Find a Choose-Your-Own Adventure Feast at Maydan Market in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Another D.C. transplant in the market, this spot’s khachapuri makes a highly shareable (in person and on Instagram) weekend breakfast plate." - Nicole Fellah

Los Angeles’s New Maydan Market Combines Michelin Star Power With Local Favorites | Eater LA

"Open all day from 8 a.m., this Los Angeles iteration departs from the D.C. original while keeping only the beloved khachapuri. Breakfast leans bright and comforting with a bacon, egg, and cheese on milk bread; labneh with apricot gelée; and a Lebanese spread of labneh, man’oushe, Persian cucumbers, and tomatoes, alongside coffee, matcha, and cocktails like a bright basil margarita." - Rebecca Roland

Buying Purple-Hued Cocktails Supports a Social Justice Organization Run By Bartenders | Eater DC

"Julian Garcia at Compass Rose created a 'Mallard vs. Monarch' that uses duck fat–washed Butterfly Floral Vodka, Butterfly Liqueur, Peychaud’s bitters, a Dolin Genepy rinse, citrus, and a rosemary garnish; since the start of August Compass Rose has been donating a portion of proceeds from drinks made with Butterfly spirits to Bartenders Against Racism as part of the 'Butterfly for BAR' campaign." - Adele Chapin

Don’t order matcha if you are matcha enthusiast. $9 before tip and pretty much just a cup of almond milk. Highly Likely across the street has way better matcha. Cute vibes inside though.

7.50 for an Arnold palmer? C'mon. $15 for a veg Sammy with more bread than Veg? People seems nice but this is economic segregation. Wow. It's nice they let my dog inside because the angle and layout of the comfy seats on the patio is like a pizza oven starting at 10:30am. The soft Indian music is nice, hopefully they won't go loud cafe obnoxious with their playlist, there's so few places to hear yourself chat over coffee. Beautiful decor. Good AC!.

Grow up about the price of things. You never are forced to go out and eat, a choice you make, and this will be a GREAT solid choice. Amazing espresso and coffee beans. A helpful and friendly staff.

I’ll skip the $14 ham & cheese croissant next time. Lattes were good & strong.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE Compass Rose. It is my new favorite place to hang out for brunch. The prices are steep (what isn't these days) so I choose what is worth the big bucks. The atmosphere is so cozy and I like stay for a long luxurious time.

Yelp
So far, not impressed. I saw the other bad Yelp reviews and came anyways to make my own assessment to be fair to this new place in my neighborhood. Got an everything croissant that was supposed to have cream cheese in the middle and their spiced tea latte. The croissant took 10 minutes to come out from the kitchen, was warm on the surface but refrigerator cold in the middle, and did not have any cream cheese after all. The Spiced Tea Latte was nothing spectacular and definitely did not justify the price. It tasted like warm, sweetened black tea with oat milk but no real spices to it. The female barista did her best with being friendly but the other male barista/bartender seemed like he couldn't be bothered with customer service. His nonverbals told me that speaking to a woman was clearly disdainful for him. When I asked when I'd get the croissant after already waiting for more than five minutes, he said it would come from the kitchen and walked away. I waited another five minutes and then I had to ask the female barista because clearly everyone had forgotten about the order. That's sad because there are literally only two customers here. I left my tea behind and walked across the street to Highly Likely for a much better experience and cup of joe.

Yelp
I walk in, everything is fancy looking and the people were super nice. I order a coffee and an egg sandwich. The sandwich was absolute garbage. Eggs under done, served on a hamburger bun, and the cheese was legit processed "American" cheese. Cmon guys, if you're gonna serve sandwiches in a fancy restaurant it should look better than what my roommate would concoct with whatever he scrounged up in our apartment.

Yelp
I went early in the morning, so it was pretty empty. The music is loud, so not a good place for conversations or work. I got the ham and cheese croissant and it was so forgettable, especially for the price. It reminded me of a packaged croissant you get at Starbucks. Beautiful space but the food doesn't match that level of attention.
