Chicago’s best bars and breweries for cocktails and beer | Eater Chicago

"Logan Square has no shortage of cool bars, and Consignment Lounge joins the list. It’s a ridiculous collection of mementos from fishing trophies and patches to furniture that would feel at home in a college dorm lounge. But it works if you need a friendly place to have a domestic beer and a shot. Right now, food is handled by the mighty Pierogi Papi on Thursday and Friday." - Ashok Selvam

5 Bars That Are Like Midwestern Basements

"Consignment Lounge is the knickknack paradise of bars that look like someone’s subterranean living room. With all the random stuff available for purchase, it feels like a film set—meticulously displayed commemorative mugs, trucker hats, a light-up duck painting. It’s an excellent spot for an early-in-the-game date, especially if the person is unschooled in Midwestern basement culture. Just make sure they know that no basement in all of America’s heartland is this clean." - nick allen

Raise a Toast to Bartenders With Tequila Cocktails at These Chicago Bars | Eater

"Shopping and sipping go hand-in-hand at Consignment Lounge, where you can drink your favorite cocktails all while perusing “hoardable” estate sale finds. From Tuesday to Sunday,, you may discover a vintage lamp or an old school radio, or fun pins for your collection. Literally everything on the walls and in the lounge is on sale. While you search for hidden treasures, sip a Teremana cocktail, like the hibiscus margarita, which gets its bright floral aroma from hibiscus tea and smooth finish from Teremana Blanco. If you’re wondering: “Do I really need this antique cookie tin with Queen Elizabeth on it?” … take another sip because you probably do." - Ariel Kanter

The Chicago Bar Hit List: Where To Drink Right Now

"You could walk into Consignment Lounge just for drinks, but end up leaving with a commemorative mug from some random person’s wedding or an old light-up painting of ducks. That’s because this cozy bar in Avondale doubles as a resale store. But in case you’re not trying to be featured on Hoarders, the drinks alone are great. They have fantastic draft cocktails like the refreshing Ricardo Yuzu (a play on gin and tonic but with yuzu and yellow chartreuse) as well as classics like an Old Fashioned. And whether you’re at the bar watching WTTW reruns on retro TVs, or hanging with friends in their back room, the relaxed atmosphere is the ideal place to temporarily ignore your unread emails." - john ringor, adrian kane

Consignment Lounge Review - Avondale - Chicago - The Infatuation

"You could walk into Consignment Lounge just for drinks, but end up leaving with a vintage mug or an old landscape painting. That’s because this Avondale bar is also a resale shop. But in case you’re not in the market for some home decorations, the drinks alone are great. They have refreshing draft cocktails like the Ricardo Yuzu (a play on gin and tonic but with yuzu and yellow chartreuse) as well as classics like an Old Fashioned. And whether you’re at the bar watching old WTTW reruns on retro TVs, or hanging in the backroom full of books, the relaxed atmosphere is the ideal place to hang out." - John Ringor

Google
I had a non alcoholic drink and it was amazing. It was very balanced, not incredibly sweet as most non alcoholic drinks are. The atmosphere is really cool and friendly plus, the bartenders were super helpful and friendly.

This is such a cool hangout spot, I didn’t realize almost everything inside is for sale (except for the tables, chairs, and bar ware lol)! A very unique place with a neat list of drinks. It’s a vibe! They have free parking in front too.

I don’t even know where to start. This place rules. Walked in and thought, “huh, what is this?” It’s like a bar and a weird little shop had a baby, and then that baby grew up to be really cool. You can buy basically everything inside, and I did—left with a stone parrot from, I think, Panama?? It felt right. The drinks are really good. I don’t know what all was in mine but it tasted fancy and strong in a good way. They’ve got stuff I’ve never heard of but it all just works. Even the soda water felt classy. It’s that kind of place. The people are awesome. Tall, friendly, funny, chill. Like, you sit down and end up talking to someone and next thing you know it’s been three hours and you’ve somehow spent $90 and also made a new best friend. Or two. The whole place is just cozy and full of random cool stuff—like someone’s basement, but the good kind. Not the creepy kind. If you’re thinking about going—just go. Go now. Give them your money. They deserve it. You’ll probably end up leaving with a weird lamp or a ceramic pig or something and feel great about it. One of the best bars I’ve been to in Chicago. And I don’t say that lightly.

Google
Cool cozy cocktail lounge! My wife and I stopped by last night and fell in love. Great unique cocktails and beers on draft. Super friendly bar tenders and owner. The front of the lounge is fairly modern but the back room is like walking into your grandparents basement. The whole place is full of 30s - 70s Americana and it's all for sale! Check them out and get that warm nostalgic feeling.

Google
What a cozy fun spot! Great drinks, great NA options as well. I love the laid back relaxed feel of the bar and that you can buy some of the items on consignment! So fun, definitely coming back!

Google
I stopped in with some friends on Saturday afternoon. The bartender (white guy with a beard) made everyone I was with so uncomfortable that we won’t be back. He made several really inappropriate jokes, was rude to my guy friends, and creeped out all my girlfriends. I was here once before and it felt like a really safe space for women and queers. This felt like the opposite of that. Disappointed. We won’t be back.

Google
It was fine, the drinks were good and the service was good as well. The atmosphere is appealing but has this really weird artificial feeling to it, almost performative in some sense. Might age better with time

Google
The bar itself? Cute. The ambiance? Ruined by a human-shaped icicle behind the counter. If you enjoy being treated like a mild inconvenience while having a nice night out this is your spot. But then, there's the bartender. Let's call them... The Ice Queen. I asked two questions, and he looked at me like I'd just asked her to solve a complex equation using only interpretive dance. His responses were clipped, his pours were stingy, and his general aura was that of someone deeply offended by my mere presence. If you prefer your bartenders to possess even a sliver of human warmth, steer clear. I'd rather drink warm tap water served by a robot than endure another interaction with The Ice Queen. At least the robot wouldn't judge EVERYTHING.

Yelp
Great spot! It's full of consignment items, thus the name. Cocktails were solid and reasonably priced. There's tons of cozy nooks, making it a great spot to catchup with friends or as a date spot. I'd come back!

Yelp
I absolutely loved the vibe of this place! It's a cute bar in the Logan Square area with all sorts of items just like in a consignment store. Everything has a price tag and you can buy whatever you want! And the drinks were solid too, some great cocktails! They have small booths upfront and an area at the back to lounge and chill. Very cool lighting as well! Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Drinks: for sure, Prairie Dawn is worth getting again if you're a big honey lemon fan; the Hurricane Season was alright but not my favorite. it was definitely a mock tail of the Crowd Pleaser which was good but a little more watered down than I wanted BUT WILL BE COMING AGAIN TO TRY DIFFERENT DRINKS (TLDR: Prairie Dawn is def delicious & strong) Ambiance: well lit, adorably eclectic thrift store bar with the basement bar of your grandparents with all the knick-knacks they've collected from their trip across the states; I loved that they had cowboy bebop playing on all of their televisions Overall vibe: 5/5 will be visiting again being the vibe is so versatile & perfect for enjoying a first date, a hangout with a friend(s especially in the living room couch area) and just relaxing; definitely feel like this place is underrated and under reviewed for the amount of thought and energy put into the interior

Yelp
Consignment Lounge is a hidden gem in Chicago- it's a treasure trove of thrifted vintage trinkets and knick-knacks that add a unique touch to the ambiance. The service at Consignment Lounge was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were creative and fun. Even on a Saturday night, it wasn't crowded, which made it an ideal place for a relaxed and chill night out. Such a fun place to look for treasures and have a drink in a quiet, laid back setting where you can actually hear people!!!

Yelp
FREAKING OBSESSED with this establishment and the model. Came at the recommendation of a local and it did not disappoint. EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE? How great is that? Their slogan is "More things, more joy" and I have to say I really agree. The drinks are also yummy: got the Prairie Dawn and the man behind the bar was so stinking nice. I felt bad it was just him on a busy Saturday afternoon but he did alright! The back room is more a lounge area that has been styled with all these lovely vintage items and some couches in the center. Vintage TVs play old footage from games and TV shows and there is bar seating plus booths and smaller tables up front. I want to move in.

Yelp
Great ambiance and the nicest bar tender I've come in contact with in the longest time. Super vibey music and amazing decorations that are all for sale.

Yelp
Consignment Lounge is a cozy, chic bar for sipping and marveling at thrifty goods. Step inside & it feels like you've entered a friend's home- it's warm, quirky and trendy (in a relatable way). It's especially homey with the current holiday decor! The cocktails are good. The decor is superb- it's clear the owners put in a ton of detail, from the wooden cutout wall pieces to the custom neon sign out front. There are some character quirks that make it really special, too: glass cases of collectibles built into the bar. Miller Highlife in glass bottles. A beer & shot experience called the Elbow Bump, which appears to be a take on the Chicago Handshake. Even a silly wifi password. The place is quaint- I'd guess it seats about 30. It's perfect for a date or catching up with some pals. You can buy most of the items in the bar- just shop it up and add 'em to your bar tab! This is a new favorite spot, for sure :)

Yelp
Funky, unique local bar. Everything in the place ,pretty much is for sale. Great drinks, with a happy hour from 4-6. Food vendors occasionally do pop-ups. Great hibiscus margarita on tap, a believer rope that is starry and a great dirty martini were our drinks. Check them out!

Yelp
Great hole in the wall place to enjoy creative cocktails, good beer, and browse old school consignment pieces. Perfect place to pregame before a dinner.

Yelp
This place is awesome. It feels like you're hanging out at your uncle's house in 1988, except your uncle is cool, lets you drink beer, and doesn't talk at you all the time. Bartender was nice, I just ordered a beer so his job was pretty easy. The back room is where it's at. Very cozy.

Yelp
I hosted a happy hour here and had the most amazing experience. I contacted them a few weeks before and it was very easy to arrange. The staff was so kind, the cocktails were delicious, and the space is so cool! Sipping expertly crafted drinks and shopping for cool vintage hats & do-dads? What more could you want?!

Yelp
I wouldnt call this place cozy per se, but there was something familiar and comfortable about all the stuff on the walls and the lighting/music volume. I found it incredibly inviting. I like the novelty of "everything is for sale" and would like to think they sell stuff off the walls. we got a few rounds of the Yuzu Ricardo draft cocktail. Well balanced and easily enjoyable. Music was neither commanding or detracting to the ambiance which honestly says to me that both music selection and volume control were very calculated. I really appreciate that someone put thought into the idea that this bar is going to incubate an easy/fun place to have drink and conversation. 10/10 stars.

Yelp
Consignment Lounge is a hilarious blend of art gallery, flea market, and upscale cocktail lounge. It's all for sale. The art, the chairs in the conversation put, and the hats in the bookshelves. The drinks are delicious and the happy hour prices are awesome.

Yelp
This place rocks. Incredible atmosphere and friendly staff. You can literally buy anything, such an incredible concept. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
This place makes dranking dreeems come true and all the staff is chill! The owner was cool about us bringing our own vintage jello molds for some jello salad hangs, so you know, its a vibe. Don't sleep on those crafty cocktails and belt buckles Wheeeee Haw Hoo Hootin Toot!

Yelp
Great ambiance and service! I ordered the Ricardo Yuzu, and it was refreshing and yummy. Would definitely come here again.

Yelp
I love the interior. The detail and woodwork was top notch. That's why it gets five stars. The drinks could have had a little more detail for the price. Maybe salt or smoke or something. For $14, I expect over the top. The bartenders weren't even sure how to make them. I will go back. I also wish they had some food. Maybe basic charcuterie or something. I do love the concept. Too many books for sale. I'd suggest more knickknacks

Kathryn B.

Yelp
This cozy bar popped up right after I moved to Logan. It's grandma and grandpas living-room perfection. It's a bar and thrift shop in one! What more can you ask for? The staff and the crowd is friendly. I probably wouldn't have found it if it wasn't a block away from me. Even if you don't live in Logan, this place is worth the trip.
