Where To Day Drink In Winter - New York - The Infatuation

"There are two Cooper’s Craft & Kitchen locations in the city, and the one in the East Village is mostly just a not-great bar where someone might spill beer on you, then ask if you’d like to fight about it. The one in Chelsea, however, is great. It’s a little smaller, with a bar up front and an elevated dining room in the back, and, if you squint, you could probably pretend you’re in a log cabin. Plus, there’s a Happy Hour on weekdays until 7pm with discounts on liquor, wine, and their many drafts." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

Stumbled upon this place unintentionally and what a joy! Super kind and helpful service, good beer and cocktails and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. The fries are perfect (we are from Belgium so we know the real deal 😜). So if you are nearby a must go, if not definitely worth the detour.

Loved this bar. The daily specials are amazing. They also have everyday Happy Hour. I went on a Wednesday. They had the Sandwich special, which includes Smashburger. That's $10. On Wednesday they also have $10 Lost Irish Old Fashioned. It was a great deal. They have a good beer selection. I also got the fries with the Burger. The fries were a $5 addition, still a great deal. The Smashburger was delicious and the fries were some of the best I've had. They were crispy outside and the inside was like mashed potatoes. The presentation is appealing. The bartender was very nice. I would definitely come back.

Google
We had a great time! The food was delicious, and the cocktails were expertly made. The only downside was that it got a bit loud, which made chatting a little tricky. It might not be the best spot for a cozy night, but it's perfect for a fun evening out with friends!

Google
Feb 2025: ridiculously delicious smash burger. Added the bacon and fries, both with the money. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. I'd definitely come back when I'm craving a burger. 2020: Love the wings. Best in the city. Great beer selection too.

Google
This is a fun neighborhood spot. We got the cheese curds, but all their bar bites/appetizers looked delicious! The cocktails might be a bit overpriced considering the quality of their ingredients, but the happy hour deals seem good (they only offer happy hour Monday-Friday). My primary issue was the service, but since there were only 2 servers when we went, so this may not be a typical issue.

Google
Just some really fire drinks… I can’t even recall what we had but we had like four drinks and they were incredible! One of them was definitely one of the best old fashions I’ve ever had! We didn’t get any food, but all the drinks were amazing

Came here for a friend's birthday and we had a great time. The staffs are friendly and attentive. On a Friday, Saturday night they are super packed lots of singles women everywhere. The food was good, well seasoned and taste great. Atmosphere feels cozy and a bit stuffy if too much people. Overall great place will be coming back soon.

Google
Super loud music but that was on Saturday night. Food was great, try the salmon & crispy rice. It was amazing. Drinks were really good, my girl got the cucumber drink and I had to try it. My old fashioned was perfect. We got a corner seat and was able to people watch with our drinks. I would totally go back to Cooper's to try more stuff.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but we were able to get a table. We got the espresso martinis and they were so so good. They have chocolate shavings on them and it was honestly one of the better martinis that I've had. Beware that if this place is crowded, it does get pretty loud but it's definitely more of a chill sit down, kind of vibe and not a dancing around type of place !

Yelp
I've gotten wings to go very recently on two different days - once from the Hot Ones outpost from UberEats and once from calling Coopers for a pickup order. The Hot Ones was open pretty late on a Thursday and the 12 piece maple chili wings were really tasty - the spice built up over each wing. It doesn't come with ranch or anything FYI. The packaging of the Hot Ones order was so sturdy and nice. We went into pickup, towards the back of the bar, and encountered a drunk man that sort of just fell lol. The bar wasn't full at all at that point so we almost thought it was a prank but it wasn't haha. The wings came to $24 after tax for 12. The next night we got the mango habanero from the restaurant itself, size Small wings. It came with 5 wings for $13 after tax. I thought it was minutely cheaper after 11PM late night from the menu online but it rang up as normal. This did come with blue cheese and was super fast!

Yelp
I recently visited Cooper's Craft and Cocktail Bar in the city and it was a fantastic experience. The bar has a great atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a good drink and watching a game. I was there during the Copa Third Place match, and the ambiance was lively and enjoyable. The cocktails at Cooper's are excellent. I tried a tropical drink, and it was amazing - refreshing and perfectly crafted. The truffle fries were another highlight. They were fresh and delicious, making for a perfect snack alongside my drink. Service was good as well.

Yelp
I came back and had the food. This is one of the sports in the east village that serves food late. Wasn't too crowded, but I don't know if that's their normal, or if it's because of the Christmas holiday. There was one server and one bartender, but I didn't feel neglected. I had the smash burger, which was as expected. Nothing special, but it was hot and the cheese was well melted, and it hit the spot. The fries were average. I got a lot of little small pieces for some reason. I had one of their tequila drinks, the All Shook Up, made with grapefruit. It was refreshing. I'm a bit of a cocktail snob. Cocktails here are limited, and many are draft cocktails. This is not a place I would frequent over and over, but as previously mentioned, it's a good spot to grab a quick drink, to kill some time, or grab late night food when every other kitchen is closed.
google avatar

Dhilip R.

Yelp
You get amazing service and this bar is a mix of a sports bar with a cozy vibe. Good ambiance. Was here for a Saturday night and was able to get a table. The bar was pretty filled. They had an amazon cocktail menu and bites. My order: Six point crisp Tropical Storm Truffle Fries Loved the fries. The fries were a litter thick. The tropical storm was on the sweeter side. The sixpoint crisp was a good pilsner. The staff were good and prompt on service.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday around 5:30 and the place was pretty busy. There were a ton of people standing around the bar, but me and my date were fortunate enough to get a table for a few drinks before our next stop. I got the pineapple passionfruit margarita. Really enjoyed this one, if just a bit tart. Also tried the penicillin which was a bit more spirit forward than I was expecting, but still good! Definitely would come back to try their brunch and other cocktails

Yelp
I came here for a drink with my friend on a Friday night around 9:30-10 pm. We were seated right away. It's super cozy and intimate inside. I liked the candles and the ambiance. However, we had to flag a server to take our order. My friend got the Hudson cider and I got the Magner's cider - which came in this HUGE bottle. I think that was definitely worth the $9 because of how huge this bottle was. It came with a glass of ice so I could pour it in.
google avatar

Christine Y.

Yelp
This is more like a 3.5. Not sure the food is worth the price pt. 2 beer, 2 sides 2 burgers came out to be about $90. Burger alone does not come with sides so it was $16-19 solo. The smashed double burger looked small compared to my hand. Sides like truffle fries and cheese curds were about $10 each. The fries were great. The chicken sando I had was alright. The bread was a little stale. It's a nice brunch spot but not worth a $25 burger and fries place. There's alot of other spots that offer less than $20 burger combo (sando and side) amd offer bigger portions. This is a pass for me. Service was nice.
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
I didn't try their food, but I didn't enjoy the beer selection! The staff was friendly, and there were two separate areas delineated by an island in the middle that separated the bar area from the seating area. The bar was cozy, and I enjoyed my time there.

Yelp
It was my birthday on Saturday and I wanted to go to the movies at 11th and 2nd avenue with my friends ....so Cooper's came to mind to eat a birthday lunch. It was crowded so we sat at the bar and ordered. It was such great food and my friends loved their choices. Super hot French fries, flavorful tomato bisque and cheese sandwich on sourdough! The salad had peeled cucumbers. The brussel sprouts were served on a bed of butternut squash puree. Oh wow!! Who does that? So delicious. Mark was the barkeep and our waiter and it was his first month on the job. He was from Dublin and adorable and attentive. Thank you for making my birthday so delicious and delightful. I come to Cooper's on occasion but it is my new favorite place. I'll be back more often for sure. Thanks for the great prices. Well priced and super great quality.
google avatar

Taylor Z.

Yelp
Pretty average decent bar. Lots of space on higher rise tables. Some tvs if you're watching a game.
google avatar

Rijoota G.

Yelp
get the truffle fries!!!! truly someone of the best truffle fries I have ever had. Coopers is great for a late night snack and cocktail time, as the three different cocktails my group got were all delicious. The service was great and we were sat at a table immediately. Good vibes all around!
google avatar

Jackie O.

Yelp
We came here to have pre dinner drinks on a Friday at 4pm. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the layout of the bar - you can sit anywhere and see the entire room but it also has all these little spaces to sit with your drink and it doesn't feel like you're in a college library fishbowl. I had my usual tequila on the rocks and my husband tried the Sunday Beer Co. 'Light and Tight' 3.9% (just like the name, an easy and refreshing beer). Good people watching with all the natural light (at that time) coming through all the windows. We will be back!

D S.

Yelp
Cooper's has some of the best bar food in NYC. Every time I visit the city I end up stopping at Coopers for a burger or chicken sandwich and some garlic fries.

Megan B.

Yelp
Cute inside, quite spacious and lots of nooks to hang out in both inside and out. The Guinness was one of the worst I've had in the city to be totally honest, probably partially to do with the fact that the bartender poured and served it in under a minute (it was not the least bit busy so I can't give him the excuse that he was in a rush or anything). But I just came here to sip on the drink and hang out so it's not a total loss.
google avatar

Michelle X.

Yelp
The fried chicken sandwich was delicious and worth value. Fries are basic. Crispy brussel sprouts was ruined by the excessive amount of sauce they DROWNED the sprouts in; sprouts ended up being soggy and too saucy to attempt to finish. The ambiance was casual, and it seems it's a spot geared towards group gatherings. It got very loud inside with people screaming around 4 pm (sunday).
google avatar

Yelp
I was visiting friends this weekend and ended up at their favorite neighborhood spot. I can see why they love this place - the servers were fantastic, the food was excellent (and exactly what we needed after having a few too many cocktails at the same spot last night!). Do not sleep on the Brussels Sprouts, and ask for an extra mustard if you order the pretzel - trust me! By the time we left, i was on a first name basis with the servers and felt like a total regular, Can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Laurie K.

Yelp
We just slide in for a bite to eat. The food was fantastic and the staff very attentive. Did not use the bathroom so no reviews. I had a salad and Mr .Romance had the pork chop. The moistest pork chop I have ever had. Raul at the door was extremely welcoming and accommodating. Tell him we said hi.
google avatar

Kamron H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick drink. Tried the Interboro Lifted IPA. solid hazy IPA. They had a solid happy hour, and for someone experiencing the NYC happy hour scene for the first time. solid spot for happy hour, service was quick even though we sat outside in the small outside patio, and I'd come back here next time I'm in town
google avatar

Jeanette B.

Yelp
We came in to have a couple of drinks and appetizers and we ended up staying here for a couple of hours. Our waiter and bartender were awesome! The bartender even put music we liked on for us. Very friendly. We all had fun and a great time. This was our last night and New York and we definitely went out with a bang at this place.
google avatar

Jatin A.

Yelp
Another 4 star rating for Cooper's. We were here for trivia night, as our search for the best Tuesday night trivia bar continues (I think we might have a winner but I won't reveal it just yet...). Trivia here was less enjoyable than at Triona's here, however. Perhaps it's the fact that we preferred the Triona's crowd, or perhaps it was the fact that we did well, but not as well as we did last time. So that might be on us. We tried, though! As for food, we got the spicy tuna crackers (they're called something else), which are bite sized appetizers. It is certainly one of the nicer dishes I have had at a bar. The smash burger on the other hand was mediocre. Nothing stood out, really, and it felt plain. However given that we were not asked for a temperature, and that it turned out to be medium, that's a plus for me. The waiter/waitress was helpful, and available, which isn't something we have necessarily experienced elsewhere.

Johnathan G.

Yelp
As someone who thought I had an isolated incident but came to google and yelp I realize it's the same asshole bartenders and shitty servers. Irish guy is exactly who we're all talking about and he's bad for business crazy he still works because I also had a bad experience with him. Everything someone else explained has also been my experience... what a shit show
google avatar

Nora F.

Yelp
We found this place after trying to decide the two places to go around here. The other restaurant is just across from this restaurant. More people were dining outside than inside the restaurant. We ate inside, very spacious. We ordered shishito pepper as a starter. Then I had Avocado Toast, and Hubby had a Smash Burger. Honestly speaking, we liked our meals, but we thought the burger was just too small, tiny, like a joke. I was kind of ok with this because I never liked Hubby eating the hamburger bread, but the entire thing, including the protein that came with it, was tiny, too lol. My avocado toast was very good. It was served with fresh fig and egg. Our waitress didn't say much, wasn't a friendly type, but she did check on us. It is OK to try once, that's all.

Yelp
I've come here a couple of times for happy hour. Surprisingly have only been to the East Village location so far. Happy Hour involves $10 draft cocktails, $6 select draft beers, $8 wine/spirits and then I guess some apps priced around $10-12 till 7pm. I guess I like the variety and stretch of the happy hour options. They do have terrific craft beer outside of the happy hour. Ordered some kind of peculiar sour a few weeks ago after it hit 7pm and it was still an average price point of $8. They have plenty of outdoor seating which we've opted for more than inside if there's no at the bar seating because the music can get LOUD in here of your top 40 hits of every fist pumping Millenials dreams come true. It can turn a little broey. I will swim through the deuchery though for a solid happy hour. There's really not much along 2nd Avenue in the East village these days if you haven't been there in a minute. Almost everything has shuttered down. The waitresses and staff seem surprisingly on top of things while sitting outdoors so I give them major props for that especially once the bar really gets going. I've been tempted each journey out here to try the cheese curds and trust me, it will happen some day. Momma just needs (wants?) to lose a few pounds at the moment. The white wine could be better. It's pinot grig and tapered down to the wall. Haven't tried the draft cocktails yet but it's tempting. Have always just stuck to the ole reliable pilsner.
google avatar

Kim X.

Yelp
This is not a bad option in the area for a good smash burger with fries and a beer! The crowd was on the younger side when I went. But the burger was definitely good enough for me to return again. There seems to be a good happy hour window from M to F until 7 pm for 10 dollar cocktails, 5 dollar beers, 7 dollar glasses of wine or mixed drinks. I'm not really sure how frequently the website get updated. The prices may have gone up. But this is not a bad place to check out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Rex W.

Yelp
PURCHASED: 1x Chicken Burger ($15.00) + 1x Wings (small order -- 6 wings) COSTS: $36 PROS: - Read other reviews about how the music was good. Yeah--definitely playing my music some late-90s / early 2000s (e.g., Blink 182). - Liam is the F****** tits--cool Irish waiter. And, yes he knows which undergraduate program to attend in the country -- Hook'em Horns baby LFG! (Every year is our year.) - Hot doorlady CONS: - The Wings fucking sucked haha--sub par. Like frozen meat prepared. Do something about that! Jesus. I know we're cutting costs during these hard times. But, god bless I wouldn't feed that stuff to my family. - Wings only came in one wet flavor, mild. - The Chicken Burger -- Not bad. The buns weren't anything special. Looks like something you'd find out of your cafeteria. If we were talking pre-inflation (10% cheaper that the $15.00 price tag for the burger). IMPRESSION: - The ambience was good paired with those late '90s/early 2000 jams. I think all I wanted to do while hanging with new friends was talk to the door lady. Which I did haha. But, she didn't want to talk to me.

Hunter B.

Yelp
I've spent quite a bit of money here through the years. This is a great bar with high quality cocktails, good food, and an even better wait staff and ambience. The bar tenders are friendly and professional. The food is great (fish tacos are the best but so are the chicken bites). You will not go wrong here, wherever the occasion may be.
google avatar

Marlena K.

Yelp
This place is so intimate and has really bomb cocktails. It was annoying that they had to close tabs/the place early but this is something out of there control due to COVID. The drinks are so GOOD! I will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Really like the relaxed ambience of this place. They have a few selection of beers on tap. Seems like a good place to hang out with friends on the weekend.
google avatar

Avi R.

Yelp
Went to the bar the day before thanksgiving and it had a more lively vibe than almost every other bar in the neighborhood, understandably. Ordered wings and a beer. The bartender was nice and considerate. Wings were mediocre nothing crazy good. But definitely worth the chill vibe at the bar. However they didn't have Guinness, which was a bummer but the hunt for good wings and a pint of Guinness carries on.

Mike H.

Yelp
The service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I had a reservation and sat at my table until 20 minutes passed and no one came by. No water, no drinks, not even a crop dust. At that point I got up and left. The only reason I give this place a second star is because if you're lucky enough to have someone take your order, the drinks are delicious.
google avatar

Peggie Y.

Yelp
Great pretzel sticks that come with 2 dipping sauces - cheese sauce and savory mustard. We also ordered shishito peppers which are a bit on the oily side. They have a good list of beers and cider. I ordered a cider, and it arrived in a can with a nice glass filled with ice cubes. Our server was attentive. I would stop by this place again next time I am in the area and wanted to have a cold beer/cider.
google avatar

Marie Ragy R.

Yelp
This bar is pretty chill. Their drinks are strong and delicious. Definitely try their wings, fish tacos, margarita, and fries. You won't go hungry waiting for you food either. I wasn't a fan of the spicy tuna dish though. The service is great and the people who work here are friendly. The happy hour deals are not bad. They have specials every day.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
The cheese curds are fantastic. Great draft selection as well. Always a good choice when in the neighborhood

Elliott K.

Yelp
do not go. I'll be honest I am a regular at their sister bar the Grey Mare. the Grey Mare is always fantastic! After working for 9 hours starting at 7am I went to Coopers for a quick glass of wine before heading home. I got the house white wine. the last time I went it had been a Chardonnay. this time it was a bubbly sweet wine. I took a sip didn't like it and was met with terrible attitude from the woman who was bartending when I asked to switch it out with something else, to which I apologized profusely. She was incredibly rude. if someone says "I'm not trying to be rude but..." wow I was livid. I paid for the drink which I did not drink and I left. Hopefully the owners see this because I headed to Phebes for my quick glass of wine and they recognized her when I mentioned the situation. I have been to coopers a few times and will not be going back.
google avatar

Merricks W.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch and we had a great experience. Good espresso martini, very straight forward and not super creamy (which I love). The spicy chicken sandwich had a great level of flavor to it and not super spicy. Truffle fries were on point.
google avatar

Dany S.

Yelp
Really chill spot came for the happy hour. The old fashion is good. The parm fries and the fish tacos was good.
google avatar

Brandon A.

Yelp
the ambiance here is good but one of the servers was extremely rude, which ruined the entire experience. i came here extremely excited to finally try Coopers Craft and Cocktails, and my hopes were wholeheartedly shot.

Allen H.

Yelp
One usually accepts indifferent food at these cocktail places and it's fine. NOT here! OUTSTANDING. The food here is good. REALLY good. Limited menu but very few faults. And the service is three steps above what you hope for: thinking another cocktail? There she is, at your elbow, with a smile. And smart. Gem Salad with world-class Green Goddess dressing -- I am craving it right now. Pork Belly on Crispy Rice? Devine cabbage with flavored mayo and pork belly glazed to perfection. Then the best sliders we have had in decades and cooked as ordered. The tuna with the jalapeno was great even if we didn't love the cracker: Just eat the tuna tartar -- it is perfect. This is bar food at its best. BRAVO to the team. We love to cook and to eat and This is HAPPINESS on a plate. Order that salad and let me know what you think. And the pork belly. And the sliders.
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
I got extremely turnt here. 10/10 would recommend. Had a blast and the bartender was super cool
google avatar

Lucas E.

Yelp
I scheduled dinner with my husband before going to New York Theater Workshop last week. What a feast! Unexpected, totally. We don't usually think much about bar food, but at Cooper's every dish was outstanding. The pork belly, the sliders, and an amazing salad dressed in green goddess sauce. Every detail was incredible, including the service. A casual dinner which turned out to be memorable.
google avatar

Cesar J.

Yelp
The service today was very poor... I came here today for happy hour with 2 of my friends and ordered the "special ", $3 fish tacos, at 5:30 pm, half hour later we asked about the reason why ONlY three tacos weren't ready yet and the lady serving us told us, they were being made, at 6:30 when we were already ready to go, the tacos( 3 only) weren't ready and they didn't remember anything about it at all. Very bad experience.
google avatar

Karthik S.

Yelp
Amazing bar - the drinks on tap are all great, as is the service from the bartenders. The bouncers are extremely nice and offer great banter. A great location if living nearby - you can come back every 30 minutes to a brand new group of people and environment!
google avatar

Milo C.

Yelp
My friend and I went here for brunch because you can't beat a $5 mimosa, which was pretty strong. I got here when they opened at 11am and no one was in the restaurant. We were a party of two, and wanted to sit at a 4 person table since we were going to be doing wedding planning and needed the space. She laughed, and told us that we can't sit at that table, even though the restaurant was empty. I thought she was kidding... but she wasn't. I get it, but I'm still salty -1 Star. Anyway, I ordered the omelette which was delicious. They even swapped out the hash browns for a salad, which was not a problem. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the drinks. When we left, there was no one sitting at the 4 person table we wanted (of course I checked).
google avatar

A. A. S.

Yelp
One would think food at a bar is usually not fulfilling. This is not the case for Cooper's! Food is both sumptuous and satisfying. You won't go hungry with the sandwiches, truffle fries and bao buns, to name a few. The have a nice selection of local beers and cool cocktails. The staff is very friendly and cheerful. The hostess Andrea is so pleasant and accommodating. Sam and Danny are awesome. They know the menu like the back of their hand. Overall, Cooper's is nice and cozy. A great hangout for watching sports or just mingling. Definitely coming back.
google avatar

Megan W.

Yelp
The $1 fish tacos on Monday nights truly can't be beat. Like... it's a dollar, y'all. And it's really good. What can you get for $1 anymore? I'll tell you...you can get fish tacos on Monday nights at Coopers. We went in and said "can we have 10?" and they didn't even think twice. And I won't think twice before going back again and again.

Tyler S.

Yelp
Great beer selection but my bartender was inexplicaby rude and evidently hopped up on stimulants
google avatar

Lynette B.

Yelp
This place was bumpin' on a Saturday night. Not exactly the place to go for a quiet, mellow dinner, but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The people-watching and music are great. The service was good, but it was also crazy crowded so it took a bit to get our drinks and food. The beer selection is great (obviously) and the burger I had was really tasty. The bar was crowded but if I'm ever in town again, I'd definitely love to hang out at the bar and mingle with the cool kids.
google avatar

Seth K.

Yelp
Love this spot at ANYTIME of the day! Came by for some late night snacks and a few craft beers. I will ALWAYS order the Wisconsin Cheese Curds whenever I sit down here. So much so, I made my husband order his own because I won't share!! The Coopers Dog is delicious and the Hot Honey wings come nice and meaty! I'm never disappointed in the food here.
