Southern Restaurant Hoover’s Opens New Market Hoover’s in a Hurry in Cherrywood - Eater Austin

"The winner of Chronicle’s pizza tournament is Conans Pizza, the longtime pizzeria known for its Chicago-style pies. While the original location on West 29th Street closed two years ago, the West Anderson and West Stassney locations remain open still." - Nadia Chaudhury

Restaurant Takeout and Delivery Recommendations From Eater Austin Editors - Eater Austin

"For deep-dish pizza: Since Conans Pizza was named as Austin’s favorite pizzeria by the Chronicle earlier this month, I knew it was time for me to try the deep-pan pies, and it’s great. The barbecue chicken pizza leans on the sweet side, with a barbecue-pizza sauce blend underneath cheese and grilled chicken strips, and dense and solid wheat crust. It’s the perfect lunchtime pie. Pickup orders can be placed online." - Erin Russell

What awful dog crap pizza. Walked in and got 2 slices, they were terrible. I stopped by this place because it had 4.5 stars. I guess people of Austin don’t know pizza? Maybe it they made me a fresh pie things would be different? I can’t say. They handed me pizza from under a heat lamp, didn’t even take the time to throw it in the oven and melt the cheese. Pathetic crust with no flavor. Tasted like wheat, so bland. I’d rather eat school cafeteria pizza from when I was 7.

Ambience is amazing... if you're onto absolute badassery! Service is pretty good, even if the pizza takes a while to cook. Food is usually pretty solid... if you know your way around the menu 🤔 Staff is usually quick to recommend their favorites, or ask a friendly local regular (often identifiable by wearing a grunge or Metallica shirt) who will clue you in to their particular favorite!

Google
SO DISAPPOINTED!!! We were very excited to try this place, as we eat pizza all around town, and are always looking for the next best. THIS AINT IT! We ordered the ' Savage ', a $40 pizza. Upon arrival, I picked and ate a jalapeno off the top and immediately new it wasn't fresh. Hopes still high, me and my wife took a bite into what was a watery, uncooked, doughy, dishwasher tasting pizza! The ingredients are far from fresh, we could literally make dough balls from the crust, and the pan was full of water. So.... We complained and wanted our money back. Someone came and said, the water is normal, it's " The sauce ", then said, " I'll call the manager, but you probably won't get all of your money back ". We each took one bite lol! No, we're sorry, would you like anything else, or how can we fix this. Literally all the workers were offended that their pizza is terrible and treated us as if we made the nasty pizza. We went to the store and bought a frozen pizza for $7.99, it looked and tasted much better. This place somehow has good reviews, but read the 1 ⭐'s, they are all inline with our review. Do not eat here, there are MANY other places that actually put pride in their pizza. This was the worst bite of pizza we've ever had.

Google
Great pan pizza. The savage with extra sauce and added jalapenos is good eats.

The place to get a deep pan pizza! Try the meaters. We've been coming here for years. We're glad they're still around.

Google
Still great deep dish pizza coming out of the Conan’s ovens! This location is a throwback to high school for me and the decor/atmosphere shows it, but it’s fitting and cool for me. Classic 80s themes and old school seating and space makes for great reminiscing. Plus the beer is cold and good!

Google
Really cool old-school spot for pan-style pizza. The decor/vibe help make for a great time when you come with a group. I don’t usually like BBQ chicken pizza, but Conans’ is very good.

Google
I’m mad at myself for just trying Conan’s for the first time. First of all the place looks awesome. The booths have so much character and it’s fun to just hang out. Next is the people working there are super friendly and fun. We got the cheese garlic bread as an appetizer and I could of ate five more plates of it. The bread was soft and had lots of flavor. Last but not least the pizza is great. We got the meater deep dish and it did not disappoint. Looking for a chill place to get some pizza in Austin, this is it!

Yelp
This place is one Austin's finest institutions. We usually order the carnivore with jalapeños instead of bell peppers....and absolutely no anchovies. The pizza always has lots and lots of flavorful toppings. The sausage is (in my opinion) absolutely delicious. It's not minced but rather served in nicely sized mini meat balls. I absolutely love the sauce they use for their pies. It has a lovely tomato flavor that is seasoned quite well. You order at the counter, but the pie is delivered to your table. This place is very Austin. The wait staff are always friendly and accommodating. We usually sit in the elevated section because they have their television there and we like to watch a ball game while enjoying our pizza. Most of the restaurant has private booths that can accommodate up to four people.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from this place and my favorite was the garlic bread! It was a bit sweet which was unique and I enjoyed it. Pizza was advertised as deep dish but was definitely more of a deep-pan style. It was pretty good but the tomato sauce was a bit too sour for my taste. I would probably eat here again and try their other specialty pizzas. I am a huge fan of thick crust/deep dish pizza so this place did fulfill my cravings. Staff were nice upon us picking up the pizza. Didn't dine in so cannot speak regarding the ambiance.

Yelp
This spot is forever nostalgic and I'm glad they haven't given into modernization. They have great lunch specials and a solid rewards program. The rules: Get the deep dish on wheat of whatever you want. Get a side of ranch. Eat to your heart's desire (which will probably be less slices than you're used to). Caveats: Sometimes the service is amazing and sometimes it leaves a lot to be desired. You HAVE to like deep dish/doughy pizza. No prissy foodie stuff here, it's old school.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in the whole entire world. I've been coming here since I was born. the service is great, and there is a lot of cool/good art so I totally recommend it. 10 s

Yelp
We decided to visit on our way out of town back to Fort Worth, because our family in the Austin area raves about this place, and it's easy to tell why! First of all, it has such an awesome ambience - all the beautiful wooden interior in combination with tons of real greenery. We sat in one of the elevated areas with tables that has a TV (we sat in the front area, but there's another in the back too), but they also have lots of intimate booths as well. The staff was very nice and helpful, and the wait for fresh pizza was very reasonable. The pizza was delicious, we both tried the wheat dough as recommended - my husband did deep dish and I did thin. The underside of the crust is neat and unique. I also liked that they have Maine Root sodas. And if we lived close to this place, we'd absolutely be taking advantage of their lunch deal regularly. Very glad we stopped by, would definitely visit again when we are in the area!

Yelp
This is such a blast from the past. We went to celebrate a birthday that was coincidentally the same day as the original Conan's Pizza opened in 1976, and so many memories of the 1980s came rushing back just being in this space that looks like it hasn't changed since that era. The interior is rustic with lots of wood beams and bannisters, with hanging plants that add some life, and so much Conan the Barbarian fantasy art adorning every space, along with other comic book art and similar subjects. There are so many instantly recognizable 1980s elements like the tables with thick clear coat, a couple of elevated dining areas that look down on the booths arranged around the edges, and even mirror walls that make the space look larger. You honestly won't realize all the way things have changed in restaurants until you step back in time here and it all comes flooding back. We ordered a large pan pizza since that's their specialty and went for one of the designed favorites that had artichoke, tomato, garlic, and spinach, and just added chicken and hamburger for the carnivorous barbarians that we are. We also picked the whole wheat crust which is another retro element that I don't remember seeing elsewhere. Sadly they messed up and didn't give us pesto sauce instead of the regular tomato sauce, and I'll say the meat was pretty skimpy although delicious. But overall the food tasted great and while the price was steep at about $32, it was worth it for the nostalgia and the portion fed three people fine. Do expect to wait a bit, though - it was over 30 minutes to be delivered to our table. And this was on a Wednesday afternoon with only a couple other tables active. Of course you can also order your pizza to go too, but you really shouldn't miss out on the amazingly vintage experience complete with loud 1980s music, a handful of old arcade games in front, and tons of personality throughout. It may not be the best pizza ever or the best price, but you can't find an experience like this anywhere else.

Yelp
Unfortunately pizza is getting sad looking to the point it asked me why he was made. Pictures is a deep dish pizza supposed to have fluffy thick crust but looks more like thin crust. Ingredients still meh. Pizza seemed dry, not moist and popping with flavor.. not really worth $20.

Lisa R.

Yelp
So I've been back a few times and definitely better service and food. Our family really likes ordering ahead to let the pizza cool a bit which I absolutely love that they do that. When I order, they take my number and instantly know what we always order. I love their pizza and salad. The Savage with its veggies minus anchovies adding jalapeños is so good. The nicely toasted white deep pan crust with warm red sauce and Parmesan cheese is the best. I try to eat one slice but it's always 2-3. The large pizza is always enough for the four of us. With the delicious salads containing onions, shredded cheese, olives green peppers and great dressing it's now our favorite place especially for deep pan pizza. They haven't run out of anything since that one time. So glad because it's a great place to hang out with our young adult kids who can fully appreciate the old Austin feel and great food.

Yelp
Still living this place ten years later! Such a cool vibe and I love coming here whenever I want old school Austin.

Terry B.

Yelp
Ordered Margarita pizza and pepperoni & mushrooms pizza. Got home (8 miles) and found pesto pizza and not pepperoni and mushroom it appeared to be sausage and no mushrooms. Called to talk to person who represented themself as the manager. When asked what I ordered I said Margarita and pepperoni and mushrooms. She responded we don't make Margarita pizza. My comment was why did you accept my order. The response was we don't make Margarita pizza. She then said "what to you want me to do about it." At that point I couldn't see any likelihood of satisfaction from this person so hung up. So beware of ordering and getting a correct order or satisfaction if you don't. Do not recommend this store.

Yelp
We had not been to a Conans since the early days down on Guadalupe. We aren't fans of deep dish, so they just weren't on our regular pizza rotation. A friend recently mentioned that they now also serve thin crust. So in we went. The Anderson Lane location is pretty close to home. What a great surprise! We asked for the thin crust extra crispy and they provided a delicious pie. The toppings were very generous and tasty. The service was great and the manager stopped by the table to check on us during dinner. The atmosphere is laid back and the booths give you some pri We will return and we now have a new pizza joint

Yelp
Conans North is still a great pizza place, the pizzas are still one of the best! Unfortunately, on a recent trip to Conans North I found they had switched non-alcoholic beers from one of the best NA beers (Athletic Brewing Co.'s "Upside Dawn Golden") to an awful product called Best Day Brewing Kolsch style. This replacement tasted like watered down apple juice and had nothing in common with beer. I will still go to Conans North when I want a pizza but I will not waste my money on their replacement NA beer.

Yelp
Came here for lunch early on a Sunday afternoon. The wait to order was fairly short and our pizza took about a half hour to make. There were plenty of open tables, but also quite a lot of take out. By the time we left we overheard it would take 75m for a deep dish pizza. It was Super Bowl Sunday, but it was early enough in the day that I don't think this was the cause. Your enjoyment of Conans will very much be a function of your expectations. If you come in expecting it to compare to what is available in Chicago or even other major cities deep dish wise I think you'll come away dissapointed. If this is your first time having deep dish or if you compare it to the Austin pizza scene as a whole I think you'll really enjoy it! The major pros for me are the deliciously soft dough, erring heavily on the cheesy side, and level of customizability. Usually the latter is a bad sign to me on the quality of a base pizza, but I thought even their regular pepperoni pizza was quite good. The service is also quite friendly and the vibe overall is very welcoming, can certainly see this becoming a more regular spot. Surprisingly the crust did give me frozen pizza vibes, odd given the base of the pizza came out pretty good. I didn't love the sauce, and generally that is the most important aspect of deep dish so I get why its received so much heat on here. However the pizza being so cheesy makes up for it in my mind, but I'm more of a cheese person. The only other con I found was that it is noticably thinner than any other in restaraunt deep dish I've had. Overall, I think this spot is worth checking out, but coming in with the appropriate mindset is key. I'm very happy a place like this exists in Austin, but I think it could easily be forgotten in my mind if a better deep dish option were available nearish to me

Carlos G.

Yelp
Great food with a unique atmosphere, the whole wheat savage is my go to pie. Takes you back in time sitting in those wooden booths.

Yelp
The photos we saw online did not match what we saw in person. Online it seemed like a nice bistro, but it is an odd ambiance. Many photos of fantasy style figures, perfect for kids. Booths are rather small and uncomfortable for 4 people to eat more than one pizza as there is not enough space. The service was a little rough, they yell your name out rather than bringing food to table and it's an awkward space to walk through. The calzone was pretty good. The wait time they told us for food was over 45 min. It did not take that long for the calzone, but it did for the pizza. They advertise they have wine however they only have two options of dry wine, no other types.

Yelp
I love their tavern style gluten - free crust. If you check in on Yelp, you get free vegan Daiya cheese. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, but I couldn't taste the BBQ sauce. I asked if they added BBQ sauce, but they said it was mixed in with the marinara sauce. All I tasted was marinara and no BBQ sauce. They didn't even toss the chicken in BBQ sauce like CPK does. Luckily, they gave me two sides of BBQ sauce at no additional charge. My recommendation would be to omit the marinara sauce completely and spread BBQ sauce only.

Yelp
Pretty good pizza. Service was just ok. Wish the food came a little faster and was a little cheaper but it's fine for the ambulance

Lisa A.

Yelp
We have been going to Conan's for decades. Never has any issues with our request for extra sauce extra cheese. At some point, they started charging for the extras...no problem! But then they were charging for the extras but not adding extra (Anderson Lane location). Talked to a manager today and he said they weigh everything and if we asked for extra, we got it. My husband responded that we've been getting less sauce and cheese than before but with the extra charge (it's true...parts of the pie has no sauce at all and there are holes in the cheese coverage but they still charged us extra). Manager Charles didn't care. Needless to say, we cancelled our order and won't be back. We'll be going to Saccones. It's a different pie, but they are more than fair with their extra sauce and extra cheese.
google avatar

Yelp
Great customer service and even better tasting deep dish pizza! We got the sauce on top and did not regret.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. I *really* did. Walking in and see the video games (Area 51! My favorite!), and seeing Star Wars playing on the TV--this place is calling my name. There are multiple seating areas, some elevated, some on the regular floor, and some toward the back. Keeps the restaurant from having massive noise. We ordered a deep dish pizza and a thin crust. We didn't mind the wait--fresh pizza is always worth the wait. When we checked our order, the pizzas looked great, so we headed home. That's when it all went downhill. After eating one slice of each, we realized the problem. It's all about the sauce. Our pizzas were bland. Scraping the sauce off improved the thin crust pizza. That crust is great. But for the deep dish, that was a disaster. Such a disappointment.

chris p.

Yelp
Many years ago, this was the first place I ate a gourmet pizza. It's still delicious. I always get a deep dish, usually whole wheat. It's a perfect pizza crust. The toppings are generous and tasty. The beer selection is good. The service is friendly. Give it a try.

Yelp
I love pizza, but bad service puts a bad taste in my mouth. Everyday in my job I'm told to give the customer a reason to return. Make them feel valued because after all they are the reason you are there. So, for starters, when a customer is standing at the register...and standing...and standing, while 4 guys are in the kitchen (one replaced the till while chatting with the others and walked off without even a glance) and the girl upfront saunters in and just stand there (so much for a greeting) these action don't inspire ME to return. Austin has good food on every corner making bad behavior by the staff one good reason not to return. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the pizza was good as always. HOWEVER...I ordered fajita chicken and I got pepperoni...hmmm similar right...NO! I ate it anyway. And love that the walls haven't changed since I first discovered Conan's MANY years ago.

Yelp
Great food, great service. Never disappointed with yummy tomato sauce and generous toppings. Wish they had a location near UT campus.

Yelp
This place had been on my list for ages but I'd somehow never stopped by until yesterday. We loved it! It was honestly like a blast from the past. Childhood pizza place memories came on strong and it was truly refreshing (especially in Austin's current atmosphere of endless over the top, yet underwhelming restaurant hype). No frills, old school vibes, a little dark and moody, writing on the walls, comic book memorabilia, a couple of arcade games in the front, friendly service, and good pizza. This is now officially a staple on our family's rotation. Thanks for existing, Conans Pizza!

Shelby L.

Yelp
Really good pizza! I got the small pan pizza and it tasted amazing. Definitely recommend eating inside. Rock and roll music and cool vintage decor. Loved the vibe of the place and the people are really nice and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is best experienced in person, BUT UNDERSTAND that due to staffing shortages (like at most place right now) you must be patient with the staff who are working because they are doing their best to provide you quality food and a great dining experience! Very casual and laid back, with a unique ambiance that most places lack! Keeping Austin weird is more vital than ever, and Conans is the place to do it at! The food is delicious and I feel it's best to dine in instead of take out because it's all about the experience here! Staff is friendly and helpful for first timers. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
Worst deep dish I've had and far from the good stuff in chicago. Dough and crust tasted like nothing and was so stale. The sauce had so many unchewable pieces of tomato skin in it. I had high hopes -- this being my first time at Conan's. I wouldn't go back, not even for a free pizza.
google avatar

Brent C.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in Austin. Appetizers are bomb too. Delivery is fast. Ordering in is fast as well. Very near artwork

H R.

Yelp
Been loving Conan's since they opened, esp. Conan's South!! Yes, it's stuck in a wonderful time warp, but the pizza & salads (& now booze) have always been & still are awesome. Also usually great customer service. Whole wheat deep dish Savage pizza is the best!! Y'all who mentioned old fantasy hero art--Frank Frazetta is kinda famous. His artwork makes this place even more special.

Yelp
Was driving around on Christmas Eve looking for good to eat in Austin. I ordered a gluten free vegan pizza. The customer service was really good , but it was the worst pizza I've had in my life. On top of that it was $28 for a medium gluten free vegan pizza! The vegan cheese was dumped on top unmelted and the veggies were completely flavorless. I probably wouldn't have cared of it didn't cost so much and the wait was 35 mins. I'm beyond disappointed in this food and I don't recommend this place to anyone
google avatar

Kara M.

Yelp
I'm not sure where all the hype comes from for this place. I really wanted to like it, especially after seeing the many reviews raving about it, along with their menu. It's a very swanky, interesting little setup (arcade games, neat, mismatched art all along the walls, cozy little hidden booths). The workers were cool and the service was good, but I can't really say the same for the actual food itself - especially for the price point. We spent about $63 before tip on our order, and it was severely lacking in flavor and value. Food ratings: - Caesar salad (3/5): Self explanatory. Nothing out of the ordinary. Decent. Would be better tossed. - Baked wings (4/5): Probably the only good thing we ate. They took about 15 mins. but are worth the wait - they're baked fresh and have good flavor. We dipped ours in ranch. - Sausage and mushroom deep dish (2/5) - Don't Choke Art deep dish (2/5) The pizza - what they're known for - was so disappointing. The crust reminded me of Chuck E. Cheese or equivalent. I understand we opted for deep dish, but it was too bread-y and just not tasty, but that's also because the sauce was not it (the sauce makes the pizza!), it was bland and almost too sweet! Overall just not good, and I don't think we'd ever opt to come back, especially with so many pizza options in the market.

Yelp
I like to think of myself as an MVP, "Most valuable Pizza Eater" No one loves pizza more than I. I've heard stories about Conan's pizza, and how long they've been around Austin. This place has to be considered a true Austin original. I ordered the small wheat crust "Savage" deep dish, easily a 10/10. The flavors on this pie are down right delicioso. I've had my share of deep dish pizza, and I loved how this particular pie was loaded with fresh ingredients. I'm already craving another visit. I love the decor, it felt like Conan's was trapped in the 80s with all the actual Conan the barbarian pictures everywhere and the wooden booths. Never change Conan's, never change!!!! There was one of my favorite video games inside also (Area 51) There's plenty of beer options as well, the only thing I would recommend is maybe a coke freestyle drink fountain, something to make refills better; instead of buying multiple bottle Coke's when you're thirsty.

Graham J.

Yelp
This is my first review I've ever done and I just feel the need to warn people about how overpriced and underwhelming this pizza place really is. The service was ok but nothing special. The food overall was just very unpleasant to eat. The sauce they use has to be from the pizza lunchables. The cheese bread we ordered was just plain HEB bread with kraft singles slapped on top. Our actual pizza used way too much of that lunchables sauce and the bread was beyond stale. We ordered a Lg deep dish pizza, cheese sticks and got a 2 L DP which equaled $55 and is just far over priced. Very disappointing and will never be going back.

Yelp
Really thick and hot pizza with great flavor and the vibe of the building is also great. I also like how friendly the staff is, I would totally go back and recommend others to go to Conan's!

Yelp
My dad and I are from Phoenix, and my dad grew up in Austin and worked at Conan's back in 1979 to 1981. He and an old friend of his, who also worked here, took us here while my dad and I are in Texas. And the food was DELICIOUS. The atmosphere was just how they remembered it, some new things regarding the menu and decor and beer selection but other than that it was just as it was when they were here. The service was impeccable. The manager was very nice and helped my dad out with the menu. There was a very tall man who picked up our plates (and he also told us he delivers pizzas) with cool piercings and nice hair, and we never got his name (or we just forgot ... I'm so sorry) and he was talking with my dad and his friend and made them feel so special, and especially understood. They really bonded and found a new love for Conan's, just this time as the customer. Thanks to the staff and the owner for making this experience so special for me and my dad. :)

Yelp
I ordered one large deep dish pizza on their website yesterday. It was a super easy process, and allows you to add different toppings to each half. We did the whole pizza with conan sauce, mozzarella, sliced tomato, canadian bacon, and pepperoni. Then one half had bacon, the other had feta and green pepper. After ordering it stated it would be ready in 60 minutes, which it was! We did curbside pickup, which worked seamlessly. Overall it was a very good pizza and I'd go back for deep dish next time I'm craving it.
google avatar

Dave M.

Yelp
I ordered a small pizza with Italian sausage for take-out. Simple, right? I get home and realized there was a very small amount of sausage, maybe three per slice. This is unacceptable. That might be how much you'd put on the pizza if the order has lots of different toppings, but you go cheap on them when there's just one is unacceptable. Not dining here again. I'm not overpaying for food and not getting value.

Yelp
I'm not a huge pizza fan and I have never tried deep dish pizza. In honor of National Pizza Day, I decided to give Conan's since they are known for their deep dish. For appetizer we ordered their garlic bread. Although their marinara sauce paired well with the bread...the marinara sauce was cold. We had their Supreme deep dish pizza which was surprisingly tasty. I can't say that I would eat deep dish pizza again but it was a good to try it out. The dough was more soft and I prefer more of a crunchy crust. We did not like the garlic bread that came with the Caesar salad. It was good but overly drenched in butter. I think this place is solid if you're into deep dish pizza. But for me it was a pass.

Joe F.

Yelp
I don't get into this part of Austin often enough. When I do it's either not lunch time or I forget about Conan's. Today it was lunch, and I didn't forget. I was extremely pleased they still have the slice + salad combo that they've had for, well, like forever. It was just as good as it was forever ago. It brought back many fond memories. Thank you for still being a little fragment still around of old Austin :)
google avatar

Peter B.

Yelp
as always the food, service and atmosphere are amazing! they have added some new items to the menu that are great and all of their regular items are just as good as ever! I've grown partial to the calzones these days.

Yelp
I tried Conan's Pizza back in the mid eighties and I fell in love for the first time. The amount of awesome memories and full stomachs I have enjoyed after eating here are countless. I have now passed the torch on to my son and he has been a true fan as well. We normally have a white crust deep dish with pepperoni and Canadian bacon but sometimes we get crazy and have The Savage!!! My wife loves their wings and you just can't beat the interior of the place. I was sad when they closed the UT campus location, but we still have Conan's North!!! It's not for everyone, but it is definitely a favorite of my family.
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
By far the worst pizza I've had in my life, including frozen pizzas from the supermarket. Not only did they forget to add red sauce to my pizza, the pesto they put on was soooo minimal that the pizza was bone dry. Probably would have tasted better to make "pizza" from supermarket bread. Also it cost $34! What a joke! Sorry, this was the worst trial ever. I wish I could get a refund but it was takeout.

Yelp
This pizza joint has been at this location for many years. The pizza quality fluctuates between 3 1/2 to 4 stars. It's definitely a step up from frozen pizza but I've definitely had better. I'll give them credit for being very consistent over the years since I used to be a regular customer back in the early 90s until I moved away. One thing you may wish to know is that they do not make single slices of cheese pizza. It's always been a decent place to grab a slice and a pint for a reasonable price. The craft beer selection is limited but still pretty decent. For 3 slices, a pint of beer and the tip, it came out to 20 bucks.

Yelp
Highway robbery! This is ridiculous!!! My daughter was craving a vegan pizza (we usually make it ourselves). She ordered on line and paid without me looking at the total. I could not believe what all they were charging us per topping. First and let for us. Never again.

Yelp
I will preface my review with this: I haven't tried many other deep dish pizzas in Austin. However, Conan's is my favorite so far! I've ordered it a couple of times now so a review was due. I'd recommend getting the wheat crust and having the sauce on top if you love Marinara. The only "downside" of Conan's is that their delivery radius doesn't reach my address but it's definitely worth the drive!

Yelp
Never ever leave Austin without try the Deep dish wheat pizza... been a fan for over 25 years! It is the Monster that I crave it is a true art form. Eat it hot and be prepared for the succulent burst of flavor! Okay folks if you read my reviews I don't post unless it is post worthy and being a food critic is my volunteer job to society This location only ... tried the south not the same. The Days when it was across from UT are a great memory!

Yelp
It wasn't great. Staff was nice but definitely a downturn in the quality. USED to be terrific pizza...it lost it's luster for me I wish these places would follow the old recipes and charge accordingly. Happy customers actually return.

Yelp
Good vibes and great pizza! The staff on New Year's Eve was very warm and professional. The person who took our order was very polite, the person who cleaned our table was nice and the person who brought us our salads and pizza was also very warm and welcoming. The music and atmosphere was great and the pizza was excellent.

Yelp
Conan's is simply the best deep-dish pizza offering in Austin, and has been for over 40 years. We love the whole wheat crusts, the fresh vegetable toppings, and the ample salads. There's no pizza quite like The Savage anywhere else.
