Miami’s 12 Best Caribbean Restaurants | Eater Miami

"This Bahamian joint’s fare is addictively tasty and unwilling to bend to American tastes. The heartwarming food menu opens with breakfast options of corn beef and grits, boiled fish, and pig feet souse, followed by a deeply-flavored feast of cracked lobster, curry chicken, and fried crab. The island’s favorite sea treat, conch, is served scorched, grilled, stewed, or in a burger. Dessert of guava duffs is an excellent cap to the meal." - Juliana Accioly

Today was an amazing experience at Conch Heaven. My husband and I drove 2 hrs for this food, and it was beyond worth it. 1. Everyone was so friendly. They were busy but were never rude. 2. The food was so fresh and didn't take long. 3. The tropical punch is made in-house. It's a bahama mama without the rum. So delicious. I will definitely be back.

If you want a slice of Bahamian food and culture, especially the hospitality than look no further. This stand out brightly colored shop in the middle of Miami will also stand out in their food as well. The moment I walked in, Nicole took the best care of me, let me know that although she’s busy she acknowledges me. After placing my order we sat and drank the amazing sky juice that is highly recommended, a unique experience like no other. After patiently waiting for our fresh to order food we received the feast that awaited us. The most tender cracked conch, and refreshing conch salad. The conch fritters were dark but not overcooked, filled with conch meat and flavor in every bite, (I hate an all bread and peppers conch fritter) , Johnny cakes fried shrimps fried perfectly, macaroni, peas and rice (also do yourself a favor don’t skip because the depth of spice and warmth that coats your palate every time you take a bite of the peas and rice is worth getting alone) potato salad. We practically ordered the whole menu and it was worth it! We had gotten plenty of the calypso sauce and scotch bonnets for condiments. Pro tip, add scotch bonnets to the calypso sauce and to the conch salad! It took it from amazing to perfection!

My husband and I recently visited Conch Heaven while in Miami, and it was such a great experience! The food was absolutely amazing — full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We were lucky to have Harriet as our waitress, and she truly made our visit extra special. She was so friendly, attentive, and just an overall joy. Her warm personality made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town! Highly recommended.

From the moment we walked in, Quatika greeted us with such a warm welcome. She was hospitable and patient and answered all the questions I had about the menu. She had several customers in the lobby and still maintained a positive and kind attitude. The cracked conch is INCREDIBLE! I ALWAYS ask for extra conch sauce but honestly you can eat this conch without the sauce with just a little lime that’s how good it is. The conch fritters were ridiculously amazing. I don’t eat most conch fritters because it’s usually too greasy or not enough conch but Conch Heaven NAILED IT! So fresh, tender and seasoned the chef nailed it. Amazing service, fresh food, great vibes Conch Heaven will forever have my business.

Food came out fresh and taste good. Sat inside in the dining area, clean and spacious.

My first time eating there 5/20/25 I ordered the fried conch dinner They're signature conch batter is unique & unmatched .. quite DELICIOUS. They are not stingy with the food.. 5⭐

This morning's breakfast was an unexpected yet delightful treat—boiled fish. While simple in its preparation, the flavors were anything but plain. The fish was perfectly tender, cooked just long enough to keep its natural juices intact. What made it stand out was the subtle seasoning that enhanced the fish's freshness without overpowering its natural flavor. The delicate balance of herbs and spices, likely a hint of lemon or vinegar, provided a refreshing tang, while the fish's texture melted effortlessly with each bite. Paired with some fresh butter grits, it made for a wholesome and satisfying breakfast. It was light on the stomach, setting the perfect tone for the day. Boiled fish may not always be a breakfast staple, but after this meal, it has certainly earned its place in my morning rotation.

Google
Everything is a 5-star except they don't give you enough conch for the price. If they could put more conch on the plate, it would be amazing. My husband and I ordered a seafood combo. It wasn't enough for 2 people. We had to order another one, but I would still go back. The conch was very tender!

Yelp
In on a Thursday at 5:30 for dinner. 3% Non Cash Adjustment. Music is loud. Second time here. Not busy. ORDERED: Conch Fritters (6) $7 Good Cracked Conch with 3 sides $25 Peas & Rice, Lettice & tomatoes & Johnny Cake. Cake very flat. Brought it home. I have had cracked conch in Miami and the Bahamas. This needed to be tenderized more. Very Chewy. Server Natesha did a good job. Will go back for something else.

Yelp
The fried shrimp and fried conch is so flavorful despite it's price of $29.70. Too bad I realized after I drove off that they left off one of my 6 shrimp. Their posted sign in the pick-up area is: check your plate before leaving. Conch balls are excellent and the conch salad is refreshing. If wondering the type of fish served for boiled fish meal is grouper. It is expensive at $30 for a large 2-serving styrofoam takeout container.

Yelp
I've had them bookmarked for years. I just decided to finally stop in. They were friendly when we came in. The air was booming! It was freezing in here, coming from a person who sleeps with air in the winter, from Chicago! Anywho, we dined in and ordered oxtails and jerk chicken. It took the food about 20mins to come out, but when it did, it was piping hot! Which I can definitely appreciate. I hadn't eaten all day, so I was eager to get this food in my belly. It didn't disappoint! My oxtails were very tender and seasoned really well. These were the best oxtails I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. Only negative, is their portions are a little small. They should up the price and give us more. It's ok, I just have to come back for more!!!

Yelp
Not too many places in Miami where you can get authentic Bahamian conch salad. This is one! This is as close as you're going to get to the islands.... The conch fritters were really good as well. They also have Sky Juice! And it's GOOD!

Yelp
We were in the area and decided to stop on for a quick authentic Bahamian snack. We parked in the back of the building and accessed the building from the rear entry. From this entry point, takeout orders are placed in a designated area. We immediately noticed that there were renovations that had taken place since we were last in. There is a counter and a tv behind the bar that displays the live band that is on site in the main dining area! There were menus available for grabs across the bar and there are bar stools and a few tables available for you to occupy while you order and/or wait on your order. We ordered the seafood combination (3) which comes with 3 seafood options and a side order. We ordered double fried shrimp, cracked conch and a side of fries. The order is cooked to order, and was available in less than 10 minutes which is a plus. The order comes with a few pairing sauces, utensils and napkins.

Yelp
Walked in and said, "fryers are broken", after taking someone else's order and were obviously just being lazy.

Uky B.

Yelp
Love the breakfast. Missed Bahamian food since I left the island in while ago. I also had the tuna and corn beef. My favorite was the tuna/and grits and the Johnny cake topped the cake for me. Will def go back for breakfast. I did try their conch burger the day before but that was a waste as it was very little conch and taste dry

Valda R.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Prices are very reasonable. I wanted food with flavor and Conch Heaven was it. I give Conch Heaven 5 out of 5.

Yelp
Love their conch salad; very fresh, like the portions and was not tough. The wait was not long. This is truly a take-out place.

Yelp
Hello! On 3/23/24 Saturday after 80m I ordered fried grouper & fries& the fries were half burnt hard & greasy, the fish was greasy falling apart with no seasoning but salt, the young girl who serviced my takeout was albino with no customer service experience, I arrived home noticed it wasn't worth the effort to even eat the fish & fries. My with went out side thru it in the garbage can because if it's not suitable for human consumption it's not good enough for dogs or cats, my family & relatives visit conch heaven weekly spending about $4-500.00 wkly & when that happened to me having that embarrassing moment at conch heaven thinking to myself, I feel better when I arrive home to begin eating, but that all changed the moment I opened the takeout grouper & fries dinner realizing the unexpected bad food I was served from Conch Heaven is just fit for a dog! By the way the grouper & fries dinner was $26 w $8 tip, I will never ever go to that awful restaurant conch heaven again unless my life depended on it, what a waste of time, money! What a waste of F&%king time & F%#king money, SHAME ON ME FOR EVEN GOING THERE!

Yelp
There were about 3 people in my group. I was excited to come after hearing this was pretty much a "staple" when it comes to conch in Miami. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. I guess I would have like a little more flavor. The sauce for the conch was tasty. While there, I also had the Mango daiquiri (with the added alcohol). It was a refreshing drink especially in this Florida heat. One of the major problems I had while there was the LONG WAIT time to get the food. I would definitely suggest ordering ahead if you'd like to go to try it. I wish I tried a little more things on the menu to get a better perspective of the menu.
google avatar

Danny N.

Yelp
No no no. The food was oily, and not good at all. Not to mention, when I saw my receipt it said "Asian People". I guess they didn't want to take the time to ask for our names for our order.

Marie A.

Yelp
So where do I start, first let's talk about the Crack conch. The Crack conch was so delicious and the rice and peas was phenomenal. Now on to the conch salad. The conch salad taste amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Danielle E.

Yelp
Boiled Fish I really had a taste for Bahamian boiled fish and grits this morning. I was going to go get ingredients to make it when I decided to find a place who prepares it. All ima say is conch heaven did not disappoint.
google avatar

Darnell W.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended by two friends and with good reason. Wow! The cracked conch with plantain and potato salad. A winner!!!!!

Yelp
The oxtails with peas and rice is absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back for some more good eats!

Yelp
The food is good here, but it depends on who the server is whether or not it's going to be good or bad; and that's not a 50/50 thing it's more like a 70/30 thing, 70% of the time you going to get a bad server and there's only about one or two servers that are professional here. I think the owner is so busy running his business, maybe it's a part of his culture or... no, I can't say culture because a lot of Bahamians are polite and thoughtful of customer service, so i guess it's part of his own personality that he doesn't particularly focus on good customer service, for if he did he would definitely hire better people to greet his customers; because customer service is the lifeblood to any business. I think for the same reasons, he doesn't pay attention to how his servers serve the food and how it's prepared in the back or how the production of the food to is be delivered in terms of eating a meal, because like One reviewer said they bring your items out one at a time and it seems to take forever to get your whole meal. It also seems to take forever for that whole process to start in the first place. Also the wait to even be acknowledged to take your order is tottally rude and unacceptably long. I general i still like this restaurant and the effort that the owner is giving, but he can take a class in how to properly operate and run a restaurant, thank you.

Yelp
10/10, good customer service and very friendly. The food was served fresh. I would recommend to anyone if your a seafood eater.

Yelp
My friends and I enjoyed the food at this place. Service was nice the food was good. We got the conch stew, grill shrimp, Johnny cake, fried cracked conch and shrimp with grits. Very good overall. I would recommend this mom and pop stop to friends and family. The place does need a upgrade, they didn't have lemon for my water. They gave me line which I was fine with.
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Absolutely NOT!! I had to update my review immediately. I don't know what happened. However, this place is horrible! Went on a late Saturday morning, arriving around 11 am with my mom and 2 sisters. Was able to sit and place our order within 10 mins or so after sitting down. It took almost 30 minutes, yes 30 minutes, just to get our drinks. It took well over an hour to get our meals. Everything that we ordered came out one at a time. We ordered boiled fish with grits. So, I really don't understand why it took FOREVER to get our meals. Mind you, I ordered Johnny cake that I didn't receive. The food was okay, service was complete trash! I don't know what is going on here, but this AIN'T IT and I won't be returning.

Yelp
Excellent conch fritters in Key West and I'm thinking, "Why doesn't New Orleans have restaurants that feature the conch?" Conch is most indigenous to the Bahamas, and is typically served in fritter, salad, and soup forms. The chew is reminiscent of squid but thicker and also very chewy. I personally prefer conch fritters and conch salad. The salad is served cold, much like the classic Spanish gazpacho. It has a very fresh taste on your palate and it leaves your mouth feeling clean. The fritters are best when freshly frIed dipped in a remoulade like sauce. Perhaps I'll start my own Bahamian style conch fritter food truck??? It's delicious

SHAWNA H.

Yelp
I waited an hour just to get this. Pigfeet Souse Cup 3/4 full. The cooked & TOUGH. Not Happy. Definitely on the fence about coming back.

Bra'la B.

Yelp
Omg conch salad was so disgusting. I'm mad I drove from Lauderhill to Miami for this bs. The conch taste like ocean water literally. The taste was so bad I'm pissed. I even tried to add seasonings at home and still bad. There was so many vegetables in the conch salad it didn't make any sense. They don't even make it in front of you , it was brought out from the back.

Gregory S.

Yelp
Sour conch, twice same visit and the server was epic with the response of it's all the same batch ‍
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
The fried grouper nuggets were amazing and the conch salad! Great customer service!!!

Yelp
It's been a while since I've eaten at Conch Heaven. The restaurant has been remodeled. It was very nice and comfortable. We were able to select our seats. Our waitress was Precious. She has a great personality. She was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. The conch was fried perfectly, the potato salad was just as I imagined I wanted it to be. Service was great, food exceptional. Great place and great food.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
The pork souse is awesome The fried conch is good The fried fish could be better The dining room is nice and intimate
google avatar

Totyana H.

Yelp
Best Bahama Mama in town! My order usually differs each time I come but you can't go wrong with the conch salad! Although it could use a bit more conch, it's always fresh and has the perfect amount of lime and spice.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Amazing Bahamian food. The best Bahamian restaurant in the east coast. Drove from Tennessee to buy

Dayana B.

Yelp
As a Bahamian who's been away from the Bahamas for over 11 years, I always try new Bahamians restaurants. Needless to say I was very disappointed with not only the service but the food as well. I ordered the fried chicken but they didn't have dark meat so I switched my order to the jerk chicken. The chicken wasn't bad but everything else was. I got jerk chicken w 3 sides. Mac, peas n rice and potato salad. The rice was a bit raw and hard. it needed to be steamed for at least 10 more minutes. That or it was just old microwaved rice. The cold potato salad just had huge chunks of potatoes and the eggs were minced. It was flavorless so I added some seasoning to it (thank God I took my food to go). The Mac was flavorless and looked old. The chicken was spicy and well seasoned. Now on to the attitude on that lady!! I walked in and greeted the people that was there. She didn't answer (cool). I sat there as she kept talking and to other customers who had their food already. I was completely ignored and just played it off by reading the menu. I had questions about the jerk chicken since they didn't have my original order (fried chicken but hey had no dark meat). I wanted to know if the chicken was cut up in pieces (like Jamaican restaurants) because I have a toddler (didn't want him choking on tiny pieces of bone). She completely ignored me and told the cook I changed my order to the jerk since they didn't have my initial order. The service was fast (about 10 mins) but that's more because it seems like they microwaved food and put it in the plate. As I was leaving, a lady walked in with her daughter for an order she did over the phone. The way the waitress (lady with locs) greeted her, you'd think I did something to offend her when I walked in. The service was night and day. I have some of the potato salad left over and it smells rancid! Mind, I made this order LAST NIGHT 7pm!! Not even 12 hrs ago!! If it went bad that fast, imagine how long ago it was made since it was refrigerated. Thank God it was only like 11 bucks. I wanted to order more food but her service turned me off so bad I only bought 1 plate (I should've just walked out). 2 stars are for how quick the "service" of microwaved food was and for the edible but salty chicken.

Yelp
The BEST cracked conch I have ever had and I travel over an hour to get my craving on the regular.

Schias A.

Yelp
Happy to find this local spot! My husband has been craving conch salad and conch fritters for awhile, and Conch Heaven did not disappoint. The fritters were fresh-tasting and the perfect consistency. The conch salad was very fresh and we loved the citrus flavor. We added some spicy peppers to it and that made it perfect. Oxtails were flavorful as well. Just wish they were a little larger. There wasn't much meat on them but the gravy was perfection. We'll definitely be back!

Valerie T.

Yelp
I've been a happy customer of this business for years until Wednesday. I purchased three dinners, 3 drinks and 3 salads totaling approximately $150 for my children and myself. To be specific the fried shrimp was salty, the fried conch and the peas and rice were tasteless and the conch salad was more tomato than anything. The best thing about the meal was the Goombay Punch. I called to inform management of the issue and was informed that I need to drive 32 miles one way back to the restaurant to prove my claim. I advised them of the distance and was told basically too bad. The Goombay Punch was good though. I cannot say anything bad about the young lady who served me. STAR was awesome.
google avatar

Monalisa D.

Yelp
My 2nd time coming here before 10 and them saying their kitchen is closed it closes at 9. If you are not gonna serve someone until 10 then change your time to 8:30p
google avatar

Sherlonda A.

Yelp
We had to visit Conch Heaven before leaving Miami as it was highly recommended by the locals in Miami as the best Conch joint in Miami. After tasting 2 dishes, Conch Salad and Scorched Conch, I highly recommend this spot! We were reluctant to trying the Scorched conch, but, a local paid $20 for us to try it because he knew we would like it. It was absolutely delicious. The conch salad was just like they make in Bahamas, fresh and prepared to ordee. The people (staff and natives) were so down to earth. We will definitely be visiting again.
google avatar

Travis H.

Yelp
I go back and forth with my cousin anout conch heaven all the time he loves the food but doesn't love the prices which i understand a d i don't. You simply have to pay for quality food bottom line and here at conch heaven the food is top notch!!! I've been coming here since 2012 and i haven't had one bad bad meal nor bad experience and thats a rare thing to capture in someone's mind. The fried shrimp is butterflied and fried till golden smh straight fire. Fried conch is like butter when you bite it not like other spots whose fried conch is tougher than leather not here a toothless man can eat this conch here . I've had a piece of the conch burger and that was also good. You can come here and find local celebrities sneaking in the back door to grab some good cooking without being harrassed by fans. I've seen plenty doing so. Don't believe the hype of other new and upcoming spots Conch Heaven is the real deal and here to stay. Must try!!
google avatar

Marshelle M.

Yelp
Clean and great customer service! I walked in at 1:55 and no one was waiting to order. The only other person in the place for his order moments after I walked in! #winning Now there are five customers who came after I arrived. We are socially distancing and everyone is wearing a mask. The counter is clean, seats are clean, sanitizer available and paper menus with foot operated trash receptacle. #theygetit #miamidadediningduringpandemic. I will review the food separately.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Star did a great job serving us today. The food was great quality and delicious! We ordered oxtails, two seafood combos, grilled conch and steamed conch. The amount of food is plentiful. We will return again.

Daniel F.

Yelp
It's the best for local Bahamian fare in South FL. I enjoy it so much I always order extr double portions of the conch salad and also the scorch conck. It's always very fresh and made to order I highly recommend conch heaven

Yelp
I give this place 5 Stars because honestly I cannot find anything bad about this place. The first time I went in about a week ago I ordered the Conch burger and conch salad. The conch on the burger was super tender and flavorful. The conch salad was one of the best my wife say she had and this lady loves Conch. My second visit I took the wife and we sat in. The place is not fancy which is to be expected for a neighborhood dive. Despite the place is adequate very clean and comfortable. My wife was going for the conch salad again but wanted something warm. She wanted to try the grilled Conch never having it and after it came recommended highly by the server she went for it. The server was so correct it the conch was super tender and the broth and veggies were very flavorful. The broth was amazing and took the dish over the top. I ordered the cracked conch which was lightly fried tender and very well seasoned. The food came out in a reasonable time and our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Will definitely be going back in the near future.

IB W.

Yelp
Just go. The food is authentic and filling. The ladies today were phenomenal!!! I got a conch salad, conch fritters and a strong and VERY tasty Bahama Mama.

Yelp
I have only been to this restaurant twice and both times I was disappointed. Decor: I don't really pay much attention to decor because I never intend on eating in at these types of restaurants. In the order there isn't much seating but they do have a larger sitting area around the corner. Food: My favorite thing here is the festival. Everything else was a disappointed. They put sugar in almost every dish. I am not one of those black people that's into all that sugar in my food. I could taste sugar in the rice. I could taste sugar in the mac and cheese. Sugar in the oxtails. If you're getting some fried, that would probably be your best bet as I would hope that it doesn't have sugar in it. While the festival is delicious, it isn't enough to make me come back to this place unless I am in the area. Staff: It is a hit or miss with them. Some days they want to be there and some days they don't. But that's food service in general.

Kay E.

Yelp
Was in the area today and had to stop to one of my favorite spots, especially to get conch. Conch fritters were good, conch in every bite! The potato salad was BANGIN!!!! Omg it was theeee best. However...today the peas and rice had NO sign of Freeport, Nassau, no part of the Bahamas in it! That was very disappointing. It was very bland lacking the signature Bahamian flavor. Otherwise they are good!

Andre M.

Yelp
It's 930 right now...the place closes at 11 she told me if I didn't make an order over the phone I can't put a order in.....you try to support your own but always end up disappointed.... I'm not including the travel time about 1hr to get there bcuz I heard it was decent food... I won't be back...
google avatar

JJ D.

Yelp
American workers don't know the different between thigh and breast snack. Drove all the way from Pembroke Pines for the wrong order. Despite this experience that happens often, this is one of the best bahamian restaurants in south Florida, really enjoy their lobster salad with no mayo, because it's made like a conch salad. The crack conch is good and so is the chicken in the bag, the baked Mac could use some onions and sweet pepper to be better but others that I've eaten with there enjoy it more than I do, peas and rice is a little oily sometimes but good none the less. Chicken snack never disappoints unless they give me white meat when I ordered dark.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by today to get some Bahamian food the food was great ! But the service sucked ! The lady taking orders was very rude and rushed us to order and had a very bad attitude.. this place seemed to be pretty busy for the hour we were there so if she had more help in the front maybe her attitude would have been better ! 3 stars bc due to being rushed and having a bad attitude

Yelp
Prices are okay for seafood service from a young man in college and he was a great guy food well damm it's gone lol
google avatar

Yelp
Been coming here for years!! Takes me back to Nassau everytime! Conch salad always fresh and on point!! Even bumped into local celebrities at this spot!! This place is the best!

Aisha R.

Yelp
We went to conch heaven on a Friday and they had live Bahamian band playing. The opening is in the back parking lot area. It is very confusing to go inside the restaurant. When you eating I side the restaurant their is and area for take out and an area to eat in. We sat down the place is very small so when it is pack it is pack. The atmosphere was okay it needs more pictures paintings on the wall. Now to the most important part the food. We has the conch fritter, oxtail crack conch aka fried conch, peas and rice, white rice, bake Macaroni and cheese and Johnny cake. The conch fritter did not have enough conch inside so I was a little disappointed. The Johnny cake, crack conch, ox tail and macaroni and cheese was good. They did have the goombay punch and kalik which is the beer of the Bahamas. The restaurant need some updates in the decor and replace the seating in the restaurant to bring it in the 2000's.

Catherine B.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Really the taste and flavor of The Bahamas! Large portions, nice staff. I will be back and bring guest. My guest and I had the boiled fish and stewed conch, came with grits and Johnny cake. Delicious!
