very welland prices are absolutely reasonable. I do plan on going back.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
My first time here our server (Sayde) was so nice and was always checking up on our table

Diego F.

Yelp
I had a great time at clutch thank you to zaidy the food was good and drinks were great!

Carol C.

Yelp
the food, vibes and place was amazing but the waitress sucks thats the only problem. But they have amazing bartenders and hookah staff

Shantel K.

Yelp
Ambiance: Such a cute wall & swing area outside for photos and videos. The bathrooms however were filthy. Vibes: Music was good for brunch. The hookah was great, and they had a variety of flavors. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire place. Be careful when they start throwing confetti with the bottle service, it blows everywhere and some of it flew into my drink but I blocked my food in time. Service: Parking is self park, it cost $20 on a Sunday during brunch hours. The wait time could be an hour or longer, luckily we got there and people were leaving so we waited 15 minutes. The waitress was pretty good, our order was correct, she was attentive and gave recommendations. All in all great job. The Hookah attendant was a tad busy and it was a little hard to get their attention but once we got them we were okay. Food & Drinks: The drinks were all amazing - highly recommend !!! The frozen drinks were half melted when we got them but they were still good & that says a lot. The chicken was well seasoned but very thin, so there wasn't much meat. The waffles were fluffy and delicious, the pancakes were really dry, even with the syrup. The eggs were bland, the cheese was just thrown on top - definitely would not recommend. Side Note: For more photos and videos check out my foodie instagram @hike4foodies
