The 38 Best Restaurants in Sydney, Australia | Eater

"Yu Ozone developed the menu at her Japanese cafe in response to her own allergies, and everything, including the eggplant teriyaki sushi rolls and the sweet potato doughnuts, is vegan and gluten-free. She took six years to develop an eggless, wheatless tempura batter, which she now showcases in her lunch set of crisp vegetables seasoned with matcha salt. Best for: A vegan food crawl down Newtown’s vegan mile, which is dotted with meat-free eateries, such as Le Gourmand (a plant-based patisserie), Gigi (an acclaimed pizzeria) and Golden Lotus (a popular Vietnamese vegan diner)." - Lee Tran Lam

So amazing! The food is delicious and made right to order. The staff are sooooo kind! I just moved to Sydney and the waitress talked to me for a while and told me about all of the vegan places in the area. It was great to get to know her a little and hear about her life in Japan and how they make their food! Amazing atmosphere and kind people making great dishes :)

Fantastic vegan food, however unfortunately due to how popular this place is, of you go later in the afternoon expect them to sell out especially on a weekend. I had the tempura veggie noodle and it was amazing. Iced matcha was exactly how expected it to be. The menu looks so fantastic, I wish I had go there earlier.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Australia! Absolutely delicious! Really fresh ingredients made into a beautifully well-balanced meal. If I lived in Sydney, I’d definitely be a frequent visitor! The staff were exceptionally friendly. Highly recommend! Oh and it’s all coeliac safe and gluten free!

I absolutely loved the speciality refined sugar free drinks, especially the raw cacao drink. The food itself was delicious too - the curry was filling and tasted amazing. The owner was also lovely and checked up on us. My only complaint is how pricey the food is.

Matcha latte with tiger milk was so nice and had a smooth texture. I loved it so much that I came back the very next day for another latte and tried the food. Everything was great, fresh with good quality. Staff are all very polite and friendly too.

I could not overstate how lovely this place is - the most authentic veg Japanese I have had outside of Japan, every single dish is a treat! They have balanced their flavours, our favourites were the katsu curry, and the red miso & tempura onigiri plate. The drinks are also amazing, with lovely organic genmaicha and matcha powder which they also sell. Staff were LOVELY, I could not recommend coming here more.

If you're looking for a healthier Japanese food then this place is for you. They make their own noodles, sauces etc from scratches, they're gluten free and organic products. I tried their veggie tempura noodles for lunch - crispy, umami packed-broth and completely gluten free. Best to be early, food here sold out early.

I had the pleasure of visiting Comeco Foods, and it truly felt like a mini-escape to Kyoto. The entirely gluten-free and vegan menu was a delightful surprise. The dishes were remarkably authentic and bursting with flavor. The emphasis on healthy, gut-friendly food was evident, and the pickled vegetables were a lovely touch. However, the wait times were a notable drawback. There seemed to be a disjointed workflow in the kitchen, with dishes being prepared and delivered to tables in a manner that caused delays. My sister finished her dish before mine arrived. Focusing on one table at a time would greatly improve efficiency and allow customers to finish their meals in a timely manner. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely return. The vegan donuts were an absolute highlight – divine! Overall, Comeco Foods offers a unique and delicious dining experience that's well worth a visit.
