Combo A

I’m all about supporting businesses that are run by good people and Combination A is just that. Whichika, or “Witch” runs the place and he’s just an all-around nice guy. Super personable, I feel like he would be the kind of person that remembers your name, even if he hasn’t seen you in a while. The woman that made my plate was also sweet. The place is clean and very well taken care of. I got the combo A with orange chicken, Half chow mein half/ fried rice with the Garlic green beans, and a side of cream cheese wontons. I asked about a dish that I didn’t recognize out of curiosity, and they told me it was Chow Fun and were kind enough to include a little bit on my plate to try. Of course I had to pull over for a little palette cleanser on my way home lol and tried a bite, I will absolutely be ordering it next time I come! As I was paying, I noticed the “Abolish ICE” Sign on the register and knew I had made the right choice to give them my business. In our current climate, we should encourage each other to support small and local businesses that support human rights. I will absolutely be back now that I am living in Los Angeles again. I have officially found my new local Chinese restaurant❤️

I had Combo A on my list of places I wanted to visit for a few years now and we finally braved the 35 minite drive on a Friday night and it was absolutely worth it. They were out/low on a couple of the entrees but the kitchen was constantly replenishing so we did have to wait a bit for the orange chicken and the potatos and chicken but I am so glad we did. The orange chicken is my far the best I've ever had. Crispy and crunchy yet still meaty so big don't feel like all you ate was batter. The chicken and potatos were incredible as well. The potatoes were soft and coated in this sweet sauce along with the chicken that was coated in that same sauce and garlic. The chicken wings were WOW! We only got 3 peices but they were large wings. I loved the glass noodles as an option for the base and got half of that along with the chow mein and both were good. I also would like to say they had the best teriyaki chicken I have ever had and it takes a lot for me to say that as I am very particular with chicken. There's seating inside, we chose takeout. Please stop by, this place is incredible and well known for a reason!

Food was very delicious. It was my first time here and I had to try a little bit of everything. I absolutely loved the portions of Orange Chicken & Beef Broccoli. Our plates were overflowing with food and you definitely get your money’s worth. Super fast service. I was in and out of there in less than five minutes. I loved how friendly the staff was and how clean the establishment was. It’s a cute little spot in a plaza with plenty of parking. They also do phone orders so next time I will call in advance and have a quicker pickup time. I will definitely be coming back for their egg fried noodles and wings.

I want to share a brief story.. 2 years i came to this establishment and i was left unfulfilled. Something just felt off in the quality of food, Maybe it was an bad day but ultimately i ended up not returning until recently. If there ever is a redemption story for a business, THIS WOULD BE IT! 100 percent complete 180 over my last time here two years ago. The Food phenomenal, The Price , justified, The portions? GENEROUS. I was able to try enough food and even their Wonton Soup which was delightful to say the least. I even went ahead and grabbed their in house made Branded Chili Oil and was taken aback by the great profile of equal Flavor and Spice. Not to mention the excellent customer service i was provided with my family. I am now for sure a repeat customer officially , and take much Pride in this being my local Chinese Spot. Come one, come all. Redemption is HERE!!!

This place is a hidden gem the food is good and the service is nice. The plate we had was full and the price for 2 plates was 26. The only thing that's not great is the location. There is little to no parking and limited seating inside.

Came all the way from Minnesota to try this infamous Combo A. The combo A is a reliable staple here. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside simple but satisfying. The fried rice was flavorful and well balanced. The orange chicken stood out with its perfect crunch and a sauce that hit the right mix of sweet and tangy. We also got the Thai tea boba which was great! All this amazing food matched with outstanding service. Felt like I was with my own family. Thank you! 10/10 would come back again.

Returning to this spot felt familiar and joyful. We savored every bite while the Dodgers lit up the screen — great food, better vibes.

My girlfriend and I came in 15 minutes before close (which we felt horrible about but wanted to try before leaving town) and most of everything had been sold. The man at the counter offered to cook a fresh batch of orange chicken, which was very tasty with a perfect crunch to it. Outstanding service, delicious food, and great prices for LA. We were in the area and had to make the stop. Even though, we were not hungry for lunch yet. GWG recommended this place on TikTok. Boy was he spot on about this place. It's a must try if you are ever in the Echo Park area of LA. We had the orange chicken, BBQ pork aka char siu, chicken & potatoes, fried noodles, and egg rolls. It was so good that I wished I got another plate for more leftovers. The owner has thee best customer service skills in the business and was great at creating small talk. He found out that we came from the OC and it was our first time there. He gave us some of their fried chicken to try which he said that what they were known for. It was definitely tasty. The restaurant was clean and there's ample seating. Overall, this is a must try if you are ever in the area.

Came here while in LA when my husband and I were craving Chinese food. Restaurant is clean, with space to dine in. Orange chicken was excellent. Chow mein and rice are good as well. However, we did not like the broccoli beef or chicken with potatoes. Quality was poor, with the meat being really chewy and potatoes not fully cooked. Parking lot is very small, so you might need to find street parking.

quick/dirty panda express style chineese food. expect super huge portions, cheap food, low quality, oily, unhealthy.. but filling. if your goal is pure huger satiation, why not I guess.

I stopped eating Chinese food years ago, but I heard of this place and wanted to try it. It's different. The food is hot and fresh. The quality is noticeable. The vegetables are still crisp. They give you a lot of food and the price point for what you get, can't beat it! Must try: Spicy chicken and the orange chicken.

The server that helped me was extremely kind and patient despite me having so many questions and having no voice. He gave me all his recommendations. Inside was so nice and clean felt nice being there! The food taste amazing!

Wow, the hype is real! I ordered the combo A, (fried rice, chow mien, orange chicken & beef/broccoli. I got a can of soda and the total came out to $13 and some change. Price is great! and the food tastes good! Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day. But overall, its good, quick, and priced great. Check it out!

The Hype is real! I went here for the first time , so I will admit my rating might be a little premature. Per the recommendation of my friends, I decided to head over to Echo Park and hit this place up. Combo A is a true hole in the wall mom-n-pop Chinese take out. The first thing I noticed was how clean and spotless the interior was. Thats always a plus. I was greeted immediately by the owner(Wichhica) and he got me started with my order. I ordered the two item combo half/half with teriyaki chicken and beef and broccoli. The beef and broccoli was top tier. It was coated with a delicious sweet, tangy sauce. 5 stars Teriyaki chicken... out of this world! Fried rice- good not great Chow mein- just ok Egg roll- Nice and toasty and not greasy at all If you're looking for a solid Chinese takeout in the neighborhood, this is the place. I enjoyed chatting it up with the owner and hearing all the cool stories.

found this place on apple maps and i'm so glad i went! the man at the counter was soooo friendly and gave us recommendations. i got the orange chicken and beef and broccoli with chow mein. i really enjoyed everything and will be coming back! it was so cute and sooo worth the price. he even gave me a little sample of something else i wanted to try which i thought was so cool. didn't get any pics cause we were so hungry lol but def will be coming back!

We got this food delivered and it was better than we could ever expect! It's considered fast food chinese but it's some of the best local chinese food you can eat in East Hollywood. For takeout, their combo plates offer a lot of variety of meats and sides and they have a lot of stand out options. My favorite two options was the orange chicken and chow mein. This chow mein is the best I've ever had and it was very saucy and flavorful on its own. The orange chicken was crunchy but soft on the inside and tasted incredible. Their chow fun and garlic green beans were also really good and I would definitely order this again!

I'm on a search for a new fast food Chinese food spot because the one we used to go to changed management or something but it's just not the same... with that being said, I've been ordering from Chinese food places that pop on my Yelp to find the one to replace our old one. This one was one of the highest ratings. I'm going to review each item I ordered individually and give an overall rating. My review is solely on Combo B with chow mein, orange chicken, broccoli beef and bbq pork plus strawberry boba drink My least favorite was the bbq pork. It is tender unlike other places , which is a plus but the taste wasn't to my liking. There's a spice that I can't wrap my head around that's just way too overpowering for me. Similar to cinnamon but not quite. I will give this 2/5 stars because the tenderness was a big plus and maybe some people enjoy that overpowering flavor that I personally didn't. This one just didn't make the cut for my taste buds Orange chicken has the perfect crunch but I couldn't finish it because it's more on the sweeter side. The crunch was very satisfying for me. I know some people don't like their chicken crunchy but I do. I give it 3.5/5 it was just too sweet after a couple of bites. I will order it again. The beef and broccoli was VERY SATISFYING! The broccoli also had the perfect crunch to it. The broccoli tasted healthy and not overly saucy. I think it was the perfect taste for me. Whenever I order beef and broccoli, I tend to set the beef aside and just each the broccoli because it's too chewy. This one tasted delicious. It was tender just like the pork and it had a good flavor to it. It was the first thing I finished. I give this one a 4.5/5 Chow mein has been the best I'd ever have. It tasted freshly made. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Sometimes chow mein is over cooked at other places but here it was perfect. The flavor was amazing. This one was another favorite item. The strawberry boba tastes good it reminds me of a strawberry nesquick drink from when I was younger but instead of milk, they added water and boba. It's refreshing but has a powdery aftertaste. I give it 4/5 Overall, this was good. I have tried many places and this is one of the good ones. I give it a 4/5 score because of the bbq pork and how sweet the orange chicken was for my liking but I will order again and change the menu and rate accordingly. Compared to other fast Chinese food locations, this one is indeed one of the best ones I've tried in terms of freshness and items being cooked to perfection and not overly cooked.

Quick service and solid food. A great option for a quick bite to eat. Service was very fast, and the orange chicken was pretty good. Not a bad price for it either. Overall a positive experience and a great option for when you are in a rush.

Some of the best Chinese food I've had thus far in the city! Comfort food that is actually delicious. I don't know why it's so hard to find good Chinese food in LA, but Combo A (hehe funny name) achieves this unattainable goal. Their cheese rangoons were crispy and fully filled with delicious queso. Like I'm talking packed with the creamy goodness sans crabbies. And the flavor on the shell was so phenomenal. Honestly, probably better flavor than any place I've ever had them. These things are legit at $10 for 8 pieces. The orange chicken gave me Panda vibes...and your girl loves PE. Stop judging me! Again, nice and crisp, well sized pieces, plus it came with fried rice. I did the two entree plate so also had the BBQ Pork at $14.55 for the two entree plate. Everything was incredibly solid. Also dipped into their fried chicken which was decent but I probably wouldn't get it again. It was pretty basic but also was only $6! So maybe I will take another dive into that pool because I like a deal. All in, Combo A is the best Chinese food in LA! And their prices are awesome.

I stopped by here for a little get together. I initially planned on getting donuts from the same plaza, but decided to check out this place first! I'm so glad I did! I ended up getting a order of the wontons to-go. The person at the front of house was very nice! :) Once I got my order, I left to go to Elysian. I didn't eat at all day, so I ate a wonton and finished the rest before I got there! So I turned around and got another order cause they were so good!

Good enough! I used to order here regularly enough because a good Chinese food stop was scarce in taco echo park town. But over the year it's gone from a special staple stop to mediocre verrrrrry salty stop with a fancy fun logo. Sorry. It's gone downhill.

Came here for the first time last night, and it was okayyyyy. $11 plus some change for two items, rice and chow mien. Was a bit on the pricey side. They did have a couple vegetarian options: egg noodles, green beans, tofu. The fried rice was meh, the chow mien was a little better. The tofu and green bees were good. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Parking lot is smalllll. Best to walk here or to bring a person so you can run in while they wait for you.

Customer service gets ZERO stars from me. The elderly employees are beyond rude and disrespectful. I Went in at 7:30pm, so maybe they were tired from a long day... still no excuse to be nasty to customers. On a positive note, I have ordered from this restaurant on multiple occasions with door dash and have came to the restaurant 3 different times. Usually there is a younger employee who is always personable, professional, and does his best to provide exceptional customer service. So it's really unfortunate that I have to leave this review about this establishment, but my experience tonight was unbelievable and needs to be shared. When I walked in there was one couple ordering before me. The place wasn't busy yet for some reason the lady who was taking my order was rude, pushy, and rushing as though there a whole line waiting. She was huffing and puffing, yelling at me and in so many words saying hurry up, while I was trying to order. Ultimately, the combo that I got came with 3 entrees. The box they put the food in has two small compartments and one large compartment. Some people do not mind all of their food being piled on top of each other like garbage, unfortunately I'm not one of those people. I do not like certain flavors to mix. I do not want bbq sauce from bbq pork to mix with my beef and broccoli and alter the entire flavor of the dish. This sent the employee into an uproar. Her and other employees yelled and screamed and even went as far as showed me the people that ordered prior to me's food saying "this is how combo B is! Not in separate containers!" I explained to them calmly that I understood that and would gladly pay for an extra box for them to place my 3rd entree in. They then stated "ok it will be extra charge!" I let them know again that I was okay with paying extra, and asked how much? They yelled and screamed that they don't separate the items again, ultimately my husband asked "how much is the box so we can pay you guys?" They told us "$5.00 more!" I literally had to giggle because $5.00 more for a styrofoam box was crazy. Scolding me for the way I prefer my food was diabolical. Opening another customers whole box to try to peer pressure me into accepting something that I didn't want, was nasty work as well. Ultimately I made the decision that I will never ever spend a dollar of mine at this establishment again. The customer doesn't have to always be right, but it's our food... if we want it a certain way the choice is ours... especially if we are willing to pay extra for it. This is a free country, you don't get to dictate what people are paying for.

Combo A! Oh how I miss you! I completely forgot I started my review. Anyway, I love Combo A. I always stop when coming back home to Echo Park. I live in Arizona and miss good Chinese fast food. The place is small with only 3-4 tables but their service is good. The food is delicious with great portions. I will definitely be back when visiting Echo park.

This review is long overdue! When we moved to Hollywood from San Diego in 2018, one of the first things we thought was, "Where is our new go-to Chinese spot going to be?" After sifting through Yelp, I came across Combo A, and I'm so glad I did. The place has an old school vibe and I love that. Parking is never an issue and if I ever can't find parking up front, I'll park at the Little Caesar's lot and walk over. The prices are unbeatable, seriously. The portions are incredible and it's enough to even split amongst two people. The quality is always consistent as well--uff. The chow mein especially is my favorite. Reminds me of the hole in the wall Chinese restaurants I grew up eating at. The service is great! Don't know what people on here are complaining about honestly. I feel people can be so sensitive, or expect fine dining service. Or they just don't understand that our elderly Asians tend to be more blunt than Americans. The owner Wichicca (I'm so sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) is awesome. He and my husband hit off and he always takes great care of our order. As an Asian American myself it honestly makes me so happy and proud to see others like myself running a respectable small business with quality food/product/services. Here's to wishing many, many more successful years for Wichicca and his team!

For " fast food" chinese I think they are great. I love that the chow mein are thick noodles and they're always chewy, never gummy or overcooked. Everything always seems really fresh. The only thing I could complain about is that I wish they had at least one vegetarian side dish that was a mixed veggie as their vegetarian options in general are very limited . But I guess that's maybe a little nitpicky because their food really is fantastic . Their boba is reasonably priced and pretty tasty a little on the sweet side but what boba isn't... I highly recommend them. I think they're a great small business to support

The service at this place is always amazing! I love the food here! It's always fresh. I would suggest getting their cookies too. They're delicious! Sadly I don't live close by but every time I'm in L.A, I always eat here. You won't regret trying this place if you haven't been here before!

Best Chinese we've tried in a long time. Will order again. Not only it's not greasy but also has more genuine flavor than what we've been having.

Had been looking for a chinese restaurant with a good fried chicken/fried rice combination but seems that this does not exist on the West Coast. This place was recommended online so decided to check it out. Although not what I was ultimately looking for it is still fantastic. If I lived in the area I can see myself going here once a week. Ordering was quick and seamless. Interior is clean and no frills. We ordered the fried chicken and fried rice to go and the portions sizes are great for the price. Chicken was perfectly seasoned without being overtly greasy or salty. Fried rice was enough for four meals and absolutely delicious.

This place always stays consistent with their quality portions and service. I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this place. One of our favorite places when we know we're hungry and ready to eat. Some of our favorite items are sweet and spicy wings and the bbq pork.

My boyfriend and I found this place on google and was curious if the pictures matched the food IRL and can confirm that do and taste as good as they look! The bbq pork is the best I have had yet and the chow mein is my favorite as well. It's comfort Americanized Chinese food. Nothing to write home about but it is a neighborhood institution.

I live pretty close to this place, surprised that I had not tried it yet. Nonetheless, it's comforting, quick, to-go Chinese food without feeling too too guilty about heavy oil or sodium (compared to something like Panda Express). Higher priced, but that is expected as I can also tell they use higher quality ingredients. It seems to be ran by a family, which is always nice -- though I could be totally wrong. I do love supporting small local businesses though, so power to them if that is the case. My girlfriend and I both ordered Combo A (comes with two items plus rice or chow mein). We both opted for chow mein. I ordered kung pao chicken and tofu with bok choy as the second side. My girlfriend ordered orange chicken and chicken wings as her side. We also both ordered a soup. I ordered hot and sour and she ordered wonton soup. I must say the soups are very big, and you probably won't finish with your meal but it makes for a nice leftover meal. My favorite item was the orange chicken and kung pan which had a nice kick to it. The noodles were okay, I do love that they were not salty like most other Chinese to-go spots. As far as soup goes, I enjoyed my girlfriend's chicken wonton soup more than my hot and sour, perhaps because my hot and sour had too many pieces of chicken in it. I prefer the chunks of tofu so perhaps next time I will just order it without chicken. All in all, pretty solid food and extremely nice + attentive staff. Check them out!

I come here with my family and the service is always the best . The food tastes great especially the one shown on the picture. Steven is always fast in taking care of his customers .

I don't know how this place has good reviews. Everything was disappointing so much that I wanted to barf it out. Even the Thai tea tasted diluted. The orange chicken had no chicken and was almost charred and drenched in the sugary sauce. I spit every piece out when I realized none of them had chicken. The chow mein egg noodles were so starchy they were grainy. The cream cheese wontons were so doughy it was almost like they baked pillsbury dough and stuffed Costco cream cheese with chives in it. Not crispy and flaky at all. The BBQ pork was the only edible dish but once again the pork slices drenched in sugary sauce you couldn't taste the meat because it was so crystallized. The green beans were so salty. The fried rice was too bland. The only dish I would buy again is the garlic fried chicken wings. They were the only dish that wasn't over or under seasoned. I would get them with white rice though. Even so I don't think I'll come again. I wish them the best of luck.

This place has perfected American Chinese food. Wings are perfectly done, all the sides are delicious and it's a great deal. One of my favorite spots.

Mid. I honestly didn't like the food. I'm giving 3 stars because the workers were so kind and quick and the place was really clean. The egg rolls were good, the chow mein was good, but everything else tasted mid. I was really looking forward to it because I saw so many videos on tiktok but the barbecue pork is honestly dry and the orange chicken had no flavor.

No nonsense and amazing food and service. A total gem in echo park. When you crave a mom and pop feel and don't want to go to corporate big box Panda Express. Also the food. Just know their bbq pork and chowmein is top tier. They also have these fried chicken wings. Pair that with some fried rice, now you'll totally be immobile so take it to go so you don't get public food coma and be a spectacle. Wish I'd got here sooner but it's ok to be fashionably late haha. This is one of thee best places I've eaten at this year!

I'm giving this place 2 stars why ? First time I got rice & chow mein teriyaki chicken & BBQ pork && egg rolls I was so excited to try because I saw videos on tik tok let me tell you I was disappointed! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the BBQ pork is actually good !!! Today I was by the area and said ok I'll try again maybe I just didn't go on a good day? Chow mein is stiff and thick with no flavor what's so ever eggs rolls are hard and soft at the same time NOT crunchy && i saw everything on there did not look appetizing so I went for the BBQ pork again very good I would come just for a small order of BBQ pork maybe ! Well I'm very disappointed I was actually hoping for this spot to be my favorite but I was let down

I just want to start off by saying that Panda Express is my go to fast food Chinese restaurant. It is just nostalgic to me since I have been having it since I was a kid. I was sort of craving it today when I realized I had Combo A on my Yelp bookmark page for a while. So of course I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered the spicy wings and orange chicken with chow mein instead of fried rice. My gf ordered bok choy with tofu and spicy kung pao chicken as her second entree. Both of our meals were enjoyable. I also ordered the won ton soup which they prepare as you order because it took them a bit to serve and package that one up for me. I am more than okay with this because the veggies in it did taste very fresh. The wings were absolutely delicious and crunchy, as was the orange chicken. Ask for hot sauce on the side and you are good to go! Next time I will try different things on the menu as everything behind the glass counter looked tasty. The gentleman who took our order was very kind as well.

I grew up in the neighborhood and was visiting my mom. Driving by and wanted to support local small business. Got there at 10am and their food was fresh and hot! They had a crispy sauced chicken wing, must get - it was tangy and garlicky, the sauce was amazing. I love their chow Mein, it's the thick noodles the way I like my Chinese fast food! Been around the neighbors for years and hope they stick around because so much has changed around echo park!

We come here very often, and the food is good/okay , however the costumer service is not great. We always order a Thai tea with boba and usually it's okay, can't complain. But today when we got our Thai tea it tasted like straight up sugar and syrup. We took one sip from it and couldn't have another. That's how sweet it was. We went inside to see if it could be made again and the lady said no because she always does the Thai tea the same and there's no way it was different. We weren't asking for our money back. We just asked for it to be remade. We had taken one sip. She was very rude about it. We could have asked for our money back but just left and threw it out because I don't think they believed us. If a costumer tells you something's off maybe listen?

This is my first visit since 2019 and I can confidently say that I won't be back. I remembered that my past couple of orders were tasty. Fast forward to today, I just received my UberEats order and it is incorrect. Definitely a bummer since I was looking forward to that missing item. Not only is the item missing, it was replaced with something else that I do not eat. The other two items that I ordered are less than appetizing. I was able to get part of my payment returned (as an app credit, not refund) through UberEats. Thanks I guess! The portion sizes compared to other, tastier Chinese takeout places is on the smaller side. If you do decide to visit here, definitely go in person so at least you'll receive what you paid for. Just moved to the area and was looking for a quick local spot to eat with the homie and Wich set us up with the Combo A (if you didn't get it at first I hope you get it now). The Orange chicken is crispy saucy and tender, the broccoli beef is fresh snappy and not overly salty. Their noodles and fried rice is the perfect canvas to carry the weight of the glory of the other sides. The food is as dope as their branding man. They don't fuck around with their food and they know what they are about. This is a quintessential LA. Combo A will be the only Chinese take out I'll be eating for as long as I live around here.

We came here after watching the guy from TikTok Greg rave about this place. Me and my gf both agreed it is hands down the best "hole in the wall" Chinese food we've ever eaten. Our favorite thing were the wings, & chow fun (not sure if that's how it's spelled). The bbq pork and orange chicken were also really good and fresh tasting. No skimpy portions and very clean. We'll be back :)
