"Even if you didn’t grow up in the 80s, Coin-Op will take you back to your teenage years - real or imagined. This bar is gigantic and filled with arcade games like Donkey Kong and Frogger, and they have a ton of craft beers and fun cocktails, too. The kitchen stays open until 1am, which means that you can do what you could never do as a kid - stay up way passed your bedtime, play video games, and eat snacks. Split some chicken wings with your friends, but maybe wash your hands before going back to playing Galaga. If you really want to take the video game experience to the next level, get reservations at their hidden bar upstairs called The Grid." - Will Kamensky

Coin-Op is such a fun bar downtown to go to on a night out. The bar is lined around with retro games including air hockey, skeeball, and all kinds of video games. Some days it's very laid back and you can sit inside or outside with a group of friends and other nights it gets very packed! The drinks are good and their food is too. The pizza and pretzel bites have yet to disappoint. The workers are super cool and friendly. Came here recently to celebrate a birthday with a small group and we got to enjoy the games and take a picture in their photo booth. Definitely recommend as a stop in a bar crawl or for a night out with your friends if you love a more upbeat atmosphere.

What a fun find! My husband and I were in town for some testing at the UC Davis Sacramento campus and were looking for something fun to do in the evening before driving back to Reno. A 21+ bar with an arcade (or is an arcade with a bar??) was perfect!! My cocktail was great and all the old games were fun. My husband is a ping pong buff and has a love for the old school arcade games. I’m not very good at those but did okay at QBert and a couple others. I don’t remember how long it had been since we played ski ball or air hockey but we had a lot of fun. Bring cash (smaller bills) because the machines take real quarters!

Looking for a fun night out ??? And 21 and older a.k.a Middle age and looking for something to do . This is the place memories of Friday night pizza and video games with now adult drinking . Husband and I never been it was our 21 st anniversary and we absolutely loved the cocktails and for him of course IPA’s. Bartenders are a blast and fun video games were the best !!! Please try it out will definitely be back again!

12/31/2024 EXTREMELY pissed off with this place. Waited in line. Got to the bottom of the stairs and Paid the $10 and was told that ALL games were set to FREE play. I went over to Street Fighter 2 which is directly next to Mortal Kombat 2 and both read "insert coin" so I notified the employee that was at the door taking the transactions. He sent over a technician who went to both machines and simply added a few credits to each machine but didn't set them to FREE PLAY. I'm wondering if management even cares at all about doing this to customers.

Google
This is an awesome place to hang out. I'm not much of a drinker, and don't play video games. It was pretty cool seeing some of the classic arcade games from my youth. The vibe was awesome, and you see a very diverse crowd. Staff is very friendly, and I appreciate how they kept things clean, despite how busy it was for a Friday night. It was a fun atmosphere, and a great selection of classic arcade games.

Google
I have been coming to Coin Op for many years and I really like the new updated re-design. Their Happy Hour is damn near unbeatable, with a slice of pepperoni pizza just $2.50 and discounts for drinks too! Plenty of great arcade games.

Michael Kawamoto

Google
Great arcade bar for late nights. Games ranging from 25 cents to $1. Definitely a go to spot for Saturday night out with friends or a date night. They close a bit early on Sundays, but you always bar hop to the local bars after. Lots of classic arcade games to choose from!

Wendy F.

Yelp
Definitely a cool place to check out and hang out! The vibes were great and games were cool. They have their own power punch pack juice to drink. Haven't tried the food there yet but I would recommend checking this place out. Haven't had any bad service at all, everyone seems to be really chill

Jamie B.

Yelp
We stopped here after leaving a bar in the same area. It's 21 + and they check purses and IDs before entering. It was a Saturday night so it was fairly busy but it was easy to order a drink and play the games you wanted. We put in $20 for quarters and had enough to play for about an hour for a group of 4. The prices of games seemed to be $1/each. The bartenders were friendly and even offered a free shot to a birthday guy in our group. This is definitely a fun place to be and is great for a date night or a night out with friends.

Yelp
Had a great experience with service and the place was clean. Getting coins and playing games was super straight forward. Really happy they had a Photo Booth. Parking garage nearby for easy access. Our pizza came out pretty quick too. Thank you!

Shelby M.

Yelp
Had the best time at coin-op! Watched the football games while bringing out our childhood selves with drinks and snacks. The staff was super nice and the specials were great! Loved the atmosphere and the decorations including their touch of games incorporated even on the bar tops! Had an amazing time and we will be back for more fun.

Yelp
Came here for a work event so I didn't get a chance to take many pictures of the food. The service was fast and the drinks are cute. I got a peach something, I forgot what it was called. It looks cute and tastes ok. Glad it wasn't too sweet but the peach flavor was subtle, barely there. Wish it tasted a little more peachy. My friend ordered a margherita pizza with cauliflower crust with no cheese since she's vegan and it came out with no tomatoes and no basil either. Just a round bread with dried seasoning. Luckily, it wasn't bad. We also ordered some wings. Dry rub tasted like curry and way too much rub on the wings. Lemon pepper wings were extra salty but the Buffalo wings were the only ones edible without having to remove all the seasoning off. It's a cool spot for a large group but the music was super loud and we had to scream to talk so keep that in mind

Joey S.

Yelp
Cool place to check out when you're downtown. They've got a mix of newer and classic games, and I appreciate that most of the classic games still cost a quarter! They've got a standard bar menu (beers on tap, some specialty cocktails) and their food is decent. They've got some good happy hour specials, too! A couple tips: - Bring cash if you've got it. They have several change machines, but it's better to skip using their ATM and incurring fees. - No outside drinks are allowed at all. I usually carry a Nalgene with me everywhere. I was stopped outside when checking IDs because it was half full of water. I went to go pour the water out and they said it couldn't come inside, even when empty. Leave your Stanleys and such at home!

Vanessa P.

Yelp
Great vibe! The service was enjoyable, and it was such a Fun atmosphere, there are a variety of drinks and the games are nostalgic and fun! The power punch is my personal favorite, every time we are on DTT we stop here.

Yelp
Updated review as of 6/30/24. They downsized with their most recent renovations from a year or so ago. All the games are pushed up against each other. They got rid of a lot of pinball machines. Buttons on a good number of games didn't work properly. Service is good when you bring things up that need attention but it just feels like the place has gone downhill since they first opened many years ago.

Agustin R.

Yelp
Cool bar with plenty of room and games to play and have fun with a full bar also they don't have waiters walking around so you have to get your own drinks at the bar but they were pretty fast making the drinks

Nia H.

Yelp
Always a good time when I find myself at the coin-op. The last time was to bring in this new year (2024) & I still had a decent time. I loge the games and their drinks are always hella fun -- usually strong too. The bar service is below par, but I can't hold them. The ambience is all I go here for; it's great!

Laura B.

Yelp
The drinks are great and the atmosphere was so lively. Spent practically the whole night here, you can also eat here which is lovely when you're drunk just be aware you'll be spending a lot on the games, they're each at least $1 to play. Also be aware they will be checking your ID to put you in their system along with a photograph of you before you enter.

Amanda W.

Yelp
Love this place. Great drinks and fun to play the arcade and vintage games are always fun!

Rochelle D.

Yelp
This is my 3rd coin-op I've been to and this one has a nice selection of games - not the biggest and not the smallest. Upon arriving, the bar had a line as there was only one person taking orders, but the bartender was pretty quick. Mitty's cider - surprisingly was a sour beer which I wasn't mad at since I like sour beers. Orange Ave - was nice drinkable beer. Reminded me of blue moon/shock top. Twisted Tea - is just plain sweet! Haha Coin-op is a great spot to visit after a game, after dining out, or for drinks and snacks. I guess you could bring your kid here, but it's primarily adults here. Bathrooms were decent. I didn't like how there was a roll of tp hanging on the hook on the door where you would place your purse/jacket. Luckily there was tp in the dispenser, but gross. Who knows if it's been dropped or not.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night while waiting for a show at the Crest to start. It was busy, but not uncomfortably packed. Everyone from the bar to the wait/serving crew was nice and helpful. I honestly wasn't expecting much from bar food, but I ended up loving the pizza! It was thin with a nice crisp. Pretzel bites were plenty to share with my date. Drinks were really good and cute too. The games are super cool and nostalgic. Overall a good time!

Cruz Z.

Yelp
No wonder it took so long for our pizza to come out, they were too busy torching it to a crisp. We told the guy our pizza was burnt and he said "sorry dude" lol. Ernie likes it like that anyways, so I gave them 2 stars.

Rhonda B.

Yelp
I work at Coin Op and I must tell you that everyone that works here are great people. We love the wide range of visitors that come to hang out with us! Happy New Year!

Chad S.

Yelp
If u love classic arcade games Coin-Op Game Room brings it all back to 80s. It my generation growing up so seeing so many classic Frogger, Donkey Kong, so much more excited moment walk in. They all run on quarters and there change machine get them. I brought me back days after tennis practice get $20 in quarter play games with friends. Fun Factory and Tilt was cool place chill with friends. 808 will get. The best part that makes it different or not often come across same concept for bar. They also serve food nothing crazy basic pizza and stuff. They have full service bar in the middle nice diversity of drinks. The fact they have these stand up double cup holders perfect hold drink while playing games. They have even around no matter game pick be one. Outside there picnic tables hang out, taking stories over drinks, and even got couple jenga can play on the tables. It super close to DOCO. The only thing odd is u walk down flight of stairs from street level and check id on street level. Overall awesome play hang out. I would definitely go back again!

Yelp
They re-opened about a month ago. We're so glad they did! They have fewer pinball machines but it's still a very fun place to be. On top of that, they have the BEST pizza! Today we had Oscar's Poppin' Jalapeño pizza. It was so good we got one to go! Excellent service was provided by Soph, Wham and Kayla. The vibe is fun and they have a good selection of draft beers. Great place to hang out for a while.

Melissa G.

Yelp
Came here excited with high hopes however, what drove me to write this 1 star review was the fact that I had left my table, which was full of beverages, to use the photo booth right next to it for a matter of two minutes and my table was wiped clean which contained 3 drinks which were clearly not finished at all. The staff was not helpful at all and did not reimburse me with the drinks that my friends and I did not finish nor try to accommodate for their wrongful mistake. I will not continue to cater to a business that does not have their customers in mind when wrong is done on their end.

Monica G.

Yelp
Such a fun find on our trip to Sacramento! We loved playing all the games while enjoying our capri sun-esque drinks!

Yelp
Two old ladies (Myself and my bestie) decided that we were going to take my niece (her daughter) out for drinks to celebrate her 28th bday. We didn't want to do too much because her bday was the next day and again....we are just two old ladies This location was our second place of the evening. So glad we found out about this place while preparing to leave the first one. We sat at the bar and were treated very well Cocktails were finely made. They were prepared with love and care Also ordered the pizza with all of the meats and added the white sauce. Bbbaaabbyy let me tell you, this pizza was so damn good. We kept talking about while eating another slice and another slice. Luckily my niece only wanted one piece because it was enough for two people definitely. Three people and the pizza will give you like 2.5 pieces each. We talked alot in there The atmosphere felt good Not stuffy either with the amount of people that were there. I scanned the place to see if I saw some games that I might just want to play. (This was Before the second cocktail, pizza and conversations. I know I saw skee ball and that was enough satisfaction for me. I definitely would say this place is a great place to chill with friends or a chillax fun date.

Rileigh D.

Yelp
Chill vibe and friendly workers. Just wanted to have a few beers and relax with friends without being overwhelmed and this place was perfect

Ana P.

Yelp
I love the idea of an adult arcade. This place is okay. Their premade drinks aren't great and the bar is limited. A little overpriced on drinks and games. It's pretty small for an arcade. Staff was super friendly. I found they had an old The Simpsons arcade game I played when I was a kid so that was awesome. Glad they have some AC because last time I went it was hot AF.

Nate M.

Yelp
I wasn't sure if I was getting jaded by these "barcade" spots popping up everywhere, but Coin Op continues to be the stand out. I was only here for drinks and to hang out with a friend, so no food for me, but it smelled great as it was walked past me. The drinks had very heavy pours, and I love that I can scratch that pinball itch after a few shots of whiskey. This location is in downtown Sacramento which means parking is almost nonexistent and very expensive. This Coin-op location is in the basement of the surrounding buildings so there's not a super obvious store front or sign. Also if it's raining, be careful walking down those metal steps. I watched a few slip going up, oddly enough. Highly recommend this place as a first date spot!

Lisa B.

Yelp
All of the coin dispensers were broken & Almost every arcade game ate up the coins and had to get security to either reimburse us OR help us get it fixed. Also, the bartender with black hair tattoos & glasses tonight was SO freaking rude. Makes me never want to go there again. I'm so disappointed used to love the coin op before it was renovated & with its old staff but idk what the fuc* is up with this new staff of theirs and their new machines. To the bartender that checked my tab out last night with tattoos & glasses and black hair just because you're a bartender doesn't give yourself an excuse to be an asshole The coin op needs to get their shit together.

Janelle T.

Yelp
This place is pretty fun for a night out if you love games! The only con was the service. Our bartender was incredibly rude, so much so that I contemplated leaving the establishment (but didn't since my friends were there). She had zero patience and made me feel like I was doing something wrong by ordering drinks. I've not experienced such poor service before but outside of that I'd recommend a visit.

Javier A.

Yelp
Went to the one in Temecula and this one was so much fun and a great experience. The staff in whole were amazing and friendly. I would definitely come back and visit again. Thank you guys for everything, cheers.

George G.

Yelp
"Stepping into this retro paradise was like entering a time capsule of pure fun and indulgence. The air hummed with excitement as patrons immersed themselves in the glow of classic arcade games, their laughter and cheers mingling with the sounds of pixelated adventures. From Galaga to Mortal Kombat, the arcade offered a treasure trove of nostalgic delights, sure to ignite the inner child in anyone. Yet, amidst the flashing lights and joystick jousting, another delight awaited: a tantalizing selection of craft beer and artisanal cocktails. The bar boasted an impressive array of brews, from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts, each sip a testament to the artistry of the brewmaster. And for those seeking something beyond beer, the cocktail menu did not disappoint, offering inventive concoctions that tantalized the taste buds and sparked conversations. But let's not forget the pièce de résistance: the pizza. Each pie was awesome. Whether you were devouring a classic pepperoni or a meat lovers it's was good. Next time your in downtown Sacramento stop in it's a must

Ryann M.

Yelp
WAM WAS FREAKING AWESOME! Random Sunday Funday. Haven't been here in over a year. Previous visits have been cool. We just haven't been back since because we live out in Rocklin. Anyway, our drink orders were all over the place from shots, to beers (recommended by Wam), tequila sours (delicious), etc. We spent well over 2 hours here. We were happy with our drinks every time. The food smelled SO GOOD! But the only thing we had this day was pretzel bites that were devoured in 2.5 seconds, lol. Anyway, I was prompted to leave a review because the service from Wam was exceptional! He was patient, welcoming, helpful, funny. Great bartender, for sure!

Pa Nhia H.

Yelp
This place is normally packed and there is barely any place to sit. But it is a bar so standing is expected. It's a good place to mingle with friends and get drinks. The only thing that I don't like much about this place is the smell of smoke since smoking is allowed outside of the bar. I was sad that the big jenga set is removed since I enjoyed playing that with my friends.

laura e.

Yelp
Very chill vibes with the workers and the location great for a 1st date or chill with the homies it isn't to loud and you can definitely have a conversation and not have someone in your ear unless that's what your looking for haaa food is good enough had the pizza yumm and the music was cool Games and seating outside fun for everyone Only down was the walk there because you will have to park on the street or parking structure.

Ivy R.

Yelp
Came here with some friends and fell in love with all the retro games I played as a child. The atmosphere was inviting and the bartenders were pretty attentive despite it being busy. I enjoyed playing jenga even though I lost. Very chill happy vibes, certainly going back to play more games, eat pizza, and hang out.

Regia S.

Yelp
FUN! FUN! FUN! Good vibes from everyone. Such nostalgia whenever I come here. I heard their food is good. But I didn't get any when I went. I mainly just come for the games and drinks.

Allyssa P.

Yelp
Woohoo! Things are kinda...sorta...trying to get back to Pre-COVID days. LOL My husband and I decided to check out the "downtown scene" this past weekend and we brought along my brother-in-law and his girlfriend. We arrived to Coin-Op around 10pm on Sunday and it was pretty packed. There wasn't a line to get in, but when we got downstairs to the arcade area it looked like we were back in 2019 but with masks on. Lol, the staff have tried their best to enforce the 6ft apart rule. There was plexi glass in between each game and the tables were spaced out. They also had all patrons and employees wearing masks. The bars weren't nearly packed, thank god, so we didn't wait very long for our drinks. However, when we did get up there they didn't have their house liquor available and that's a huge bummer. Especially since there was a sign up advertising that exact liquor...any who, the bartender was cool and offered us an alternative. We got our drinks, sat at a table and let the boys run around and play. It was nice to get out of the house and feel "normal" again. I do wish they would update some of their games though. Maybe rotate some out and bring in "new" games? My only real complaint is there isn't anything really new at Coin Op whenever I come. You can expect the same crowd, same kind of drinks and same games...there's really not a "wow" factor.

Marisol F.

Yelp
Great place with a chill vibe. You can game and drink with a full bar setup and great bartenders to go with it. So many retro games like Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galaga, Q-bert, Street Fighter II, and Marvel v. Capcom. No cover charge.

Liann A.

Yelp
Located downtown off K Street is the Coin-Op Game room that has an outdoor area, plenty of games, and a bar. After a Kings Game we went bar hopping and you can also play tons of games and get drinks in this area. This was probably like the 3rd or 4th place we visited that night, no cover to get in and no outside food. I think we went to Taco Bell right before. We had a large group of like 9 people and we got in fairly quickly. There are bathrooms and drinks are fairly priced. We had a round of shots of tequila and there are plenty of places to sit and things to do while out.

Sirena Y.

Yelp
Came here mostly to play some old arcade games and ended up trying their cocktail, Mrs. Packman's Revenge and their margherita pizza. The games are really fun and take quarters to play. They have a change machine that only takes $5's and $10's but we were able to split a $20 with a bartender no problem. The drink was super delicious and a little on the pricier side but I felt like it was worth it since it was basically a craft cocktail. I'd come back just for a couple cocktails honestly. The margherita pizza was pretty bad. The structure of the pizza was limp and lifeless and the flavors weren't great. The sauce tasted off, kinda like it was a spaghetti sauce on the sweeter side like jarred Ragu or Prego vs a true pizza sauce.

Caitlin W.

Yelp
The place is really cool but the bartender and his service was terrible. He was extremely rude and still tried to pressure me into buying more drinks. I love the games and the environment was really fun but I doubt I'll be able to return which is highly unfortunate. I work in the service industry and I'm usually really understanding but this went far beyond bad service. :(

Jinx B.

Yelp
Good spot, fun people, the bartender who first served us was fantastic, but the second was terrible and over charged me. The signature cocktail was $13 each time and I was charged $3 for a Shirley temple earlier in the night but $5 later. (Also Only bar in sac I've been to that charges for DD drink refills and it feels especially strange when I'm dropping $30-40 to play video games all night.) So anyway we left after I got over charged and won't be back for a while at least.

Julian P.

Yelp
Ive been coming to Coin-Op for years and you just cant beat the atmosphere! Theres nothing like it in Sacramento! We came for the wings & beer on this trip, but we've also played a lot of the arcade games as well in the past! The bartenders are great and quick to ask if you need a refill. I always enjoy the food and the countless beer selections. I highly recommend Coin-Op if you've never had the privilege of experiencing it!

Victoria R.

Yelp
I didn't play any games but man, if you need your classic game fix, this is the place! My friend and I just ate pizza and drank. Bartenders were super nice and depending on the time of day you come, there are some great pizza and drink specials. Would be a cute place for a nerd date. Area of Sacramento feels a bit dirty and rundown.

Milena F.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here and it was so much fun. We came at little before happy hour ended, so it wasn't crowded just yet. The drinks were all delicious, and I got great recommendations from the bartenders. My partner really enjoyed the Dr. Mario, but I wanted to try a little of everything. My favorite had to be Ralphie's Rampage! The games are super fun and cheap, all the games we played were about 25¢ per game. They have a coin exchange machine if you bring cash. We also got slices of pizza which did take about an hour to come out, but they did let us know there were only two people in the kitchen and they were running behind. If you love thin crust pizza like I do, it was worth the wait.

Melody G.

Yelp
So much fun! They have all the classic games Great atmosphere, the food was so good. The bartenders are a vibe!

Jessica C.

Yelp
I went to CoinOp for the first time on a recent Wednesday evening (around 6pm). It was chill, the bartender was very attentive and kind, and the game options were amazing. I had a Big Sexy Hibiscus and Pomegranate Kettle Sour, which was yummy! My partner had a Ralphie's Rampage, which looked and tasted great! They have a lot of local breweries on the menu. It was exciting to see that many local brews. There's a full bar, too. We sat at the bar, had a drink, ate a delicious Donatello pizza, and played some skeeball. There's a change machine to get coins for games. We left around 7pm, and it was starting to get a little busier, but not crowded. My friend stayed until about 9:30 pm and said it was getting more patronage. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Aleks H.

Yelp
Love this fuckin place!!! Definitely a great place to hang out and play games specially if you're a big gamer

Chris M.

Yelp
Visited this past Sunday for the first time - Cool place, great atmosphere but wasn't a fan of how they were basically and indirectly kicking everyone out before they were even closed. They turned off the TVs first about 20 minutes to closing and 15 minutes to closing, they shut down the arcade machines. This was more upsetting as my girlfriend had just gotten change for a few dollars and as soon as she was about to play a few games, they shut them down, so she was left with a handful of quarters - thankfully, they gave her change in bills for the coins. But I digress. I get wanting to go home ASAP, especially on a Sunday but hours of operation are hours of operation. If you want to go home early, work fast and diligently after you're closed but you should never kick out your clientele before closing whether it's through direct or indirect means.

Tiara B.

Yelp
If you're a fan of arcade games, this is the spot to go one night. A friend and I stumbled across this place walking on K Street and we had a great time. Played so many childhood games from Frogger, pinball machines, PAC man, and so much more. Just make sure you have cash available so you can get tokens. An ATM was available on site but I'm not a fan of those that aren't at a bank. Overall, add this to your list for a date night or friend outing!

Kelly R.

Yelp
This place was fun but dirty. The drinks were OK. We got the juice box which had a Sex on the Beach inside. It was just OK & very small. We went on a rainy night and they had buckets out to catch all the rain leaks coming from the ceiling. Two patrons were walking around staring weirdly at us that gave us a bad vibe so we left. The games were a lot of fun!

Kat T.

Yelp
Food is great. Good music while playing awesome games. Makes me feel like I'm living in the 90's again. Perfect place for a nice of fun
