The 38 Best Restaurants in Baltimore | Eater DC

"The Bolton Hill neighborhood is truly stunning, with its soaring brownstones, grass-filled medians, and bespoke gardens. So it’s fitting that a cornerstone restaurant like Cookhouse be just as beautiful. Natural light splashes onto a long marble bar, exposed brick, and rich blue velvet banquets, where there is truly no bad seat in the house. Start off with a tamarind and lime infused daiquiri. Snack on apps like a Caesar steak tartar with fried capers or crispy honey-gochujang wings. Other standouts include crispy pork knuckle with beer gravy, vegetarian curry stew, and a truly incredible wagyu brisket-chuck burger with creamy mature English cheddar, smoked tomato-bacon jam, and crispy onions (only available on Thursdays)." - Jess Mayhugh

Came here for a friends birthday, loved it so much I brought my wife a week later. Everything here is on point. Food is high quality and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is quaint and cozy. Service is super welcoming and accommodating. Will definitely be coming back when the menu changes.

Nice/quaint restaurant in Baltimore with amazing food, attentive staff, and awesome bartenders. No reservations restaurant but worth arriving on time. Menu constantly changes and not very extensive but you can tell each dish was made with attention to detail and presentation of food (and drinks!) that taste great. Chef's background (Spain, Venezuela and England) shows up with unique twist of flavors in the food for an enjoyable experience.

These bartenders are good .. really good cocktails, and most of the food options we tried were right up there too. Steak Frites in particular was excellent. Busy evening, service was a bit slow, the only hiccup.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would definitely come back! The food was absolutely delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were amazing, they answered all our questions and gave us suggestions on drinks for what they thought we would like. It was great service.

Gabe and Bret are cocktail craftsmen. Both are true artisans of the craft. Incredible bourbon selection to pick from and both gentlemen were friendly and knowledgeable. The Food?!🤤 I had the Jidori Egg caviar ( and CLEARLY) I have been getting the wrong type of eggs. It was soft, creamy and set atop a slice of brioche toast, that tasted like it was pan seared in duck fat. The flavors merged beautifully and it was perfection in each bite. Very decadent. I also had their play on Crème Brûlée for dessert. Bar service was exceptional and engaging. Will definitely be back. 10 outta 10, top tier.

One of my absolute favorite places for food and drinks in Baltimore. A true gem. I especially love the concept of the rotating menu. It makes visiting so much more exciting, knowing that you get to experience a new dish each time. The bartender, Gabe, is the best in the city! The atmosphere is also very luxe. Perfect for date nights and special occasions.

A bit regretting coming to celebrate my husbands birthday because even after mentioning it, it wasn’t acknowledged at all. Cocktails are very balanced , black manhattan and espresso martini were both delicious and beautiful. Scallops were ok but didn’t give elote flavor profile and the potatoes served with were ice cold like straight out of the fridge which was not expected, scallops were slightly overcooked. Rigatoni was quite tasty. Service was ok, we arrived right at 6 so there was a line but we were all promptly greeted within minutes of seating. But it was very “hello, sparkling or still, take your order, get you drinks, dessert, check” so pleasantries or personality. No mid meal check ins to see how we enjoyed the meal. No management was present. Later in the evening the two tables sat on either side of us went quite a while without getting greeted, the woman had to ask for service and was sat at a table not fully set. This didn’t live up to the hype or expectation, but it was enjoyable. Not noteworthy at all for a $250+ meal for a party of 2. They either need to step up their quality of service and consistency of dishes or lower the menu price point. I gave 4stars in hopes it was maybe an off night but I won’t be back. Too many great eats in the city. Would’ve been better off just having a cocktail at the bar and going elsewhere for our celebration. Also to add: the signage and website is off- they in fact were open on Tuesday and the steak night is $32 not $29 as the website states. A non issue for us but worth mentioning

Another amazing meal at Cookhouse. Beautiful space that feels comfortable but elevated. Thoughtful cocktails. The food is incredible. So well balanced. The execution is always spot on with interesting flavors. I’ve tried a variety of dishes and I am never disappointed.

Yelp
Come for one of the best burgers in Baltimore (only served on Thursdays) This review is long overdue. We stopped by on Halloween and grabbed a table on the patio, which was perfect for people-watching as trick-or-treaters strolled by. Our waitress even handed out candy! We started with the Sicilian Arancini, which was light and crispy. For entrees we ordered two burgers. The fall menu offered a juicy and decadent wagyu and oxtail burger--two smashed wagyu patties with American cheese, oxtail marmalade with a crunchy and bright pickled cabbage that helped balanced richness of the wagyu. My only complaint? The bottom bun quickly got soggy. Burgers are served with thin fries like the ones at fast food chains, and I appreciated the simplicity here given they came with the most divine garlic aioli. For dessert, the mixed berry and lemon sorbet (one scoop of each) were refreshing and a great way to wrap things up. Cookhouse is known for its beverage program, but we kept things simple this night with a glass of the house red and an old fashioned--both solid.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with a group of 4, it was very good but had too many issues for the price point. Cookhouse opens at 6pm, there was a small line outside but we got in right away. It is a VERY small restaurant, suggest not going in groups larger than 4, and really 2 is the best size. There are maybe 12 tables and about 6 bar seats. The cocktail menu is creative and had a lot options. We each got something different, and while the cocktails were great, only 3 of 4 were brought out. The waitress then came back multiple times to refill waters, bring us appetizers, and check on us, before we had to ask for our friend's drink for the second time. It's an "easy mistake" but for the price point of this restaurant, I don't have much tolerance. That said - All of the cocktails were delicious! I got the "You Cheeky Devil" which was super spicy and delish. I love the little fruity strawberry balls in it! For appetizers our friends got the winter salad and lil wings. The wings were actually so savory and delicious with honey gochujang sauce AND peanut sauce, loved those. The salad was ok, but a lot of bitter vegetables. For entrees, I got the lobster rigatoni. I loved the large chunks of lobster and the pasta was great. However... they didn't bring out fresh Parmesan. This is a $40 bowl of pasta, it's just not acceptable. I even paused to wait a bit but the waitress never returned so I just ate it. It was really good but that's such an easy and obvious thing to do, I was surprised. The star of the show was definitely my husbands shepherds pie. The flavors were delicious - with a savory gravy and a beautiful presentation. Everyone tried a bite and loved it. Lastly, this is a tiny restaurant with no waiting area. It's been open over a year. They can't figure out how to take reservations? This policy makes it so anyone with a disability basically wouldn't be able to come unless they came when it opened. If you need any sort of accommodation, forget about it. Pretty disappointing and totally unnecessary. Overall, this was a beautiful restaurant with a great cocktail menu and a small but mighty supper menu. I believe it's good, but at its price point, it has some unacceptable issues. However, with a few small improvements, it could be great. I hope they're able to take some of this experience into account as I'd love to come back!

Yelp
I stopped in on a Wednesday night for dinner with a friend and we had an amazing meal! There was free street parking on the streets surrounding the restaurant, we were both able to park easily. They don't take reservations so we put in our name and tried to get a drink from the bar while we waited. The only odd occurrence of the night was that they wouldn't serve us cocktails while waiting, but would serve us an entire bottle of wine (which, coincidentally was 50% off due to a special on Wednesdays!) That was strange but we ended up being able to sit at the bar for dinner so it didn't end up being a problem. I had several appetizers for dinner and my friend got the scallops. We loved every item! The restaurant itself has a very cozy and intimate feel and we were so wrapped up in enjoying the vibes that I forgot to take photos of our food -- which should speak volumes! I'm looking to going back to try more from the menu! It is a weekly updated menu based on what they can source, which means there will always be something new to try!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal and experience at CookHouse! I had been wanting to try this place forever and was able to get spot a little later in the evening. The space itself is small but so cute and really well decorated! It feels homey and upscale. I came here with a friend and we split the winter salad which was really delicious and then I got the lobster rigatoni which was great! All the food was really really good and filling. The prices are a little high... but I did have leftovers and I was very satisfied! I enjoyed the cocktails I got as well- the Caesar salad martini was really interesting. I have definitely never had anything like it before. It honestly does take like a Caesar salad- And that's not a bad thing! Haha. Service was great, no complaints there. I would definitely return for a date night or special occasion, or even just a small bite and drinks at the bar.

Yelp
I had a fabulous evening at CookHouse. This is the ideal location for a dinner filled with ambiance and an articulate menu. Special nod to Amber who provided excellent service. We loved the Ox Tongue and their espresso martinis are certainly worth a try. Get here by 630 or with patience in mind because they do not offer reservations. Moderate noise level, yet you were still able to hear who you're chatting with. This is a small space, but I assure you that a visit is worthwhile.

Yelp
If you are looking for a hidden gem in Baltimore, then cookhouse is it. I have been here multiple times and every time the food hits! This is perfect for date night, steak and wine Wednesdays or if you just want some speciality cocktails. The staff is amazing and attentive. One thing I love about the drink menu is that it is crafted by a drink specialist. What I have had: Burger - 10/10 Sorbet - 10/10 (berry was the best) Steak frites - 9/10 Artichoke - 8/10 - it's a texture thing for me

Yelp
Loved my experience here! I stopped by for drinks with a handful of friends on a weeknight, there was a wait for tables but the bar was open so we were seated quickly. The bartenders so attentive and friendly, and they were able to accommodate a friend with a custom non-alcoholic drink. We only ordered fries to snack on with our drinks, which had the perfect texture. The ambiance was so cozy, I'll definitely be back to try their food menu!

Yelp
I've been putting off writing this review because I really don't think anything I say will do my experience justice. CookHouse is small and cozy, but the food and drinks going on inside pack a major punch. I was absolutely blown away - probably the best meal I have ever had. Everything was so amazing. The cocktail I had was unique, tasty, and stunning! It was so pretty it felt wrong to drink it, but I'm glad I did. It was sort of creamy, earthy, and bright all at the same time. I'm not sure if that makes it sound good, but trust me, it was delicious! I also tried a red wine and was surprised at how much I liked it. I don't usually go for reds, but it was probably the best I've ever tried. It was also a little bubbly, which I've never seen before! I can't remember what the salad we shared was called but it was so well-balanced. A bite with all the elements (cherries, nuts, cheese, and the greens, if I remember correctly) was perfection. The roast chicken might seem like a basic choice, but it's the best roast chicken I've ever had. I was told it tastes like "what chicken should taste like," and it is absolutely true. I've never had chicken like it. And the potatoes! Also so yummy. We finished off the meal with a vanilla gelato, which was so creamy, and like everything else, absolutely delicious. I definitely ate more of it than I should have considering how full I felt, but that's how good it was. CookHouse is a must-try in Baltimore. Go!

Yelp
Food: showstopper. With an ever changing menu, it's always a surprise, and always delivers. Cocktails: unique. Some are stronger than others. All are beautifully presented. Service: attentive and fast. Ambiance: interior is super cute and moody; it is TINY. Small patio open in the summer. No reservations and this place is popular - get there as soon as they open for your best chance of getting in.

Yelp
Had an amazing dinner at CookHouse during my visit to Baltimore. Loved everything we had, but my favorite was the duck rigatoni! It was so delicious. The servers were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
What a GEM. This tucked away cozy restaurant made me feel so sexy eating here. It's so chic and the food is so good. The cocktails: so well balanced, so gorgeous, and absolutely delicious. I could just come here and drink. The appetizers: absolutely delicious. We ended up getting two plates of the escargot because it's been the best we've had in the area! The mains: the lamb? Melt. In. You. Mouth. And the portion was massive. I had to share it. And the rockfish was absolutely succulent. Our waitress was such a peach and so attentive, even though we were seated outside. I cannot recommend CookHouse enough. Don't let the location fool you, this is a gorgeous restaurant creating some of the best food in the city.

Yelp
Cookhouse is a cute neighborhood restaurant tucked neatly into Bolton Hill. The place is small but inviting. When we arrived on a Thursday night, we had a 40 minute wait. The time prescribed was very accurate. We were seated and received drinks and service pretty quickly. The highlight is the overall experience was by far the service. I loved how attentive but down to earth everyone was. I didn't get to try any drinks but by looks of the crowd at the bar, the bartenders are worth coming back for. For starters, we had the wings. They were delightful. Small but flavorful. The peanut sauce took them to the next level in my opinion. I would definitely order them again. The downside was the burger. I was super pressed to get one but honestly I was very underwhelmed. I saw the intention to provide a burger worthy of the price tag, however in my opinion, it was juts too many flavors that didn't come together for me. The French fries were good. They taste like fresh McDonald's fries. Overall, even though I did not enjoy my burger, I would come back. It's very rare that I don't enjoy my entree and still recommend a restaurant, but in this case the quality was there.

Yelp
Cookhouse has been on my list of places to try for a while now and I finally got a chance to go. It did not disappoint! The restaurant is very small but quaint and nestled in an adorable neighborhood. I was able to find parking easily on the street on a Wednesday at 5:30p which was a big plus. Note* Cookhouse does not take reservations so be sure to show up around 5:45p (restaurant opens at 6p) so you can nab a table without a wait. We arrived at 5:45 and were first in line. I ordered a mocktail to start- There isn't a list on the menu so I just asked the bartender to surprise me. I was presented with a beautiful drink with a lavish dill garnish and house made passion fruit "caviar." It was amazing! I have no idea what it was but I was impressed. If you are having a dry March or just not feeling like a cocktail, I definitely recommend trying out one of their unique mocktails! For appetizer, we tried the crispy oxtail wontons, crisped mushrooms, and crab Welsh rarebit. All 3 were amazing but I was really dazzled by the crisped mushrooms and truffled aioli! 10/10 recommend. For entree we tried the half roasted chicken and rigatoni. The roasted chicken was perfectly cooked with crispy skin, truffled mashed potatoes, and a delicious au jus on the side. SO GOOD. The rigatoni was hearty, yet light and full of flavor. I honestly couldn't stop eating it. So glad I finally made it out to try this place! We will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
This place was super cute! Small and quaint with delicious craft cocktails. The entire place was lit up by candles! How cool is that! They had a late night cocktail hour and it was the perfect way to end the night. The bartender who created the menu was excellent in explaining everything and great service! Def recommend.

Yelp
Cookhouse had been on my to try list for a while, and I finally tried it a few weeks ago with a friend before a show at the nearby symphony hall. And then I went back again a few weeks later. And I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. What a hidden gem in Baltimore! Why did I wait so long to go? Why hasn't everyone been?! (Full disclosure: I have technically been before, when - during the pandemic - it pivoted to being a coffeeshop and cafe, but they are back to only dinner and drinks 4 nights a week. Just in case you see some old pictures of bagels when I used to frequent it from work.) What you need to know: It's really good. It's also small (maybe 10 tables tops - a few larger, most two-tops and four-tops - with a bar with another maybe 8 seats?). It's only open for dinner and drinks four nights a week for 4 hours each night (Wednesday through Saturday, 6-10pm; although it stays open late for cocktails until 1am on Saturdays!). And it doesn't take reservations. Don't let this stop you from trying it. Do like the locals in the know - get there at 5:45 (they open at 6) and be the first person in line for a table (each time I've gotten there at 5:45, I've definitely gotten in with the first group and gotten a table)! What makes Cookhouse so spectacular? The food and drinks are spectacular. Practically every bite I've tried has been some of the best food I've had in the city. On my first visit, the ox tongue steak with Bermuda onion red wine gravy, pomme purée, and glazed carrots made me silent for about 8 minutes while I ate it. I couldn't even talk to my friend, because I had to eat that entire tender, luscious tongue steak. (I talk a lot and silence when eating is pretty much the highest compliment I can give a restaurant and its food.) I've never had tongue like that before (I love it braised in tacos or sliced thin at delis); it truly blew me away. The smoked salmon and caviar starter we had and the gnocchi Bolognese we shared (we shared one starter and two entrees, although I think I might have taken more than my fair share of the tongue) were both excellent as well. And the food on my second visit made clear that first visit was not a fluke. Those pig ears, the perfectly cooked Iberico pork, that sticky toffee pudding...! And - as if that weren't enough - their beverage program is fantastic. The cocktails, the wine, the after dinner options...! Everything I've tried has been amazing, but there's something special on the menu if you're up for something a little different. A drink called "You" involves a member of the beverage staff coming over to your table and asking you some pretty personal questions (the idea is that they ask questions that require answers that show a little of who you really are - they don't just ask your favorite spirit and your favorite mixer; it felt like a really interesting conversation with a stranger). It takes a little bit of time, but it felt really personal and special, and I enjoyed both the experience and the cocktail created for me. Cookhouse is simply excellent. A gem. I'm almost afraid to talk it up too much - the line might get longer and I might have to start showing up at 5:30 instead of 5:45. But since it's so good that I've already been telling everyone I know, I guess there's no harm in sharing here, too!

Yelp
I came for quick dinner and drinks with a friend and found a new favorite spot! Had the summer salad, while slightly overdressed was the freshest salad I think I've ever had at a restaurant. The popcorn added the perfect savory and crunchy addition! I met Gabe who is a rockstar bartender and we had some delicious wine and a Key lime pie cocktail that ended up being a perfect dessert! It's a bit small but the decor is very pretty and if you get a spot you'll have an excellent time!

Yelp
They have the best espresso martini I have had in my life! We came to CookHouse for drinks after dinner and we luckily got a seat at the bar. The place is super small with just a few tables and a few chairs at the bar so expect a wait because they do not take reservations. But I will say the QUALITY this place produces is like no other! They have a rotations food menu so it's always changing which makes it fun! If you're looking for a true dining and drinking experience this is the spot!

Yelp
100% recommend for a date night dinner or dinner out with friends!! I was so wowed by the friendly service and more importantly the food!! I went with a few of my girl friend and had the steak frites as my main and tried the gochujang wings. Everything was full of flavor!! The cocktail menu is so fun and creative as well. The matcha cocktail I ordered was delicious AND presented beautifully. I loved it so much I went again the following weekend with my boyfriend and our friends. He got the steak frites and I ordered the chicken breast main and we all shared the prawns and soft shell crab appetizer. Everything was phenomenal and I can't wait to go back. 10/10 recommend for anyone in the area.

Yelp
I don't post often b/c I have to be inspired to do so! Consider me captivated, inspired, and delighted! Cook House is true to its words. They can cook their arse off and the design is truly a cozy, homey, upscale vibe with the perfectly ambient music. With that being said, call ahead, or make a #resi because it is a small space. Glad we did and we were seated right away. Servers were knowledgeable, fast and attentive. Every dish came in a timely manner, and speaking of which, here's my first dish ... Apps: 1. The PIG EARS! #HELLOOO! Get the pig ears!!! A tranquil balance of salty, sweet and spicy. For. My texture loves this dish also has plenty of CRUNCH! The Crème does exactly what you need it to do, providing a cooling and slightly tangy landing strip for your taste buds. 2. The salad! We are adults now and adults order salad. It's fresh with a good mixture of flavor and brightness. Main: The steak Frites! Perfectly medium, good crisp on the fries and thank you for the au jus! Now for my taste it needed a dash of salt but of course this place had a great rock salt ready for me to finesses onto my stake! The DESSERT!: The date cake is divine! Moist cake, thick rich ice cream, salty toffee, served hot and steamy! What more could you ask for! 10/10 would recommend! Thank me later!

Yelp
We (2ppl) walked in a little after they opened on a Friday night, no reservations can be made at this location. Pretty busy being they just opened at 6pm. We stood at the front of the restaurant for roughly 5-7min, staff were making eye contact but were not saying anything to greet us or tell us about a potential wait. After a few more minutes I had to walk up to a server to ask about being seated, he looked around the restaurant and said there is a 4 tip that needed to be cleaned but they usually save it for parties of 4. He walked off. Another young lady walked by then greeted us told us the same about the table and was a little hesitant to seat us there but did it anyway after cleaning the table off. We already had an idea of what we wanted to order, it just took a really long time for the same young lady to come back. We asked to place our drink order and for her to come back for our starter. she wasn't very knowledgeable about the wine offerings and gave us a literal "ehhh" sound when asking about the Pinot Blanc under bubbles, chalked it up to the Chef continuously changing the menu. After 15min the server comes back and asks if we were ready to place our drink order- even though we did already. Then states she forgot to put them in, takes our appetizer order and walks off. Our app was finished by the time she came back to take the main course. Which were fabulous. My partner ordered the Proper Spicy Burger (not pictured). To finish we ordered a couple Ports since we have never had before. Again, the server did not have any knowledge on these beverages. I'd return but rather sit at the bar.

Yelp
Delicious food from start to finish! Half off wine bottles on Wednesdays, appetizers included crisped mushrooms, crab Welsh rarebit, and crispy oxtail wontons did not disappoint! The jumbo lumb crab sourdough was plentiful but the oxtail cabbage and green onion dumpling was a star! The chicken was surprisingly moist, potatoes had a hint of truffle and carrots and onions were caramelized (something I would never order but the table insisted), Ox tongue steak. . . If you are adventurous or want to try something new, this won't disappoint. If you want red meat get the steak frites! The rigatoni, yummy! Peas, asparagus, lemon ricotta, morels mushrooms - say no more! Overall, if you want a local foodie vibe with a great atmosphere look no further! No reservations, make sure you get in line right when they open!

Yelp
Truly a five-star meal in Baltimore. I've been wanting to go to CookHouse for years but never find myself in Bolton Hill. First of all, the neighborhood is absolutely magical. It's charming with amazing homes. I'm sad I've been sleeping on CookHouse for so long. Upon entering and eating I immediately wanted to come back. They don't take reservations so we were second in line to go in when they open at 6. They had heaters outside while you wait which is so lovely. We were a bit pressed for time as we were going to the BSO after but we still were able to experience everything CookHouse had to offer. We started with bread service (love a simple thing like bread service) the butter was a bit cold but lovely despite with the salt in top. We ordered the smoked salmon caviar to start even though it didn't go with the meal. It was so good - perfectly portioned bite size of salmon with eggs, crème friache, onion, capers with the perfect toasted brioche. Then we got the ox tongue (I will never say no to tongue). It was a whole piece of tongue which is so unique and it was so tender and delicious. We also shared the gnocchi bolognese which was text book gnocchi. The bolognese was perfectly salty and craveable. The best part of cookhouse is the "you" cocktail. It's unlike any experience I've ever had. Instead of someone asking you which spirits you like the bartender (Aaron when we went) asks you personal questions to get a sense of who you are to craft a cocktail tailored to your liking. The restaurant has the best lighting it's cozy and intimate. There's a main dining area as well as a bar when you can dine alone. Cookhouse is a very very special place and I can't wait to come back to get their caviar service.

Yelp
I liked the ambiance of CookHouse RIGHT AWAY! It reminded me so strongly of the now closed Bookmakers, only this place was brighter during the day (as Bookmakers blacked out their windows) and was a much smaller, more intimate setting. I gave 3 stars because while I loved the look and feel of the place, service was SLOWWWWWW. Our waiter virtually never came to our table. We had to flag him down. I was ready to go before the rest of my party and getting our check was an ordeal. Then the server never came back for me to pay. I had to go to the bar to close out my portion of the bill. Pretty annoying and I didn't feel like they were slammed that evening. The second star off was the food. I was underwhelmed by what I tried from my companion's orders. I personally ordered the salt cod fritters, and immediately wondered where the salt part came in, lol. Seasoning, or lack thereof, filters into my reviews a lot. I'd definitely go back, the vibe was right, and the beer was decent. And perhaps I can find a go to item on the menu. We'll see.

Yelp
This place is absolutely stunning! The inside is tiny yet grand. I love the gilded age esque accents paired with the gastropub vibes. I haven't been able to eat here yet (although I've heard great things about the food) but I was able to try one of the most unique cocktails I've ever had in my life. It was recommended I try the Dragon Eggs cocktail. I had no idea what to expect but was told it was a "one bite" "edible cocktail" - I'm sorry, whaaaat? What was prepared for me was a spoon filled with little mango flavored balls (sounds weird I know) and a shot of some of the most delicious rum I've ever had. The idea is that you take the shot and the spoonful of "eggs" at the same time resulting in an explosion of flavors. All of this sounds like one big innuendo but I promise you just have to try it to believe it! Bartender Gabe seriously outdid himself. I hear his late night happy hours on Saturdays are a huge hit too. I will be back!

Yelp
Hubby and I wanted to go out last minute and I discovered this place on 2024 best restaurants in Balto. Magazine. Place takes no reservations, but luckily we had enough to get there by 6 pm when they opened on Friday. The place is a bit small but very charming with vintage vibes. Cocktails are so pretty and delicious. I had Honey In Foam and Soda on the Beach. I think the green foliage in the Honey In Foam was a bit overpowering though because that's all I could smell and didn't enjoy as much. The Soda on the Beach was very refreshing, sweeter, and light. For appetizers, we had the grilled octopus and gochujang chicken wings. I liked them both. My hubby thought the chicken wings were a bit sweet. Being Koreans, I thought the chef did a decent job but I would have preferred if it was more crispy. For dinner, I had Steak Frites which was good. The sauce is probably what I liked the most. Asked for medium and got what I expected. The Chicken Milanese which my hubby got was also good. The arugula salad over the fried chicken paired well. As for dessert, I think they could do better; didn't like what was on menu so we decided not to get it. And finally, staff was excellent. I gave it 4 stars because it was very good but not exceptional.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend! This is such a cute restaurant in an adorable neighborhood in Baltimore. The atmosphere and staff were very welcoming. The food was delicious and menu was different - had the best pig ears I've ever had! The coolest thing is the menu is rotating so you'll want to come back!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Every dish we had was thought out and executed so well. I've been eyeing this place for awhile and decided to treat my sister here for a celebration and I was not disappointed one bit! The squash & beet salad was the best salad I had in my life so far. Well balanced with the textures, flavors, and was so fresh! My sister had the duck confit and gave me a sample of it: the meat was so deliciously juicy. My pumpkin gnocchi tasted rich, soft, and light. The sauce and mushrooms balanced out this heavy pasta. Couldn't really taste the pumpkin flavor but was scrumptious regardless. The cocktails were beautiful to the eye. Surprised us how light, crisp, and chilly they tasted. We were fortunate that the weather was on the warmer side that day to not feel too cold from these drinks.

Yelp
We could not wait to try this place and were excited to finally try it! Tried to get there early and luckily there was no wait. Things that were a bit confusing.. server did not know what was in the cocktails or what flavors were in them, especially since the menu does not describe the ingredients. Usually at cocktail bars the servers are knowledgeable of this and chat with you to help you choose a cocktail you will enjoy. Did not feel overall service was that great compared to other places in the area. For example, we ordered the French press cocktail and it was dropped off with no explanation. We saw the timer counting down so we were like okay so we wait. Then the timer went off and we didn't know what to do. Had to try to grab someone's attention to ask. First person said he didn't know the answer. So we had to try to get someone else's attention. Finally they brought a glass over to pour it. Some direction would have been nice. Food was tasty but nothing was wow. Overall had high expectations but service is definitely lacking.

Yelp
Just go for the drinks, trust me!! I was VERY excited to try this place after failing to get a table a few times due to limited spacing however I must say I was disappointed with the dishes served. Everything lacked flavor to the point that even salt was lacking. The Cod fritters made me think of a Gortons fish sticks The shrimp dish was okay but ended up being the best tasting dish out of everything ordered. The Roasted chicken was extremely dry and lacked flavor. All in all, I wouldn't recommend them for dinner until a new menu is in rotation.

Yelp
Wow! Cookhouse was amazing! The space is small but not cramped and it's just beautiful inside. Service was excellent and cocktails were fantastic. The mushroom croquettes are one of the best bites I've had all year. They also make a mean espresso martini!

Yelp
Hands down the best Espresso Martini I ever had... but more in that later. So first expression, cute and quaint. It's a little smaller than I expected however it's very nice. I was fortunate enough to find a spot at the bar. One of the highlights of my dining experience was simply watching the bartender make the drinks (when tweezers are involved you know it's serious lol). Drink 1 was the Chalice is was so good. For my meal I ordered the Petite Lobster Roll and the Meatballs. The lemon butter was so good and the meatballs melt in in your mouth. I had a taste for an espresso Martini. Gabe (the bartender/mixologist who is super nice ) said they make the best one in town... he wasn't lying. I didn't want the drink to end lol. I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

Yelp
Wow, this meal and restaurant are a total vibe. Went here with a friend and we shared so many dishes. Absolutely loved the prawns (and am still thinking about them to this day). The menu is seasonal and changes frequently which adds variety. Be aware that they don't take reservations so it might get crowded on the weekends. Well worth it though!

Yelp
New brunch and dinner place in the former B Bistro. Great coffee drinks, hot chocolate, food and service. No reservations, so come early. Love this new café in Bolton Hill! Downside: The layout with albeit smart-looking bar is cramped with parallel long couch and limited table space gets noisier when busy. However... Upside: Takeout and delivery!

Yelp
A very stylish and intimate spot to have a very delicious cocktail or dinner. Great for pre theatre or just a casual date night out with your special someone or family. Loved it!!!

Yelp
Wow is all I can say. They do not take reservations so make sure you are there before they open. I love that the place is small, the ambiance is beautiful, it's quiet, and the food and drinks were AMAZING. It was such a beautiful little place tucked away in Bolton Hill. We will absolutely be back. Apps: Salt & Pepper Prawns Patatas Bravas Lil Wings Drinks: Dayana IDFK Fig It Just Peachy Entrees: Steak Frites Sea Beam Dessert: Sticky Toffee

Yelp
Really pretty restaurant with good service ie and ambience. Good light in the afternoon and evening. Loved B, and this is a nice follow up. The thing was that the food was kind of average. I mean, it's fine. Maybe even good. But not special or great. Drinks were really good. But they need to make the food a little more special and cook it a little better. Prices are high but fair. I think this place will do well because of all the things it does right. I wish the food could be a little more. Steak frites ordered medium rare was served medium well. Other dishes were just ok. But drinks were good and space is nice.

Yelp
Visited this establishment for the first time for "Girl's Night Out." The place is situated on a corner lot and there's four tables of two for at least four parties if interested. However, on the inside it's a bit small, yet cozy. Enjoyed my meal of essentially burger and fries and for the first time had bacon jam. Interesting taste for sure. My amigas enjoyed their meals as well. The wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I would probably visit again.

Yelp
CookHouse is the perfect nightcap spot. Seating is limited but it makes for an intimate setting which pairs well with their cocktail options. The menus change frequently but never disappoints and the drink menu features unique combinations.

Yelp
Cookhouse continues to have a great rotating menu with new options. The cocktails were new and exciting even tho the mushroom one wasn't my favorite. I usually don't order salad but was amazing with anchovy dressing. And the eggs asparagus was a great change up. Service is always top notch and love warning them make the cocktails at the bar

Yelp
A true hidden hidden gem! Not purposefully hidden but if you know, you know! Cookhouse doesn't need to make noise because the food, atmosphere and service speaks for itself! I had only been here for lunch so the dinner experience was just that and experience! We did make reservations which u suggested doing as it was busy on a Friday. We were quickly seated and greeted by our waitress who was really nice and gave great recommendations. We started off with some delicious cocktails and the summer salad which was delicious! The menu I am sure sadly will be changing but to even more deliciousness I'm sure! We were lucky to catch the tail end of the summer menu. The salad was so unique and refreshing ! I literally said "wow I could eat this everyday" haha. We then ordered the chicken and burger! Both were delicious! Flavorful, cooked perfectly and just had you wanting to continue eating! To finish it off we had the ice cream which was very rich and tasty just how I like it lol! Overall 10/10! I can't wait to come back an try Gabe's after hour drinks on Saturdays and their new Fall menu! I highly recommend this spot just because well it's pretty dope! Great for causal yet upscale dinner, date night or just a business lunch/ dinner! Lots of great street parking as well!

Yelp
I have heard the buzz about this place for the past few months and finally could go Friday night. It did not disappoint!! We sat at the bar and watched the bartenders work their magic. They are true artists. I had the Espresso Martini, the best I have ever tasted. The food was out of this world. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
So here I am just doing my usual slipping into an Instagram (IG) vortex and I started looking at local eateries. I came across CookHouse and have been wanting to try this place ever since it switched over from their phenomenal predecessor, 'B'. CookHouse has risen in its place, post pandemic. I must say I truly appreciate how they adapted to the socially distancing that required right now. They have converted the sizable restaurant space into a high-end, personalized cafe/ grocer with some interesting finds: homemade butter, marinades, tomato sauces, jams, chutneys, fancy mustards, et al. There is beautiful velvet banquette type seating available but I believe they are only open for Carryout/takeout and outdoor dining, at the moment. Based on an IG posting, I saw a mouth watering bagel & lox sammy, referred to as a 'New Yorker'. This immediately caused me to wax nostalgic to the halcyon days of my youth in NY (LI) and simply had to give this a try. So u know, the New Yorker is made with: flavorful, silky, tender house smoked salmon lox, scallion cream cheese, tomato, red onion, capers and a pinch of umami salt on a toasted everything bagel. I knew upon my 1st bite, this was EVERYTHING I was hoping for and actually surpassed my expectations... SCORE!!! This is my go to sandwich, NOW!!! Yummm... **Caveat- New Yorker is only available on Saturdays** Pain au Chocolat- yummy chocolate croissant. SCORE!! Pomegranate Italian soda - Delish - SCORE!! So glad this space is open once again (under this new name), especially since my other fave local spot (On the Hill) has yet to open its doors.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem and addition to the Bolton Hill area. The food here is delicious, the service is excellent. We met up with a few friends here on a Friday night. Got lucky and found a few open seats at the bar, where they also provide the entire dinner menu in addition to drinks. The bartender Gabe was warm and inviting and even able to customize and come up with new drinks on the spot based on our preferences. They serve their diverse supper menu from 6pm to 10:30 pm Wed - Saturday nights. Starters range from chicken livers to lamb lollies and seafood cocktail. Supper dishes include venison/wild boar/beef meatloaf to curry or jumbo lumped crabcakes and dry-aged strip steak. Highly recommend this classy cocktail bar and restaurant!

Yelp
In my time here in Bmore, I've seen this restaurant space go through many versions and who knows how many ownerships, but hopefully the current business in in it for the long haul. CookHouse is definitely a great addition to the Bolton Hill community, and for good reason...It's a great spot to for a chill night on the town, good drinks and some of the best burgers out there. My dining friend and I both enjoyed a burger and beer on our last visit. My burger was a perfectly cooked medium - juicy and flavorful, topped with a soft pillowy bun. Fries were great, too.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday date night and there were several open tables so we were seated right away. The staff are super friendly and give great recommendations. I got "That Ice Cream Truck" as my first cocktail and it was so fun! It was a strawberry cocktail with sweet foam and the little crunchy pieces on the outside of a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar. I ordered the mushroom curry for dinner and my husband got the steak frites. The curry was beautifully served with a large fried mushroom on top of a bed of rice and surrounded by curry. It was flavorful and had a good kick of spice. My husband enjoyed his steak frites as well. We had ordered a starter to share, but it never came.... so we decided to go double on the desserts! The fig pudding was like a delicious bread pudding - warm and served with ice cream and a caramel sauce. This was delicious. Their whole dessert menu was "puddings" and I can't remember the other dessert, but it looked like creme brulee and was yummy too. There was something about the texture/consistency of the pudding below the caramelized sugar that didn't seem to fit, but I couldn't really put my finger on it. The server recommended the espresso martini (it comes in decaf!) and this was probably my favorite part of the meal.

Yelp
Excellent experience , the service was top notch and steak, burgers etc were just perfect. The desserts were a little bit a downer but overall it was fabulous

Yelp
Dined outside at a small table for two on a beautiful evening in Baltimore, felt like an American French restaurant. Had Remy serve us what I would consider a great meal for about $130, including 2 glasses of wine. I had second best heirloom tomato salad in my life, best was in Rome. Steak Frites were very good, but excellent was the vegetarian version of Paella, made with mushrooms. The service was casual and professional. Wish this restaurant was in Malibu, CA as restaurant choices here are few and very expensive. Excited to go back and try the new menu.
