This New Rooftop Restaurant Landed Alums of Mister A’s and George’s at the Cove | Eater San Diego

"Set to debut in early November on the Sasan's eighth floor, Communion will be an eighth-floor restaurant and cocktail bar from restaurateur Jacquee Renna Downing serving a global, shareable menu from executive chef Mike Moritz (an alum of Mille Fleurs and Mister A’s), with pastry chef Aly Lyng—who spent more than a decade at George’s at the Cove—joining in the kitchen. Neat wine bar in Mountain Village. We barely were able to swing by based on when we were in town/their operating hours, but the pours we tried were nice and the atmosphere inside relaxing.

Communion is pretty amazing. Chef Dustin is extremely creative and is always willing to share his insights and local flavor. Seriously, the food is so refreshing and unique and delicious. We went for both the Mexican menu and mushroom inspired menu and were blown away. The staff are also incredible. Ooly provides awesome service to all their guests. A must do.

This is one of my first stops anytime I come to Telluride. Once you have visited you will understand why. This small but inviting establishment offers more than you can imagine. Looking for a wine to sip? A wonderful cocktail? A small bite to eat? Charcuterie to share? Great service and knowledgeable staff offers it all. Oullie and Dustin have created a great environment to relax in after a long day in town or on mountain. If in Mountain Village, this is a most stop spot for anyone looking for a great place to unwind!

We had a wonderful evening here splitting a tasty bottle of red and chatting it up with our server, Heather. She was a sweetheart and the wine was great. They also made room for our stroller so our baby could sit with us, which was appreciated. No complaints except we only wish they’d stay open later!

Communion is my favorite new place in Telluride. The vibe is sophisticated yet laid back, and the staff is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about all things epicurean. The wine list is superb and the service impeccable. If you love wine, then you'll love Communion.

I recently had my first visit to Communion and I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere of Communion is bright, modern, sophisticated, and welcoming. The decor includes majestic gemstones and pictures of sweeping mountain scenes. The list of wines as well as appetizers is varied and balanced. I had some decadent squid paired with a crisp Pinot Grigio; it was the perfect pairing for a hot summer evening. This hidden gem wine bar is a new addition to my neighborhood, but I anticipate that it will become a place where I am a regular!

We went to Sunday dinner and it was an amazing 5 course meal with some of the best food I have ever ate. I am still dreaming of the octopus. It was paired perfectly with a tasting of wines. We had the best time!
