Ok, so here goes!
Overall Rating 2.5.
This speaks to the power of social media. Saw this bar on IG, and as it's in my neighborhood, I had to stop in!
The hubs and I visited for brunch on Saturday. We skipped the $20 parking lot tax, (as a transplant, I can't get over that at local businesses, and I truly hate it) and found free street parking.
Rant: You're taxing the parking lot that I'm entering to patronize your business. Is this a Beyoncé concert? Are we going to see the Rockets? Why am I paying event parking prices? I don't get it. But, with so many others in town running the same game, they can get away with it, huh?! I don't like it one bit. Florida would never! But, I digress.
There was no wait as we arrived shortly after opening, we were quickly seated, and told to order at the bar. We put our order in, and it came out fairly quickly. I had the avocado toast w/ fried egg which had a unique setup, but once I broke the egg yolk, I could barely cut through it with the flimsy plastic fork and knife we were provided. (Seriously, y'all?!) The hubs had the chicken and waffles that left much to be desired. He said the chicken (patty) was fairly good, but the waffles tasted like they were prepackaged, microwaved, and he quickly stopped eating them. We ordered the $60 patron tower, I know (yes, I know) the upcharge was ridic, but I had to have it. Fortunately, we really enjoyed it and the pics are cute, so there you go! We'll gladly spend on food and drinks, not restaurant parking lots.
The vibe and music were also great! But, if I'd spent $20 to park my car, and struggle over low-average food with a plastic fork and knife, I'd have been pissed.
So overall, I would not return to eat (you know, fool me once...), but if I can park for free or feed a meter for an hour or two, have drinks, and catch a vibe-- count me in, maybe.
Honestly, with SO many great brunch options in Houston with free parking, I can't commit.
