Common Decency

Whilst stood admiring The Royal Opera House building I found myself talking to a doorman stood at the top of some quite inconspicuous stairs leading to ‘something’ underground. I was quickly informed the stairs led to a cocktail bar and was encouraged to go and take a look. At this moment we were actually on our way to a show but given I can’t resist a cocktail bar and in particular one underground, I just had to pop down. Once downstairs I was quickly greeted and I explained I was just taking a look. Without hesitation this very helpful member of staff took me on a tour of the bar. This bar has a fantastic ambiance and slightly Art Deco but very suited to the setting. There is a main bar area and a couple of more relaxed seating areas which created the opportunity for people to either call in for a quick drink or, spend the whole evening there. We quickly found ourselves sat at the bar and choosing some very different drinks that are not found in the ‘typical’ cocktail bar. The list we chose from had a range of drinks all set at £18.00 each. Despite only popping down to have a quick look around, the drinks and experience we had in The Common Decency bar was superb. If time had allowed we could have quite easily spent the whole evening down there as it was very us. Great staff and a great experience….. this place certainly needs checking out if you like this sort of thing. Just go and enjoy yourself. Lovely new gem in CG! We originally came to Side Hustle with no reservation and they redirected us here. After having heard about it, we were on board. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming, some a bit show offy, but it comes with the experience and brand. We had 2 cocktails which were really amazing, out of their menu, but other NoMad Costco tails are available. We wanted to have a dessert and despite them not serving any, they got us the restaurant and Side Hustle menu to choose from. We had the SH churros which were to die for. Will come back again. The atmosphere is really nice and vibey.

What a gem I stumbled upon tonight! Cozy and gorgeous decor. Although it’s a beautiful venue, what really made this place so special was the service provided by Danilo! So professional and attentive from the start. Danilo made wonderful recommendations and even even better cocktails. This place is perfect for small & private gatherings in their private rooms or after work cocktails with a speakeasy vibe! Go, you won’t regret it.

The bar staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Need a bit improvement in their cocktail list. Dark, cosy and lovely private setting.

Common Decency has the potential to be something great. The cocktails are very nice. To which I’ll give them that. As also the food. I will say the chicken croquettes were lovely and my partner enjoyed her dry-aged burger. However, these are the criticisms I have. The bartenders are energetic and comical which is fine. However, drop the loudness a little, as also ice-cube throwing. It felt as if my partner and I were like at a university dorm party. The service from being greeted when entering and the drinks being serve were nice. The make-up of ice-cube throwing with a free glass of bubbly did make up for the ice-cube that almost hit my head / eye. The decor is nice. However, you need some signage to direct customers where the toilets are. It’s like a little maze down there. The last point I wish to make is the final bill. I was given a bill which I was told was the final bill. Only to then be somewhat told it was not correct, an extra 5/8 mins to settle the correct one. Which is fine, but should have been the correct one from the outset. Was nice but not that spectacular to be coming back.

Lovely place to visit. Very cosy and intimate, though without a DJ playing I think it could have been cosier.

Their fresh pastries taste like they came straight from a bakery in Europe.

£18 for a non-alcoholic cocktail. I love the design in the Nomad hotel and the staff are lovely, so the whole place is a great addition to the London scene. However £18 for a non-alcoholic cocktail (the same price as an alcoholic cocktail) is insane. Alcohol is taxed in the UK and non-alcoholic drinks are not, so the latter should be cheaper. Plus a dessert in the restaurant is £14 so how is a soft drink more expensive? It was also not very good (much better 0% cocktails at, say, Lounge Bohemia), nor was the pricing clear in the menu. Guys, please get your act together as this is a great space!
