Commons at Old Street Works

I'm a coffee lover, and I like buying coffee from small businesses. As I came across this place, I said I needed to try it. The atmosphere was really nice but I was disappointed to see that the staff didn't pay me too much attention to me. I've asked the girl at the till if I can pay cash, and she said yes, but it will help if u have the right amount. That wasn't a problem as I like to give big tips to small coffee shops. As i was waiting for my order, two other people came in, and I've noticed to my shock that they were welcome in with a much nicer and friendlier attitude than the one I received. That actually made me sad for the day, and I didn't enjoy that coffee at all (felt like was a weak coffee and the sandwich was average(all because of the staff interaction)) I do understand that locals will receive a different treatment, but I wasn't expecting them to ask me about my chickens or if my guinea pigs are fluffy. Just a smile is not that much to ask

Fabulous coffee shop. Warm and welcoming. Plenty of space and power outlets for those that want to work from here. The coffee is delicious and well made. Tried the Coco and ginger latte, which was quite different and very yum. Their pastries are some of the best I have tasted. Their service is fast and friendly.Well worth the visit. Will definitely go back.

My daily coffee spot! Lovely atmosphere inside the store, friendly staff who take the effort to remember your name if you're a regular and have conversations with you. Really cute custom cup holders (they do the art for them every day and let people submit their own art!). Best of all, a cute display of pets people have bought in they've photographed. Thanks for making my work lunch even better 😋

Best flat white in the neighborhood and the carrot cake is divine. Have been coming here fairly consistently since they opened and have always been greeted in a friendly manner by staff. Lots of seating options and excellent WiFi for WFH days. Beautiful interior and a fresh weekly flower display that’s absolutely lovely (and picture-perfect, as you can see from my collection of them!). If I could make only one suggestion it would be to bring back serving a date with each cup of coffee - it was such a nice touch :)

5 stars are not enough! I loved it here. The drinks are amazing and they have the best chai latter i have ever tried (i get chai latte everywhere so i think by now i can tell which ones are high quality). I also had a cinnamon roll and a coconut ginger latte and they were absolutely delicious. Their aubergine sour dough sandwich is also very tasty The staff is very friendly and they do not bother you throughout your stay which i really appreciate. The space is cozy and you have access to free wifi and you can work or study there because there are a lot of plugs at every table. Very clean, good music. I came here a few days in a row and every time i had an impeccable experience! I will definitely come again when I'm in london!

A little outside of the typical hotspots is the cozy Cafe Commons. I was able to relax here and enjoy a latte with oat milk. The area around it was also nice to look at.

Perfect spot for your coffee fix and do some laptop work , spacious , with sockets on almost every table, freshly brewed coffees and friendly service. Might wanted some more food options but they are working on it. Rotation of roasters in espresso and filter offerings. Def recommend for the coffee and ambience.

Noticed that this opened in the area…. Thought I’d give it a try…. Ended up coming here consistently for the past month!! Great coffee (and I mean great coffee…) and some of the best soups I ever ever tasted…. Also the pastries are far better than what I am usually used to. The staff are very personable with smiles all around….. they all seem to work hard to create a welcoming atmosphere….. there just seems to be care taken in every step of the experience.
