We got seated immediately in a Tuesday night. Our waiter had broken English but it went well. We started with the King Crab stuffed mushrooms which were smaller than expected and a little too salty (for my taste) I tried it all plates my family got, Country fried steak with fried and coleslaw. Turkey and Dressing with Fruit and Fried Okra(Turkey was my dish and the best one out of the 3) . Salmon with Cucumber salad and German potatoes/fries. They even had a kids menu so family friendly! (Just no coloring pages/crayons)

Google
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Evansville. I’ve went three times, and each time I ordered something different. Everything was delicious. The dining area is a nice rustic feel inside and there’s a seating area out front. The waitresses/waiters were nice enough and kind of attentive. Can’t wait to return and try another dish!

Google
Good vibes. The atmosphere is just like the name. Comfortable, but classy. First time at a cross-eyed cricket establishment and I can say I’m impressed. Todd is super genuine and that’s so nice to see coming from such a conservative area to here. I came here looking for a good time, and the good times just keep on rolling! Got to try to strawberry butter! So good! Good food and good fun start with Comfort!

This afternoon, we were served by Mr. Collins M! His service superb! Today was my birthday (albeit unannounced) this service left an amazing impression on me. He accommodated my requests of pancakes instead of toast or biscuit and sweet potato fries instead of hash browns with my Corned beef has meal. He was very prompt with his service and we did not have to wait very long to receive our drinks and food. He was also very fun! And thorough making sure we got the correct food and checking up on us at appropriate times! Thank you again Collins!! My partner and I had an amazing time :)

Google
Super cute place inside and out. Came here for breakfast and was rewarded with an incredibly friendly waitress and a full belly. The portions are so big we had to split them. Highly recommend.

Google
French Kiss breakfast. Very good. We like the atmosphere - it's quiet in the mornings and nice to walk downtown. Food is always good and coffee is good too. We mostly go here for breakfast, but I've been here a couple of times for dinner, and it was great also.

Google
This is one of our favorite places to eat. We don’t live around this area, but every time we come visit family we have to stop here to eat. I love the grilled salmon, it is definitely one of the best grilled salmon’s I have ever had. The rolls with the strawberry butter is also amazing.

Google
Megan provided awesome service to match the literally amazing food. We stopped by on a whim for breakfast. It was the best we have had. We will return. Do yourself a favor. Try the Bread Pudding French Toast. It was CRAZY GOOD

Yelp
Me and my family ate here today and Andrew was our server. He was amazingly kind, polite, great manners and just all around great Server! We will be back because of him!!

Yelp
My wife and I went there on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the lower level. Our seats were in the middle where everyone had to walk around us to go upstairs. We kept waiting to at least get our drink order taken....twenty minutes later I'd had enough and proceeded upstairs to the check in desk to voice my displeasure. He was the one that seated us. He presented us with a $50 gift card along with several apologies. We left and never came back. Gave the give card to my son in law.

Yelp
If you ever crave homecooking while in Evansville, stop by here. The food was really good and filling. I had the Chicken and Noodles with Green Beans. The homemade roll with the strawberry butter was a nice surprise. Next time, I will make sure to save room for dessert.

Yelp
First time! I was brought here by a group a friends who had nothing but wonderful things to say, so I was very excited to get a taste. I had the fried catfish, sweet potato fries, Mac & cheese, and a side salad. The catfish was good. It was fried well, and the texture was nice. However, the flavor was more mild than I would usually prefer. Still good, just didn't really have the signature "catfish" taste to it. The sweet potato fries tasted good, but weren't crispy at all. They were soft on the outside, and most could bend in half without breaking. Would've liked a tiny dusting more of salt, but the flavor itself was satisfactory. The Mac & cheese was also okay. Not bad, but certainly didn't taste like homemade comfort style Mac & cheese. The cheese tasted heavily professed and was giving me the idea of velveeta. It was more cafeteria style Mac & cheese than comfort food style, but again, not bad; just not really what I expected. Our service was wonderful. All of the staff was kind and communicative. I really wanted to try a cheesecake, but they were unfortunately completely sold out of all of their cheesecakes. I will certainly come back when I am in town again, and I look forward to trying more on their menu. I feel like there are probably some real gems on there that I didn't get to try this time around.

Yelp
One of the best meals I have ever had easily. Very impressive in pretty much every way! Service was very fast as well and it was a very nice and quiet atmosphere. High recommends.

Yelp
What a perfect place to celebrate my son's birthday. We were seated downstairs. Our server was simply impeccable! So willing to make our dining experience a pleasant one!!! She catered to our every need. Our food was OUTSTANDING! The pineapple mimosa was a wonderful treat! Another table was celebrating a birthday, so we celebrated and sang Happy Birthday together!!! Probably one of the best dining experiences I've had!

Yelp
So many items to choose from plus everyone in our party of got something different and we all loved what we got. The waitress was very friendly and checked on us a number of times. I love the decor of the restaurant, it's both homie and relaxing.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZINGLY good!!! The chicken tenders were tasty and the fries hit the spot man, service did take a while but the wait was worth it! Would recommend 89/100
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, drinks and service. Went for lunch and had a Buffalo Chicken sandwich. It is tasty and big. Had a good selection of drinks.

Yelp
Our dinner out with friends was a highlight of our visit to Evansville. The staff was extremely attentive and accommodating. We didn't just one server -- but two! And the food was delicious! We will return on our next visit to the city.

Yelp
This place is a great choice for a cozy brunch in Evansville. The place was pretty busy during regular breakfast weekend hours, so that has to be a good sign! Full of quirky decor and interesting food options! An egg's Benedict on a fried green tomato is an innovative idea! However, I felt like it was missing a bread component, the portion felt a little small without it. I was glad I ordered the biscuits and strawberry butter, which were delicious! The omelets are huge and full of toppings!

Yelp
Food - is simply delicious-the banana pudding French toast OMG this is a must order. The location is convenient, it's downtown. Staff is friendly

Yelp
The reviews and photos make this place look amazing. They don't do it justice. We were here for a family dinner on the Sunday before Christmas and we had a lovely experience. The ambiance is great and we love the eclectic décor, especially the lighting fixtures and the metal cross-eyed cricket riding a bicycle mounted on the wall. The natural-edged wood tables are beautiful. We had a variety of entrees and sides - filet, pork chops, and fried chicken, all of which were excellent. There are three types of gravy options for the mashed potatoes, three types of fries (French, American, and German) and multiple other side options. The green beans are truly old-school and delicious. The creamed corn was very good, as were the mashed potatoes and fries. The portions are HUGE. Prepare to take leftovers home. I have rarely seen such beautifully prepared pork chops and they were excellent. The steaks were perfectly prepared, and the fried chicken was light, crispy, and got a rave review. Our server, Niah, did an outstanding job - she was attentive, friendly, got the smallest details right (I like extra ice in my water and my dad likes his water room temperature), etc. The old-fashioned was excellent. My dad is very particular about this classic drink and Comfort nailed it. We all loved it. This downtown Evansville gem is our new go-to.

Yelp
The food was delicious---I was eating so forgot to take pics! The catfish was spot on--so much food! The rolls were excellent! Service and decor were fabulous--what a gem!

Yelp
I attended a private event on the fourth floor in the "Upper Room" Grand Ballroom. What a wonderful event space! Upon entry, many of the guests complemented the chandeliers and overall rustic yet elegant design of the space. It would make for a a great wedding reception venue. The catered food was just okay - primarily fried foods and sliders. My only note is that it was not wheelchair accessible and required going up four flights of stairs. Per their website, it looks like elevator access is coming soon, but not in place as of March 2024.

Yelp
For our girlfriend breakfast out, we chose Comfort. I've not been there for quite awhile but remember liking their breakfast. We got there just as it opened at 9 am. I ordered the Veggie Skillet with German fries. The skillet also includes biscuits and gravy. I passed on the gravy. The portions are ample and seasoned perfectly. Our server was attentive, the place was clean, and the meals arrived quickly. We'll go back there again for sure.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Love the southern modern decor. Waitress was very friendly and great at answering our questions. I had the chicken and dumplings with fried cabbage and Mac n cheese everything tasted great. My hubby got the Buffalo sandwich and really liked it. Portions are big. I also had the pineapple mimosa which was very good treat. The sweet tea is trie southern sweet sweet tea just the way my hubby likes it. We will be back.

Yelp
What an awesome surprise! We were in town for a basketball tournament recently and came across this little gem of a restaurant in Evansville, and we were so impressed with its eclectic "shabby chic" atmosphere and hometown food. It was delicious. We had a super sweet and attentive server, who never let our glasses go empty and was very happy to make suggestions about the menu choices. She did not disappoint! We loved the strawberry butter with popover rolls!!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything about this place is great! The salmon was cooked to perfection and the service was absolutely incredible
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Food was hot and flavorful. The menu options made it hard to choose but I think anything you have will be great. Our hostess was friendly and our waitress awesome. Coffee never dropped below a half cup. Atmosphere and ambiance was warm and inviting. Tables and chairs cool and comfortable. Highly recommend
google avatar

Anne A.

Yelp
Very, very overpriced. Burger overcooked and burnt on the outside. No dressing of any kind on the Turkey Club sandwich-very dry. Cashier brought back incorrect change from bill. This was corrected.
google avatar

Melinda B.

Yelp
wonderful experience! Food was wonderful service top-notch. We are repeat customers and love it here.

Staley S.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to eat when we are in Evansville. Food is always so good. We will continue to come back.

Richard J.

Yelp
The best breakfast I've enjoyed in a long time. The biscuits were PERFECT. Denver omelet was exactly right. Service was on point. Can't recommend it highly enough. And priced reasonably. I'll be back often. Amazing on all point.

Yelp
A very good venue here at this place. Right downtown made it easy for us to get to the Ford Center and watch the show. Excellent drinks and food.

Ted J.

Yelp
Ricky was an EXCELLENT server. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was fantastic! Gorgonzola- pear salad, blackened catfish, German fried potatoes and the best-ever cream corn! Will be back as often as possible. Even had great cheesecake for a birthday treat!!! Thanks Comfort!!

Regina M.

Yelp
I was hoping for a decent experience, instead I got a brand new server that hadn't mastered the menu yet. I spent $30 for one person. I had a veggie omelette with ham and a side of bacon for my dog. They use American cheese in the $13 omelette, which I feel like that's blasphemy! I was up charged for egg whites and ham. I was told I had option said potatoes so o chose hashbrowns. They were burnt and NOT part of the meal . I was charged separately, but they took that off. I chose bacon because they said a side of chicken would be $13!!!!! I am travel all over the country and this $30 breakfast should have been one of the best I have ever had for this price. Sadly, I'd give it 2 stars. Go to Dennys It's cheaper

Yelp
Bryce at The Collective is the BEST! This place may be Evansville's best kept secret. Off Main Street, take the flight of stairs up to The Collective and ask for Bryce. He'll make sure you have everything you want for the perfect evening out.
google avatar

Doug K.

Yelp
Meal was fast-food average in taste and presentation. Vegan and vegetarian choices were highly limited - nearly non-existent.

Angela H.

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing service, and reasonable prices! Megan was an outstanding server! Try the Buffalo chicken tenders - they are the best around. And don't get me started on the rolls and strawberry butter.....wow!!!!

Mary F.

Yelp
Delicious food and Jocelyn V was an excellent server. I couldn't decide what to order and her recommendation was perfect!
google avatar

De'Laka B.

Yelp
Started with a peach Bellini and vodka berry. Peach Bellini was the best drink. We ordered two breakfast scrambles (veggie and chorizo). Ended with bread pudding French toast. Everyone within the restaurant wanted to know about the French toast as it sizzled on the skillet with fruit on top. Melt in your mouth. Would def come back.

Myrian V.

Yelp
First time there and I enjoyed it. Nice environment. Good cocktails and food. Everyone appeared pleasant.

Joshua C.

Yelp
I love going to Comfort when I am here for work. The vibe is comfortable and welcoming. I sat at the bar downstairs and Tosha is very personable and accommodating. She sings to the songs in the background while cleaning glasses and makes drinks for the customers. Jocelynn is funny too! I always get the fillet with the stuffed mushrooms for an app, but next time I venture out on the menu. I will definitely be coming back!

Jerry B.

Yelp
Have been there for lunch or brunch several times when I visit the city. Great menu choices, sizable portions, well-served. Experienced wait staff. Can get a trifle noisy, but won't drown out conversation. I like it a lot.

None C.

Yelp
So disappointing-especially after hearing good things! Took a long time friend visiting from out of town for breakfast. The waitress was very poor- no silverware, no drink follow up, no meal follow-up. The turkey sausage gravy had a very un-appetizing shade of yellow-too gross to eat! The bacon was not crisp-but cold as were the eggs. Everything was obviously not freshly prepared but taken from their earlier buffet? Definitely not returning! Definitely sub-par. Sticking with Nellie's- if you want a HOT fresh, reasonably priced and generous breakfast! Really cannot recommend this establishment in any way!

Ammie K.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch while visiting Evansville. The ambiance in this place is awesome -- very welcoming and friendly! Service was amazing! My spinach and chicken salad with hot bacon dressing was PERFECT! There are so many amazing things on the menu that I wish I could have tried but I was looking for a lighter lunch option and the salad did not disappoint! The raspberry mule was a bit sweeter than I would prefer but not enough to deter my 5-star review! And, if you would have told me that strawberry butter was something I needed to try, I would have told you that you were crazy, but being that it was a bonus to the meal, I figured I'd give it a shot! So glad I did! Delicious!!

Yelp
We decided to eat here on Thanksgiving with family. So glad we did The meal was fabulous! Very festive too. Because of following Covid safety guidelines, instead of a buffet, everything was brought to the table, and then guests could ask for whatever else they wanted to eat beyond the initial first plate. Our server went above and beyond; was friendly, attentive and worked hard to see that we had everything we needed. The server even told a few jokes and kept us entertained. The food was all homemade and delicious! Cooked to perfection! Seasoned very well. My favorite items were the roast beef, corn, sweet potato casserole and the chicken and dumplings. This is an excellent place for your Thanksgiving meal. Highly recommend eating here but make reservations. We had reservations so didn't have to wait to be seated.

Yelp
Bread Pudding French Toast absolutely blew my mind. It is a must have. Do yourself a favor and experience the magic

Brian S.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance and service at this nicely located restaurant on main which had plenty of options for breakfast lunch and dinner. Walking in there was a very delicious Alma.Permeating is permeating the hostess stand. I tried the veggie skillet with german potatoes and a pear and gorgonzola salad. Both were great, but I wish that there were more plant based options.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
If you're looking for some good comfort food, this is place. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly crispy but not greasy. The Mac n Cheese was excellent. And Coke slaw was tangy. Great service and nice family atmosphere.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
Neat place my first time visiting I had the chef's salad it would be better if served in an over size bowl. Nothing would stay on the plate. Ut it was delicious.
google avatar

Ski K.

Yelp
Very mid. Service was slow. Slow to ask for drinks/meal, and had to ask for the complementary bread after 40 minutes of sitting. All of my parties food arrived cold and the food was bland. For the expensive price we expected better. Not worth it.
google avatar

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant atmosphere is lovely staff is friendly and efficient. The food is always good!
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was great. Went for lunch and had the pear salad with salmon. I'd definitely eat there again.

Yelp
This place was a huge surprise. We stopped here on our way back to southern illinois and didn't want to have fast food. We googled and this place looked interesting, so we gave it a try . All I can say is I absolutely loved it! I ate every bite. Absolutely delicious. The employees there are so pleasant and genuinely want you to have a great experience. Mary, our waitress, was attentive and offered recommendations as did 'Miss Lee'. I had the turkey with stuffing and my cousin had the meatloaf. I have nothing but great things to say. It exceeded my expectations. The rolls with the berry butter were delicious! The sweet tea was fresh. The turkey was so tender with wonderful flavor as was the fluffy, perfectly seasoned stuffing. I would drive over an hour just so I could have this meal again. Do yourself a "flavor" and try it!
google avatar

Haley A.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for brunch! Located downtown, never have a problem finding parking either. The atmosphere is a little hard to pinpoint. Kind of like modern farmhouse meets diner? We came on a Sunday without a reservation and were seated immediately. The food portions are huge! They give you fresh bread with strawberry and regular butter to eat. We ordered sriracha bacon brussels to eat, and the brussels were so large in size! The skillet is always my favorite, you get multiples sides. Definitely enough for another serving of breakfast the next day! Our server was very helpful and made good recommendations as well.

David P.

Yelp
The host was extraordinarily unhelpful; tried to push us into their over priced buffet on the 2nd level. They are very slow at turning tables, creating a backlog on the wait.
google avatar

J G.

Yelp
Great place. Great spins on comfort food. Service good. Ambiance is nice. This place is popular, and since it's downtown with lots of visitor that visit, plan on waiting for a table if you visit. Definitely worth a visit.
