Turu’s in Ballston Sells New York Style Slices From Timber Pizza Co. | Eater DC

"Copa Kitchen & Bar presents Spanish comfort food with a sports-bar vibe, serving flatbreads, skewers, and game-day items like wings tossed in a spicy chile and blood orange glaze, pot pie croquetas, and bomba (a potato fritter stuffed with cheese and pulled pork), alongside sandwiches, soups, salads, and sliders stacked with jamon serrano, manchego, and beef tenderloin; the bar — lined with huge TVs — makes its own sangrias and offers Spanish and local beers and craft cocktails, and the large dining room is offset by an open-concept kitchen." - Gabe Hiatt

Google
I am so glad I gave Copa Sips and Latin Tapas another try. While my very first visit started a bit rocky with noticeably slow service, I'm happy to say that the most recent experience was fantastic and truly showcased the restaurant's potential. My most recent visit was a genuinely good culinary experience. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and efficient—a major improvement that made the evening seamless. What really sets this place apart is the ambiance, particularly on a Friday night. The live music was absolutely fantastic and perfectly complemented the Latin tapas, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. It elevated the entire dinner into a memorable event. If you are looking for tasty Latin cuisine and an amazing night out, I highly recommend visiting. I’m glad I came back.

Finally got a chance to come try this place and it did not disappoint. From the moment you step inside you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation, the decor is beautiful. The waiter took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions over menu items and cocktails. We tried the pink Peruvian ceviche, guacamole and Guacho skewers this time and it was delicious! Looking forward to my next visit. Definitely check this place out.

Ambiance: Well-decorated Latin restaurant in Vintage Park with a beautiful & airy patio area as well as an impressive interior bar & dining area. Perfect spot for a night out, date, upscale lunch, or any occasion! The ceviche was the best I have ever had - absolutely love that it is served in a shell! Highly recommend the potatas bravas as well as the queso. The skewers were delicious for the main course and I loved the flan for dessert! Ample free parking available in the Vintage Park area. Friendly & fast service - Victor was incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes! Expansive menu and delicious cocktails. I will have to go back to try the wines! 10/10 dining experience

Google
I specifically searched google for tapas restaurants, and this one popped up. I met a coworker there to catch up. We opted to sit outside under a fan. We ordered the Brussels & belly and truffle fries. The brusssel sprouts were seasoned very well. A hint of sweetness and the char on the Brussel sprouts was good. Oh, and the taste of the thick cut bacon was divine. The truffle fries with the mayo dipping sauce was really good. For a drink, we ordered the Sol. The owner, chef, and 2 different waitresses checked on us throughout our visit. The chef gave us a free corn tostada because they made too many in the back. So, each table received a free one. That was very thoughtful. I will definitely be back to this place soon.

Google
I didn’t love the food but the staff here was very nice ( and accommodating to us and our toddler). Really nice bar vibe with beautiful interiors! Would go again and it’s a oerfect place for date night.

Google
I can't say enough good things about our experience at this Latin tapas bar! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel completely welcome — warm, attentive, and genuinely happy to have us there. We had our hearts set on one particular dish that, unfortunately, had sold out earlier in the day. Totally understandable, but what blew us away was how the team handled it. Without us even asking, they surprised us with several other tapas *on the house* as a gesture of goodwill. That kind of hospitality is rare and truly appreciated. And the best part? Every single dish was incredible. We ended up trying a few things we might not have ordered otherwise, and we absolutely fell in love with all of them. Bold flavors, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. This place has officially become our go-to spot for Friday nights. Great energy, unforgettable food, and a staff that goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Google
My husband and I booked a reservation for our anniversary. We had never visited but wanted to try something new. We were there for a super late lunch/ early dinner. From the moment we arrived we enjoyed every moment! We chose an outside table- because we were celebrating an anniversary they had a little vase with a flower and complimentary bubbly for us. We asked our waiter ( Victor) for recommendations, and they were all great. We had the mussels, my husband whose never had them raved about how delicious they were. Whatever sauce they add should be bottled and sold. ;) We also had the ceviche, and charcuterie board. I also had a hibiscus adult flavored drink. We loved the experience so much, we went back for dinner later that week. Where we tried some of the meat skewers, the ceviche trio and the mussels again. This place is definitely worth going to for a nice casual evening date or even a girl date with some friends.

Google
Just spectacular everything, the food, the atmosphere, the attention. Few places like this to enjoy a good meal. We visited it for the first time 3 weeks ago and since then we come every moment we can.

Yelp
Service: Angelo the bartender was top notch. Attentive and very knowledgeable. My brother and I enjoyed him describing his plans for infused liquors and upcoming drink specials. I had a Fall Mule that was infused with chai and cinnamon- like fall in a cup! The caipirinha was a refreshing change from my usual margarita. Ceviche was fresh and I liked the corn nuts- unexpected and nice texture. Plantain chips and fried pork belly took the guacamole to another level. The empanada trio- all 3 flavors were great. Flaky crust. Will absolutely get again. Ambience- slow on a Tuesday at 6 pm but was picking up when we left at 7. Plenty of tables inside and out. Nice but casual setting.

Yelp
This is a really nice spot in the Vintage to unwind over some post-work drinks and tapas. Service was incredibly friendly; our waiter and other restaurant employees checked on us throughout the night. Seating is cozy but felt a little cramped when tables started filling up throughout the evening. Food was delicious! My friend and I split several different tapas. - Baked Goat Cheese: As a lover of goat cheese, this was my favorite item here. The goat cheese is whipped into a warm, fluffy dip that I could honestly eat everyday. - Patatas Bravas: Crispy, classic, and flavorful- can't go wrong with an order of these - Spanish Croquetas: Pleasant mix of flavors and textures - Copa Burger Sliders: Came in a few different varieties with one including avocado, another with goat cheese, and another sweet and savory option that I think had some fig in it? They were all delicious, so it depends on your preference. You can also request all of them to be the same flavor; the staff said they were pretty open to mixing and matching flavors as needed Will definitely be back to try more of the many other things they have on the menu. - Ambiance: 4/5 - Food: 4/5 - Service: 5/5

Yelp
A hidden gem in The Vintage! This cozy spot offers a consistently great experience. The bartender is always welcoming and knowledgeable, often suggesting fresh and creative wine or cocktail options. What really stands out is their thoughtful food pairing recommendations--they truly enhance the overall dining experience. Although the restaurant is on the smaller side, it has a lot of charm. There's both indoor seating and a lovely patio area, perfect for when the weather is more comfortable. Whether you're stopping in for a drink or a full meal, this place is definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Wow! This food is amazing. Drinks are top notch. You will not be disappointed. Vibes are on point! The owner(s) are wonderful took the time to talk to us and greet us! Come here you will not be disappointed! They care about their craft and it shows

Yelp
Nothing short of pleasant. I've been here quite a few times and from the first visit it's always been a hit. Consistent with food. Tapas are a great portion -- not your ordinary small plates leaving you hungry. They also have larger plates. Ambiance is on 1000%. I feel like I'm on a tropical vacation somewhere. The music is chill (they have live music Friday and Saturday). The cocktails are spectacular -- they put a lot of effort into creating a five start experience. One of my new favorite local spots!

Yelp
1. Service - hostess, our waiter Victor, and the owner were all so nice. They were all kind and friendly. Victor was so attentive and he took good care of us. Ask for him if you ever go there. This is an A-La-Carte restaurant, so you order and pay at the table. 2. Price - inexpensive, but can add up. It's $10-$22 per tapas. For a family of 5, we had about 7 different tapas. 3. Ambiance - hip, cute, and cozy. Definitely a great place to bring a date, meet up friends, and even a family meal. Dress code here is casual, however most people here are dressed pretty nice for a Friday evening. There is loud Latino music that puts you in a party mood. This place is fun with good vibes. 4. Food - our meal was delicious, I highly recommend their STEAK A LA PLANCHA and their PATATAS BRAVAS. 5. Cleanliness - this place is well managed in both dining area and restrooms. OVERALL - I would definitely return. We had a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant if you want some Spanish style food.

Yelp
Food was good, service was great, drinks were okay... I loved the live music! Great talent! Was captivated by the screens playing different hires of Brazil, and the other, random countries. Food was a great blend. Ordered BBQ Brisket tacos, Street corn tostadas and Shrimp Al ajillo... zero complaints!! Had a great time, will def return

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was incredible, and loved the ambiance. Went on a Saturday night and they had a fantastic live musician, he played fun songs, but had the volume set just right where you could still easily talk to the people at your table. I seriously cannot recommend this place strongly enough.

Yelp
Stopped in for a friend's birthday. Beautifully decorated & very comfortable vibe. The head cook dropped by the table to extend an offer for feedback. She said they are still working through the menu and really want to exceed expectations. She asked for honest feedback if anything was less than outstanding. She was authentic & it was refreshing to hear - They want to succeed. Most at our table ordered two tapas (a couple ordered 3) plus two+ drinks - this ended up being too much food & consequently, pretty darn wxpenaice for a girl's night out. Don't make our mistake - start with one tapa per person if with a large group (or 1.5 at most - 2 was too much) . The items are very shareable. We ordered too much which in turn drove the bill up quickly. Tapas are tricky because everyone wants to try more than one. It would be nice to see a few more options in the $10-12 range in general. I had one of the best salads I have had in a long while. The warm grilled orange was delightful & with the cheese, very filling. I would happily go back for lunch with or without friends for that salad alone. On the shrimp, they about $3.50 per shrimp. When I go out, I am usually looking for a wow factor - something I couldn't do just as easily at home for less. These were well cooked, garlicky & tasty but didn't really have a unique flavor element. While I appreciate the menu had a lighter option, in my opinion, I would not order the shrimp again. Again, they were good so others may think the value was there. For me & my budget, a better location for smaller groups. When drinks are flowing, it's challenging to manage to a budget in a large group.

Yelp
TAPAS and AMAZING COCKTAILS Beautiful restaurant! I love the light fixtures. Simple and navigable layout. Love the booths and the colors they chose are appealing. The bar is also eye catching. Definitely ties the whole restaurant together. Wonderful staff! (Service) 10/10 They have a variety of different latin foods. Tapa dishes! Definitely recommend the Patatas Bravas (Potatoes with tomato sauce) The Croquetas were pretty good too! Very tasty , reminds me of breakfast! I also got a chance to try their Carne Empanada. Cheesy and well seasoned. Hefty on the meat as well! They also have Fresh guacamole! There is so much more to try! I will likely be returning to venture into the menu a bit more. :) Thank you so much COPA for having us. Hope yall have a Merry Christmas. -Santangelo Balli Gonzales PS- Big shoutout to Brittany and the Entire YELP ELITE COMMUNITY! for being so awesome and welcoming :) so many smiles. All good vibes.

Yelp
Friend of mine introduced me to this place for a girl's night out. They just opened about a month ago or so, so it was nice to see how put together they were. So excited to have a Carribean/Latin flair restaurant in the Vintage. As soon as we walked in I felt the place had a whole vibe of its own. We were greeted promptly and the greeters were both very friendly. We sat at a table near the bar and the whole place has a Cuban style with the bartenders in Havana style shirts & hats. We ordered a couple of drinks each and all of them were delicious. My friend tried prosecco made with strawberries (which she loved) & I had a mojito and a Cuban themed old fashioned made with a banana rum in lieu of bourbon and orange bitters (it was sooooo good!). For food, we tried the empanadas and Argentinan skewers. The seasoning was on point! For dessert, we split the flan and it had just the right amount of creaminess and balanced flavors. My only call-out is that the manager was greeting all the tables, but never stopped at ours, but perhaps it was an oversight as they were pretty busy. I plan on coming back and trying more items on their menu as they really understand what sazon in food really means.

Yelp
The cutest little something nestled in vintage park. It has so much potential, but just not worth the prices. I expected so much more here. I ended up getting brut and a burger with fries. The burger was ok, but the fries were way too big and little to know seasoning.

Yelp
We are in Texas for a friend's wedding. While exploring around our hotel we found this amazing restaurant. The food was so fresh , flavorful and more than worth the price. The interior is beautiful and the music and lighting sets a perfect vibe. From the management , servers to the cooks they were all so friendly and all spoke to us! I highly recommend grabbing a quick bite or a meal from Copa! Whenever I come back to Houston I'll be sitting right back Jorge , Mimi, Destiny , Victor and Shannon were all just as sweet as ever. Thank yall!

Yelp
Talk about a hidden gem. This place is tucked away, but a delight when found. The staff, ambiance and presentation was on point. I came for a private event, but everything was delicious. My favorite was the Patatas Bravas that came with garlic aioli sauce. The beef empanadas were very delicious and better than the chicken. Perfect for a girls dinner or a date night.
google avatar

Dana S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink. Their fusion flare was delicious. Bartenders were attentive and accommodating.

Yelp
We tried this charming and cozy Latin tapas place and they did not disappoint. The food was great and attentive service! We especially enjoyed the two steak dishes. The steaks were delicious and tender. We would recommend and we'll be coming back with friends and family soon!
google avatar

Deidra L.

Yelp
The food was filled with flavor, the service was a little slow to start however they turned it around and were very attentive. The over all ambiance gave resort vibes with great music
google avatar

Sergio V.

Yelp
Very vibrant spot. Gives the vibe of a tropical lounge the steak and potatoes were great. Meat was nice juicy and tender. The mussels dip in the sauce was amazing full of flavor and cooked just right.

Yelp
Copa was a lively and intimate dining experience! We were visiting from out of town for the weekend and the food here was a major highlight. Every plate we ordered was delicious and authentic (highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and pork belly). The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. They also have live music on Friday and Saturday. Can't recommend enough!
google avatar

Beatrice R.

Yelp
This is the second time my husband and I have been to this restaurant and we have loved every dish we've gotten! This time we got the empanada sampler, the Brussels and belly, and the salmon ceviche. When I say every empanada was amazing I'm not kidding. I couldn't pick a favorite. The Brussels were probably the best I've ever had, and the ceviche was so fresh and delicious! The service has been great, they are so friendly and don't hesitate to help you pick out a few items if you are going to share with the table. The overall feel of the restaurant is very chill. They have upbeat music playing all the time, and the aesthetic is really cute. If you're considering this place, we highly recommend!
google avatar

Bethania H.

Yelp
I was very pleased with the place overall. Great location. Waiting staff on point. I would have loved more dessert choices. Food was tasty and good portions to share. This place would be awesome if someone would play live music as background or a DJ with awesome vibes. Will definitely go back. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Copa Sips & Latin Tapas is a nice quant place to go for small plates and cocktails. The atmosphere stays true to the Latin theme which is refreshing. Greeted by an outside Host which is foreign to the Vintage Park area but a nice touch. We see this added service in the Galleria or Mid-Town areas. I ordered the Coxinha Croquetas. These were decadent, cheesy, tangy from the red sauce and just enough shredded chicken. However, the bacon was a nice surprise but I would advise the crew to make sure bacon is listed as one of the ingredients to prevent an person who doesn't eat swine from going left on the staff. Next, I ordered the beef empanadas. These were flavored perfectly! The spicy green dipping sauce stole the show, and the cheese pull solidified it. I would have loved if they would have added raisins in the beef mixture as that is a staple to empanadas as I have experienced. You can tell they use fresh ingredients which is nice. The house margarita was good for $10 but it's average for me because I am a Top Shelf Margarita drinker as you all know so it was decent for the price. I have no doubt they could have made an amazing Top Shelf Marg. The staff is very friendly. Try the flavored water! It added another star from me! I Recommend !!
google avatar

Shannon V.

Yelp
So glad we decided to go to Copa! The service was outstanding-Victor is knowledgeable, honest, friendly, and super attentive. Cocktails-Flora was possibly the best drink I've ever had. Created by the in house bartender...the tangy sweet sugar on the rim was the most perfectly balanced. Food-we wanted to try everything but settled on the baked goat cheese, empanadas, and kebabs. All amazing!! Favorite was the steak and goat cheese. Beautiful indoor design and patio in the heart of Vintage. We wanted pretty much everything on the menu and will definitely be back soon!

Cristi C.

Yelp
Stellar food!! Loved the atmosphere as well. Servers were very attentive. Big variety of dishes....all were outstanding.

Aliya T.

Yelp
The food was good. I ordered the brussel sprouts and chicken empanadas. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts but the empanadas cooked have used more flavor. The sauce served with the empanadas took them to the next level. I sat at the bar and the service wasn't that great. The bartender waited on me, was on his phone and not as attentive once I got my food. I did like the ambiance and would go back to try other food on the menu, just won't sit at the bar.

Clive V.

Yelp
We heard about this new restaurant in Vintage Park, so we visited on Saturday night around 6PM. It has only been open for a month or so on the 24th of August. We were welcomed and the restaurant is well laid out with an outdoor seating area, but everyone was sat inside due to the Texas heat. We were served by Sebastian and Tatum at the bar who made our cocktails. Talking to them it appears to be developing a reputation as a go to spot already and gets considerably busier later. A new bar license has been applied for and will extend opening time to 2PM. We order three tapas dishes, the corn tostada, shrimp bunuelo and a pasta dish - they were excellent but the shrimp dish was outstanding. The only downside was the wine list could be more extensive and some wines had sold out. We charged on and ordered an excellent tres leches which was delicious. We met Jorge, the owner, on the way out and had a great conversation. I hope they continue to grow and get their website online. The area needs more restaurants like this and we certainly will be back.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
We had the burratta bruschetta and the paella for two. Both were exceptional. The mussels in the paella were cooked perfectly. The garlic confit oil on the bruschetta was delicious. We also had some adult beverages and sampled some infused liquors. Service was top notch. Our server was Victor. Also appreciated chatting with the owner, the bartender, and one of the chefs, Shannon. All around great experience.
google avatar

Meredith V.

Yelp
The food , wine and service were amazing! This is the type of place we've been craving up here! Will be back soon.

Lauren L.

Yelp
Great food and service! Good mix of Latin American food, something for everyone and a great place to try something new.

B R.

Yelp
If I could leave zero stars, I would. Absolutely unacceptable experience. We sat at Copa for 45 minutes without even being greeted--no hello, no water, nothing. We actually set a timer because it was so unbelievable. After 50 minutes, we finally managed to place an order. But even after waiting another hour and a half, we still hadn't received a single dish--not even the salad or ceviche we ordered. At that point, we walked out. Meanwhile, other tables were receiving their food at random times, and the entire service was chaotic and disorganized. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.

Haille P.

Yelp
Destiny was such a bubbly, positive and attentive bartender. She made our first time here such a vibe! Highly recommend the house curated cocktails. We can't wait to come back!

David O.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. I look forward to going back andctrying more dishes!

Yelp
You must go to Copa! Perfect for a girls lunch/dinner out or a date night! The service was impeccable, but the food- absolutely divine!! We had a few tapas and the sangria and every bite/sip sent us into heaven! I never write reviews, but I had to write this one so I can make sure this place sticks around because we will be back!!

Cindy M.

Yelp
Love this gem in the Vintage! Great place for a date night, girls' night out or just to try something new. The food is delicious and the cocktails are yummy! The staff is friendly, the service is quick, the decor and music makes you feel like you're somewhere tropical! Hope this place stays, support local businesses!

Yelp
Cute little restaurant that just opened. Great patio, if it's not super hot would be a lovely place to sit. Great cocktails, Latin style foods and great service.

Yelp
Great new addition to Vintage Park! Latin flavors, with a Miami flare. The drinks were strong and the food was flavorful. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Went here today with my husband and son. What a great new spot in the vintage. It's right next to Chef's table kinda hidden in the corner but once inside it is so pretty. I am impressed by the decor and details of this place as well as the service and food. We had several tapas, margarita and sangria as well as dessert. The corn tostadas, Argentinien skewers and Caesar salad was delish. Everything we ate was amazing the drinks were great as well. I was really impressed with the service. The music inside was really good too. Looking forward to coming back in the future.

Peter S.

Yelp
Good food and amazing collection of vinyl records Food was great and owners are in the restaurant with good recommendations for their tapas.

Tammy G.

Yelp
Victor & Shannon were amazing! They took such great care of our party. The food was delicious

Luis A.

Yelp
Great tapas, music and ambiance. Had steaks, Cuban sandwich and cocktails, all very good. Great brunch and happy hour specials too. Service friendly

Ryan F.

Yelp
This is the best new edition to our area in a long time. Excellent bartenders and service all around. Delicious tapas and recently they added brunch which was phenomenal. Jackie, Sebastian, Destiny and Leo have all helped us here and I can't compliment them enough. And the owner Jorge is as classy as they come. Great for brunch or dinner or just drinks at the bar!
google avatar

Carla F.

Yelp
Shannon! From one mama to another, you are an amazing chef and coming back to see my sons in Houston will always include your exquisite restaurant and seeing you! The Tapas were the best I have ever experienced! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such care you gave my family and the most delicious food! Love to you!

A A.

Yelp
I really want this place to thrive. However, if I go for dinner with my husband I want to eat at the same time. I had finished before his arrived. Also water glass should never be empty especially when workers are chit chatting. We would have had another drink but our server was mia. I love the way the owner mixes with the diners, I also appreciate the different food. The patio is perfect. Please train your staff to be better..
google avatar

Miguel G.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! Delicious tapas and great cocktails list. I recommend the mezcal old fashion smoked. The bartenders Sebastian and tatum are always attentive and have a great attitude along with the owner and GM. Im glad Destiny told me about this place and I found this restaurant.

Lee P.

Yelp
What a great little place to eat!! My wife and I found this place on a search for Latin food. We love tapas and this was one of our best experiences in Houston. The service was quick and courteous. The menu is big enough for everyone to find something but not so big that you can't decide. The bar is well stocked and the bar tender was very nice. The food was well plated and was wonderfully flavored. We are planning to go back with our kids and friends. They have both inside and outside tables. The outside tables are in a plaza with water fountain This would be a great place to take a group from work for lunch or for after work drinks.
