"Durham loves its coffee, and homegrown shop Cocoa Cinnamon is one of the most beloved spots in town. There are three locations now (pro tip: The Lakewood one has churros), but the Geer Street shop is the OG. A myriad of espresso drinks are available alongside traditional Mexican sipping chocolates, teas, locally baked pastries, and more." - Matt Lardie

"There are three locations of Cocoa Cinnamon, the city’s best coffee shop, but we like the Old North Durham flagship best. It’s just a few blocks from the center of downtown, in a single-story brick building that’s become a community hub where you’ll probably run into a local musician or freelance writer set up in the corner. The espressos and lattes come from the company’s own Little Waves Coffee Roasters, and they sell blends like a dark roast “Royal 7,” named for the seven civil rights activists who protested segregation in Durham. They make some unusual and interesting drink options also, like kakawa, a pre-Columbian cacao beverage, and mocktails like the Love Frequency with espresso, orange juice, and sweetened seltzer." - eric ginsburg

My husband knows how much I love trying new coffee shops and he heard about this one from a friend. I ordered an iced Al Mokha for take out today and it was absolutely delicious! It has a hint of cinnamon along with the chocolate that is perfect! They have indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee. The staff are friendly and quick. We will definitely be back!

Very unique place, love to plants, art, covered outdoor seating, dog friendly, new coffee flavors - try something crazy or ask the barista their fav option! This place was packed during a weekday, so plan accordingly. And parking was atrocious! Parking for the coffee shop totally full, park on street and pay then walk. So be prepared! Otherwise, great time! Ham and Cheese croissant toasted and lime espresso drink were surprisingly good 👍🏽

I really liked the ambience and vibe of this cafe, music was great too! I spent almost 10$ on an iced matcha though which is a bit too expensive but I’m sure you can find cheaper drinks!

Had a great experience this morning grabbing coffee and pastry and then working from this location! I got there around 8:50am on a Friday and there were plenty of seats but by about 9:30am the place filled up with other working professionals/students. I had Dr. Durham latte and a morning bun (puff pastry covered with cinnamon sugar). Loved both. I'll ask for my Dr. Durham extra hot next time :) The place has an awesome vibe. Loved the board with community events. Staff is friendly. Good selection of coffee and pastries. Wifi was fast. I'll be back to chill and/or work from here in the future, might be my new favorite coffee shop spot!

Been here a few times and the coffee has always been great. I enjoy the Cubano. Their baked goods are delicious. The pictures of the seating are just the more intimate areas, it’s right at the entrance but there’s more seating when you walk fully in. It can get crowded on the weekends so going on a weekday to spend time in there may be the best.

Fun location in Durham. Garage doors were closed when we visited as it was very windy and cold. You get a lot of sunlight. Fast service, you go to the counter and wait for your order. Pastries are given to you as soon you order. We noticed a toaster after we ate our pastries but you can use it. Decent space for indoor seating plenty outdoor seating. Great flavor of all our drinks.

I had a wonderful cold brew coffee and blueberry muffin that I enjoyed outside - both were delicious! They have a cute patio area with quite a bit of seating for small or larger groups surrounded by a beautiful pollinator garden. Perfect ambiance for a morning coffee and would be a great place to work. Not a lot of seating inside but maybe 5 small tables. Service was kind and fast!

Not my favorite coffee shop in Durham. They don’t have almond milk which is a bummer. The latte I got from here was undrinkable. I did have another that was ok. Their pastries are pretty decent. The seating outside is very nice, but the inside layout is very confusing to figure out who has ordered versus who is waiting for their drinks/food. It gets very crowded and uncomfortable with the layout as it is.
