Delicious food! I ordered the carnitas Super Taco. I highly recommend and will definitely return to try more dishes I recently had the burrito with Al pastor. So delicious!

One of my go to spots in pk. Great street style tacos, burritos and more traditional meals. Their enchilada pork is banging. The prices are right. French fries are pretty mid but thats par for the course in terms of Mexican eats. Very legit.

The food was soooo good and authentic ! I had the milanesa torta and my husband had the barbacoa taco and consomé which was just what he needed missing Oaxaca ! Prices are great ! We got complementary chips with salsa and guacamole. The fresh waters are also super tasty and their ice cream is amazing!

Great authentic Mexican food . This place is great . Very clean and nicely decorated inside . The food is very delicious ,service was prompt. take-out available . Parking is limited . I will be coming back for sure

Some of the dishes here were super great like the Goat entree and some were a definite pass: the quesadilla. Good service, friendly staff, definitely check them out!

This was the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. There was so much flavor in the food that it was indescribable. The server was very kind and hospitable. I would recommend to any and everyone, I can't wait to come back again!

The food is tasty and the service is good and fast. They don't have many things on the menu on the day we visited, like mole, salsa verde or roja. So I lower one star.

I'll be honest, I was disappointed by my experience here. I absolutely love Mexican food and, being new to the area, was excited to see this business with an immaculate reputation on Yelp. I did come at an in-between time (around 3pm), so it's possible that this was a one-off, but it was so meh that I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another shot (if I do, I'll come right at lunch or dinner time). The good: the mole was fantastic! Even with a mediocre meal, this stood out as amazing. The portions were generous. I thought at one point the woman asked if I wanted chicken or beef enchiladas, and having never had beef enchiladas I said "beef please." It turns out, I received chicken enchiladas with a portion of skirt steak on top (see photo). Again, very generous. The decor was lively. The misses: The beans were quite bland, to the point where I was surprised...it's such a foundational element of Mexican cuisine, but they needed more spices / a touch more salt. Also, my wife ordered the veggie wrap and it was bland. It contained lots of different vegetables, but somehow they weren't seasoned. I know vegetarian burritos aren't all the craze, but when I took a bite of it, I agreed...it was just vegetables, no seasoning at all. Nice to have it on the menu for folks like my wife, but why not season them first? Maybe it was an oversight. The horchata was different from what I've had in the past...not bad, but not something I would recommend either. It was watery, lacked any cinnamon flavor, and had ground almond on top, which was interesting (maybe this is regional?). Without the dynamite mole and the generous portions, this would be a 2 star review, but I can't, in good conscience, give less than 3 stars with mole like that. But the beans...womp womp.

This place is amazing! There's about 9 tables, the service is great, portions are ample, prices low. Fresh corn tortillas, there is a big difference in flavor from the packaged ones. The menu is extensive with some Mexican plates you rarely see at most Mexican restaurants. The totopos are really crisp. The beans are well cooked and seasoned, the rice is moist, with some entrees the piquancy can be adjusted. The main dining room and uni-sex rest room is kept clean. Take-out available. Compostable and microwavable takeout containers There is some street parking.

We were in the area. and looking for to eat. And Since we had been here before and liked the food we came here again. Tables and chairs are typical Mexican. It's not a big place but comfortable. We had a new server, seems pleasant. She didn't rush me, as I take my time to decide what to order. I settled for the chicken soup and of course guacamole The soup is delicious. Pure chicken flavor. I also was given rice and typically J don't eat rice at restaurants. But the rice was good. I enjoyed it. everything was exceptional

The food is phenomenal and the portions are HUGE. Authentic Mexican flavors at affordable prices. My wife and I are from New York City and I didn't expect a restaurant in Poughkeepsie to blow our taste buds away (no offense Poughkeepsie, we love you). The ambiance and decor is also very fun, lots of colorful Mexican artwork and designs. The service was great our two entrees (taco al pastor and vegetarian burrito) were ready in about 10 minutes. My vegetarian burrito was served with a mountain of French fries. We will definitely be coming back here (possible on the same trip, yeah, it's one of those restaurants that you could visit twice on the same trip!). Stop reading this review and go to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!!

The food, service, and prices were great for this Oaxacan gem. There seem to be a lot of Mexican restaurants in this area, and we can attest that this is a great one. If you want to go with the 'standards' you're good to go, but if you're feeling like going for something a little more atypical yet authentic, you can settle your lengua, chorizo, cabrito, etc cravings here. And they give you a lot of food, so if you're hungry, you're golden here. I'm not sure about this section of town. We did see some sketchy dudes stagger on by midday, which was a bit unsettling, but has nothing to do with the restaurant. Just try to park close.

Ok, yum is the first word... and the last word! This place is legit. The super tacos (street-style tacos) were flavored to perfection. The pastor was deliciously flavored. The campechanos is a mixture of chorizo and steak and were exceptional. I couldn't decide which I preferred. They came with rice and a scoop of guac, the latter in a miniaturized corn tortilla bowl. The chorizo chimichanga was also flavorful with white stretchy cheese, chorizo, and rice inside. This bad-boy was even delicious as a leftover, which I ate for lunch the next day. I'm not from the area, but I am thinking of excuses for how I can return to the area to eat at this establishment again. Very friendly weight staff and I could hear the kitchen staff laughing and having a good time. Sounds like a fun family. Cannot wait to return!

Came here for lunch after walking across the Hudson River walkway. And the place did not disappoint. Ordered the sopes con chorizo and wifey ordered the flautas with chicken. Kiddie ordered the chicken nuggets and fries lol. The food was great. Loved the sopes and service was quick. It's a small place but they make it work. Overall, would come back again if I'm in the area.

Amazing food and drinks & Great service. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND & I will be back for sure ! We came here after a walk over the Hudson and took a short drive over here. Plenty of parking right outside the store and plenty of seating. We ordered the super taco order which came with 3 tacos, rice and guacamole. We also ordered an enchilada filled with cheese. Drink- Aguas frescas- melon

Cocina Oaxaquena has tremendous authentic Mexican flavors but is doomed by its own success. The restaurant was extremely busy when we need I visited for dinner, the one server being totally overwhelmed by take out and diners. It took almost an hour for the food to arrive after ordering. That having been said though, I ordered the Carne Asada with mole and was blown away by the deep dark flavors of the wonderful sauce, but underwhelmed when the meat was very overcooked. The array of chips and salsas that came with the meal were outstanding again, highlighting that this is a place for sauce!

Some of the best mexican in Poughkeepsie. This spot is priced right and has great food. Usually around Poughkeepsie you don't get authentic Mexican like you used to so I was happy to come across this little mom and pop shop. The tacos were on point and so was the soup. Will definitely be back.

One of the good places because in Poughkeepsie there's so many, I eat here atleast 2 times a week!! Love it!!

Stop and eat at Cocina Oaxaquena for some delicious tampiquena, fajita, carne asada, and much more. We eat here a few times a month and they never disappoint. Quick and friendly service make it a pleasure to dine in, or get takeout. In the winter months I enjoy a bowl of pork pozole to warm me up. They do catering as well, to support your next family event.

I was coming back from a trip to NYC and I wanted some good mexican food. I love food from Oaxaca so I figured I would try this place. Ordered the super tacos which come with a side of rice amd guac. The tacos were tasty but the surprise was how flavorful their rice was. I was like wow, now that is good rice. I also liked their Horchata.

Fantastic Mexican food. Best lengua tacos and the 7 Mares soup is amazing. Generous with the garnishes and side sauces, which were A+, especiallythe green sauce omg. Great horchata too!

This is the best Mexican food I've had that wasn't homemade by my cousin. The salsa verde is so good I want to cry.

Real Deal Mexican Food!!! All prepared fresh to order, nice staff, super clean place. I had the enchiladas Rojas and a side of guacamole- honestly some of the best I've eaten anywhere, including Mexico. Try the le Mexican Hot Chocolate too- nicely spiced and not too sweet, great way to finish the meal off. Would definitely come back.

Best Mexican food in the region. Veggie burrito and side of their phenomenal guacamole is my jam. Owner and daughter are super nice. Restaurant seating area is bright and cheery and impeccably clean.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Huge, delicious portions of enchiladas. They made mine vegetarian (upon request) which was really nice. Ask about the aguas frescas. Tamarind was excellent.

You cannot go wrong here. I brought a full gang of people to show them the food of my people - and boy, did they not disappoint! My Turkish friend got a leg of lamb (and loved it); some other friends split a giant quesadilla and I and another friend had the mole enchiladas, which will make ANYONE happy. (I'm a vegetarian, and trust me, they are stupendous - you can also have them with chicken filling). The portions are very generous, so come hungry! I've been back and had their home-made from-scratch (like, from the hominy) tamales, and, wow! Even in Mexico people would be talking about those tamales! I want to take my mom here when she visits. The decor is lively, with bright green walls and Aztec motifs. Service is good. Clearly the owners work hard. They have definitely earned my business. They are pricier than Taco Gol, my other favorite place, but are slightly classier, for those days you want to bring a party.
