5 Best Food We Had at Life Is Beautiful 2022 | Eater Vegas

"At the Cookout I enjoyed open-fire grilled meals offered as one of the best bargains at the fest — $15 plates by top local chefs — and the standout for me was the China Poblano carnitas tacos plate: three corn-tortilla tacos filled with tender, smoky braised pork, stuffed with cilantro and onions, served with salsas and heavily seasoned chips (a tart, salty pepper blend); dipping the tacos into both the hot tomatillo salsa and the creamy avocado salsa made for an ideal, satisfying lunch while listening to the neighboring Huntridge stage, and it’s hard to beat a Jose Andres original at that price point." - Janna Karel

Georgetown’s Michelin-Rated Reverie Closes Due to a Destructive Fire | Eater DC

"Born in 1989 in Greensboro, North Carolina, Cook Out will open its first Northern Virginia drive-thru location soon at 8502 Centerville Road in Manassas Park; the chain has a cult following for its grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and milkshakes and already operates other Virginia outposts in Fredericksburg and Henrico and one in Salisbury, Maryland." - Tierney Plumb

Objectively good service and a clean spot. Don’t get the pulled pork though. Taste like cardboard. Oh also the fountain soda isn’t out in the wild, you have to ask for refills. And for sauce. But there’s a sink in the dining area so that’s fun and quirky. There will be a line here during lunch, lots of wagies come for cheap eats

Very busy in a Sunday afternoon. I waited in the drive- thru for 15 minutes. I ate the fries and hush puppies in the car, so now pic. The fries were just ok. The hush puppies were very tasty. Double cheeseburger w/ bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion was tasty. Tasted like it was grilled. Next time in Manassas I'll try some other menu items. Be aware the menu is complex. Read it online before you go.

Getting milkshakes from this restaurant was a very enjoyable experience. I got the Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Milkshake, and it tasted good and seemed high-quality. I would certainly recommend this to my friends!

I love this place. ALOT. I love the food the burgers taste just like a certain burger place that starts with a 5. Really good hush puppies and my gosh YOU HAVE GOT TO GET THE WALKING TACO. So simple yet so good. The chicken wrap was alright but made with good quality chicken. Really great bacon too. The BLT is so simple yet so fresh and tasty and still has a bit of that charbroiled flavor to it. Only thing I can say is, I do wish that the cashiers or people taking your order in the drive-through will be a lot more patient with people. I don't think we've ever had a cookout in this area, I personally have never been to this place ever. And my first time there I felt like I was rushed in the drive-through and I felt like the person taking my order was kind of agitated and whenever I asked "like how does this work" he was just like "look at the menu" So after that experience I came home and studied the menu myself, but a lot of other people may not have that type of patience, all he needed to say was "you can either order a box meal and it comes with so and so options, pick whatever you want on your burger or you can order things individually which will be under the boxed meals section" Other experiences have still been a bit rushed. The people at the window are always friendly. I've been there several times so far and as I said the burgers and walking tacos are amazing and the prices of things here are so legit. Just work on being more warm with people especially since this is a new establishment in this area.

2nd EDIT: These people keep saying to call them, but I've tried multiple times and they never pick up on the customer service line they provided. It seems they just want to appear helpful on the review, but not actually make anything right like they say. There was a spanish or asian girl working the drive through at 2:30 AM on 1/15/2026 who gave me a cheese quesadilla instead of chicken quesadilla. It took me 20 minutes to realize and drive back. Instead of saying sorry, she made me show the quesadilla to show that there was no chicken. I told them how inconvenient the whole thing was and the spanish/asian girl still didn't apologize. She just stared at me with a blank look. I asked if they could even say sorry and the white girl who had nothing to do with the messup said she was sorry "if that happened". The other girl just kept staring at me. One of the worst experiences I've had in a long time. Made me very upset and when I was driving away I heard them laugh at me. EDIT: They said to call them at their customer service number in order to talk about my review. I called them twice and they never picked up. I am reposting this so that they get notified.

Google
Do we not read before handing out food? After unloading all my groceries I'm finally able to enjoy my shake, and let's face it they are usually thick so a little melting can't hurt. Oreo peanut butter is what I ordered and it states on the bag, yet the shake I received is chocolate chip cheesecake according to the sticker. It's too far of a drive to head back from where I'm staying tonight. I'm disappointed in myself for not reading labels before heading out. So unfortunately I now paid for trash and another person hopefully doesn't have a peanut butter allergy when they take their first sip.

Google
Place was steady banging all day long with a double line wrapped around the building. Last picture is at 1AM and place was still packed. Burger was delicious. Was concerned when I saw how thin the patty’s were, but it was perfect. Tomato for .10 tho? Hush puppies were yummy, crispy with a good onion taste to them. Onion rings were nothing special. Good but meh. Oreo shake was excellent. Cashier was very friendly in spite of the craziness. Traffic control and the manager were also very friendly. SO excited it’s finally open!! Four star rating tho until the sides increase in quantity. Very sparse. Overall a great experience.

Google
I came last minute with a buddy and they rest assured to us that ordering is fine. Food was as fresh and the hospitality was amazing. There was two young ladies there running the joint and I wish I could give them a shout out if I knew their names. 12/29/25

Yelp
Cook Out never disappoints! Number 1 fan honestly with a an amazing menu. Everything here hits the mark: the burger is A+ and satisfying, and the hush puppies are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Service is always quick and friendly, and the sauces are bountiful. The standout for me, though, is the Orange Pop Milkshake. It's a must tbh. It captures a nostalgic, creamsicle-like flavor that keeps me coming back. Will forever be a Cook Out Stan

Yelp
Really excited about a place that looks like an independent restaurant. I got a regular size burger and it was smaller than the slice of onion on it. It looked more like an onion burger. The fries taste like weeks old grease. All for $7 and some change. Disgusting.

Yelp
I love cook out. Tbh all of the food is pretty mid, but it's cheap and great for late nights. Burgers, tenders, corn dogs- all good. Milkshakes all good. My friends always get the cheer wine.
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
First time trying this and was really impressed! $14.50 for a burger, corn dog, chicken quesadilla, drink, and Cajun chicken sandwich. Chicken really tasted like it came out a backyard grill. Corn dog had the right amount of crunch and breading. Quesadilla had a lot of cheese for a side! Cheer wine had a nice semi sweet cheery flavor. The burger was similar to 5 guys but a little smaller. The pictures don't do it justice. I'll definitely be back, worth a little drive. The drive thru was busy but it moved at a decent pace. It

Yelp
it was cool. My friend is from North Carolina and loves Cook Out out there so we wanted to check out this spot in VA. I think it's a nice spot to go to for cheap fast food especially late at night. I got a chicken sandwich, beef quesadilla and fries with a caramel fudge milkshake for only $10. I think it was some sort of pick one main and two slides platter deal. Everything was good too! My friends got burgers and quesadillas and even a walking taco. My friend also got the banana pudding milkshake and it was so good. It even had crush wafers on the inside. There have a bunch of different milkshake flavors you can mix together! I heard usually Cook Out is drive through but there was a giant seating room with black and white wall tiling and red decor. We got our food really fast like within fast minutes and the service was chill like nice and patient while we decided what we wanted to eat. Overall it was good. I definitely see the hype as a fast food restaurant.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Cook Out for over a decade after a friend told me about their milkshake selection. I am a milkshake fiend. This location did not disappoint about that. I had a wonderful Peanut butter fudge milkshake. However, everything else was nothing short of madness. The bathroom situation is okay. Only one stall in the room so you can lock the door. That door, though, must weigh 10 pounds. There's no reason for someone to have to throw their entire weight against a door to get it to open. The decor is bizarre. What part of industrial metal tables and silver, red, black walls says, "welcome to my backyard. Have a cheeseburger"? There's a tiny counter for placing orders, and the youngster taking orders was either new or stupid. He just couldn't remember to push the chicken tender button so Jeremy could order some. This happened TWICE because after being disappointed by the size of the patties in his first sandwich, Jeremy went back to get a second burger. And to try for the chicken tenders again. He still had to practically yell, "dude!! Chicken tenders!!" At the kid before he wandered off behind the scenes. When Jeremy asked if he could have two of the bigger patties (like the one that came on my burger), the kid had to call for his manager. They conversed briefly in Spanish before the substitution was allowed. I got the Steak Burger, which came with tomato, lettuce, an entire slab of grilled onion, A1 and mayo. I thought the burger would be moist, considering the two sauces, but I was wrong. Man, that sandwich was dry. The onions were the only thing to give it flavor. I got onion rings and hush puppies as my sides. Both would have benefitted from some salt, as they were fairly tasteless. Crunchy, yes. Delicious, no. Jeremy got some burger with cheese sauce the second time around, and was finally satisfied. The quesadilla side is laughable. I don't understand why that's even on the menu. When's the last time you went to a backyard barbecue and there were quesadillas on the grill? It was a decent amount of food for the price, but none of it was anything I'd crave or want to revisit... except for the shake. I'm sitting here wondering what the banana peanut butter one tastes like... maybe just avoid this location.

Yelp
Cook Out is a privately-owned restaurant that started out in NC, but there are locations in TN, SC, GA, VA, WV, and KY. This particular Cook Out has been opened for just a few months, and their menu is just like any other Cook Outs, offering items such as char-grilled burgers/chicken breast/hot dogs, chopped pork BBQ, spicy chicken breast fillet, chicken strips, sides, floats, and a variety of milkshakes. We came here for a later lunch, and we ordered: +a Big Double Burger - with no buns +a Jr. TRAY - opting for a small burger, a side of fries and white cheddar cheese bites, and a Cheerwine The buns on the burger were dried out, and the patties themselves were pretty small; having a double versus a single didn't really make much of a difference. The fries could have been freshly made, as they were cold. The curds were good, but could have been more cheesy and melty inside. Condiments are gratis. Service is pretty friendly, and there's ample seating inside; there's no self-serve for drinks here, so you'll have to go up to the counter to get refills. Plenty of parking in their private lot; they also have a drive-thru. +Cheerwine soda +friendly service +drive-thru available +parking available in lot

Yelp
Terrible place DO NOT EAT THIS CRAP. You will be sick the rest of the day like I was. I've never been here and wanted to give them a try. Big mistake, did not know what this shit was in the box, all employees are probably just outside the legal employment age. And the food was nasty tasting ( coleslaw had a formaldehyde aftertaste) and nothing even close to the menu pictures. And yes, I do know restaurant menu pictures are not true depictions of what you actually get. I threw most of it away and up.

Yelp
Cheerwine?!? Count me in! While in the military I been to a few cookouts in the south. I had no idea there was one in Virginia until recently. I was already in manassas for something else and was hungry and low and behold cookout was nearby. If you've never been give it a go. It's literally bbq cookout food. Burgers are better than 5 guys to me they have walking tacos and of course my favorite ... cheerwine!

Yelp
So I heard so much hype about the cook out that I drove 30 minutes out to try this fast food place. Service is quick, you can sit in or drive thru and we just drove through. I feel like I can't fairly review this place because I didn't get much- just a shake for under $5 and cheddar cheese bites. It came out to about $8 so the real deal here is getting their Cook Out combo where you can sub a drink for a shake for $1, and it would come with a whole entree (burger) side (like cheese curds or quesadilla) and a drink for around $9-10. There are so many options for shakes and I want to try more, but I heard their banana shakes use fresh bananas so I went for the PB banana. It tasted good, just really hard to suck up the straw and nothing spectacular. I heard their cheesecake shake might be better because they use real cheesecake so maybe I can try that next time. A lot of the peanut butter ends up sitting at the bottom so it's not properly mixed in, but they sure do use a boatload of PB. Cheese curds were smaller than I expected, pretty small in size and in quantity. But they taste like cheese curds, no complaint there

Yelp
Got my soggy burger ridiculously fast, totally wrong. They tried a second time and it was wrong again and a total mess, fell apart. Place is miserable, not like North Carolina. Never go here!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was warm and I asked for hot fries! Corndog was just warm. Hush puppies ok. Okra was the best part of this non food event. The smell of grilled meat seemed promising until the reality of the food arrived. Looked like grilled meat from frozen patties. Service and ambience is generically missing. The dystopian black, gray white gave me time to ponder my choices. They got my coke right. I have no plans of driving over here for this ever again. A lot of hush puppies but they had no vinegar. More puppies than cold fries. I tried but...pass. The counter needs to be organized better for orders and pickups.

Yelp
I was looking forward to a Cook-Out experience on a cold November day; let 's just say I was extremely disappointed. I will start with the one good thing I experienced was the corn day, it was delicious. Now the rest, they were out of Cheerwine, no soda, no float...nothing. The hamburger was terrible no flavor, I can cook a better burger that is frozen with ice crystals, than the one I was served. The chili was inedible, it tasted like burned, overcooked canned chili from a discount store. Restaurant was clean, service was ok, prices were low; but that may be why food quality was bad. Will not return and do not recommend.

Yelp
Good stuff. B wanted to try this place out and so here we are. Plenty of parking is available. There is a Drive-Thru as well. Upon entering, we were welcomed by the delicious smell of charcoal flamed burgers. Yum! Plenty of indoor seating is available. Restrooms are clean enough. Took us some time to go through their menu, it is quite extensive. The cashier was incredibly friendly, helpful, and patient. In no time, our box of goodies was ready. The flavors were all there, nothing was overly salty or greasy. B's cheeseburger was well prepared. His onion rings and chicken nuggets were good too. My cheeseburger was quite pink in the middle. Not all that appetizing. The corn dog and fries were on point. We are big fans of their milkshakes. They were creamy and not overly sweet. Would definitely come back, just for that! I'm glad we got a chance to try it out.

Yelp
I moved out of Manassas right when this Cookout opened for business, so I didn't have a chance to try it. I lived in Nashville for 2 years and gave it a shot there. Really really enjoyed it. Just moved back to Northern Virginia a few months ago and gave it a try today. Once again was not disappointed and will definitely be coming back. The landscaping was beautiful, as the building was completely surrounded by blooming roses. I ordered the standard hamburger and hot dog combo, and I enjoyed both. I got the cheese bites as a side, and I really liked them, too. The guy who took my order in the drive-thru was the same guy who took my credit card, and he was super friendly, As we know that makes a huge difference. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back again soon!
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
The last two times I've stop here the same guy taking the order (Elvis) was the name on the receipt. He is very polite, patient and helpful. Working in fast food industry isn't easy but he really enjoys it and it showed. May God bless this young man in all he does. The good and prices are great! Food is always hot and delicious. The drive through is what I use and it's great except the hole near the pickup window be careful when you pull up to get your food.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
I ordered Cook Out via drive-through recently. I think I went during off-peak hours because there wasn't a line when I arrived. I ordered quarter lb burgers and milkshakes to go and was surprised at how cheap and fast my order was prepared from the time I ordered until I pulled up at the payment window. I wasn't expecting much for fast food, but the food we had was worse than what I expected. The burger looked very sloppy, and the milkshake was too icy. The service was okay - I could barely hear the person taking the order because the speaker system wasn't great, and the person that gave me my order was in a hurry to get rid of me.
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
Eating lunch at Cook Out. Hubby and I got a ton of food for under $20 including a gigantic iced tea. I'm not saying you should make a regular diet of this food but bang for the buck, it is a VERY reasonably priced fast food joint. They should really add a salad to their choices so just 4 stars. Not sure why this place isn't packed!
google avatar

Cece D.

Yelp
always coming by since me and my friends go to school nearby. love how it opens late which is perfect for college students who just need to grub after a long day of studying. i always double up on my the onion rings just because i think cookout makes the best :)) i tried chocolate and banana shake and it was TOO good. usually i don't get the shakes bc i never finish them... but this time i inhaled it. i also usually get the chicken quesadilla but i was not disappointed with the cheddar style burger. no complaints about service since every time i go it's quick and easy. very nice staff. they there's plenty of seating and people go through drive through more than dine in. which explains limited parking. it's right across sheetz too if you need to pump gas or anything.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
I was expecting the "best deal in town," but for $11 for a tray because I requested the hotdogs be the cookout style hotdogs and with 4 onion rings, and a really sad looking "bacon wrap" which was a tortilla with a strip of iceberg lettuce and bacon I was very much disappointed. I will say their sauces are pretty good. The ice tea was exceptionally sweet as well. I was told that I should have ordered their burgers, so I will be back to give it another try. But for now, the hype is just that - hype.
google avatar

Najae C.

Yelp
I mean what's not to love about cookout?!! Every time we're near an area that has a cookout, we are going and getting an extra tray for later lol. The staff were really nice at this location and the dining area was spacious and clean. They had an employee cleaning the tables after people were done eating which was nice! My boyfriend and I ordered 2 trays each (remember the extra one is for later lol) and our food was out quick, fresh, and hot! I didn't get any pictures because we were thinking about our food all day and started eating as soon as we opened the tray lol. I will always recommend Cookout! If you love burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries/hush puppies, chili, and shakes, etc. then stop what you're doing and go place your order NOW lol! The food is delicious and reasonably priced! Definitely a 10/10!
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Nothing insane, but it's the late night craving fulfiller. It's really just a nostalgic experience for me from undergrad lol. I feel like there's constantly a line, even in broad daylight (which is beyond me) - but for the most part, they work very quickly! Haven't been inside, but given it's new it looks very clean and well-kept.

Yelp
During a road trip down south, some years back, I made a stop to fill up. The aroma of a fresh charcoal flamed burgers lingered in the air. That's when I got hip to Cookout...a southern fast food joint. Now it's one in N. VA. LET'S GO!! . Where I am: @cookout . Location Reviewed: 8502 Centerville Rd., Manassas Park Virginia . Menu Includes: Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Chicken Strips, Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs, Quesadillas, Chicken Wraps, Fries, Onion Tings, Hush Puppies, Nuggets, Beverages, Shakes, & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Banana Fudge Shake ($4). DELICIOUS. Thick, with chunks of REAL banana in it...tasty!! Their Chicken Quesadilla (with cheese, & chicken $2). PASS. Edible, & inexpensive, but dry & flavorless. Their Corn Dog (with mustard $2). DECENT. A good menu item for the kids. Their Out West Style Burger (with bbq sauce, cheese, bacon, mayo, pickles, & onions $4). DELICIOUS. Small, but flame grilled, & tender. Their Char-Grilled BBQ Chicken Sandwich (with bbq sauce, pickles, & mayo $5). DECENT. Again small, but flame grilled, & lathered in bbq sauce. Their Big Double Tray (a Big Double Burger with bacon, a pickle, cheese, lto, mayo, & mustard, Fries, Cheesy Bites, & a Cheerwine soda $7.99). A GREAT deal for a fast food place!! The Burger-DELICIOUS...tasty. The Fries-PASS...not crisp, & flavorless. The Cheesy Bites-DECENT...little mozzarella bites...good. The Cheerwine-DELICIOUS...they have good crushed ice. . Customer Service: On Point . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Plentiful . Recommendations: Try their burgers & custom shakes. Inexpensive. 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Yelp
After hearing rave reviews online, my husband and I decided to check out Cook Out while we were nearby. This visit was our first time eating at a Cook Out. The drive through was packed on Saturday at 5pm. There were plenty of staff inside and it was quick and easy to order and get our food. We both ordered the tray combo, between us we ordered the following sides: cheese curds, hush puppies, and walking taco. The cheese curds and hush puppies were bomb! I also tried a cheerwine float. The "ice cream" tasted off to me, it wasn't very creamy and I don't think I would order it again. In all, we both liked it but wished there was more food in the combo. Everything was good but it wouldn't be worth going out of our way to eat there again.
google avatar

Farhat K.

Yelp
Best bang for your buck, burger deal in the area. If you get the tray, get the double burger (add tomato, lettuce, grilled onion, Mayo, and ketchup) and for the two sides, get fries and a chicken wrap. For the drink, choose a milkshake. Enjoy the food and thank me later. I love the burger cause it doesn't taste overly greasy, is cooked fresh, and you can customize it. The sides are great portions too (fries and onion rings taste great). I've had the corn dog before and liked it too. Just be wary that if you're doing drive thru, it's gonna be a minimum of 15-20 min wait. But if you park and go inside, it's super fast. But parking might be tough since it's so popular right now. Anyways, I highly recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Tried Cook Out for the first time. Service was very quick. Food was very plentiful. I tried a junior hamburger with fries, hush puppies and coke. Hamburger was good but not great - not a lot of flavor. Fries were hot but didn't have any seasoning. Hush puppies were ok. Inside was clean with an industrial look. Overall, great place if you are looking for large quantities of food in a clean environment.

Lauren B.

Yelp
The food is just like cookout food, so definitely take what you will as it is a fast food chain. However, the interior is huge and great for socializing with friends, and the employees are friendly, with the orders coming out quickly. Definitely a good quick late night hangout spot since it is open!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Never had a good experience with the staff here. Waited at the drive through window and watched as employees talked and flirted inappropriately. Was asked to pull forward to wait, when given food was missing 2 ORDERS. Had to go inside to get the missing food, with receipts in hand, I was treated rudely by the same employees. It's unfortunate to have such rude and unprofessional employees representing the first and only cookout in this area. Chicken nuggets were good.

Yelp
I went to cookout with my husband over the weekend. The restaurant had a good number of people in it. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. I ordered a burger with a corn dog and coleslaw. The burger did taste like it was right off a grill. The coleslaw tasted like a lighter version of Popeyes coleslaw, more vinegary and sweet. My husband had a double burger with hush puppies and a corn dog. He enjoyed his food and also thought the burger tasted like one right off a backyard grill. He also has a peach milkshake, which he also enjoyed. Overall, definitely good food for the price. We definitely will stop back by when we are in Manassas looking for a quick bite to eat.

Andrew M.

Yelp
Not bad. The place is clean and the person taking our order, being trained, wasn't bad. Food pretty good for the price. I guess we're this takes a hit is that, even though it's a cookout, it doesn't feel like a cookout. If you've been to a cookout in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, or Fredricksburg you get that cookout vibe, this one's just missing it. If you've never been, go it's awesome. But if you're looking for that cookout feeling and nostalgia of going with your friends at 2am after a long night out, this place won't give it to you.

Bruce S.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I love Cook Out! Let me rephrase that.... I love the Cook Out in Fredericksburg! This Cook Out on Centreville Road in Manassas does not compare. I've never written a 1 star review for anything, but I'm so irritated after repeated disappointing visits here that I feel the need to warn folks. I don't have a problem with the taste of the food and I can live with the young employees who across the board have been in no way personable, but I can't excuse the consistent pattern of getting the orders wrong and skimping on the portions. First complaint: I was excited to visit after this location opened, because of my love for Cook Out and Fredericksburg being such a long drive. But after three visits in a row of not getting tomato on my burger, when I ordered it with tomato, it seemed to me an intentional omission (to cut costs?), so I called corporate to complain. They offered me a free meal (which I refused) and said they'd talk to the manager. Yesterday I ordered another burger with everything (including tomato), and everything was on it ... except tomato. Honest mistake? You be the judge. Second complaint: What's worse is the fact that the small styrofoam side item cups, in my experience, have been received only half full or at most 3/4 of the way full. At the Fredericksburg location, these sides would be full to the brim, every time--almost overflowing with the top on. Not the case here. (See photos, attached.) Again, I can only imagine this is intentional to cut costs, just like the sodas filled with too much ice, and no opportunity to self-refill your cup unlike the Fredericksburg location. I don't know if you can get a free refill if you ask since I've never done it, but it's a nice convenience not to have to ask. All-in-all I can't help myself from visiting from time to time because it's close and I enjoy the food, but I kick myself every time due to one disappointment or another. I only went yesterday because my son wanted to go. I keep hoping the problems are just poor management and at some point it will change, but so far it hasn't.

Yelp
Was definitely looking forward to a bacon cheeseburger last night! My burger wasn't prepared correctly. For some reason it was covered in cheese and only onions...not sure how they forgot my lettuce, tomato, pickles and little mayo. They did fix it when my husband returned in for my correct burger but it seemed as though they also forgot the seasonings for my burger lol. My fries were old fries as well and the hush puppies. Maybe it was just a bad night... The restaurant seemed pretty new...very clean...fully staffed...

Yelp
2 months ago 1st time visit. Still busy since recently opened. Drive thru was wrapped around store and inside was pretty full as well. Seems they have a pretty efficient ordering process tho as the line moved quick inside. Ordered a Old West burger and onion rings. Everything was fresh and hot. The burger def tasted like it was from a cookout.. i was pleasantly surprised. The onion rings were very flavorful and Really good.

Yelp
My husband has been working through the menu and normally gets the bid double tray. Here's his review: 1. Big double: it's like a burger you would have at a backyard cookout. It's delicious & nutritious (but not that nutritious). It has a nice smoky charred flavor. 2. ranch chicken wrap tastes "real good". It's got a nice firm crunch and ranch flavoring isn't over powering. 3. bacon wrap left something to be desired. 4. walkin taco is like a frito pie. 5. Fries are squishy and definitely not crispy. Probably could use more salt. 6. Oreo peanut butter shake is as if you dipped a Oreo into the fresh PB jar. I always get the grilled chicken with a lettuce wrap, which I guess is a crazy ask for cookout. They always have trouble with how to put in the order. But the chicken is always moist & flavorful. The grilled onions are on point. The service & turn around time to receive your order is always quick, less then 5min.

Yelp
Cookout never disappoints. I haven't been to too many where you can actually go inside and eat, so this was a nice surprise. They had a sink tucked away in the seating area, which was nice, so you can wash your hands without having to go all the way to the restrooms. Me and my sister both ordered the cookout tray which is a great deal. And they came in these cute takeout boxes which I haven't seen before. I wanna say in my area of NC they don't come in these boxes. Either way, the food was fast and hot.

Yelp
Food is disgraceful. Sandwich/burger I got I took 2 bites and threw the rest away. Just no.

Yelp
The food is what it says! Lol, service is pretty fast with little to no delays. I wish there was a location closer to my house. However, I have to settle for the 45-1hour drive. I will say this location is always clean and packed with customers. How can you not want to buy a tray of random items and top it off with a milkshake? The prices are reasonable for the food and you will be left with a full belly. I've been to this location 6x and every time they have delivered hot food and good service. The 4 stars is only because they sometimes to put all the food in the bag due to fast service.

Yelp
Food was honestly a disappointment. Had bought a tray with two sides (onion rings and chicken nuggets) and when I opened the box there was literally only 3 nuggets. The burger wasn't great either and looked pretty bad. Overall wanted to try it and even got the shakes but it's mediocre. For the price and tray deals I guess that's why it's so popular but I think it's just not to my liking.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out this restaurant, but they always have a long line. I finally checked them out on a Monday night, there was no long line. There's a lot to pick from and the menu can be a bit confusing with all the options to choose from. Thankfully they had an employee explaining the menu and it helped me pick what I wanted. I got a burger, hush puppies, cheddar bites and a cheer wine drink. The food was good, I enjoyed the sides options. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area to eat here.

Yelp
3.25 stars. Hmmm. Food: Ok. I liked the burger, which was small, but it was enough. Four stars. The fries seemed fresh, but weren't crispy. The onion rings were xtra crispy. I couldn't tell if either were house made or not. Three stars. They proudly advertise CheerWine, but don't have it in diet. Zero stars. Prices: Ok. Combos are $7.99, with an up charge for cheese. Adding a drink, a combo still comes in under $10.00. IMO. 3.5 stars. Ambience: Sparse. Exposed ceiling makes for a uncomfortably loud atmosphere, even when few people are in the building. I took my food to go. Parking/drive thru: Lord of the Flies here. It seems to be a shared parking lot with the business next door, so parking is iffy, and the cars in the drive they are aggressive. Zero stars. I'd return here for a burger, but I might park across the street at Sheetz next time.

Yelp
We lived in NC for 5 years, and were spoiled with a Cook Out not far from the house. Loved that place! Food always tasty, always hot, and portions always plentiful. This ain't that Cook Out. We've been a few times since it opened, but won't go again. Among other mishaps: - No burger on the burger (just a bun) - jalapeños on a burger where none were requested - wrong milkshake - pitiful portions (see pic of the teeny tiny burger) Terrible. So disappointing.

Yelp

Yelp
Many years ago I was driving somewhere in an area unfamiliar to me. Not sure where I was going on that trip, nor anything about the trip. But I do remember seeing a Cook Out and thinking that has to be the most generic looking fast food chain I've ever seen. I pretty much dismissed them then and there. Sometime after I began to hear small things about Cook Out here and there. And then I started meeting adamant fans. They were certain that Cook Out was more then generic. So after finally trying it, what do I think? I'm wrong. Sure the logo gives off a simple vibe but simple is always good. The burger I had here was one of the finest I've had from a fast-food place. This burger is simple like Five Guys. Just like them Cook Out's burger makes you think you could make it at home. But every-time you try, you don't. There is a smokiness from the charcoal that is captivating in its simplicity. The burger patty was thick and juicy. I was surprised by how good it was. The bacon deserves some recognition as well. The bun was a bit odd though. It seemed to not be able to handle the greatness it held within. A spicy chicken sandwich was comparable to Wendy's. Which is admirable considering Cook Out's is way cheaper. The Cajun fries were nice as well. No fresh cut, but the spice made up for it. Overall sometimes you shouldn't trust your first impressions. Especially when it comes to restaurants. The ones that look different are usually the ones to try.

Yelp
Fantastic the food is amazing for an affordable price. I tried a little bit of everything the Cajun chicken sandwich was very flavorful, the walking taco was loaded Doritos with sour cream lettuce and beef which was delicious. Their burgers and fries are a good staple but I am absolutely obsessed with the variety they have. Can't help but want to try everything

Yelp
dang I've been counting down the days till this place would open. and when it did, I waited a bit so it wouldn't be too busy for $7.99 you get a tray that comes with one entree, one large drink or +$1.49 for a milkshake and one side. it sounds like a lot of food, but it was actually the perfect amount. they only give you like less than 10 pieces of fries or 3 pieces of onion rings, but the entree is pretty filling. staff is friendly. milkshakes are delicious! there are so many choices you can make here. truly a great place to get cheap food!

Sined Y.

Yelp
Been here three times now and have had a great experience each time! Food is delicious, burgers are great, and you can add as many toppings as you'd like. Milkshakes are super good too, and they've got such a great variety! Haven't tried as many of the sides, I've gotten double fries and hush puppies once. Staff is super friendly and the service is quick. And also, such a good deal! Definitely recommend.
