"Comme chez Soi offers a slice of culinary history. The Horta style is emblematic of the classy characterful interior, studded with stained glass and elegant details. The establishment’s rich heritage, now in the hands of the fourth generation, pays tribute to the house classics such as mousse of Ardennes ham, whilst adapting to modern palates. A blue chip value!" - Michelin Inspector

An Exceptional Dining Experience at Comme Chez Soi Dining at Comme Chez Soi was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. As one of Brussels' most prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, it truly lives up to its reputation. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’ve entered a culinary sanctuary. The service was impeccable—attentive, knowledgeable, and professional without being overly formal. Our waiter took the time to explain every dish in detail, and the wine pairings were thoughtfully chosen to complement each course. The tasting menu was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a work of art, with bold flavors, exquisite textures, and innovative combinations. Highlights included the delicate lobster ravioli, which was rich and buttery, and the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked and paired with a subtly sweet sauce. The presentation of each course was stunning, showcasing the artistry and precision that goes into every dish. The wine list was extensive, with some truly exceptional selections that enhanced the overall experience. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the meal, and you can tell that the chefs are passionate about their craft. While the price is on the higher end, the quality of the food, the service, and the ambiance make it well worth the splurge. If you’re looking for an unforgettable, fine dining experience in Brussels, Comme Chez Soi is the place to be. I highly recommend it for anyone celebrating a special occasion or simply wanting to indulge in world-class cuisine. I can’t wait to return!

Wanted to book a special restaurant to celebrate a birthday during our trip to Brussels and settled upon Comme Chez Soi. What a brilliant choice it turned out to be. From beginning to end our experience was fantastic. The service, food and ambience were all more than worthy of the restaurant's reputation. Of the six course tasting menu we had the highlight was the veal with morel mushrooms and a tremendous soy sauce. The lamb main with perfect sweetbread croquettes was only just behind, as was the olive oil ice cream which was part of the dessert. The dining room was a wonderfully relaxed setting for our meal and this was the first time we'd ever seen anyone bring a dog into a Michelin star restaurant, which we thought was great! Not a cheap evening but worth every penny and highly recommended.

The restaurant has a tight opening hours schedule. If your reservation is for 19.00, better be there a few minutes late so they will have the front door open. I guess the same for lunch. It seems they change the menu often as to adapt to seasonal disponibilities. Food is coked to perfection, I recommend you take the wine pairing, it will tickle your senses. We got some sparkling wine for desert, one of the first times the somelier served us dry wine and not that sweet crap for desert. The vibe is a bit strange, as you find yourself in a restaurant with 100 years of history next year. It is a family owned and operated operation at the fourth generation. By far the best food I ate in Bruxelles, one of the best if my life.

I’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants and this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The sauce work is amazing and I definitely recommend doing the wine pairing.

Google
What an evening! Visited for my wife’s birthday. Great welcome, very cosy place. A bit quiet to my taste. Good service and very good wine selection. The food was simply unbelievable. All dishes were specifically created. It took us back to Hungary with the vinegar infused vegetables. To Greece with the Rouget and the venison was cooked perfectly. As for the dessert, the apple (hide and seek version) blow our mind! A very good experience overall. A bit pricey for the food but worth the stop!

In a city full of fine French dining options, Comme Chez Son stands amongst the best of the best. The chic restaurant is romantic and cosy. The menu shows creativity with a flair for interesting compositions. The dishes are skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. I could easily eat here every time I visit the beautiful city.

We had 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing. Unfortunately, it was the least favorite Michelin star experience, wasn’t exceptional at all. The wine quality in wine pairing was below the Michelin level, especially finishing with Kahlua cocktail was quite disappointing.

Yelp
I am surprised this place has only one star. It was at least a two star worthy. As I approached the restaurant from the street the door automatically opened. It wasn't a sliding door like in the supermarket, it opened out like a house door. As I walked it it was like they knew me already. They had my table ready and were already making my order. I made reservations online and said I wanted the six course sample meal. This place is small but every table is taken and there are, at least, two servers at all times looking at the tables seeing if you need anything. The food was delicious. Everything I ordered and ate was delicious. I left this place full. I have eaten at Michelin restaurants before and have left hungry, but not this place. I enjoyed how they explain every meal to you.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, wonderful 7 course experience for lunch at a decent price. Was one of the few restaurants for which I could figure out how to make a reservation on short notice, so I'm appreciative of that. In 2022, the restaurant was downgraded to one star. This doesn't mean that the restaurant has flaws, though perhaps it does mean that the adventurousness or inventiveness of two-star establishments has outpaced what's going on here. This gourmand's take is that this is an excellent use of a lunch slot for the discerning eater who delights in spending three hours or more at the table. I sympathize with the difficulty of running a restaurant of this caliber. One patron was an elderly man joined by, presumably, his grandson. He was extremely demanding and gave unclear, ambiguous instructions to the staff, then complained incessantly about everything while lecturing his grandson about myriad topics. He asked for a substitution in the singular, then was incensed that his grandson did not also receive the substitution. Then, the meal proceeded, as he had ordered the 5 course, but there was some miscommunication there as well and he seemed to call off the rest of the courses. In absence of the waitstaff, he complained to the kid in the most stereotypical know-it-all fashion, then eventually turned to the table next to him and began bragging about all the restaurants he had been to, or something like that. This anecdote is relevant because some people disrespect tradition and propriety of fine dining establishments and then leave outrageously low reviews. Comme Chez Soi is proof that all you really need is the Michelin Guide.

Yelp
This is a difficult rating for me. The full on seven course experience is good, the amuse bouche don't quite knock it out of the park (shrimp atop a shrimp chip, yeah, no). But the garlic creme thing, yum. The half-cooked gambero rosso (shrimp) and back of salmon gravlax with mackerel, can I have second please?? The rest of the seafood was good but not quite as memorable. Duck at French restaurants is almost always superb, and Comme Chez Soi is no exception. But the portion of duck is always so very modest. Service is attentive, even a tad overbearing, at least for lunch. For dinner it may be a bit more appropriate. The owner (manager? service director?) was very polished, she definitely takes great pride skillfully running such a fine restaurant. But at last we get to the price. I understand 2* sets certain expectations and value is not something that goes with fine dining, but Comme Chez Soi was sufficiently expensive that even I had to think about how that affects the rating, especially because Brussels is the home of many, many Michelin stars, and I'm honestly not comfortable saying Comme Chez Soi feels truly outstanding given the expectations.

Yelp
Excellente nourriture, belle ambiance, service exemplaire. 2021 09 16. M2.

Yelp
This review is for my experience in may of 2018. I was travelling throughout Europe on vacation from the United States. I spent the day exploring Brussels and called to see if they had a dress code. They said they did not so I asked to make a reservation for the evening. I wish I was dressed better but I had jeans, a polo shirt and hat on. Everyone at the restaurant was so friendly and accommodating. They have an excellent staff that really knows how to treat people. The food was excellent and truly one of my favorite dining experiences of all time. How they don't have 3 Michelin stars is beyond me. They are definitely deserving. I hope to come back and visit soon.

Yelp
This was a wonderful Coordinated experience of excellent food and hospitality. We went with the wine paring and they were excellent with the selection. The service was attentive and absolutely excellent from the entire team.

Yelp
It was my first business trip to Brussels and I wanted to get an authentic Belgian fine dining experience. What pleased me most is that they were able to accommodate me on the same day and they had a relatively affordable tasting menu. This is not always the case for Michelin starred restaurants. It was a enjoyable meal and I would return if the opportunity allows.

Yelp

Yelp
Finest dinner experience of my life! The wine cellar is incredible so make sure you ask for a tour. They have a chef's table, but that's not where we were. The amazing service started right away as we were sat immediately upon arrival and made to feel right at home, like family. The table was even pulled out and put back in place after those on the bench seat side were sat. Everything on the table was perfectly placed, clean, and beautiful. I don't know where they get their silverware, dishes, and glasses, but I love them. You can see into the kitchen from the dining room (which is tiny). It's fun to watch the calm determination and concentration of the chef and all the cooks, as they prepare exquisite dish after dish. We had at least 10 courses and shared many of the dishes so I'm not going to list them all out, but each one was better than the last. There were multiple things I had never tried before or didn't think I'd like, but came away in love! I can't recommend this place enough. Understand that it's expensive, but come with the mindset to enjoy as much as you can. It's a very unique experience for most!

Yelp
A super meal--warm staff, correct service--and a well-priced wine list. Raveneau Chablis Clos for €150 is a steal. Michelin ** and a super experience.

Located in central Brussels, a rarity amongst the city's best places to dine, entry to Comme Chez Soi sees guests greeted by several stern faces and with the average diner's age topping sixty the room's Art Nouveau design carries an air of pomp and circumstance, art-glass reflected off mirrors above big bouquets of flowers while a large window offers a view of the action behind the scenes. Following a practice of tasting menu-only weekends, a shorter version of the degustation available at a slightly lower price, the pacing at Comme Chez Soi follows a leisurely model embraced by most of the regions haute-cuisine and with the seven courses plus extras stretching nearly four-hours the delays are sometimes greater than forty minutes, perhaps not ideal for solo diners though the staff did do their best in offering a book on the region as well as several magazines to read. Somewhat frustrated that no a la carte additions were available, just a few choices to be made for course one and course three, the longer degustation with warm cheese supplement was ordered after some deliberation, jacket shed shortly after five clever canapes as air circulates poorly in the room soon filled to capacity, the trio of breads a strong effort with the pain aux cereal particularly impressive when gilded with salted butter still wet from Normandy. Unapologetically stiff, neither server nor Maitre 'D ever once seen cracking a smile, the degustation officially began with room-temperature rounds of young rabbit with nuttiness enhanced by light grilling amidst light cheese, cucumbers and apples, the following plate of Cod and slightly overcooked Squid sauced tableside with top-notes of licorice shining amidst smooth citrus and a touch of heat. Small in portions but bold in flavors, even opening bites quite rich while the bread basket proves tough to ignore, course three served two rosy slices of Pigeon brast along with vegetables and a sidecar of crispy leg atop Vegetable Gratin, the Green Asparagus soon to prove a signature of nearly every menu in the region while a small segment of Sweetbread beneath a crispy top-hat rounded out the savories with a white stalk from Mechelen along topped with Morels, cream and Mustard seeds. Graciously allowing me a single portion of warm Blue Cheese, the menu suggesting a price of €14/pp with a minimal order of two, suffice it to say that the warm puddle is worthy the splurge with caramelized apples, Port and flavors of Speculoos, a clever two-part pre-dessert well conceptualized but unfortunately overwhelmed by Mangoes and Passion Fruit, the follow-up far more impressive with Dark Chocolate Ganache lightly accented by Strawberries with flavors melded by Olive Oil and tangy yogurt ice cream. At this point past 23h00, Jetlag finally setting in after nearly 34 hours awake or in the air, a quartet of mignardises arrived with another long delay preceding the bill's presentation, a total of just about $250 US including 1L of water on par with most American restaurants carrying similar accolades and overall a worthwhile experience though certainly not a "destination" meal like others in the area earning two or more Red Guide Stars.

Yelp
Great food that is very rich and traditional. Something interesting that I have not seen before at a Michelin restaurant.they offer additional servings of your dish after you have finished your portion. Which sounds good but by the end you feel like your stomach may explode. In addition, they love their sauces here and they are very very rich sauces!

Yelp
Comme Chez Soi is two michelin star restaurant and I can see why. My husband and I were visiting a friend in Brussels who took us here for lunch. Service was amazing and we were well taken care of despite the fact that we were dressed fairly casually. We ordered from the a la carte menu but they also had a set lunch menu that the table could order. We had the venison and the young roasted partridge. At first, when we got our dishes, I was a little disappointed by the amount of food. Our friend who was there before did not say anything to ruin the surprise but said that he left full when he came here. The surprise was that during your meal, the server comes out with more of your dish - more venison, more partridge, more vegetable and side dishes. It felt never ending and it was exactly like our friend said, we left extremely full and happy. I extremely enjoyed the partridge, which they gave you all the pieces of the bird. We also ordered one cheese plate after our meal, which was plenty for 3 people. Apparently, they have a great wine list as well and we greatly enjoyed a 2000 vintage (which I don't remember the name) with our meal. Very worth the money for a two Michelin star restaurant.

Michael S.

Yelp
Without a doubt one of the must go restaurants in Brussels. The wait staff is very attentive and the food is without compare. Try the pre fixe lunch menu and substitute cheese for the dessert. We added the crab appetizer but it was not necessary. There is a second serving of the main course. You will not leave hungry. Every dish was outstanding.

Yelp
Whew, Great place to dine!!!World class food, Service is outstanding. Everything is just magical from the moment you walk through the door. It was an experience you'll never forget. Every detail was thought off....details like every beer has its own particular shape glasses with its logo on it, remind us how deeply passionate the Belgians are, nothing left unturned..from the menus , the embroidered linens, to the spices that goes in all the food to all the staff, the Maitre 'd, the waiters, sommelier, who speak several languages to the delight of the clients.... Belgium is a country known for its plethora of Michelin rated restaurant and if you like a classic Michelin restaurant ..this is the place to be...founded in 1926 it is considered an institution where many people love to go for special occasions, anniversaries or just have lunch. Prices are very pricey..A menu with an assortment of Game meat such as Bison, Caribou, Venison & Wild Boar with its special sauces or meats recipes. Vegetable & Dessert ..The Wine list....this is the place to be...Stop by when you're in Bruselles, you'll know why!!

Yelp
It began with a head waiter and waiter with whom one of our table of 8 must have had a bad experience in a prior life as this man was a horror. He began by paying no attention to us and then was aggressive and argumentative. We were seated in "the kitchen" and that would have been fine but for the cook who, every 15 minutes, had to whisk something in a metal bowl and make a terrible noise. This is very annoying. You would be better off in the lovely Art Nouveau dining room. We couldn't get a wine list but immediately after we placed our order the nasty head water came with dessert menus. One of our group asked how he would know how he felt about dessert before he ate. His response was "then you'll have to wait" and flounced off. That was the tone of what was supposed to be a terrific dinner. One of our group summed it up this way......."terrible service, limited menu, very expensive and an absurd wine list with outrageous prices". Four of us had the duck. 2 of us shared a medium rare duck and found the first round hard to chew. It was served in a beautiful way. When we were finished, our waiter returned with a second helping that he threw on our plates. 2 of us shared a more well done duck that came under-cooked. Our waiter brought it back to the chef who must have seared it for a minute. They reported that it was terrible. I have read more than a few reviews and see that our experience is unusual. We left before dessert and coffee as we were just getting angry and for 800 euros, why be more angry. We wound up in the lobby of our hotel having espresso before going to our rooms to sleep. Quelle domage. Quelle conceit

Yelp
The decor was exquisite and the service impeccable. We sat in the art nouveau room, not the kitchen and I'm glad we did - a friend of mine prefers to eat in the kitchen but I enjoyed being able to savour the atmosphere of the main dining room. I found most of the dishes delectable but with one or two, I found the unusual flavours jarred. There were a couple of tastes that I found did not quite work together - but this could just have been me, as my husband loved them all. The desserts were simply fabulous. Will definitely return!

Angelo V.

Yelp
It was our first experience in a two stars Michelin restaurant and we are pretty satisfied. Warm welcomed and escorted to our table and asked immediately for an aperitif. We got a glass of champagne and despite our expectations the price was not really high: 14,50€ for a glass is fair enough at this level. The restaurant is nicely decorated but the ambience is in my opinion ruined by the lack of music which makes the atmosphere stiffer. As suggested by the maitre d' we went for the menu (5 courses plus the cheese). We were expecting some suggestions regarding the wine but we never got one, so we ended up to choose by ourselves. The food is really excellent and of good quality. The 5 courses menu starters are focused more on seafood and fish. Both of them were really tasty. As main course we had the lamb: really tender! We were a little bit disappointed by the cheese dish: even if the quality was always of good level, the taste of the whole plate was dominated by the pickled cucumbers. The dessert was in terms of presentation and taste a highlight. I am giving four of five stars due to the service: even if kind, I was expecting a more professional and prepared waiting staff. I was disappointed by the fact that the waiter was not presenting/announcing appropriately the plate and he never spent some words about provenience or preparation of the ingredients. In summary an experience to be recommended.

Lorrie Z.

Yelp
Comme Chez Soi is considered one of the best Michelin restaurants in Brussels, and with good reason. The food and presentation are impressive, sophisticated. Fine dining beyond expectation, but yet a bit pretentious at the same time. My husband and I actually found the atmosphere to be slightly uninviting, more intimidating than we would have preferred. After reading many reviews, I assumed that a small dining room with views of the kitchen would offer a cozy ambience, but unfortunately not so. Because the restaurant seats so few, the noise level barely gets above a whisper. And the view of the kitchen is only through a window, not open to the action. The set menu we ordered had many wonderful dishes, almost too many to eat! The main Guinea fowl dish was disappointing. But the desserts were amazing, the pastry chef a genius indeed. Overall, an incredible experience in a very traditional, upscale restaurant. Go for the food, but be mindful of the environment - formal in every way.

Amanda G.

Yelp
Been at this restaurant in inoumerous occasions, lunch and dinner, is always a bliss. I bring my dog pretty much everywhere and they even serve him water and some dog "croquettes". I would say the ambiance is a bit old-fashion and you might see more than you were hoping for from the next tables. Staff is nice, portions are quite big (for my taste and considering a star-awarded restaurant). Every meal, every bite I ever took at this restaurant melted in my mouth, I love their sole, their sauces... Worth every calorie, every day of detox afterwards lol. They have a valet parking. In birthdays they take your picture and frame it for you. Cute.

Yelp
While we were aiming to dine on all of the well-known local specialties (chocolate, mussels, beer), my wife and I also decided we wanted to try out one of the high-end restaurants in Brussels when we visited a couple weeks back. As such, we decided upon Comme Chez Soi after doing a little research; and given it was Valentine's Day, the menu was the fixed price 6-course tasting menu set at 200 euros a person - a rather hefty price, but we figured it was worth it to dine here on a special evening. The entrance is rather unassuming, but the main dining room is a nice mix of modern embellishments inside what feels like a bit of a quainter, older dining room, highlighted by some really beautiful stained glass that was above our seating area. WIth a small dining room, it definitely has a more intimate feel, but it doesn't feel like you have no privacy at all - and it certainly helps that, with the multinational makeup of the city, you're going to be amongst people from all over the world. If I had to guess, the folks to our left were Italian, while those to our right were locals who spoke mainly Flemish but were pretty fluent in English and French as well. As for the servers - the gentleman serving us had excellent English when describing each plate, and the sommelier was great in helping us pick the best Riesling I've had to date - a Frederic Mochel 2012 vintage that was on the dry side but still didn't lose the inherent sweetness of the grape. Otherwise, the waiters stay out of your way - which is nice given it was Valentine's Day! What I liked about the meal is that it was distinctly European, but it was lighter than your homestyle Belgian cooking, and it felt up to date with modern cuisine - I would say the closest analogue to the food here I've eaten in America is Batard in NYC. That said, it blows away that restaurant when it comes to the quality of the food. The rack of veal was not what I had been expecting - it was veal sliced up and cooked very lightly, interspersed with pine nuts to give it a nice, crunch texture and drops of goose liver cream - pretty much as decadent as a foie gras-based cream - that, altogether, had a very clean flavor with a hint of decadence coming from the cream. My wife's first course - the spiced mackerel topped with king crab medallions, soaked in spider crab consumme - was a delightfully seafood-heavy dish that had both the fish (marinated but not overly ocoked) and crab prepared such that the succulence of each bite was intense. I daresay that the second course may have been my favorite; the scallops were seared just perfectly - I don't think I've seen scallops grilled just right, with enough texture to leave perfect grill marks - and the cabbage and oysters topped with caviar (a supplement that I feel is imperative to add) is a divine complement with the combination of seafood and fresh vegetables, topped with bursts of saltiness. The heaviest course of the evening was the third, where we both went with the grilled seabass. It was delicious, of course, with the right ratio of firmness to flakiness; the razor clams were a bit chewier than I've had elsewhere (mainly Spanish restaurants), but I liked the contrast against the fish. The bearnaise sauce, as mentioned was heavy - but I absolutely enjoyed the rich lobster flavor that permeates from it, making this a very wholesome, complete seafood dish. Next up were the sweetbreads - which, I will admit, I was very pleasantly surprised by how it turned out. I'm not a huge fan of them, and sometimes, sweetbreads come off as ill-prepared if not much attention is paid. The portion was just right on this, and each bite was very creamy - and, topped with black truffle shavings (both on the celery stick and the sweetbreads) add that rich, deep flavor that the truffle is well-known for. We then moved on to the desserts; I really liked the first one, which is very tropical and most unlike Brussels in the winter! Minced mango and passion fruit sliced precisely into small pieces and topped with 'exotic' sorbet (of the citrus variety; based on taste and coloring, it very well may have been more mango and passion fruit) was a cleansing refresher from the rest of the dishes. with the meringue (in a heart shape) providing a sweet, light finish. The last 'official' dessert course was chocolate; being in Belgium, it's not surprising that it was fantastically done as a rich, dark mousse served fruits on the side and another citrus-y sorbet. We finished up with petit fours (I liked the macaroons the best - very intense raspberry flavor), and then we got one more to finish up with - another fruit sorbet, topped with some kind of sweet whipped foam. Dinner does run long here (it took us a bit more than 3 hours to finish the 6 courses + the 2 amuse bouches + 2 extra desserts), so don't plan on being in and out quickly if you do the tasting - but it's well worth it. I hope to make it back some day - one of the best I've been to yet!

Yelp
This is still the best place in Brussels and probably even in the country. No words needed here. Just go there without questions. You will go back.

Ramon S.

Yelp
Excellent food and out of this planet service. The whole experience is amazing. They have a special lunch menu on weekdays that is actually affordable. Find a pretext to go, you will love it.

Yelp
This was by far the best restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life! My husband and I are foodies and have eaten in the best restaurants in the US, Europe and Asia. This is by far the best ever. The food was expertly prepared, the waitstaff was impeccable, the the atmosphere was beautiful! Put this on your bucket list. You need a reservation several weeks earlier, but you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Small, nice, traditional; but could be better and certainly no better than recent "one star" places I've visited. They were my thoughts as I left last night; don't get me wrong I really enjoyed my meal and, as much as you can ever make this comment, reasonable value. It might be slightly unfair but I'll start with the obvious things they got wrong: - I ordered wine that wasn't available (from a wine list on an iPad); sommelier suitably embarrassed and recommended a good replacement. - didn't provide additional water when our carafe was finished.......hard not to think that this would not have been a problem with a bottle of water - glasses of sweet wine arrived half-way through desert However, food was very good: the more traditional dishes (e.g. sole with mousseline of Riesling) were excellent and suitably rich whilst the more "modern" introduced other ingredients with real subtlety. Overall recommended, but despite their efforts I'd say they don't offer what it takes to move beyond the "one star" crowd.

Yelp
Still incomparable after all these years, with classically grounded dishes enlivened by esoteric flavors. (Now with a more affordable wine list, in a concession to current tastes and pricing pressures.) It's a mystery why Michelin hasn't restored Comme Chez Soi's third star - perhaps because Lionel Rigolet keeps a number of his father-in-law's old standbys on the menu?

Yelp
We carefully selected this for our 30th WA, to host our three foodie sons and their partners. We were not disappointed! We reserved well in advanced to ensure the pick of the chefs table, right in line of fire, we could see and hear everything and it made for a fantastic night. The food was to die for and the service impeccable - friendly, advisory. The Sommelier was perfect, 'great choice' I said, 'you chose it sir' - actually I chose the more expensive St Aubin, my favorite Burgundy, but he steered me toward the younger, less pricey option. 3 1/2 hours of pure joy, surprise and delight and the owner Laurence visited often to engage in polite family style conversation and to share a few photos of the many celebs that have frequented. Honestly, I've dined around the world, including here about 7 years ago. Whether it was the joy of the moment and on this occasion being surrounded by my nearest and dearest, this is one of my top 5 and a definite return, even if only for our 40th. Thank you Comme Chez Soi, we had so many choices yet I am certain we choice the best!
