Nestled in Fort Greene, Colonia Verde offers a vibrant twist on Latin American cuisine with an airy greenhouse and a backyard perfect for easygoing brunches and adventurous dinners.
"This isn’t the best Latin American restaurant in Brooklyn, but it’s easily the best in this part of Brooklyn. Husband and wife team Felipe Donnelly and Tamy Rofe, duck confit tacos, pão de queijo burgers, clams al pastor, and lots of wine. The restaurant is especially reliable for brunch, serving options beyond the run-of-the-mill eggs and pancakes. The spot has lots of seating in its backyard-covered patio, warm enough no matter the season." - Emma Orlow
"Colonia Verde’s sausage and veggie parrillada is a giant platter of several types of sausages, veggies, dipping sauces, queso fundido, and arepas. The breakfast tacos, as well as the duck fried rice, are also great options as well. There is plenty of seating in the back for groups." - Eater Staff
"“I just discovered Colonia Verde and I only discovered it because it's next to Evelina and I went to Evelina and they didn't have room for me and I was like, ‘What am I gonna do?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, look at this little place. I've not been, but I'll go.’ Of course, it ruined my whole life. This shit is so good. Their menu is really good for a gluten-free girlie. Their shrimp tacos are unreal. The last time I went, I got the esquites, which is like a corn business situation. The shoestring sweet potato fries come with this aioli…I don't know what it is, but it’s kind of orange and it's quite thin. It’s so good. I could eat that aioli and those shoestring fries for the rest of my life. And then they also have a cast iron skillet coconut cake. It comes out hot as hell. It's delicious and it's sweetened with honey or something, so it's not terribly guilty, not too sweet. They've also got an indoor-outdoor business on their back patio, which is really sweet. And everyone's nice in there.”" - brennan carley
"Colonia Verde has a lot going for it: it’s probably the most fun restaurant in Fort Greene, it serves tequila cocktails and shrimp tacos with the softest tortilla swaddling, and the tables are large enough to fit everything you’ve ordered, which we hope includes the salted peewee potatoes with spicy mayo. The restaurant is like a well-decorated cave that sprawls through a couple of rooms and a greenhouse, finally opening onto a spacious garden decked out in string lights. They throw Sunday Asado here almost every month—essentially, a barbecue party for the neighborhood with guest chefs." - Willa Moore, Bryan Kim
