Commonwealth Tavern

Found this spot while visiting the Book shop across the street and it was such a great meal to end my time in Chicago! The service was fast and friendly! The cheese curds are the best I ever had! The cheese was flavorful and soft! My breakfast burger was juicy and it was unexpected because the meat was brisket! Overall five stars!

Perfect neighborhood bar in Roscoe with a huge food menu, large draft beer selection, and nice selection of cocktails. We came in on a Tuesday at 1p and it was still pretty busy and everyone had food which was a good sign. We sat at the bar and the one bartender had the entire place and did a great job. Old fashioned was really good and the cheese curds were great. We got steak filet sliders and there were a bit overcooked but still good. Will be back to try other things next time we are in the neighborhood.

This has to absolutely positively be the worst part I've ever been to in Chicago. Start it off when walking in the door the order of either dirty drains or bathrooms smelled through the entire building. We said at the bar planning on getting some food and drinks but after ordering our first drink the bartender literally did not come near us for 20 minutes. We made our way to one of the tables by the windows and we're probably greeted by a server ordered some food but again did not see anybody for at least 20 minutes once our food came out it was at best lukewarm and not edible. The nachos tasted stale. I got the chopped chicken sandwich that was like eating cafeteria food. My girlfriend got the Commonwealth burger. Let's just say I've had better at McDonald's. So disappointed is so many people have told me what a great place is is but I think they we're either drunk or just being nice. Will not recommend to any of my friends or family. If I could go this place zero stars I would. Bad bad bad

This grilled chicken Fajitas like sandwich was what my tastebuds were asking for. Commonwealth Tavern is a great combination of outstanding beverages and exceptional food for a sports bar. We had a slight issue with our reservation for a sporting event but Matt and his team went above and beyond and found a solution. Matt's team is exceptional at customer service and they are extremely hard working and well coordinated across the servers, runners, bartenders and the kitchen staff. Matt leads a great team and you see this throughout your experience. The food was outstanding from the turkey burgers, hamburgers through to the salads. I would highly recommend Commonwealth Tavern as a destination for drinking and dining.

One of my favorite easy bars in the Lakeview/Roscoe village area. Easy and the staff is always great. I dream of the buffalo chicken wrap.

Commonwealth is a really fun place to watch sports. They have TV's in every direction. Matt was very gracious to us and made sure we had a great experience. Our waitress was top notch as well. Will definitely go back and highly recommend checking it out. They have a pretty good beer selection and the food was very tasty.

Overall good experience. We were seated outside and with great service. Server knew the beers well which is hard to find. My winds were ok - just didn’t pop…perhaps more sauce and more tender bite would have helped. My wife had a Cuban sandwich which she liked and thought was true to its name.
