The 14 Hottest New Restaurants in Houston, May 2024

"The Conservatory is adding to Houston’s collection of food halls, setting up post in the heart of the Galleria area. Options run the gamut here: start the day with a smoothie or acai bowl at Thrive Juices, progress to a hot chicken sandwich from Bird Haus or birria tacos from Blk Mkt, and finish with Peruvian seafood plates at CVCHÉ. Keep an eye on the Conservatory’s instagram to track live events, concerts, and sporting events hosted at the hall." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

Came here for what was supposed to be a quick lunch and stayed for a few hours!! Met Andrew behind the bar who curated some amazing drinks for my friends and I to try! Was not disappointed at all! One thing that is great coming with a few friends is that we can order a little bit of all the drinks and try them all! Drew gave us a quick tour of the old Roxy bar area as well, which I never had visited before, but my friend Justin was in heaven reminiscing the old days of partying at the Roxy!! Also Aaron was our bartender keeping us hydrated throughout or visit. We ate some burgers from Clutch City, which were delicious and I'm excited to try the other restaurants that they have here. Great variety of all cuisines of food. This is their soft opening so was able to meet Chase the owner as well and talk with him about the upcoming opening and all they'll be doing to kickoff. The atmosphere here definitely is what kept us here a few hours. The music was jammin and was totally my style. I wished almost there was a rooftop pool to just keep it going (hint hint!) not sure if that could be a thing but I know I'm already excited to come back for HH and more food!

Great ambience on weekend right at lunch time. Busy but no more than 1 or 2 people ahead in line to order. Not a lot of seating so we pulled extra chairs around a table for 2 for our group. Such a fantastic selection of food - we ate from 5 different places and had drinks from the bar. Most of the food we really enjoyed. Prices are high - but we expected that going in since food halls usually are and this one is in the Galleria neighborhood. Very friendly bar tender. Will definitely return.

I came to check out the Galleria area’s newest food hall and was not disappointed! We originally came to try out a specific food stall but ended up spending quite some time at the bar area. We got the pleasure of hanging out with Andrew and Aaron who was slinging out some of the tastiest drinks I’ve had in awhile. Andrew explained all the cool things Conservatory has coming up which made us think this place was going to be our new fave spot in town. The food we at at Clutch City Grille was fantastic and I can not wait to try some of the other food stalls soon! I was stoked to see they still held on to some of the memories from The Roxy from back in the day. I highly recommend this place!

Google
They did such an awesome job with this place, the old Roxxy spot! There are plenty of places to choose from and two huge bars, one where you can hang out with family and children and the other section with 21+. The place is big with plenty of seating inside and outside as well. The vibe is great with music playing and very clean. I definitely will be coming back to try another food vendor!

This place is a must visit - Food, drinks, and vibes are top tier! Very convenient location as well if you’re staying in the Galleria are. Plus a live DJ who plays a good mix of music in the evenings.

This food hall is located where the Roxy club you to reside. Great variety in restaurants. Prices range from $10-15 per entree. Nice large bar located in the center. And The Roxy has a bar that opens after 5pm.

I had the BLK Market Birria chicken birria tacos. They were very tasty and the first Birria tacos I’ve ever had as I don’t eat beef. I will definitely be back to try the other food options. Also, the vibe was great!

Delicious food from La taquiza and Clutch City topped off with great drinks by Zane! We were in town for spring break, but will absolutely return when back in Houston! Great atmosphere!

Yelp
As a frequent diner at this food hall, I can confidently say that The Conservatory Galleria is a hidden gem that food enthusiasts must visit. This place is absolutely charming with its mix of spacious and intimate seating options, perfectly catering to any dining experience. During our visit, our party of four decided to explore a variety of dishes. We indulged in the Korean fried chicken, Kalbi BBQ, and birria tacos. Each dish was a delightful adventure in flavor, making our dining experience truly memorable. What stood out even more was the exceptional service from all the wait staff. The wait staff at the two locations were incredibly patient and helpful, answering all our questions about the menu with a smile. Their knowledge and enthusiasm about the food added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. The Conservatory Galleria offers a diverse selection of cuisine, from fried chicken to burgers to Mediterranean food. It's a food hall where you can satisfy any craving. I highly recommend coming with a big appetite and an open mind to try as many dishes as possible. Overall, The Conservatory Galleria is a top-notch dining destination that leaves you wanting more. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a variety of delicious foods in an elevated setting.

Yelp
There's a variety of food they offer. We ended up trying two places there, Seoulside wings and rice and Black Market Birria. From Seoulside,we got the honey butter fries which was fried to perfection with sweet, tangy sauce and the wings was crispy in the outside juicy in the inside we got the soy garlic. You can really taste the garlic and the sweetness of the sauce was on point. The beef bulgogi was really good as well. Just the right amount of food and it was well seasoned. If you love wings Seoulside knows how to do it well. From black market, we got the birria tacos. Meat was well seasoned and tender and it's just pure deliciousness. We truly enjoyed the meal and they both give you good size servings.

Yelp
This is more of a first impression kind of review than a full in depth review, but I was meeting some people here over the weekend and had no idea it existed. It's a food court right by the galleria so if you work in one of he offices nearby or you're in the area, it's a nice spot to grab some food. They actually have plenty of parking too which is nice. Longtime Houstonians will remember this as the location for the old Roxy Night Club with DJ Mark D broadcasting live on Saturday nights so whether you actually went to the club or not, this is part of Houston nightlife history! They have preserved that aspect of the club with the Roxy bar which is by the sitting area. Apparently they have a decent happy hour. I didn't have a chance to try any of the food this time around but just as a first impression it seemed like food truck types of food but unlike a food truck yard or something, you have air conditioning and a very clean environment here.

Yelp
I am SO excited to have this food hall in the Galleria area that's not inside of the mall!! For folks like me that lives in the area but wouldn't dare try to go into the mall just for food with all of that traffic. Or people who are staying in the hotels/airbnbs nearby and want a meal without having to make reservations or driving far. Or people that enjoys the food trucks but want a place to sit and eat, especially away from the elements, this is the place for you! On top of those things, it's open til midnight and 1am on Saturdays! So if it's 9:30pm and you wanna grab a bit and/or a drink, you can do that here! There's music playing in the background and tvs all across the bars with sports and news. The place is beautifully decorated. It gives a nice intimate yet casual vibe. You can go for a first or many date nights, a night out with friends, a birthday celebration, working from home, or a solo dolo trip and not feel awkward. They have so many seating arrangements to accommodate all, including outdoor seating. You can bring the kids too. They have a variety of food options from Mexican to Pakistan, chicken to stir-fry, açaí bowls to desserts. They have 2 bars, 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs in a more secluded lounge area. With a Happy Hour every day until 7pm!! The only thing that seemed to be missing were a few sockets or places to charge phones. That would have been great at those hightop tables by the windows. Ive never seen a concept like this but this is the type of environment I expected when living in the Galleria. I love this!

Yelp
Nestled near The Galleria, this dining hall is a relatively inexpensive option to casually dine with friends and family. There is ample parking (free) and easy location of the building. Restaurants are located along the perimeter of the inside, set up like street vendors. The dining area is on the main floor, allowing you to grab a seat and scan the QR code to order from all vendors. You will get a text message once your food is ready for pick up. Access to the open bar is great, with an expansive menu of drink options as well as happy hour weekly. The patty melt and bird haus fries were great. Everything is made to order so the food was hot and fresh. There is an option for everyone. Will definitely visit again.

Yelp
Came here to try this new Food Hall located near the galleria. Love the concept and the ambiance is laid back and inviting. There is a bar in the center of everything where you can have a drink and order from any of the other restaurants by scanning the QR code menus. We opted for the Birria Tacos and flatbread pizza. The beef birria taco was disappointing. At first glance it looks like there is meat at the bottom and cheese at the top. Yet, after biting into it, there is cheese at the top and bottoms and barely enough meat. If you want a grilled cheese taco, then this will be perfect for you. We actually like to taste something other than a moth full of cheese. The flatbread was actually really tasted. I ordered the option with spinach, artichokes, roasted garlic and added basil. That was our best bite. I would come back to try some of the other restaurants, but not the Birria place. This is a great hangout with friends or a large crowd, plenty of restaurants to appeal to everyone's tastes.

Yelp
Remember Club Roxy?! This is what this used to be! It even has a sign to commeriate the well-known Houston hot spot from the past. Throw back. My review is based on the bar. I had a nice time hanging with friends at the bar and walking around. It was my first time here. This is the galleria location. I just requested to change the title of this place to Conservatory Galleria, so it's not confused with the other location on Dennis St. This food hall with 2 bars is right next door to the popular eatery Buger-Chan. Drinks - I started with the French 75, which was fine. Next, I got the One time Roxy, which was good. I enjoyed it. Service- The bartenders were super friendly. They offered my friends drink samples, which they seemed to really enjoy. Great way to intice patrons back to a new business, and Their official grand opening is coming up April 5-7. I appreciated talking a little to the owner Chase, who appeared to be head man in charge. It's good to see the owner actually at the bar interacting with guests. Bartender Andrew, not sure if he was the lead or the bar manager, but he was personable and fun. He shared his vision and ideas of how he planned to make this bar the place to be. The bartenders were cool with letting us stay a while and eat at the bar. Of note, one of the bartenders asked me to open a tab before starting, which is typical. But he said he had to keep the card at the register until I closed out. For me, that meant I had to drink first and close out, then get my card to go and purchase food. That might just be their policy, which is fine, just something for visitors to know.

Yelp
A fun addition to the Galleria area with lots of options for food and drinks. My favorite is Seoulside Wings and the lunch crowd during the weekdays here is pretty quiet honestly. Probably due to people not knowing it's open. The open seating is clean and they provide a water station in the main dining area if you have ordered food from any of the restaurants. They also have a QR code at all the tables that allows you to order food from any of the restaurants inside from a table.

Yelp
Love this place! Literally want to come spend all my coins. I tried phatties, clutch city grill, Seoul side wings, and the Roxy room bar. I haven't had anything I don't like. The staff were all super nice and helpful. Roxy room is a small bar at the top that's 21+ after 5pm. I didn't love the wine, margarita is good. They don't have good, but you can use a QR code to order from anywhere. The conservatory does seem to get a little more lively after 6. I was told that the building actually used be club Roxy, if you're a Houston native.

Yelp
The place looks nice but I like the one in midtown is better. I think the midtown one has more vibes. The place looks big but turn out the inside is not as big. Food wise has different choices than midtown but midtown food seems like higher quality. Overall the place is OK . Food range is consider cheap in galleria area. Came here bcoz of the old Roxy . Bringing back memories. We ate at BLK MKT Birria and it's true that they have $1 taco on Tuesday. You need to order 5 minimum which is great. Food was good too and staffs were great.

Yelp
I went to the Conservatory on its soft opening day and I'm so happy I did! After a walk around to check out all 12 restaurant menus, I chose to start with the Quessabirria from Blk Mkt Birria. So when coming to this food court, most of the restaurants have a self-ordering monitor for you to place your own order and some have a cashier to go through the more complicated/extra ingredient menus. Blk Mkt Birria is super straightforward so easy to order on your own! They send you a text once your order is ready so grab a seat and wait in anticipation! I have to come back because CVCHE looks UH MAZING but unfortunately they were open yet. The Roxy bar is cute and the French 75 was really refreshing. This is a great spot for families and friends who are meeting for a quick dinner or drinks, they're open 11am - 1am so you have plenty of time to get in.

Yelp
Yes, yes and more yes!!! With so many different types of food, everyone can be happy. The space is great, with a full bar, both parents and kids were very happy. All the staff were friendly. It gave us parents a "night out" atmosphere without having to get a sitter. Plus it was right across the street from our hotel.
google avatar

Vanezza S.

Yelp
I actually enjoy the concept, being that I work at that building. The convenience of having 11 "food truck" style food, indoors, all in one spot...dub! Plus, if you don't want to eat, there's 2 bars and the drinks are great! Ben is very attentive, friendly and has a great attitude. Funny to think I used to club here, back in the late 90's. It's still such a vibe. Parking is ample, as there's parking in front of the building, but also a parking garage. Variety of food choices now, from ceviche to birria ramen, from Fruit smoothie to over 12 Tres Leches flavors, plus ice cream. And everything in between. i personally like the bar.

Yelp
When I found out The Conservatory was going to set up shop where The Roxy used to be, I was more than excited. Back in the day, Roxy was the "it" club and the place to be. The Conservatory has come full circle and now to me is one of the better food halls in the city. I loved how they kept the original Roxy sign and named one of the lounge areas after the club. They get all kind of brownie points from me for that. We came early on a Sunday and parking was plentiful out front as well as in an attached garage out back. Coming early gave us the chance to scope the place out before it got crowded. It consists of the main level having all the food vendors. There is a nice variety of places that will please all palates. There is also a lower level that has a great bar as well as a upper level that has another bar that is more intimate and I believe can be used for private events as well. My friends and I decided to come very last minute so we staggered in a few minutes after each other. We sat at at the lower level bar to start. I was not planning on having any but an espresso martini to start a Sunday never hurt anyone. Andrew was our guy to start with and this guy immediately had us sold on this place. He gave us a run down of this new spot and all their future plans. On top of that he made us some excellent drinks. What was supposed to be one drink turned into us trying all their specialty cocktails. Each one just as delicious as the last. They know what they are doing here. Aaron took over and he killed it too. We also had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Chase who is one of the owners of this establishment. Great customer service all around! Our whole purpose of coming here was to satisfy our burger craving and that we did at Clutch City Grille. What's cool about this place is that you can scan a QR code anywhere and place your order. The food vendor of your choice will then notify you to come pick up your order. We opted to walk to the stall and order. I'll give a rundown of the restaurant itself separately, but the food was bomb. Just walking around, every spot looked good and I will definitely be partaking in new things next time around. They have a total of 11 different options to choose from. Overall, I really like this spot. The chill atmosphere coupled with great food and drink options makes it a great foodie destination. On top of all that, the music they had blasting was such a vibe as well. I will definitely be back sooner rather than later!

Yelp
We had a great time at The Conservatory Galleria! We had a group, so we tried three of the stalls--Pita-Ria, Blk Mkt, and Seolside Wings--all of which were great. I'll post details about each stall on their own pages. The space is really pretty, particularly the bar that's in the center. There was plenty of parking when we visited, and it's a fun place to try many different kinds of fun food.
google avatar

Emmy S.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, this place is SO nice and i love the location it's in! But the places i tried were just not it. I tried two stalls. Wokker and Seoulside. I was really disappointed in seoulside because I've heard so many good reviews about them for years now and it really wasn't all that special. Same with wokker, their pad thai was really bland and didn't have much flavor at all. I would def come back here for the bar and to get some work done, they have plenty of seating not too much noise either.
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
Coming back here was very nostalgic! Good amount of seating and nice variety of restaurants to try out! Favorite one was for sure Seoul side for their soy garlic wings! Drinks at the bar were also decently priced (beer for $7). Also liked rolling phatties masala fries. Looks like each restaurant had their own speciality fry, which was cool. Another good spot to try was the tres leches shop. My favorite was deff the coffee / cappuccino tres leches, strong cafe flavor and very moist. They had chill music in the background. Restrooms were semi-clean. Parking - in front of the conservatory or within the plaza

Yelp
Me encanta!
google avatar

Yesi I.

Yelp
Portions are GOOD for the money you pay, i think my order was $20 including the agua fresca. The quesadilla was super fatty, it isn't traditional birria meat, they do have that at this restaurant, they have birria style barbacoa and other meats like chicken and even shrimp I believe. Food was ready pretty fast, I really liked the ambiance at the conservatory as a whole, there was all kinds of groups from families to friends and work gatherings, it's a big place! The agua fresca was too sweet.
google avatar

Alberto C.

Yelp
We tried Rollin Phatties and the Ceviche place at the Conservatory. It was just delicious - At Rollin Phatties the chicken was so flavorful and the garlic sauce that comes with it was just the perfect compliment. The service was also very good and the gentleman serving was very happy to give me a sample to make sure I liked it! Highly recommend this. I will definitely be going back for more. On the other hand, the ceviche and the paella were definitely some of the best I have had in Houston. The ceviche was marinated perfectly, they customized it to the spice level we wanted and were happy to talk us through the items on their menu. Cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
Ahhh all the nostalgic feels here at the old Club Roxy! So cool that they turned this iconic space from my college party days, to fit my life now with a food hall! We've come full circle haha. The ambiance for sure brought back memories because Roxy is still recognizable, but it also gives out of state vibes with the modern/classy food hall concept. I liked that there is a bar upstairs with the Roxy sign still displayed! I wanted to order an Aeperol Spritz, but the bartender said they didn't have Aeperol...even though it's listed on the menu, so I just ordered an Espresso Martini instead. While the Espresso Martini was pretty, I didn't really like it. Prices for drinks are average. For food, it was great to walk around, read all the different menus, and decide what would satisfy those cravings. I chose to try Seoulside Wings, and it was delicious!!! The Soy Garlic Wings were so crispy and probably the best I've ever had, and the Honey Butter Fries were tasty with it too. I highly recommend Seoulside and I love that it's woman owned also! Parking here was easy as it is free and in the strip center lot right out front. There are a lot of tables, and for it not being too big of a food hall, the process of finding a table and retrieving your order when ready was easy. I plan to definitely come back to The Conservatory to try other food vendors here, and as this would be a great hang out spot with friends or for a fun date night in the city!

Syl B.

Yelp
Lots to do at this food hall. There are plenty of options. On Tuesday it was super chill but still a good crown of people, parking was easy to find and free. The ceviche was $22 but amazing and there were plenty of less expensive options.
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
This is for the bar area only. We took our food to sit over at the bar and ordered a beer. The bartender added extra tip to our bill that just showed up on our credit card. We double-checked the receipt. If he did this to us, he's probably doing it to others! So keep and check your receipts.

Yelp
Houston TX - In town for a work meeting at a nearby hotel. Wished I had found this place earlier in my trip due to the varied food options. The Conservatory is a small food hall with a burger joint, pita place, Korean wings, smoothie shop, tres leches dessert location, a really big expansive bar area, a fried chicken joint and maybe a place or two that I'm forgetting. You get the idea. Lots of options for picky work colleagues . There's plenty of seating inside - mostly high top tables. Some are rather large so I could see that in busy times you might need to sit with others. Outside there's picnic tables and on the early Thursday evening we visited VERY LOUD music. Maybe that's your jam and that's cool. I need more quiet so opted to sit inside. Upon entering the Conservatory you have two options for ordering. You can order at the counter or via QR code at your table. Either way you receive a text when your order is ready and you go pick it up. There are staff circulating to clean tables also. Things were kind of quiet when we visited and everything was clean and tidy. I would return when in the area.

Rosalee R.

Yelp
Great service and recommendations from Kaylee at the bar. This spot is so nice with great variety and the upstairs area would be perfect for an event. The happy hour specials are great too!!!

Yelp
Love a food hall so figured we'd give this place a shot. Bartenders were amazing, the space was super trendy and cute. The food...had a couple items from Cvche and they were amazing! Had stir fry from Wokker, it was mediocre at best. Ordered the masala fries from Rollin Phatties...vile, the fries were raw to the point where they were still crunchy, completely uneatable. Finally we ordered the queso birria from BLK Mkt Birria and they were fire!!

Yelp
At a glance, this place looks great, so many options to choose from. i ordered from 5 different spots. Overall. it was meh food. Most of it was pretty bland. It's not very expensive but it felt expensive for unsatisfactory food. There is plenty of tables. But they were sticky. Overall it seemed okay for a food hall. I didnt really eat anything I enjoyed. I cant remember the names of the food stalls that i went to. But the pizza was not crispy but more soggy with the cheese and sauce. The chicken roll up was super dry, stale, didnt seem fresh like reheated from another day and weirdly cold, as well as the fries. The pad thai does not look like pad thai and the sauce was bland. the nachos were ok, weirdly with all the toppings it didnt really taste like anything besides the cheese they smothered on it. The ceviche was the only thing i really liked, it was large chunks of fish but a little too much lime and the hot sauce didnt add any flavor or heat. The korean chicken wings were good but only a like 5 wings over a lot of rice. Their fries are good. Maybe it was just an off day bc I went there on a Monday. My friends went on the weekend and liked what they got. There is plenty of parking in the garage.

Yelp
Great new spot located walking distance from the Galleria! Awesome food and a huge bar! Would recommend Wokker if you're hungry for some delicious fried rice! Glad I found this gem and will definitely be back!
