"Cole’s is a classic steakhouse and one of the more versatile restaurants in Napa. You’ll always have a great time, no matter the occasion. Pop into a leather booth in the dining room for one of their perfectly grilled 21-day dry-aged steaks to celebrate a birthday, or drop in on a whim for a martini and fries at the bar. While you’re here for red meat, don’t pass the seafood section. They make an incredible, butter-drenched lobster tail that somehow tastes even better on their outdoor patio. If you ask, they’ll gladly split and pre-portion most of the menu options, so you don’t have to compete for the best bite of the night." - christina julian, jasmine alexandra

We had dinner reservations for 6pm and we were seated within five minutes. The staff was extremely helpful considering we brought a baby. The bread wasn’t the greatest, but the steaks made up for it. I highly recommend the filet mignon, as it was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was spot on, and never skipped a beat. We will be returning soon.

3.5-4 star review. 10/10 service with very great staff. The steaks are pretty good but the sides are where this place shines. It’s funny to say but the steak house has better sides than they do steak. The steaks are similar to beef you would get at one of those all you can eat steak houses. The fact that they have a black and blue doneness option is nice though. Went here twice now and each time it would take roughly 90 minutes from ordering to get my steak. Sides come out much quicker. I sat outdoors under this large tent they had. It was unreasonably loud and hard to hear my family sitting at my table. Their chairs were extremely uncomfortable the first time I went; however, they placed cushions on the chairs the second time I went which helped a little. The chairs are still narrow outdoors though so you will be uncomfortable if you are anything above 6ft and north of 200lbs. The interior is well decorated but I have not sat inside yet. $620 for a six person tab and $480 for a 5 person tab. Overall, decent place. I might go back in the future but it’s definitely not the first place to come to mind. They do a lot right but lack on the comfort. The lack of comfort takes away from the experience because you sit on uncomfortable chairs in a loud environment for two hours for 7/10 steak and amazing staff. One of the easier places in downtown Napa to find parking which is a large plus.

My husband and I decided to splurge and do our anniversary dinner at Cole's Chop House in downtown Napa when we were celebrating last weekend. Everything was really nice! Most notably our server, Monica, was such a joy! She was super attentive, really personable and helpful in her dinner recommendations. She definitely helped make our anniversary special! We opted to sit outdoors in their heated enclosed patio. The ambiance was really cute. If you're worried about being warm during the cooler seasons, fret not! The heat really kept up well. Food wise, we got Oysters Rockefeller for our starter and they were SO delicious! We had the Black Angus Filet Mignon (10oz) and Black Angus Rib Eye Steak for our main meals. We both enjoyed our cuts and they were cooked very beautifully. For our sides, we got the Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes & Brussel Sprouts- both had the taste on point! We also got the side on special that night: lobster Mac & cheese. It was very good overall. The only reason it missed the mark for us is because of a preference- we aren't a fan of truffle. But that was at our own personal thing and not due to the cooking at all!!! Just calling it out in case you have a preference against truffle. It was very well prepared and still such a treat!! Monica also brought us an anniversary desert of ginger snap cookies. It was such a sweet touch and they tasted awesome! The quality here was definitely really wonderful! Would recommend this to anyone looking for a good experience and good food and can splurge a little!

Google
Cole’s Chop House offers a solid dining experience in Napa with a classic steakhouse vibe. While the steak was perfectly cooked and the service attentive, some aspects fell short. The bread was disappointing, and overall, the flavors felt a bit flat and tailored more for the masses than for a distinctive palate. It’s still an enjoyable spot for a night out, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights I’d expect for its reputation. A solid 4 out of 5.

Happy 25th Cole’s! Perfect steaks. Casual but elegant atmosphere. Professional team making for a great dining experience. Pricey but worth it!

Umm…not sure what happened here. The outside looks great. That’s about the end of the good things. We had a 9pm reservation. We arrived and our table wasn’t ready. There’s no real place to stand inside to wait so either wait in the cold or awkwardly block the walkway near the hostess stand. Lobster bisque was watery, through the puffed pastry was a nice touch. Every salad served was over dressed and had brown romaine lettuce. The oysters were ok. The surf and turf left much to be desired in terms of presentation, flavor and temperature. I ordered hash browns but was served au gratin, but couldn’t find the server until I was done with my proteins so by then it was too late. The lobster mac was blah. Our server seemed rushed and disheveled the entire time, never really mellowed out or found his footing. When we were leaving, there were at least 6 tables still eating but everything was being packed up and the floors were wet so the whole evening felt like everyone was ready for us to leave.

We went to Cole’s Steak House after our last wine tasting, and it was the perfect way to wrap up our trip—saving the best for last. Our waiter was incredible, addressing us by name and allowing us to savor the evening without feeling rushed. The steak was, without a doubt, the best. Such a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in Napa!

We went for our actual anniversary during our honeymoon. The food was amazing. Get the ribeye. We shared. It was a lot of food. The drinks were good. Service was awesome and they gave us a card and treat for celebrating at their location.

Yelp
We came here the day after Valentine's Day for dinner. My wife had been here in the past, but this was my first time. I was amazed with the whole decor of place such as the humongous display of wine bottles on the wall and the upstairs dining area (we ate downstairs). The staff was very friendly and welcoming including the owner Eric who came to our table to greet us and give us the cocktails we had ordered. I used to work with Eric's wife years ago, and my wife used to watch their son at day care; so it's was good seeing him after all these years. We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller which were excellent. I asked our server Atiyeh where the oysters were from, and he said fresh from the Chesapeake Bay. I could tell these were no oysters like I've had before. So good! Our server Atiyeh (who was very attentive all night and a wonderful host) was very courteous and knowledgeable a out everything, even the steaks. We were originally going to go with a 21-day dry-aged porterhouse, but suggested this might not be the right choice since we both like ours cooked medium. Long story short, he suggested dry aged steaks like like are better served rare or medium rare at best. He recommended the ribeyes which we had no problem with. We also ordered Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Wild Mushrooms. The steaks were superb! Nice charred crispness on the outside and juicy inside. Awesome flavors! The mashed potatoes were so smooth and delicious. The mushrooms also had sautéed onions with a gravy sauce. Very good. With all that good eating, we somehow found room for dessert which did not disappoint. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse dessert was one of the best I've ever had! Not too rich with just the right amount of sweetness. This place can cost you a pretty penny, but the experience is well worth it. To be honest, a year ago I probably couldn't have seen myself being able to afford dining here. But things happen, the right pieces fall into place, and here I am. To be able to experience Cole's and what they offer means a lot to me. I hope to go back again soon.

Yelp
They do what they can. This is a place that gets a little to far out over their skis. Being a top notch Steak place in Napa can be like be a bit misleading and it's evident Coles reads their own press clippings. The Bourbon selection is excellent. The steaks are good. Please stop treating customers like we are privileged to be honored with eating one. Sides are average for a Steak House (I live in New York. The bar is set high.) I really don't dig the vibe that somehow you're doing me a favor by allowing me to drop $350 on a meal for one. Appreciation is a wonderful thing.

Yelp
My gf surprised me with a birthday dinner here and WOW. I've been to a few steakhouses and this was definitely one of the best experiences I've had. Friendly and swift service, and the steak cooked exactly how I wanted it. Server even asked if I'd like to try it and see if it's cooked to my liking, definitely a plus because all the other places I've been to never bothered to ask if the steak they brought out was cooked to my liking. Had the 21 day dry aged porterhouse, sautéed mushrooms, and lobster mac and cheese which was a special for the night. Maybe my next birthday I'll be here to try the wagyu!

Joelle C.

Yelp
Christopher, our server was amazing! He was very helpful when ordering, gave us all specials and when I asked for the Wheezy Breezy (my take on an Amaretto/Cranberry) with A Maraschino Cherry he suggested the port cherry that was delicious! The pork chop was tender and full of flavor. Hubby had the lobster, my brother had the salmon and my sister had the petite filet Oscar style and nothing disappointed! All staff was professional, friendly, quick and accommodating!

Yelp
Our experience was AMAZING! We were celebrating a long time friendship and made reservations for 4. Unfortunately, it was a late dinner, but it was all they had available. I couldn't wait to try their Lobster & shrimp bisque with that puff pastry on top and it did not disappoint. If you like lobster & shrimp you should DEFINITELY order this!! The other three ppl ordered clam chowder and they were pleased with it. We weren't too hungry and also wanted to leave room for dessert so we bought two main entrees and some sides to share and it worked out great. We ordered the surf and turf ( medium) and everything was just right and cooked to perfection. Our friends ordered the 10 oz Filet Mignon ( medium). We shared the Cauliflower with chili flakes and garlic butter yummmmmm. We also shared the scalloped potatoes/ Gruyère potatoes YUMMMM. We also shared three dessert orders. Crème Brûlée, Chocolate Brownie & Espresso gelato & Pecan Pie with vanilla gelato. SOOO WORTH IT!! It's a must go place!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a birthday and what a special experience! We were greeted at the start with a birthday card from Cole's which was a nice touch. Our server was kind and attentive, as well as other staff! We ordered the dry aged porterhouse steak medium rare. The steak had a nice umami and nutty flavor. And paired well with our sides the sautéed mushrooms and lobster Mac and cheese (special side). Both sides were also very delicious!! We also ordered non-alcoholic cocktails which tasted and looked great! Cole's Chop House has an elevated, welcoming atmosphere. I could tell they have many regulars, so that was nice to see. We had a lovely time and a great dinner here!

Yelp
Cole's Chop House provided us with a truly memorable experience for our 14th wedding anniversary! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, making us feel special throughout the evening. The drinks were fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious--each dish was perfectly crafted. It was the perfect setting to celebrate our love and create lasting memories. If you're looking for a fancy night out with top-notch service and tasty cuisine, I highly recommend Cole's Chop House. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return!

Yelp
Overall good experience with a small let down. But would come back. We celebrated a birthday here. We noted it was a birthday on the reservation. They greeted us happy bday and gave a little card. Thoughtful. The issue is we saw other people celebrating what appeared to be bdays and they got what seemed to be a special dessert with a candle and we didn't. We ordered a dessert and no candle was given like the other people around us. Otherwise good service but this made me a little upset, especially since this was a $400 dinner. I didn't bring it up. I'm hoping this was just an oversight and nothing else (but as a minority it did make me wonder). Food was rich and delicious. The bread pudding was the only thing we didn't like. It was SO SWEET that it actually tasted gross. Would come back.

Yelp
Service was definitely top notch. Everyone worked as a team to make our experience unforgettable. We decided last minute to eat here and could only get something around 5 and outside. Staff fixed the umbrellas so we wouldn't get hit by the sun. My black and blue ribeye was perfectly juicy and tender. On their kids menu we got sliders, but my daughter couldn't handle the spiciness of it.

Andre G.

Yelp
This place was amazing. The food was to die for my server. I forgot his name, but was great. We went here for my anniversary and it was very nice. Very respectful would definitely be back again. I love how everything was set up five out of five.

Suzie C.

Yelp
Everything was sooo Delicious!!! I totally recommend this place for a special occasion or whenever you're wanting a good meal!!! Brice was a Great Server! Super nice and gave us a great selection to choose from for wine! Highly recommended!

Yelp
While it was hot being seated in the outside patio, the servers were very attentive with providing a consistent flow of ice water. This was super helpful! There is seating inside and another seating space upstairs with AC and fans running on this hot day. However, there were no available seating indoors. The food was excellent and family friendly. While my 7year old ordered from the children's menu, we ordered steaks. Ribeye and mashed potatoes were our favorite! We did start with the Dungeness crab cocktail which was different and delicious. It was creamy with a slaw underneath which provided a refreshing crunch to the dish. We also had the mushroom side dish as well as the Parmesan truffle fries side dish. However, I must say that the mashed potatoes was enjoyed by everyone to where the plate was cleaned out! For dessert, we went with the banana cream pie and my daughter had the vanilla gelato. It was a wonderful family dinner! Thanks to the chefs and staff for a great first-time experience The restrooms are well maintained. One has very dim lighting however. I mention this because I personally prefer a well lit restroom

Yelp
Cole's is my go to place in downtown Napa. Steaks are awesome and service is excellent. The ambiance is romantic...perfect for date night.

Mireya M.

Yelp
The food here was delicious! There was not a single thing I didn't like here! The steak was cooked perfectly, the lobster mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were so tasty! The drinks were some of my favorite cocktails I've had while in Napa. The server was super attentive and was able to have all our dishes split since I was sharing with my mom! The building itself looks very historic making it a wonderful environment to have dinner in!

Miriam N.

Yelp
Cole's Chop House was a yummy fancy dinner out. Everything was delicious. The side dishes were such a rich indulgence, without feeling too heavy. The cauliflower seasoning was so refreshing. I ordered medium for my steak, but it was a bit more towards medium well. Service and the vibe were great!

John E.

Yelp
Another great Cole's experience, this time dining solo at the bar. The bartenders can put you on a waiting list for dinner at the bar, I had a cocktail while waiting. Service and food were excellent, great mix of locals and tourists chatting at the bar. Energetic but not too loud. Not pictured: Apple Cobbler to go which was as good as the food.

Ana Q.

Yelp
Went for a birthday celebration and the service was amazing. Food is exceptional and great ambiance.

Anabel U.

Yelp
Thank you to the staff at Cole's Chop House for working to seat our large group on a late Saturday night. While we were waiting our group was offered blankets to keep warm as it was chilly. There was music playing inside that drifted outdoors where folks were having casual conversations. The hibiscus margarita was a little on the sour side from the lime but overall had great flavor. While I ordered my steak medium well it came out more so well done. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were great sides and major hits for the dinner.

Crystal M.

Yelp
When you eat at Cole's Chop House you will never be disappointed! They have the best staff, amazing servers, the best bartenders and the owner is so personable and is present during every visit I have ever had there. The steaks are WORTH every penny! They are thick, high quality, and perfectly cooked every time. The flavor is spot on every time! The side dishes are shared family style but omg, they are all amazing! The asparagus and the hashbrowns fully loaded are great! They also have the best mashed potatoes. Their salads are fresh, their soups are comforting and warm. The drinks are TOP NOTCH! And the atmosphere is brilliant. You want the best steakhouse in Napa- look no further! You have found it at Cole's Chop House!

Joji M.

Yelp
Service, ambiance and food were all amazing! Steak was ridiculous good, the drinks were amazing, desserts were good, and the cappuccino at the end was a must!

Miranda G.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. We love this place. They are always impeccable. Steaks cooked to perfection and service above par. We went back last night for an early dinner and were not disappointed. If this is within your budget, worth every dollar.

Yelp
Celebrated our wedding anniversary here during our Napa weekend. I noted in the reservations that we were celebrating our anniversary. If your love language is 'gift receiving' like me, then you know how important special occasions like this are. And before you judge, it's not the price tag of the 'gift' that is important to me, it's the thought, care, or effort that went into choosing or executing it. Unfortunately no mention of our anniversary was made by the hostess when we checked-in, so there was a lack of care. It was kinda odd because the hostess was the same hostess at another restaurant that we dined at the day before. There, she asked us if we were celebrating anything, even though the answer was in the notes. They had a stack of cards and she grabbed one for us. So at Coles, while we were waiting at the bar to be seated, I went up to her to ask if she also worked at [the other restaurant] and she said yes. I told her we remembered her from the day before:) . I'm sure she sees a lot of people everyday so I didn't expect her to remember. Since there's no waiting area, we sat at a high top table while we waited for our table to be ready. Even thought we weren't directly at the bar, the bartender asked if we wanted a drink, which I thought was kind. I think we had the best table in the restaurant b/c we could see everything from our view. :) Along those lines, we saw the tables next to us had celebratory cards that said Happy Anniversary. It was a bit embarrassing for me to ask our server if we would get one of those for ours. He looked confused and I was like, "I mentioned it in the reservation notes what we're celebrating". I know he probably doesn't see that information so it's not his fault. Perhaps the hostess can pay a little more attention to the notes in the reservation so stuff like this doesn't happen. He was like, oh yeah. I'll get you one. Well, he kept passing by us every now and then. We now had our drinks and appetizer. A while had passed and I realized that he had forgotten our request. My husband knows my love language, so he stopped a manager who happened to walk by and let him know that our server had forgotten and if he could bring us one. The manager was very kind and quickly went to get it for us. Just as the manager came to our table w/the card, our server also came to our table to bring something we had ordered. The manager whispered something to him and I was in my mind thinking like, "ooooou". I don't know what he told him but I don't think it was good. -Oysters Rockefeller: (4/5). The portion is 4 oysters. Our server recommended we get a 2nd order but I thought this was sufficient for us. -Humble Honeydew: (3.5/5). I didn't get too much of the honeydew flavor but it was a refreshing cocktail, and a bit tart. - Hibiscus Margarita (3/5): My husband loves agua de jamaica (hibiscus water) but unfortunately this missed the mark for him. -Rib eye steak (5/5). The flavor was very good and cooked medium rare as requested. But about half way through, my steak was well done. I let our server know and he was prompt to replace it with a new steak. -Baked Potato w/bacon and cheese (5/5): The portion was huge and good for 2 adults to share. -Sauteed Mushrooms (5/5): very good flavor and a nice bite to the mushrooms. If you like a bit of a crunch to your mushrooms, these are for you :) -Banana Cream Pie (4/5): I think after the card-fiasco earlier, our server was now well aware that we were celebrating our anniversary. He brought our dessert and put a candle and a chocolate plate on our dessert that said happy anniversary. The dessert itself was pretty good and chilled. It was quite chilly this evening. They also had outdoor seating with heated lamps. Overall, I would return to have dinner here again.

Robert B.

Yelp
Awesome! The steaks were prefect, sides also great. The staff was very friendly and the owner Cole came by to say hello. The atmosphere was very steakhouse ish and very nice. The drinks were great, the quality of steak great, the sides great, the staff great, the portions big and the value exceptional.

Yelp
This review summarized our first visit to Cole's, when we decided to stop by after a daytrip to Santa Rosa, and Cole's was on the route home. We walked in and we were told that there is only patio dining. It was a nice warm day, and they found us a shady table. The patio was in front of the entrance, but fenced off from the foot traffic along the river walk. The service was impeccable, and the food was good. I particularly liked the artisan cheese plate appetizer we ordered. We both liked our entrees (petite filet mignon and rack of lamb), which were perfectly prepared. The sauteed mushrooms and baked potato were nice accompaniments to the entrees. The price point for Cole's was similar to most local steakhouses, but Cole's was conducive to conversation, whether dining on the patio or inside. The ambience inside was quiet enough for easy conversation around a table ample enough to seat 6. The other positive about Cole's is its location in downtown Napa, with ample parking and easy access to the Napa or Sonoma wineries. As Cole's is convenient for us, we have returned for family celebrations, with the same excellent dining experience as on our first visit.

Yelp
Took 9 months, but finally got back to Cole's Chop House. All the build up being back in Napa and ready for a repeat of the outstanding dinner we had previously enjoyed......but leaving terribly disappointed. We (2 of us) were seated 25 minutes after our reservation. Could have been worse. Wound up sitting along their wine bottle wall at an extremely small table in a row of ilk. The distance between tables was maybe 3 feet? Because of the minimal distance between tables, we could barely have a conversation because of the restaurant noise and conversations at the tables we were between. So close that we listened to the other wait staff promoting the nightly specials, drink suggestions, conversations, and then the servers bringing our neighbor's dishes. Our dinner was pretty unremarkable. Filet had a great taste, but was difficult to cut. The two sides we ordered, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were very good, but it was very difficult to share the sides, again due to the size of the table! We maxed out on space with two dinner plates, water glasses and bread that our server remembered right before our dinner came! Good thing we passed on the sparkling wine, as a 6oz glass of our preferred bottle was $60.....each! Ridiculous pricing and much increased since our last visit. After such an unpleasant experience, instead of a little after dinner chat and possibly dessert, we decided just to pay and leave. Doubt that we will be back, which is a shame

Yelp
Hubby and I came for date night and it was our first time here and a nice way to end our year. Our server, Cole, was awesome and welcoming. He offered great recommendations. Hubby got the rib eye steak as that is his fav and I was in the adventurous side decided to try lamb chops for my first time ever and order some family style sides of brussel sprouts and Parmesan truffle fries. We ordered drinks (hubby had gin and I had a very good rose wine). We enjoyed our drinks so much and ordered another of each to enjoy with our meal. Our server had us served with warm bread and butter along with some awesome potato bites that were just so delicious! Our food arrived and it did not disappoint. Hubby and I shared everything and we both agreed that while everything was good the lamb chops were the star of the main meal. After all that we still had some leftover to bring home but could not leave without having dessert of bread pudding. I am usually not a fan of bread pudding but if it has caramel I am sold. Omg that bread pudding was so soft and warm with tons of caramel poured on top was the best dessert ever!! It was a great way to end our meal and time together at such a nice place. Yes it was pricey but so worth it. We had reservations and the place fills up very quickly along with people still waiting even when we left a couple hours later.

Yelp
If you're gonna go to Blue Note in NAPA you have to have dinner at Coles chophouse food is amazing! So we walked in with a late reservation and the wait would've been about 30-40 minutes and the lady asked if we were celebrating anything and our anniversary just passed last month so they made an exception, waited 10 minutes maybe less, gave us a great table, a cute card and the food was absolutely divine! The service was amazing! So please make your reservation Before you buy your tickets at The Blue Note!

Yelp
Review: after a day of wine tasting, I decided to give this place a try so glad that I did the food exceeded my expectations. Everything had so much flavor and was very good. I really enjoyed myself here. And would definitely return again. Service: I forgot my server name, but I think his name was Jacob. He was very knowledgeable, very helpful and gave us great recommendations on how to cook my steak perfectly. He was very nice and polite very attentive very social and overall nice guy. I hope I got your name right but if I didn't, the service was very good. Ambience : outdoor seating has heated lamps. It's very intimate and relaxing. The inside is very nice as well. Conclusion : this steakhouse comes very recommended and I can see why I definitely recommended the food is very good. Service was good. It definitely exceeded my expectations. This is definitely one of my go to places and I will definitely return here whenever. I'm in Napa. Thanks for the great service and great food. Cocktails are great. Everything was great I love this place, I hope I have the same experience next time!

Yelp
The service here is amazing. It's super fancy and dishes are plated exceptionally well. Expect to pay a pretty buck to eat here. Their mashed potatoes are so delicious and I loved their dessert. They have an amazing porterhouse you can get it cooked however you like. Their cocktails are also really good. All in all, I highly recommend this steakhouse. You won't be disappointed after you're done. It's very intimate and clean. Definitely the perfect place for a date/ celebrations!

Yelp
Great service! Best espresso martini I had. Got recommended by an employee of migration! Cheers!

Yelp
My friends and I dined here while in Napa! I had high expectations for Cole's Chop House, but they did not live up to my expectations. Richie was our server and he just seemed like he was rushing. He didn't really explain anything and he wasn't that pleasant in my opinion. We ordered a variety of items and everything was just subpar. Most of the flavors were lacking and very bland. Our food also came out very lukewarm. The best thing was the bread pudding and espresso martinis. The overall experience was just okay to me. The manager was super friendly, but that was the highlight of this dining experience.

Yelp
Excellent that's all I have to say! From the hostess to the clean up everything was fantastic. We were seated immediately, they put us in a perfect place for an intimate anniversary dinner. My wife and I had the shrimp cocktail, split a Caesar salad, she had the prime rib and I had the bone in Rib eye, and we shared the Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, and lobster Mac n cheese (they delivered this by accident and only charged us for the mashed potatoes). Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted excellent. The wine steward suggested and excellent very reasonable wine to go with dinner and the three in a delicious brownie for dessert. This will be our go to place in the future. Thanks Cole's for an amazing meal.

Yelp
Cole's has been in Napa for years and is a favorite spot to eat. The steak is incredible and if you can sit outside it is very beautiful. Tye service is good and they are always attentive

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our five year wedding anniversary. As someone who grew up in Napa and working in the industry, I can whole heartedly say every single member of staff was incredibly delightful. I'm talking about everyone, even the team members that did not directly interact with our table. Watching the staff from when we arrived to as we left people were attentive, accommodating and really elevated the experience. Octavio was our server and he was wonderful. The dining room is exactly the same as it was five years ago, in a great way. It's a classic Napa experience and will always have a balance of history and character that is hard to come by. The food was great as well. I love the food, I do not love the prices. Specifically eating family style you can't resist wanting everything and then you loose your car payment on one hell of a dinner. There's a reason we haven't eaten here in five years. If you're looking for culinary innovation and fun hipster foodie gimmicks this is not the place. If you want timeless style and classic flavors in simple manner you've found a match. Have a steak and a cocktail or bottle of wine, bring someone you love, and enjoy a simple elegant experience, bring your piggy bank.

Yelp
The classic American steakhouse done right!! My wife and I dined here this past weekend to celebrate her birthday. Despite the fact we came on a cold, rainy night this place was bustling! We were promptly seated upstairs and had a few minutes to peruse the menu before our order was taken. We opted to split the Caesar salad which came with actual anchovies which was a nice touch and added the perfect amount of saltiness to cut the richness of the Caesar dressing. For mains my wife had the surf and turf which included a 7 oz petite filet and lobster tail. For myself, I ordered the 14 oz ribeye and opted to add the lobster tail as well. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our specifications....a perfect medium rare. The lobster tails were cooked exquisitely as well, not at all chewy or rubbery and paired with drawn butter. For sides we got the house special lobster mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. We found all the sides to be equally delicious. I always tend to judge a steakhouse by the sides because any steakhouse worth it's name should automatically know how to cook a steak. Whereas sides can be a hit or miss at times. They have an extensive wine list here albeit pricey. We opted to bring our own wine and pay the modest $35 corkage fee. We saw many other patrons that night doing the same. Service was great, our server Christop was attentive but not intrusive. Pacing of the meal was good as well, without long waits between courses nor feeling hurried or rushed throughout our meal. With it's solid fare and amiable service it's easy to see why Cole's chop house continues to be so highly rated and a top dining destination in Napa. We are definitely planning to return whenever we are looking to celebrate our next special occasion!! Pro tip: Cole's sits patrons indoors and outdoors under a heated tent. If you don't want to be seated outdoors make sure to mention that when making your reservation. We sat outdoors earlier that day for a wine tasting and froze our asses off.

Yelp
Updating my review for one of our very favorite places - Cole's Chop House in Napa. We have been loyal patrons of Cole's for years, and recently celebrated our 10-year anniversary there. As always, we had a wonderful time, and Cole's made our celebration extra special. To me, one of the hallmarks of a really well-run restaurant is consistency year after year, and Cole's is always consistent in the excellence of both food and - especially - service. Eric and his entire team are superb. The vibe is warm and welcoming. The food is fantastic. If, like me, you don't eat much, or any, red meat, you will still find excellent options. The salmon and lobster tail are both delicious options. I usually opt for the salmon - medium rare or medium - and my partner gets either a filet, or the beef Wellington; we share a Caesar salad, and spinach (in olive oil, not cream). We'll often finish with the potatoes au gratin for our own version of dessert. The food is always so good, without leaving us feeling too full. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Eric and the entire Cole's staff for all you do. When in Napa, pay them a visit, you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Steaks were grilled to perfection and portion is generous. Side dishes: Brussels sprouts, lobster mac & cheese, mushrooms, fries paired nicely. Dessert: Creme brûlée, whiskey bread pudding and ice cream perfect way to end a meal. Our server was very explanatory - went over specials off the menu and helpful with the wine list . By the way, plenty of Napa wine selections. Love that the restaurant is in an historic building with a loft dining area. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seats as well.

Yelp
Food, drinks, and service are all absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an incredible evening in Napa.

Yelp
I've been here twice and so far it's been great both times. Every single item we tasted was so good. All the steaks cooked to perfection plus also seasoned so well. All the sides are good. Customer service is wonderful. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
We really had a great dinner here and will be back! The feel of this place was great. The service was honestly on point throughout. None of the Napa valley pretentiousness you can find in Napa, just friendly and efficient. The steaks were all seasoned and cooked to perfection! Two of us ordered ribeyes, one the Oscar style filet and one a lobster tail. Each was excellent. And then the prices. If you have been to a higher end staek house, the prices have gone through the roof. The prices were more reasonable here than expected. We are in the Walnut Creek area where prices are 30% to 50% higher. Easy parking at the public parking lot just east of the restaurant. It's in a great location to take a stroll around downtown Napa after dinner. We had a great night. Eric, the guy in charge, was great. When complimented about his team, he indicated they have most long term employees who they kept through the Covid. You can tell.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dinner at this place. We were a group of seven and we ordered some mushroom crostinis and oyster Rockefeller to start; followed by Caesar salad and New England clam chowder soup. I personally loved the soup. It was so tasty. We also ordered a few porterhouse steaks, and filet mignon Oscar style. The wine selection is fantastic plus dessert was amazing. I would recommend the bread pudding. I wish I didn't drink so much during the day because I was so full that I didn't get to finish my entrée but everything was just delicious. Service was good and the ambience was typical of a steakhouse . Overall, I would recommend his place, but make sure to make reservations for large parties.

Yelp
This was our first time here. Came to celebrate my husband's birthday! Nice ambiance and the food was tasty ! The whiskey bread pudding was very good and the lobster Mac and cheese were our favorite. Nice to have the owner come greet us that made us feel welcomed. A little pricey for us not to get a dessert on the house given we were celebrating a birthday. The couple next to us celebrated their wedding anniversary and too felt the same way.

Yelp
Cole's is a beautiful place to have dinner and the staff makes sure you're comfortable. This was the first time in a long time I saw the manager/boss come out and actually talk to their guest to make sure everything was well, it shows just how much they care. We were seated outside on their covered patio listening the rain fall and it was nice and cozy! The food was nothing special in my opinion, compared to other chop houses. It's on the more expensive side and it's worth trying for sure. The beef carpaccio has an overpower cheese crust that took over the flavor of the beef. The beef alone was delicious but I don't see how the entire cheese topping could've been eaten all as well without ruining the taste. I ordered the Black Angus Petit Filet Mignon (rare) and it was cooked perfectly. The sides we ordered were the asparagus and cauliflower dishes and sadly, those taste better than the 21 Day Dry-Aged New York Steak. When my boyfriend ordered it, our server said "great choice" and when the table next to us ordered it, their server mentioned and warned them that it had a gamey taste. If we were told that, we would've ordered something else because we aren't a fan of the gamey taste. Also we asked for it to be cooked medium rare... it was more on the well done side. These plate was the most expensive one we ordered and it was the most disappointing.

Yelp
What a warm and inviting atmosphere! The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was delicious! A bit pricey. Would come back.

Yelp
We came to Cole Chop House for my mom's birthday. From the hospitality when we came in all the way to our table was beyond belief. Alex is the best. This place has really good ambiance and everyone that works there is super nice.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best fine dining experiences we have ever had. We love having a gin martini to start our meal with a salad and then of course, we move onto either an incredible fish or filet mignon for dinner. The service is always top notch and the old Napa feel with the pictures of people who have visited in the past is a nod to the history of Cole's.

Yelp
Took hubby for a late Father's Day dinner as I wasn't feeling well on Father's Day. Very nice restaurant. Made a reservations in advance and was seated immediately upon arrival. I had a glass of red wine and hubby had an old fashion. For entrees I chose the 7oz filet mignon and he had surf and turf-fliet mignon and a lobster tail. Side dishes are served family style and it's definitely enough for 2-4 people. We took almost half home. The steaks were delicious and cooked exactly as asked (medium). The inside was very juicy and the outer skin was seared and crispy-yummy! The cauliflower was also tasty with garlic cream drizzled on top and the mashed potatoes were very creamy. We also always add horseradish to ours (a kick of heat is always a plus). You can opt to dine outdoors or insidr. We chose inside seating. They also have a bar area which we would try next time. Definitely recommended-great for a date night or if you're in the mood for delicious food.
