The 14 Best Restaurants In Manchester - Manchester - The Infatuation

"An artisanal bakery revolution has swept through Manchester in recent years, and this tiny, grab-and-go Ancoats spot is now leading the charge. The first test of a bakery’s viennoiserie is its croissant, and Companio nails them: they’re crunchy and flaky outside, with a soft, buttery interior. The bakery also excels at more adventurous creations, like a shining danish filled with luscious, roasted milk crème pâtissière and pert, poached Yorkshire rhubarb, or a fragrant poppy seed cake with a puddle of lime leaf-infused extra-virgin olive oil. Get there for breakfast or elevenses to avoid missing out on the best bits." - joel hart

I mistook potatoes for sweet potatoes and accidentally ended up choosing the bakery’s signature bun, the Madbrød (£6.6). Although there’s an additional VAT charge for dining in, being able to sit down, enjoy the bread at a leisurely pace, and soak in the cozy atmosphere of the shop made it all worthwhile. 🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵 🤙🏻Madbrød 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

I recently visited Companion this morning and tried their croissant and seeded bread. The croissant was absolutely perfect—light, flaky, and buttery, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that rivals those from the best Parisian bakeries. The seeded bread was equally impressive, with a delightful crunch from the seeds and a soft, airy interior. It was fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sandwiches or on its own with a bit of butter. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I'll definitely be coming back for more of their delicious baked goods!

Beautiful bakery. Feels authentic from the offset and the fact you can see the open kitchen is a bonus. I love the variability in the baked goods. We had the cardamon roll which was CHEFS KISS perfection. The banana cake was delicious and the olives in the focaccia made it! The flaky almond croissant with the delicious filling was to die for. Coffees were great, sad there weren’t any syrups though! Friendly staff and lovely (but limited) seating outside. Don’t be put off by the queue, it’s fast moving.

Outstanding bakery The croissant bread that I got from here was sublime Buttery, flakey and abit crusty. The croissant themselves were crunchy and buttery. I got the Almond coffee flavour I can't describe the flavour It was outstanding Never had anything like it We are going back this Sunday again It's a gem. I also got a sandwich Beautiful The bread was the main flavour 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

Companio is our favorite place to eat in all of Manchester! Tristan is magnificent! Amazing fresh baked goods. High quality sandwiches. The pastrami sandwich is the best! Perfect. 100% recommend. Be sure to ask for Tristan. Excellent customer service!

Really nice fresh bakes! I got the cheese and garlic brioche and the cinnamon bun, both had really nice flavors that weren't too overpowering. We went on a Saturday morning around 11am, so we had to queue but it moved fast, we only waited for 10 minutes

Yelp
There is such a wide variety of both sweet and salty pastries here! I got a leek and blue cheese savory Danish as well as a cinnamon roll. The former had amazing flavor and flakiness, really tasty although a tad on the salty side. The cinnamon roll was very underwhelming, tasted very basic. Bread was good quality though and definitely fresh! Too many options to choose from but quite pricey. This is a takeaway spot as there's nowhere to sit and the shop itself is pretty small.
