BBQ joint with acclaimed brisket, ribs, and unique sides
"This West Texas spot went from local hang to destination restaurant seemingly overnight, where Texans and out-of-staters drive out to Marfa just to see what's smoking that weekend. Mark Scott and his wife Kaki opened the joint in 2017 with partners Adam Bork and Katy Rose Elsasser (who makes their icebox cakes and other desserts), and quickly gained acclaim for their creative sides and flavorful meats. The all-beef links and brisket tacos are local favorites, and they try to keep all of their sides vegetarian so everyone can enjoy the menu. Sides vary, and some favorites are sweet potato salad, curried green beans, and blue cornbread." - Kristy Alpert
"I noted that Texas Monthly dug up the earliest newspaper mention of Aaron Franklin in a May 13, 2004 Big Bend Sentinel column by Alex Manley, which described a backyard Cinco de Mayo party in Marfa where Franklin made brisket — a small archival detail that underscores his early reputation before Franklin Barbecue became famous." - Nadia Chaudhury
"An acclaimed barbecue spot that is a finalist for the James Beard Outstanding Restaurant award." - Jess Mayhugh
"A Marfa barbecue restaurant that received a semifinalist nod for Outstanding Restaurant at the James Beard Awards." - Brittany Britto Garley
"A surprising source of very good brisket, unexpectedly competitive with more celebrated barbecue spots." - ByJulia Kramer
