"The downtown location of this Portland specialty coffee chain is a regular study spot for Portland State University students, who populate the roaster’s two stories of seating and log on to the cafe’s Wi-Fi. Coava offers some of the city’s most consistently tasty roasts for those who like lots of citrus or fruit notes in their coffee; espresso drinks are a particularly smart move here. When you get hungry, the shop does offer some pastries and treats at the counter; for something more substantial, the Lebanese restaurant next door, Karam, offers a nice selection of meze, grilled meats, and shawarma." - Asia Alvarez

I ordered the honey latte and my friend got an iced coffee. The pastries all looked delicious we ended up choosing the blueberry poppyseed scone and the pistachio croissant! Both pastries were amazing but the pistachio croissant was AMAZING my friend said she will “have dreams of this croissant” and I believe her because it is THAT good. Isa was barista that gave us info about the amazing pastries! Coava has great coffee, great atmosphere, and nice people! We were able to park right on the street using the parking app it was only $8.40 to park for 5 hours. There is a lot of sitting space upstairs and a few places outside! We came here on our way out to Cannon beach, it’s the perfect spot on the way out because it’s just west of the city. I highly recommend making a stop here especially if you are going west!

Well established Portland specialty coffee roaster with everything dialed in! Freeze dried instant specialty coffee is great. This location is upscale and clean with lots of seating and meeting space uostairs. Small selection of excellent baked goods. The vegan coffee cake is worth it, even for those of us that typically shy away from the substitutes. Had a vanilla 'steamer' steamed milk that was made with real vanilla bean. Nice! Cortado was up there with the best.

Got to try Coava Coffee for the first the last month. The iced americano was exactly what I wanted - not too mild and has a strong taste without tasting bitter. The location I visited had an open and well-lit space, which helped it feel warm and welcoming.

Can’t go wrong with Coava for a cup of joe! Their blends are my personal choice for brewing coffee at home, too. This stuff is amazing, and ethically sourced to boot. I swear just grinding the beans wakes me up as much as the coffee itself— it’s so rich. This particular Coava installment is well lit, clean, and serviced by friendly, prompt professionals! My coffee was great. There’s seating on the second floor that has great lighting and is mighty chill as well. Good place to meet friends, read a book, or sit down and get some work done. No complaints whatsoever. I’m sure I’ll continue coming back.

One of the best coffee shops in town. Filter coffee with metallic mesh was a bit disappointing however filter coffee was good. Sitting area on upstairs was very nice and clean.

One of my all-time favorite coffee shops in Portland. What really shines here in my opinion is the environment. Downstairs you have a well decorated coffee bar and light seating and upstairs you have the majority of the seating for those staying a bit longer. Something that I wouldn't have thought about before realizing what felt so good here is the acoustics. The space is fairly quiet for having a decent amount of people in it, I assume due to the design of the sound dampening ceiling, and separate floors. Unlike most other coffee shops, you are able to study without noise-cancelling headphones. This is then topped off with a sound system that sounds wonderful playing their very good taste in music; a sort of unique style of lofi hip-hop. The staff is extremely friendly and the coffee is absolutely excellent. If I had a complaint, I'd say my latte wasn't super hot, but I'd be really nitpicking.

Really good coffee and nice atmosphere. We stopped here after a day at the gardens for an energy boost and we weren't disappointed. We had the honey late and vanilla late and both were yummy. Maybe a little too sweet for us but close enough. Also enjoyed the upstairs section. I could see myself using this as a great place to study/work if I lived here.

Great coffee! The menu is small but that's what's great about it. They've perfected the drinks and plus, it won't take you too long to decide what you want. I had the honey latte, which is a hit or miss in general, but this one was perfect. It had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. My husband had the nitro cold brew, which was also really good. We were only in town visiting for a few days, but now I regret not visiting more than once.
