The 26 Essential Louisville Restaurants

"At the Copper & Kings distillery in Butchertown, visitors can take a tour of the facility and learn how the company uses copper pot stills to forge American brandies that are influenced by American whiskey and music. Then they can head upstairs to the rooftop bar and restaurant, where Josh Lehman leads the kitchen and has created a menu inspired by Kentucky’s seasonal fare. Dinner offerings include country-fried mushrooms, salmon tartine, sesame scallion pancakes, and an umami burger with charred scallion aioli. Sunday brunch is particularly lovely on the roof." - Lennie Omalza

I want to start off ny recognizing Collin (our tour guide) and Snoop (his furry friend that joined us). They were both amazing, Snoop just chilled with us everywhere we went and Collin took great care of us! Copper & Kings is a much visit in Louisville. When a company known for its Brandy can make it in a town know for is Burbon that it saying something. The company was recently sold to a local (ish) gentlemen after being apart of a much larger chain (I won't split it to much). Their creativity and mastery in the craft is bar none. Did you know agitation in barrels could be performed with Metallica and Run DMC? Yep, you read thst odd sentence correct. C&K does not put their barrels on a ship and sail them around the world. The play a great playmix with huge speakers and amps at the barrels to achieve the same end result. The building was painstakingly resorted and coupled with the butterfly rescue courtyard area their place is beautiful. Don't miss out on this tour and tell Snoop and Collin we said the orange is wrong we agree and fingers up pew pew! You know if you know.

Copper & Kings sure seems like it’s come a ways. This was my first tour of a brandy distillery, and I was stoked to find that many of the apples they use come from my home state. The tour is fairly short but descriptive, and the barrel room smells wonderful. It’s pretty interesting how they’re using sound to try and circulate the aging brandy in those barrels. The staff was friendly and the tour guide was both entertaining and informative. The grounds are pretty and would make for a nice place to relax outside. They also have a Great Pyrenees dog who makes for an extra cuddly mascot; she’s very friendly. My tour was excellent, and we sampled several of their apple and grape brandies at the end. They seemed pretty generous with their sample pours, and their spirits certainly seem much better than they were some years ago. The tour is worthwhile for sure, and I ended up with a renewed respect for the place.

Walking in to this place is magical. The smell of the flowers in the courtyard was so great. Come to find out the colors of the building are inspired from the monarch butterflies. Orange and black. We were greeted with hellos from the staff as well as the canine employees. The story of the passion of making of the brandy in a bourbon world was so entertaining and interesting. And the product is fantastic. Colin our tour guide was so passionate and knowledgeable for the whole process and loved hearing the stories of how this place came to be. Before our tour we had a cocktail in the bar upstairs and wow, how creative and knowledgeable they were for us. Great conversation on creativity with the amazing products they create. One of our favorite tours so far in Louisville! This is a must visit!

Google
5 Stars – Worth the Trip (Twice!) Copper & Kings Distillery absolutely delivered! My wife Kathy and I visited back in December and had an awesome tour, tasting, and left with some great finds from the gift shop. We loved it so much, we came all the way back from St. Louis just to stop in again. Picked up some tasty libations and a T-shirt—and the staff really took care of us. Friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. They made us feel like we were part of the Copper & Kings family. Take the tour! Thanks again—already looking forward to our next visit! —Doug & Kathy

Awesome Brandy, gin and bourbon. I sat at the bar. The bartender (I forget her name but she was a redhead) was super friendly and knew so much about the liquors. She makes incredible drinks. There was hardly anyone there because of the fireworks cancellation, and her recommendations were spot on. The food was top notch. I had the pimento cheese dip with chips to start, fabulous. Perfect with the brandy flight. The scallops were cooked perfectly with delicious mushrooms and potatoes. Warm beignets capped off a delicious dinner. I'll be back

🥃 Copper & Kings Distillery – Brandy, Bass & Bold Ideas ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Located in Louisville’s historic Butchertown district, Copper & Kings is not your typical Kentucky distillery. While most stops on the Bourbon Trail focus on whiskey, this one proudly puts American Brandy front and center – and does it with style, edge, and innovation. The distillery tour is unlike any other. You start with the story behind this bold brand – how Copper & Kings dared to go against the grain in bourbon country and create something truly unique. The production space is filled with custom-made copper pot stills, and the entire place runs on a spirit of creativity and rebellion. But the real surprise waits underground: In the cellar, the aging barrels rest in total darkness… but not in silence. Here, they use a method called “sonic aging” – blasting loud bass-heavy music (often hard rock and heavy metal) through massive subwoofers to agitate the liquid in the barrels. The idea? The sound waves help the brandy move in and out of the wood more intensely, drawing out deeper flavors and accelerating interaction with the barrel. It’s wild. It’s loud. And it’s fascinating. After the tour, you head up to the third floor bar and restaurant – and wow. With a stunning view over Louisville’s skyline and the rooftops of Butchertown, this is one of the most scenic spots to relax with a cocktail. The atmosphere is urban, laid-back, and filled with creative energy. The bar offers an impressive range of brandy-based cocktails, absinthe, gin, and even experimental barrel-aged spirits. The restaurant? Fresh, modern, and full of flavors that pair beautifully with the drinks. Copper & Kings might not be bourbon – but it’s bold, local, and authentically Kentucky in its own way. It celebrates craftsmanship, pushes boundaries, and proves that the spirit of Louisville is about more than just tradition. ✅ If you’re exploring the Bourbon Trail, don’t skip this one – it’s a refreshing change of pace and a reminder that great distilling comes in many forms.

Due to the weather and time of day, my wife and I received a private tour. Colin (sp?) was our guide and did a great job guiding us through the tour. It was fun to learn the nuances between various spirits and what C&K does to create their brandies. It is definitely worth the visit to round out your knowledge and your palate. Their use of music to help enhance the flavor of their spirits was a fun fact to discover.

Yelp
Beautiful patio to enjoy dinner, drinks and sunset. Friendly staff, great service. It did close earlier than we expected.

Yelp
My husband and I started with salmon Tartare and smoked potatoes for appetizers. I don't remember what my husbands cocktail was called but I had a Gimme Gimme. Both were nice. We were seated out on the patio and it was gorgeous. It had a speakeasy type of feel...hidden. Our server convinced us to get the ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Everything was unique and tasty. And the ambiance was great.

Yelp
Fun place to experience brandy . The bar area has a pleasant atmosphere. Try a flight of their exclusive brandies. Just great for the winter weather. Just something different than the bourbon or rye tastings. Come on and see the master bartenders Whitney and Lisa... let them turn you on to their cocktails.

Yelp
My best friend and I decided, what a better way to end 2023 than a tour to Copper and Kings on NYE. Do note you have to book online ahead of time. We arrived quite early and just browsed the merchandise and explored the restaurant upstairs. The restaurant was quite swanky. We did look at the different cocktails they had but we didn't order anything. I forget what food they had as well. We were of course in time for the tour and it was quite interesting. I believe we were one of the few locals in our group. Others were from other states. Our tour guide was quite informative and answered any questions that we had. I'm not gonna spoil everything in this review. The most interesting part of the tour was the basement with the bourbon barrels. When they are not open they will play the music really loud to shake the barrels and it does something with the bourbon. We actually got to experience it ourselves, loud music, touching the barrels and feeling them vibrate. The tasting is always at the end of the tour, we got to sample a few different bourbons and even got to try one with absinthe in it. If anyone is familiar with absinthe then IFYKYK ( If you know you know). We enjoyed the tour very much. Will we be back? Most likely. Maybe we will try the restaurant upstairs.

Yelp
Wonderful brunch spot and BEAUTIFUL grounds! Copper & Kings is a breath of fresh air, serving brandy instead of the typical whiskey like most distilleries in the area. We arrived and walked through the downstairs area before going upstairs for brunch. We were amazed at how beautiful and large it was. There is a huge outdoors area with plenty of space to hang out, cornhole boards and other lawn games. It was very cold the day we went so there wasn't much going on but i'm sure in the warmer months that place is hoppin! We proceeded upstairs to brunch where we were met with a wonderfully curated menu full of dishes that aren't your typical dishes for distilleries or breweries. I got the pastrami fried rice and one of their seasonal cocktails, both were delicious. My friend was not feeling so great and our server was so kind, he brought her a small drink he made with soda water, bitters and some other things. She said it made her feel better! This was a great stop on our Louisville whiskey tour and the food made it even better!

Yelp
Not a welcoming or accommodating staff. My meal was so bad (chicken sandwich) I requested it be taken off the bill which I never do. I would have tried something else but the server didn't check on us after our meal was served. We were one of two tables on a Saturday night. Great location but maybe they should stick to distilling.

Yelp
Best burger in town. Yes, I said it, and I mean it. I have been thinking of this burger ever since I had it. The umami burger is the most favorable juicy burger - topped with gruyere, bok chop, and aioli. Not only is the burger delicious, the view on the rooftop patio is amazing! We sat as the sun was setting and enjoyed the sunset through dinner. The drinks were also spot on AND the dessert, chocolate chess pie with matcha ice cream and ginger crisps, was the perfect way to top off the night.

Yelp
We were planning on touring the distillery and hoped we'd arrive in time for a meal at the rooftop restaurant first because we heard it had a great view and second, we hadn't eaten yet. We had about 30 minutes and the hostess said they could accommodate us. We figured sitting at the bar would be faster and the a.c. was nice because it was in the 90's outside. There was a cool patio outside and they did have large fans. It was Sunday so they were serving brunch. My husband and I decided to share a BLT. I also ordered an Aperol Spritz and my husband ordered a drink with Absynthe. Best Aperol spritz ever! Not sure what our bartender, Kay, did but it was the bomb! Pretty sure my husband liked his cocktail too. Then the BLT came out, and wow! It was incredible too! The bread, the bacon, the tomatoes (green ones,) and even the condiments were excellent. We were happy with our choices all around, and we were able to make our 3:00 distillery reservation with minutes to spare. I highly recommend this little rooftop bar whether or not you plan on doing a distillery tour. They also had a few cool musical events scheduled. If I was a local this would be one of my regular spots; can't beat the food or the service!

Yelp
We visited here last Saturday for a night out for my friend's bachelorette trip. We managed to find parking pretty easily, which was nice considering the relative proximity to downtown. It took some wandering to actually find our way into the restaurant, and what limited signage there was wasn't super helpful - eventually, an elevator brought us up to where we needed to be. Our reservation was honored though I'm not sure how needed it was; they weren't super busy. It took a minute for our table to be ready but we did get a nice view of the city. One huge drawback was that the rooftop area smelled like sewage. I don't imagine that was the restaurant's fault, but at the same time, it was pretty unpleasant. Also, our table was in a spot on the roof that didn't seem to get any heating. On the one hand, sitting outside always runs the risk of getting chilly, but on the other hand, there were heat lamps directed at other tables but ours sadly wasn't in the line of "fire," as it was lol. By the time the sun went down we were pretty cold. Service was decent - definitely pleasant and helpful - but there were several hiccups. The food was a little slow to come out and the bride's side order of potatoes was forgotten until we reminded them and then they were not brought out till we were almost done eating. Also, one of the girls who ordered a mocktail drank it only to realize that it definitely was not alcohol free. Luckily she wasn't the DD or trying super hard to stay sober, but that was quite a surprise! They did generously offer to split our checks, but we wound up just paying for one cause we wanted to get out of the cold. The food menu is kind of tiny and kind of pricy but the dishes do seem as though someone put a lot of careful thought into them. Just make sure they're serving something you'd like before you go cause I can see someone coming here and not being able to find something to their liking due to the somewhat limited menu. The cocktail menu is extensive and creative and a lot of the drinks have fun and clever names. I'm not a big alcohol drinker so I kept it to water, but I heard mostly positive stuff about the drinks from those who did partake. I split a pimento cheese and chips appetizer with one of the other bridesmaids to start and it was definitely the low point food-wise. The chips were a little soggy/chewy, most were portioned directly on top of the pimento cheese (which worsened the sogginess), and the pimento cheese itself was super runny instead of chunky, oddly on the sweeter side, and just didn't taste much like pimento cheese. It reminded me of a slightly cheesy mayo-ketchup sauce like you'd dip fries in. They did let us get some extra chips to go with it so that was nice. My entree was much better -- the umami burger was insanely juicy (so much so it get all over my hands!) and indeed very savory. I really did enjoy it. The bun held up pretty well too, which was surprising given how juicy the burger was. The potatoes served with it were also good, kind of gourmet-feeling, though honestly I'd probably have been just as happy with some fries, haha. Didn't hear too much from others about the food, although the MOH said she really liked the kale salad she got, so that's good! Honestly, I'd probably rate my experience a 3.5 but sadly half-stars aren't an option. If I'm ever in the area again I'd be willing to give this place another try.

Yelp
While our tour guide Amy was knowledgeable and nice. Other employees were outright rude and disrespectful. Not consumer friendly at all.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious burger! They have a small menu & I feel confident in saying it's because they know what they do well & continue to do it well! I tried a gin drink this time, I'm blanking on the name but it had pineapple and was also really good. I'm not the biggest fan of gin but this drink managed to impress me! Will be back!

Yichien C.

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere to gather with friends. We get to enjoy a rooftop view. The food was delicious. We will definitely come back. Thank you Rachel for your hospitality and thoughtful service.

Yelp
Gorgeous views; mediocre food and service. Most items arrived lukewarm or cold. The chicken thigh appetizer was under-seasoned. The smoked and roasted potatoes were cold and the gnocchi was gummy and unflavorful. Fine dining prices without the panache. Enjoyed the cocktails aside from the Arnold pommer which had no taste. Service was slow and inattentive. Was really looking forward to this experience and was disappointed. You will smell Butchertown throughout your visit, though I can't fault the restaurant for this.

Yelp
Goodness, we had such a special experience here on a midday Friday afternoon. We had a little time to kill before catching a flight out of Louisville. This was our first indoor food and drink experience in two years! We ended up going for it because the space was empty during our visit. Between the friendly bartender (who had recently moved to Lou from Nashville) and the beautiful rooftop space featuring floor to ceiling windows, modern decor, views of downtown Louisville and an outdoor patio space, this was a five star experience through and through. And I haven't even mentioned by Old Fashioned yet! The cocktail packed a punch but was smooth from start to finish. If you're new to Copper & Kings Distillery - it's truly a one-of-a-kind distillery. The building is LEED certified, features shipping container offices/gift shop to kick off your visit, guided tours, unique distilling methods - see "sonic aging" and a light bites menu. Not to mention the Scandinavian vibes that you'll find in their outdoor space with a fire pit, sleek design and thoughtful landscaping. I'd have to say Copper & Kings is one of my favorite spots to visit when in Louisville. Bravo to the entire team for creating such a thoughtful and fun business for locals and visitors alike.

Yelp
Was my least favorite place to visit on our Bourbon Trail trip. We sat outside and I was smelling sewage the whole time, which I know they can't control much, but maybe don't have an outside section where it's smelly outside. The drinks were okay, but would be better suited for someone who is a fan of gin or brandy. I asked the server why this distillery was on the Craft Bourbon Trail (they don't produce any as far as I'm aware), but she didn't have an answer for me. The food was good, not great. I'm more of a fan of simple meals, and I felt like this food was very fancy and didn't really match the feel of the place. I will probably come back for a tour, but not for the food/drinks.
google avatar

Kelsey P.

Yelp
It was finally warm enough out to enjoy the outdoor rooftop seating with a few friends recently. It's always a sure thing here that the service is going to be great and the drinks are going to be delicious, so it was an obvious yes when thinking about where to spend a couple hours in the warm sun. Our group got everything from the cocktail flight to their espresso martini, and beyond. We were there on a weekend during the day and were seated right away - it wasn't too busy at all. They're doing some renovations on the kitchen, so their typical food menu doesn't really apply right now - I believe they should be done in a month or so.

Yelp
LOVE a good rooftop restaurant! My friends and I visited the Copper & Kings distillery earlier in the day, and we ended up for dinner. We were pretty exhausted from drinking all day, so I didn't have more, but the food was fantastic. We also got there just in time for sunset, which involved LOTS of photos. If there's one word to describe this place, it's VIBES. We ordered a ton of apps for both tables (about 20 people total in our party) which included chips, potatoes, charcuterie, and more. Everything was so aesthetically presented! For dinner, I got the Butchertown Mole with duck confit, sticky rice, pickled apricots, and pepitas ($13) which was filling and flavorful. I find it odd that a ton of other Yelpers have been saying this place doesn't have food, but I think because Copper & Kings is also a brewery, there's reviews that were incorrectly associated. Anyways, I really enjoyed my experience here, despite being wiped out from the day. Would definitely come back someday to enjoy their cocktails with a fresh mind and liver!
google avatar

Alaina S.

Yelp
Only came to check out the rooftop bar. Was in the area and heard their brandy was really good. I was able to do a flight of two of the brandy's. The American Craft and Butchertown. The American craft was good, pretty smooth. The Butchertown was harsher initially (the proof is much higher) but after a few sips I could taste the nice almost spicy flavors shining through. I asked for a sazerac which they make with their Butchertown bourbon. It was very good! I have recently started drinking sazeracs with brandy instead of rye. When done well it is a super tasty. This one was done well and convinced me I needed to buy their Butchertown brandy for my home bar. The facility looks like it would be fun to tour and hang out on their courtyard. Hopefully we will be back down this way again soon!

Liz B.

Yelp
The food here was okay. The problem is that it is right by a pig slaughterhouse and the stench was overwhelming. So, difficult to enjoy. What a horrible location in what otherwise might have been a cool experience.
google avatar

Yelp
My smash burger was amazing!!! My husband and I cleaned our plates. This is a chill vibe with delicious food and cocktails. I got the "Espress Yourself"- it was sweet and a perfect sip after dinner. The smash burger domes with fried potatoes that are heavenly. We ended with an olive oil ice cream sandwich with a cherry drizzle...mmmmmmmmmm. I highly recommend all of it!

Tara L.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Saturday evening and to our surprise the place wasn't busy at all. I'm not sure why people are sleeping on this place, but we were super happy with everything we tried--mushroom perogi, kale Caesar salad, smash burgers, and mussel toast. We also tried several cocktails and a glass of their cold brew coffee, and we thought they were all great! We even had a perfect view of the fireworks for the Baseball Stadium after the game from the rooftop porch. It was clean, quiet, decorated well, and we had attentive service. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
Heard many great things about this place so we had to add it to the list. Scored a reservation and made it for the sunset. Amazing view of the city here and the food was pretty tasty!
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
If you're looking for a more hip distillery, this place is it. To send pulse to their liquor barrels, they blast a high bass playlist all day. Not only do they make brandy, they also have several gins and absinthe. You do a good four strong pours during the tour, and their third floor rooftop bar IS MARVELOUS. Their drinks are named after songs, I opted for the "Drops of Juniper"--get it? They had so many drink options and bar food. Unfortunately we were a little too late and the kitchen had closed. Such a fun spot.
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Cooper & Kings, you definitely need to add it to your list to check it out! Even thought they are only open Thursday - Sunday this is an ideal spot for a great craft cocktail, soaking in the view of the Downtown Louisville Skyline. We popped in on Thursday night for a quick before dinner cocktail and I cannot wait to go back to actually eat dinner there. We got the Lovers Quarrel, Drops of Juniper and the Fly me to the Moon which was rather interesting. The Fly me to the Moon consists of Moons of Juniper Gin, Tuaca Vanilla, Allspice Dram, Vanilla Bean, Lavender Butterfly Syrup and Lemon. Now the lemon is served on the side and you are supposed to pour it in. The acid activates something in the drink (I'd be lying if I said I remembered) as well as lightens it once poured in. I took a video of it but am unable to post here. It definitely had a different taste but I really liked it and highly recommend!
google avatar

Madeline M.

Yelp
Just don't go on a night where they're butchering the pigs across the street. Will smell like bad bacon.

Jeff C.

Yelp
Limited food menu but what they had was fantastic. I had the smash burger. Service was good. We sat outside and the atmosphere was good other than it was very windy, certainly not the fault of the restaurant. I had an old fashioned and it was very good. I also had their bourbon and it was good. I would and have recommended this place.

Randy H.

Yelp
Limited food and bar menu and overpriced. $34 hamburger common I've had $15 burgers that were larger and much better.
google avatar

Rhonda O.

Yelp
A lot of things can be forgiven and overlooked because of the view. We had a party of 8 for my birthday. 4 tickets we knew it would be on one check. No problem. What we didn't know was one person/one card had to pay for entire bill and then the rest pay them back. This caused a bad taste at the end of a lovely evening. It would have been ideal as most places do-each party pay their amount on THEIR card so one person doesn't get stuck with a large charge and left to collect. Side note server was NOT accommodating or even slightly friendly. She was almost rude. She did provide great insight about the brandy because I was going to not try bc I was under impression it was sweet-that is COMPLETELY WRONG it is a lovely smooth bourbonesque flavor highly recommend the flights. Food was EXCELLENT but another negative-I asked to try their house Caesar and without letting me know was charged extra - not a lot but seriously?? Same with extra chips for the delicious pimento. We will definitely go back for the SPECTACULAR VIEWS and sunsets. Wished there would have been live music (or any) the back room where we were was awful. Dark no air circulation and no music. Still all things considered I would recommend and will go back.
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
This review is mainly just for the bar as we didn't take a tour or eat, however the drinks were excellent and staff was great. Copper & King makes some great brandys and cocktail bitters. I would love to come back for a tour and brunch.
google avatar

G V.

Yelp
Went there on a date night before a Lou City game. Great drinks and the bartenders were very friendly. I didn't try the food, but the drinks were amazing.
google avatar

Jim A.

Yelp
Probably our favorite place in Louisville for drinks. 5 stars...I actually give it 6 stars for their cocktails and view of downtown Louisville. Probably our least favorite place for food. Bland and uninspired. Have tried many things, would never order them again. 1 star for food. It's baffling to me how they can hit a grand slam with their cocktails and yet totally blow it with their food. Absolutely come here and get cocktails, you will not be disappointed--just do what we do. Start here for a few great drinks, then migrate to someplace else for food. Too many great places to eat in Louisville to waste food dollars here.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
This is a GREAT rooftop bar! Love their outdoor patio on the roof during the warmer months. They have great craft cocktails! Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to have anything to eat here yet but that is on my list of things to do because I have heard great things!
google avatar

Ryan O.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Quality drinks and super easy to get along with. Even though the distillery was closed they went out of their way to show us the merchandise so we could purchase some things. Drinks were the best in Louisville.
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Fantastic service! Our server was so happy and personable. She gave great suggestions and checked on us frequently. She really knew the menu and could talk about each item with a personal perspective because she had tried everything herself. I appreciated that info a lot. Her knowledge about the drinks was also great! The restaurant has a relaxed and modern vibe. Food and drinks were amazing! Price point was excellent for what you were getting. I would come back again.

Tyler D.

Yelp
What a beautiful bar and view. Opening this up the way that they did was the best decision they could of Made. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kate P.

Yelp
Ooof... just thinking about this meal has me salivating. The potatoes that accompanied our meals were the most perfectly crispy potatoes. If I could've spent a moment away from my amazing meal I would've raced back to the kitchen to see how they're cooking these perfect little taters. The service was impeccable, great atmosphere, highly recommend.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Great bar. Hidden spot above the distillery. Great views of the city. Bartenders were kind and quick. Lots of craft cocktails. Outside patio has plenty of seating and heaters! Unique looking bar. Has some more private areas around the back of the bar. Bar stools are comfortable, but that hole in the back makes it hard to keep your clutch on the chair. Lights are super dim. Not too busy, but picked up as the night went on. Bathrooms are clean, unisex. Uber had no issues finding it to drop us and pick us up.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
The restaurant was somewhat tricky to find because you have to go inside Copper and Kings and take the elevator up and it looked like the place was closed from downstairs. There are not many places to sit inside the restaurant but there is a great outdoor space for warm Louisville days. The view is beautiful! The menu is small but had some good choices. For appetizer we had the Truffle fries ($10) and Bacon and Chive Hush Puppies ($9). Both were seriously yummy and fresh! For my entree I got the Shrimp and Grits ($16). They were tasty but it was not hot. The grits were Luke warm (I still ate it). My date got the Griddled Double Cheeseburger ($14) which he enjoyed! He even mentioned it a few days later. Almost forgot we got a pitcher of the Sangria, which was one of the best sangrias I've had!

Jason H.

Yelp
Was I thoroughly impressed? Yes. End of review. Kidding. I have a lot of praise to give. The cocktail menu is fun and exciting and makes you feel fancy. If you read my other reviews, I generally dont like restaurants that are "fancy". The view of the Louisville skyline is beautiful - need to go back when it isn't dark and rainy to snap a pick. You might do it for the gram, but mine is def for Yelp! My only negative is the location away from the street and I'm really only upset because it was raining. So with that actually being a nonfactor, let's get to the good, nay the great. Service - our server was super friendly and able to laugh and play along with the jokes my group was making. She was a human, not a robot going through the motions. Big ups to her! Food - ok the brussel sprouts were just fine. The big pieces were slightly undercooked, but the sauce was amazing. The tender sprouts (or are they brussels?) were like heaven in my mouth. - the goat cheese dip and chips were delicious and the chip refills are bottomless. You dont have to worry about running out of things the dip. - the salad was surprisingly delicious, as was the fried chicken on top. - for the entrees...this is one of the best burgers in Louisville. I will be back for this burger. - the shrimp and grits are good. No complaints. - the chicken sandwich is really the only thing we thought was subpar. But not everyone can be great at everything. Also, it seems like a quiet-ish venue. I wouldn't suggest a boisterous group. There were several time I felt "bad" about the other guests because of how loud I (and my friends) was/were. I cant reccomend the restaurant enough. I cant wait to try it on a warm, sunny day to take full advantage of the rooftop! PS. Dont forget to check in and use the $5 drink coupon. I forgot and now have to go back

Yelp
Depending on when you go to ALEX&NDER, I feel strongly you're going to have a different experience. This weekend I swung between a 5-star and 3-star all during the same trip but overall this is a great spot for cocktails, conversation and a great rooftop view. I appreciate how much seating is available and made to accommodate groups, both inside and out. Orders are taken at the bar, no servers. You can keep a tab open though. They do not serve a food menu but I've gotten a cheese plate once. This weekend I was told the kitchen had been renovated and nothing was available. One bartender was amazing and I loved my old fashion. He was an artist and I enjoyed watching him make drinks. The other bartender made me a gin gin mule and it was awful. Sadly I think this was more about her skills and less about the recipe. She also took so much time to make it. I watched the other guy pump out 5 drinks before she handed me mine. If you check in on Yelp, any cocktail is only $5. That's such an awesome deal! Later in the evening the DJ spun tunes. Originally he kept the speakers inside but later turned them out to the patio and my friend and I had to scream at each other to continue speaking. The music was good but it killed our conversation and we left shortly afterwards. So, long story long ... if your first experience with ALEX&NDER didn't hit the mark, try another night or time of the week. Or, another bartender.

Yelp
This is my favorite place I've found in KY so far! Beautiful view, excellent service, great drinks and a small, but yummy, food selection! I ordered a brandy sour with egg white and it was so good! For food I ordered a grilled Caesar salad which was also delicious and the perfect size! Plenty of seating areas inside and out as well as a fun patio out front with a pool and little Dunkin' seating area and bar. It wasn't open at the time I came it may just be for events I'm not sure but it was really nice! I will be back during every business trip to KY for sure! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Located at Copper and Kings this bar has a lovely view of the new soccer stadium and downtown. It's a wonderful place to go and sit outside and enjoy a drink with company. We met up with some friends and had a lovely time. The signature drinks all contain the Copper and Kings Brandy. The drinks were pretty tasty, and there's not any food options but at least the new pizza place is just down the street. I will definitely check it out particularly in evening time frame for the view. As an FYI- This was on the weekend, so there was a 2 hour time limit on the table.

Yelp
I love cocktails! Cocktails with a view are even better. Cocktails with a view and super service? *swoon* I have visited this schmancy bar several times. A couple for special Yelp events, and a couple times just for the dranks. You need to be a cocktail loving person, but this place has yet to disappoint me. They offer some classic cocktails, classics with a twist, some that sub in brandy for something else (you know...since brandy is made there!), and interesting seasonal specials. And every single beverage I have even had the smallest sip of have been delicious! These are well-crafted drinkable works of art. They are going to take a little more time to make than if you just order a beer somewhere, so be patient. The bartenders are ready with a recommendation. Super friendly and ready to chat if they aren't slammed. They don't have much to offer in the way of food. Some little snacky things, but if you are planning to indulge in more than one drink...maybe have a bite of something before you go. Or Uber! You should visit ALEX&NDER at any time of the year, because the wall of windows allows year-round views of the Louisville skyline. But if you have the chance, also go in nice/mild weather to enjoy the drinks, sunset and skyline from the upper patio!

Yelp
High above the streets of Butchertown, there's a bar just begging for you haha I take a peek. While capping off a recent night out, a friend and I decided to try somewhere new and I saw Alex&nder on Yelp. I had seen it before and was eager to try it out, so we headed on over. Located in the top of Copper and Kings Distillery, the bar boasts an impressive view of the skyline with an outdoor patio when the weather is nice. On this particular evening it was raining cats and dogs, so after we entrer through the courtyard and took the elevator to the top of the distillery, we made sure to stay inside. The bar itself is elegant, with a mix of old and new. Tin tiles decorate the wall behind the bar, giving things a 1920s vibe, and mod orange chairs are pulled up to the tables. We grabbed a drink (mojito for me), and used a Yelp check in offer for a great deal on the drinks. I used the savings to give a generous tip to my bartender. We sat, sipped, and enjoyed the skyline and the very chill vibe. This place wasn't crowded, so it felt relaxing to be there at the end of the night. For your next night out, when you want to end it right, swing by Alex&nder and find a new favorite place!

Yelp
We loved the rooftop bar! Killer view over Louisville. Amazing drinks and super friendly, knowledgeable bartenders. The Brandy Alexander was one of the best drinks I've had in quite a while! I always stop at Copper & Kings when I'm in town.

Yelp
New favorite date spot! This place is perfect for a great view of downtown and a large outdoor patio for a quiet date night. The drinks are made from their own brewed liquor of brandy, gin and absinthe. The have such fun drinks so take a look at the entire drink menu. I loved their sangria! Their signature drink Alex&der is a must try filled with brandy, cream, creme de cacao. You have the best views of Louisville, don't miss out!

Yelp
I didn't think that it was possible to admire Copper & Kings more until ALEX&NDER came along. After a visit to this bar, I was in awe by my experience and really enjoyed my time here! We were already at C&K for Porktoberfest, and decided to stop in this bar to grab a drink and bask in the beautiful view from the rooftop. The inside of ALEX&NDER is dimly lit, modern, cozy and just beautiful. The outdoor rooftop patio is no different, and offers such a pretty view of the Louisville skyline. Their drink menu is extensive, and they also have seasonal menus. Since we came around the fall, they had a whole list of apple cider cocktails. I went with their Cider Sangria, which also had Copper & Kings brandy in it. It was perfect!!! Everything from the portion to its taste was fantastic. I also quickly noticed that they do such an awesome job with the presentation of their drinks - they have tons of garnishes lined up on the bar and know how to make their drinks look pretty. I would not miss an opportunity to spend some time here while at Copper & Kings, and recommend you do the same!

Yelp
This place is extremely neat and the food is great and the service is even better. Will definitely come again!
