Where To Eat And Drink In Coney Island

"If it’s a hot day and you won’t get in the water because you just rewatched Jaws, head to Coney’s Cones on the boardwalk to cool off. You’ll find more than 20 flavors of gelato and sorbet here like stracciatella, strawberry, and, our favorite, Coney Island Custard. Whatever you order, get it in a waffle cone. Sundaes and milkshakes are also available, as well as lighter icy lemon granitas. There’s nowhere to sit, so you’ll have to take your treat outside where you can shake your head at all those people in the ocean risking their lives unnecessarily." - neha talreja, bryan kim, matt tervooren, kenny yang

This is a very good location for those sunny days on the boardwalk. We stopped in to give it a try and weren’t disappointed, we got pistachio and Nutella crunch and were very pleased. Next time I come I’m going to try the Milano cookie vanilla since they were out that day.

Tony Anczer

Google
Neat place. A bit pricey. You don’t really have time to see what flavors are available before you have to place your order, which felt rushed. My son got a vanilla shake and it was pretty bland. I would have preferred Dairy Queen.

Coney’s Cones - Absolutely Divine Gelato - A Boardwalk Must-Visit! CONEY'S CONES is an absolute gem on the boardwalk, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment you walk up, you're greeted with a vibrant display of what truly is fresh and delicious gelato. The sheer variety of flavors is impressive, offering something for every palate, and each one I tried was bursting with authentic taste. What really sets CONEY'S CONES apart, beyond the incredible quality, is the service. The staff genuinely know how to serve gelato – a skill that's surprisingly rare! They create beautiful cones and, crucially, they give you a truly great portion for your money. It's clear they take pride in their product and customer experience. Honestly, this gelato stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the best we've had in European countries. If you're on the boardwalk and craving an unforgettable frozen treat, do yourself a favor and stop by CONEY'S CONES. You won't be disappointed!

Google
I love stopping by this beautiful little ice cream shop during summer! Don’t worry about the lines—they move fast. Great variety of flavors at reasonable prices. The mango/raspberry combo is a must-try! So refreshing. A perfect treat when visiting Coney Island! 🍦

Google
Underappreciated ice cream spot. I had the pistachio, hazelnut, and Coney Island Custard, each one was excellent. Light and airy, with a milky texture like true gelato. Felt very natural to me. None of the artificial coloring or overpowering aroma that plagues most pistachio ice cream out there.

Google
Wonderful! Been coming here for over 5 years and the ice cream continues to taste great! Staff is friendly and accommodating! It was cool to see that they also sell bombolones now and have added ice cream shake options. My favorite is their Nutella ice cream but the traditional chocolate and vanilla also taste wonderful! Tried coconut too this time and it was delicious! Must try when in Coney Island!

Google
The best damn homemade Italian Gelato, it's amazing and only $4.00 per scoop, yummy. 😋 It's worth coming/visiting Coney Island a "must have" when I visit. The Half Moon Food Court is the one that I frequent. Oh, and "Hats off to their wonderful staff working there yesterday and all of the staff employed at Coney Island, we love you, thanks for making it happen for us "you ALLLLL ARE ROCKSTARS!"

Sergei Naumov

Google
his place has the most delicious Italian ice cream I’ve ever had! Every week during the summer, I make it a point to visit the park for the fireworks, and I can’t resist stopping by for a scoop of this amazing gelato. My absolute favorite flavor is Cookie Monster—it’s so rich and flavorful, I keep coming back for more. If you’re in the area, you definitely need to try it. It’s a summer treat you won’t want to miss!

Yelp
I'm not an expert on gelato but this place definitely has some good gelato. Stopped in on a sunny Saturday and was served with a smile by the staff. It is a bit small inside the establishment and a better controlled flow can be worked on but no issues on getting in and out. Can't wait to come back and taste their Milano cookie vanilla.

Yelp
No bueno. Overall rough experience. Their gelato was so gooey and they STILL served it. It melted in literally 4 minutes. Their granitas blue raspberry tasted liked it had vodka in it, so we traded it out for cherry. Also... no bueno. We will never be a patron again. This was not a good experience and they're overpriced $8.00 for two mushy slops of goo. It really wasn't gelato. Maybe their coolers are broken, because I know the workers knew it too. Wait was quick though! There's that positive. The employees scooping kept correcting the other employees, but also rolling their eyes in the same moment. Team building would help this team of employees and some quality control from the manager on shift. Ambiance - it was clean, bright and I loved the menus. The branding was on point.

Lita G.

Yelp
The best damn homemade Italian Gelato in the world people, yummy! It's soooo creamy and tasty and place is truly what I love the best about Coney Island.

Yelp
While walking the boardwalk, we stopped in for some ice cream. You order and pay first and then proceed to the counter with your receipt to get your ice cream. It was a bit confusing because usually I like to see what flavors are offered in order to decide how many scoops I wanted to order. I ended up getting a Double Scoop ($7.50) plus cone (+$0.50). For flavors, I got the Milano and Coconut. They did let me sample flavors, which was nice. It was busy too, so felt rushed trying to pick my flavor and go. Nice spot to grab some ice cream to cool down while strolling the boardwalk. I wish they had some more flavors, but decent overall.
google avatar

Vincent W.

Yelp
Decent gelato and the price was semi affordable. The lines were fast and the staff were diligent with multiple orders. Since I had a small group, just ordered all together gelato regular cones. Then we told the gelato handlers two flavors. It's a small store with small variety of flavors and other options besides cones and cups. Make sure to grab napkins because it melts fast. The classic coneys cones are always a light option on a hot day on the boardwalk.
google avatar

Ylleana G.

Yelp
The staff was great and efficient. The atmosphere of the shop was also youthful and bright! The gelato is absolutely tasty, and if you're a fan of nutella, the hazelnut is at the top of my recommendations list.
google avatar

Yulissa C.

Yelp
It's a good sweet treat when you're craving one on the boardwalk. You have gelato and sorbet and many to choose from. Use to come here a lot when I worked at Coney Island for their iced vanilla lattes and those lattes were absolutely delicious!! Feels good to come back and taste their gelato again. I got the kiddie scoop which is one scoop for about $5 which is on the steep side. I believe 2 scoops is almost $8 but for the amount it's alright not too crazy. It does melt ridiculously fast so for sure eat and enjoy quickly. No seating area so you just pay first place your order and walk and enjoy it. Service was quick no line when I went but I remember before when there would be lines there be hardly no wait either.
google avatar

Kunyan X.

Yelp
It's a quite nice establishment on the Coney Island boardwalk. Ordering system is kind of old school but totally fine by me. You pay for the scoops first, get a ticket and hand it to another person who will now scoop your flavors. Non-diary options are Strawberry and Mango FYI. I got the Coney Island Custard, Milano Cookie and Pistachio. I normally avoid Pistachio flavored things because they're usually artifical and super neon green. The one here is more natural looking and it indeed tasted quite nice. Not into the Milano Cookie myself. Also the gelato melts crazy fast: I know gelato melts faster than ice cream, but my gelato started melting already as soon as I stepped outside the shop. I'll stick with my usual ice cream.
google avatar

Jon F.

Yelp
Was my affogato a little pricey? Yes, but that's what you have to expect from a popular tourist area. The espresso was good, and the ice cream was great - I got it with Milano cookie ice cream and I have no regrets Shop set up is a little weird. You pay in advance and then give your receipt to an employee who actually fills your order. I'm used to ice cream shops where they fill your order first and then you pay. Can cause the line to back up if there's a big or slow group of people in front of you, but then again, that's any line. It all works out.
google avatar

Mariah B.

Yelp
Stopped here yesterday on our day trip to Coney Island. A lot of people were working which made the line go extremely fast. For $4.50, I received a kid's scoop of chocolate gelato with chocolate sprinkles. It was extremely pricy for the size I got, but the scoop was more than enough for me. The gelato was fine but I've ate much creamier gelato in the past. The sprinkles had a weird taste which turned me off. If you're on the boardwalk and in need of a sweet treat, check out Coney's Cones. Just don't get the chocolate sprinkles!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Stopped in on a hot day for a little cold treat! The custard strawberry combo was delicious. It was about $8 for two scoops. They had some fun flavors. The strawberry tasted a little artificial but still tasty.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
My friend and I visited Coney's Cones. I have passed by many times on the boardwalk. They don't provide samples. I got the 3 scoop for $8.50 with a cone. I got the pistachio, coney custard, and mango. The pistachio flavor had a good flavor but the pistachio nuts on it were a bit stale. The coney custard barely had flavor. The mango flavor tastes somewhat like the frozen mangoes that aren't too sweet from Costco. My friend got the pumpkin spice flavor and it was okay but I wasn't a huge fan of the fall flavor either. The flavors were underwhelming and not creamy. The waffle cone was crunchy though.
google avatar

Tyla S.

Yelp
The ice cream was super tasty! I suggest going on a not so hot day because as soon as you got outside it was boiling hot and the ice cream melted in 2 seconds. The servers were very nice and did our order very fast, the scoops are hugeee! The shop can be particularly busy because it's so small but it is so worth it going to have this ice cream!
google avatar

Grace A.

Yelp
You're on Coney Island having fun and getting some sun. What else can make a good day even better. ICE CREAM. The service was cool and the line wasnt too crazy, this place has many flavors to choose from. The staple flavors, I kinda wished they had some crazy flavors you've never tried before but even so, that's ok. It was still good.
google avatar

Yara F.

Yelp
Yummy ice cream, and prices aren't terrible, but the set up where you order and get a ticket and then have to give it to a scooper is very disorganized and confusing to many. There was a woman who ordered 3 people before me who didnt realize what she had to do and was still waiting to pass off her ticket after I already got my ice cream, so just be aware of the fact that you have to tell someone your order!
google avatar

Stephanie X.

Yelp
Great spot for ice cream on Coney Island! I went on a hot Saturday, and the line for this place was absolutely crazy! Even though the line was long, it moved relatively quickly and we were able to get to the front of the line in about 25 minutes. They have a wide selection of flavors, and they even have granitas! I ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut in a Kiddie Cone, and it was the perfect amount for 1 person. The ice cream tasted just like nutella and had a super thick and creamy texture. It melted really quickly since outside was about 85F, but it was delicious while it lasted!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
On a hot summer day on the boardwalk, typically you crave an ice cold drink...or you guessed it...ice cream. Coney's Cones absolutely blew me away. There was a line out the door which was an obvious giveaway of either great ice cream...or desperate suffering hot patrons. Luckily, it was the demand for the incredible Ice cream. Very rich, just the right amount of sweet, and the scoops are generous.
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
Yummy!!!!!! I got chocolate and mint chocolate chip. Fast moving line and quick service. Delicious and would recommend!
google avatar

Austin K.

Yelp
We went here just based on the name, and didn't even think of looking at reviews beforehand. What seemed like a tourist trap actually sold very decent gelato, and I'm not a big fan of gelato! We got our ice cream on cones, which was nice as well - subtly sweet, but not a waffle cone. We got the milano cookie flavor, which has a base vanilla + mystery flavor that we couldn't figure out (banana? coffee?) along with these bits of milano cookies + nutella + oreo. It didn't really taste like that to me, but that's what the guy there said - it was still good. The coney island custard flavor was very nice, and I would get this flavor again - hit the spot right away.
google avatar

Yelp
Coney Island gets hot along the Boardwalk. It's likely one will get a craving of ice cream. The problem is usually in this situation the ice cream will be mediocre and overpriced. Here not so, it's pretty good and didn't make me go broke. They have quite a few flavors and sorbets. At the counter you pay for your size before you choose the flavor. Once you get your bowl, you take it over to the person at the ice cream. The ice cream is about $6 for two fairly large scoops. It's quite a deal around here. They have many flavors to choose from, including vegan sorbet. It's only natural you need some ice cream walking along the hot Boardwalk. It may be hard to find somewhere to sit, so it may have to be the beach. That's okay, because you can get a tan enjoying some good cool treats.
google avatar

Gatangalie S.

Yelp
Love love this place! A ton of different yummy flavor of gelato and ice cream. Take a break from the beach or drinking and stop in here while you are on the boardwalk. Try one of their ridiculously delicious sugar cone with a combination of two tasty flavored ice cream. What?! All just $4 or so. Seriously what are you waiting for?! Come in and enjoy then again who doesn't like ice cream. My favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla with Oreo cookies. Totally worth it after a long day on the beach and sun. Don't worry you won't have to wait for an extended amount of time. There are a lot of servers that will quickly take care of you. If you are unsure of what flavor you would like then that wont be a problem. You can try sampling as many flavor as you want until you are fully satisfied. Looking forward to visit again!
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
This is the only ice cream place where you pay before you get your ice cream. I paid and then waited 15 minutes. There are no defined lines. People just go around you in line. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Melissa I.

Yelp
Checked this place out after a day at Coney Island and so glad we did! The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered the Blue Raspberry Granita drink which was good. It was a little TOO sweet but still very refreshing on a 93 degree day! I also ordered a medium cup of one scoop of the Milano Cookie gelato and one scoop of the Coney's Custard - both of which were delicious! I will say the portion was a huge size and could easily have fit in 1 or 2 more cups! I would highly recommend this place and would love to come back next time!
google avatar

Andrew D.

Yelp
Every time I go to Coney Island I keep coming here for the homemade gelato. The line moves quickly even when we are socially distant on the line. And it was nice to enjoy the gelato with my spouse on a hot day at the beach.
google avatar

Arianna R.

Yelp
i'm visiting new york and needed some ice cream. the strawberry sorbet was really good. i recommend getting this ! it's very refreshing during a hot day at coney island. the mango milkshake was not good because it was watered down after being made into a shake. but the mango sherbet by itself was yummy.
google avatar

Kong L.

Yelp
I didn't have high expectations and thought it was your typical dessert shop but I was wrong. It was AMAZING! How could ice cream/gelato taste so good?! The texture was perfect and flavors were on point. I ordered 2 scoops - Mango and Pistachio. If I had to choose my favorite flavor out of the two, it would be a tie. If heaven made ice cream, this how it would taste like. The customer service was great. I can't wait to return!
google avatar

Intrigue L.

Yelp
Hit the boardwalk with my munchkin for a day out and she got excited as soon as she saw the ice cream statue so we went in... Cool staff but I found the gelato extremely sweet. Great portions as well and I love their cones.. so happy that they're open during the pandemic
google avatar

Shani A.

Yelp
O M G !!! Nutella ice cream never tasted so good !!!!!! And I've tasted so many j d cream flavors in my life . Honestly I came back for round two !!! At first I didn't think it'll be so good , I was craving for something sweet so I've waited in the line which was very long btw , yet it was def worth it . I've chosen the Nutella and pistachio , but came back for the Nutella again lol ! Go there !!! You'll thank me later
google avatar

Monica S.

Yelp
Surprisingly good gelato conveniently located right on the boardwalk by Coney Island amusement park and beach. I went here on a cloudy Saturday afternoon so I had the place all to myself. They give generous samples before you place your order. Nice variety of flavors but not so many as to be overwhelming. I tried the Nutella, hazelnut and cappuccino. All were good but I went with the hazelnut in a small cup for 4 bucks. Very good quality gelato, smooth and creamy without any of those pesky ice pieces I always find when I get gelato at other spots. There are no fancy toppings here but this gelato doesn't need them. It's good enough to stand on its own.

Becky G.

Yelp
There was three flies in the Cookie Monster gelato cone I bought a while back, and my friend got a scoop of nutella crunch in a cup, and there was also a fly in that. I didn't mind removing the flies with my spoon, however, what I thought would be a nice experience was not that great. The gelato melted really quickly, it was messy, really expensive, and wasn't worth it. Also, the worker from last summer that worked the mini coney cones stall by steeple chase told me they kept their ice cream overnight in a freezer for days to a week when the ice cream didn't sell. That, for 5.50 a scoop on a cone is ridiculous.

Riley A.

Yelp
The worst place I've ever been to!!! Manager was so rude and horrible. Never want to interact with her again. She told me that it wasn't her problem that I nearly threw up when I saw a FLY in my $12 bubble waffle cone!!!! Would not refund, or remake it. The workers were nice on their own, but the ice cream tasted so stale and horrible. Also there was a DAMNED FLY? HORRIBLE BUSINESS.
google avatar

Alexandra C.

Yelp
This is way too over priced for such little amount of ice cream. But hey it is Coney Island I shouldn't have expected more.
google avatar

Diane Y.

Yelp
If I came to Coney Island and I did not come to Coney's Cones, then I didn't really go to Coney Island. I have come here every time I visit for the past 3 years. I come here for one flavor in particular, the Milano cookie flavor. I get a small cup of Milano cookie, it has Milano cookie chunks in it and is one of those one of a kind flavors that I haven't come across anywhere else. I did also see a Nutella flavor on my last visit so I asked for a sample and it was delicious as well, but I still preferred the Milano cookie flavor. My SO typically gets a milkshake of the Milano flavor and I've stolen a few sips and it is just as delicious in any form. I highly recommend this particular flavor, the staff is really sweet about giving samples to customers and they have the sizes of all the cups in various places. It could get quite busy but the line moves fast!
google avatar

Fernando N.

Yelp
So many great flavors and the lines were long but I was in and out in about 10 minutes. They have their systems set in place to handle big crowds which was great!
google avatar

Isaih H.

Yelp
This place was lovely especially the staff service was quick and easy when it gets busy and your waiting in the sun that's a problem plus my ice cream began melting as I got outside like literally right after besides that I love it there but they could definitely use an A/C like it was hot I side and out which probably helped melt my ice cream either way I'd go back 9 times out if 10 so long as they have good A/C
google avatar

Hyo Jung K.

Yelp
I've had many great gelatos in my life. Based on those experiences, I can say the "gelato" I had at this location can't be called gelato. I thought I was having gelato for the mood at this place, not for the taste. But since the taste was even worse than my already lowered expectation, it ended up ruining the mood When I asked for a spoon of capuccino gelato for tasting, there wasn't a hint of capuccino there. I tried to give it a second try and tasted oreo gelato, and it didn't taste like oreo either. I wanted to cancel my order but it was too late because you pay in advance at this place. I went for fruit flavors, wishing that they were different... but no... so I've tried 4 flavors and all of them tasted sort of greasy. (how?) Staffs are not really welcoming either.
google avatar

Nunu T.

Yelp
I am a coffee addict and saw the "iced coffee" sign outside of Coney's Cones. Decided to go in and was pleasantly surprised ! Wasn't expecting much since it's mostly known for sorbet/gelato but the coffee was delicious. Perfect drink for a hot day. Loved it!
google avatar

Peter D.

Yelp
When it's disgustingly hot and sweaty, and you are unable to keep grimy, oblivious and/or obese folk from rubbing their semi-naked bodies against you as you wander down the boardwalk, gelato will help. Rich, creamy, perfect gelato. It may cost too much, and somehow the shop is hotter than being in the sun outside, but this is the sort of gelato that can keep you from getting stabby.
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
I haven't tried it yet but I love the colors I'm very into architecture so I had to snap a beautiful photo for this review ! Maybe next time I go I'll get some ice cream here
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
Creamy, large scoops are placed on your choice of cone. We opted for the basics, vanilla and coffee. Both flavors were far from disappointment. Creamy and not too sweet. Would I say they're the best scoops of ice cream I've ever had? No. But they were pretty damn good. Definitely a try-it-once kind of place!

Carrie M.

Yelp
Staff is RUDE and OBNOXIOUS, they refused to process my credit card because it expires next month, and laughed at me when I got upset. I would give them negative stars if possible. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Khoi N.

Yelp
Best gelato place in the area. The pistachio and cappuccino were very rich, creamy and affordable at 2 scoops for around $5.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Coney's Cones is a welcome addition to the Coney Island Boardwalk. Unlike other nearby establishments, Coney's Cones is clean, well-lit, and modern while still maintaining the feel of classic Coney Island. The ice cream is made by an Italian chef and it is amazing. I sampled a couple of flavors and they were outstanding. The staff was attentive and friendly, which also contrasted with the often sour service at other establishments in the area. And the air conditioning is a huge plus! The prices are pretty standard for premium ice cream - they're about the same that you would pay at Haagen Dazs or Coldstone - but the ice cream quality at Coney's Cones was vastly superior. If you're looking for a place for a quick and delicious snack on Coney Island, Coney's Cones is the place to go.
google avatar

Benson Y.

Yelp
On a beautiful Saturday I hung out at Coney Island and needed a tasty frozen treat! The sun was out, the boardwalk was hopping with music and people everywhere. After having devoured some Nathan's food about an hour beforehand, I went in to Coney's Cones wanting to try one of their Italian Ices. Coney's Cones is part of the newly revived Coney Island built up in the past couple of years. The store front is bright and welcoming but the inside takes getting used to. You order at the register, get a number then go pick up your order, but most people intuitively went to the counter to order first expecting to pay afterwards. Oh well. In the absence of my usual coconut or rainbow flavors, I decided to go with the Pina Colada flavor. It was wonderfully sweet and satisfying without being overly sweet. Sometimes ices have a part where all the sugar congeals at a certain part of the ice. Here there was none of that, just a beautifully done mixture of ice and flavor. I also got to taste the chocolate ice cream on a waffle cone and it was really intense. It was more "milk chocolate" in flavor than dark chocolate, meaning it had a rich sweetness that went very well with the waffle cone. I'm not sure I would have had it in a cup as it needed the cone to balance it out. Service was good and quick (considering the mob that was in there). I can't wait to check out Coney's Cones again!

Oscar C.

Yelp
The gelato they serve are just average. I had the Mango gelato and I didn't really taste the mango but I tasted more of a powder taste. My friend had the Amo. Cookie and she said it was very good but I think this place is a little over priced. The service is also so so here. They give you one free taste so pick wisely!
google avatar

Sara R.

Yelp
This place is brand-new so nicer looking than a lot of your typical finds on the Boardwalk. The ordering system is counter-intuitive as most people are drawn like moths to the flame straight in the doors to ogle the ice cream coolers. Much to their disappointment and confusion, no one there will give you the time of day if you have not first resisted the frozen dairy magnetism long enough to decide on a size, pay your money, and get a little white ticket entitling you to the unlimited tastes and treat of your choice. You have to go straight to the register, THEN to the good stuff. And it's goooooood. Fresh, interesting flavors. Perfect antidote for too much fried food in the hot sun. Get ready to scarf it though, because there's no indoor seating so you'll be back in the boiler right away. Oh, one gripe: the bottled water is twice as expensive and no colder than everyone else's, including the dudes selling it out of backpacks on the beach or the one that was RIGHT outside with a cooler. What's up with that?
google avatar

Wendy L.

Yelp
Yummy gelato and ice cream. You can sample as much as you want and they're big sample portions. Gelato was creamy. I got a mango kiddy cup size in a cone which was a big portion. Sooo yummy. The cashier was super rude screaming next guest a million times when no one was ready. The store is hotter than the actual sun... weird. It was quick and fast. Def a great treat to keep you cool through the summertime at the boardwalk! Definitely would've been a 5 star if the cashier wasn't rude
google avatar

Tunaidi A.

Yelp
Coney's Cones is one of the touristy ice cream/gelato places in the area that's actually surprisingly good. The flavors, though not as plentiful as other joints, are tasty. Nutella crunch was a nice change up from traditional hazelnut flavors. Very smart of Coney's Cones to ask patrons to pay first before obtaining their frozen treats.

Yelp
Very disappointed . At the time , governor lifted Covid restrictions, and masks are not mandatory , those guys who work there , continue to play their rules . I was refused service today for not wearing mask... really ???:(
